Htmldb_item.date_popup and sort options in reports

I use the htmldb_item.date_popup in a report (PLSQL returning SQL). Everything works fine unless I provide the option to sort columns. If I allow a column to be sorted, the date_popup does not return the date to the corresponding field but to another field of the same column. However, the users want to be able to sort the report due to several columns. Can anyone provide a work-around?

PS: I know that the problem already has been discussed in the forum, but I did not find a solution for the problem.

I have this issue as well with popup_from_query compunded with sorting.
Wondering if there is any workaround from anyone ?

    I've got a report that gets used for several different puposes, and needs to be grouped or sorted differently each time.  How can I use a parameter to let the user choose the group and sort options at runtime?

    You can create a report using parameter field. Follow these steps
    -- Create new parameter in the field explorer window
    -- The parameter shouls be static and enter all the field names on which you want to create in the values option
    -- Now create a formula like this

    -- Now insert new group and select this formula
    -- Now the group will change according to the parameter selected
    Please note that if you have different data types of fields you must need to convert totext()
    as If condition will allow only one data type output.
    Also when you insert any group by default the data is sorted on grouped field. If you want to sort on another field then you need to insert a summary field on that and go to report>group sort expert>select the field-->All based on the summary inserted.

  • Group and sort in webi report

    I have a requirement to group and sort in a report. Group should be based on id, sort based on time. Time sort should be the priority. Meaning, first criteria to sort is time, but if the id is repeated, time should be sorted for that id.
    e.g, If I have ids A,B,C and values are such that A - 9:15 AM, B - 9:00 AM, A - 10:00 AM, C - 9:30 AM.
    Requirement is as below
    B - 9:00 AM
    A - 9:15 AM
    A - 10:00 AM
    C - 9:30 AM
    If I apply sort on time without group on id, I am getting data in the below manner which is not correct.
    B - 9:00 AM
    A - 9:15 AM
    C - 9:30 AM
    A - 10:00 AM
    If I apply group first, I am not able to apply sort. Since the requirement is to show the least time first.
    Please advice.

    use the variable
    =Min([Time]) In ([ID])
    to sort. Then hide the column by reducing the width and making the font and background color as white.

  • Need to add print and download options for report in new window

    Hi,
    On one of the columns empid of the report1 (which is on the dashboard) , I am using navigation and pointing it to report2.
    Report1 has all the links, print, download and refresh (I enabled them using the section properties) but when I click on empid and it takes me to report2, then I don't see any links under that report. I want to include print and download links for report2 when it opens in the new window.
    I know, one way is to embedd that report in the dashboard page and hide it, but is there any other way of doing it?
    Any help would be highly appreciated.

  • Filter and Sort Options???

    Is there a way to Sort or Filter only the RAW files in a Library folder that have had adjustments made to them in the Develop Module?   Not by date, key words or flags etc.  Only develop adjustments.

    Versions prior to LR 4 allowed you to easily apply a smart collection to an arbitrary folder, but Adobe removed that functionality in LR 4.  There are several workarounds:
    - Add the criterion Folder Contains All <folder name> to your smart collection.  Of course, you'll have to edit it every time you want to search a different folder.
    - Use this recipe:
    1. Click on the smart collection to show the photos matched by it (all photos in your catalog).
    2. Edit > Select All.
    3. In the Folders pane, click on the desired folder.
    Only the photos in the folder that match the smart collection will be selected.  You can save that selection to the Quick Collection or another collection.
    - Use the Any Filter plugin.

    the variation is set to 'do not explode' in the report 1SLK-001 (S_ALR_87013614)
    You can check this  using the following path in transaction GRR3 (library 1VK) report 1SLK-001:
    Menu: Edit -> Variation, you will see that the variation is set to 'Do not explode'.
    This is why navigation between the different reports or variation is not
    available in this report, (the icons are greyed out).
    Iif you wish to have this functionality, then you can copy the report and change
    the variation as follows:
    -> via GRR1 create a copy of the standard report using report 1SLK-001 as
        a reference, ('Copy from'-field).
    ->  in this new report you can then via Edit->Variation change 'Cost Element
         from 'Do not explode' to 'explode', and CO area from 'Do not explode'
         to 'Variation sing. val'."

  • How can I save my finder arrange/sort options once and for all?

    I'm opening the Finder View Options panel and resetting the arrange and sort options several times a day and it's driving me nuts. The Finder ignores my desperate pleas to apply these options system-wide and seems to purposely forget the options I chose the day before.
    I notice that the Icon view, List view, and even the Cover Flow view in the Finder get a "Use as Defaults" button in the View Options. Those of us in the Column View don't get that button, though. What have we done to deserve this?
    I'd like the Finder to now and forevermore open every window with the following options:
    Column View
    Arrange By > Kind
    Sort By > Name
    Can anyone help me make this happen? Thanks!

    I've found setting the Arrange By to anything other then None gives different results then what I expected.
    Select Column View from the Tool bar then open View Options and set Arrange By to None and Sort By to Name.
    If you then see the names in reverse alphabetical order click on list in the tool bar then on the Name column header to put them right. in Alphabetical order, then switch back to column view on the Tool bar. you should be good to go from there
    Whoever thought up Finders View logic should have their head checked.

    I am just selecting 2 dimensions and one key figure.  The data for the query is from a Universe which is build from a multiprovider cube. (BEX query)
    Even if I select a one dimension and one measure still the ranking and sorting functions are disabled.
    Is there some security which is turned off ?

    My query in Q_1 of Oracle report is select &a_code ori_code ,&a_desc ori_description from &a ori_lup order by &b. When click on OK button it says
    ORA-00936: missing expression

    I am not able to resolve this problem.
    What I am trying to do is I have some maintenance tables which have almost same columns like code, description. I want to define a single report and pass on parameters to this report, so that I can use same report for different tables. If I dont give order by clause it is working fine, but I should also provide sort option based on user selection of sort by code/description.

    The problem is the htmldb_item.DATE_POPUP( command will not allow for minutes and seconds to be modified or even displayed (the date is displayed).
    I have changed the Column Formatting - Number / Date Format to DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS and it still wont display the time.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    On a report wit a single( one ) row the "HTMLDB_ITEM.date_popup" does not fill the selected date to the cell. (Same for wwv_flow_item.date_popup)
    On the same report with 2 or more rows HTMLDB_ITEM.date_popup works fine.

    Using the htmldb_item API vs. built-in multi-row update functionality:
    I can't speak to the question about the date for the next HTML DB release. But I'd like to add a few comments to this discussion regarding the use of the htmldb_item API package. It is generally advisable to use the built-in multi-row update functionality instead of htmldb_item function calls when implementing tabular forms. While I do acknowledge that some display types such as date popups are not yet available, I would nevertheless recommend working with what's available on the report column attributes page (i.e. using a text field for the date columns) as opposed to using htmldb_item functions whenever possible. Please keep in mind though that they are mutually exclusive, so they can't be combined on the same report.
    The reasons for my recommendation are simple: first of all, if you use htmldb_item calls as part of your SQL statement, the HTML form elements are rendered for all rows in your result set. The built-in types on the other hand only render HTML form elements for those rows shown on your current page, thus you get better performance. Secondly, htmldb_item calls make your SQL statement quite complicated, not only has the engine to jump back and forth between executing your SQL and calling the PL/SQL functions, you also need to take extra care implementing your PL/SQL processes according to the item IDs you assigned in your htmldb_item function calls. When working with e.g. popup LOVs, this gets even more complicated because that type actually results into two html form elements for each column (one storing the hidden ID, one storing the display value). And lastly, by using the multi-row update functionality, you would get lost update detection automatically built. That means, that you can't accidentally overwrite another person's changes in the event that you should both be working on the same data. Implementing this kind of functionality with your htmldb_item based tabular forms would take a lot more effort than simply go with what's already provided.
    So please carefully weigh the benefits of additional display types that you'll get by using the htmldb_item API against all the functionality you'll get by using the built-in tabular form and multi-row update features.

    Are you not able to add an order by clause to the main query and default the ordering there? Also, when you create an Interactive Report as a developer you should be able to set/save the settings for the default.

    You can make a descending sorting for your key figure using the condition TopPercent (Top%) and take the value 100. To sort ascending, use the BottomPercent (Bottom%) condition on your key figure.
    Then 100 % of the values of your key figure will be shown in a descending sorting by default in your query (without using a view).
    I used the feature in the newest BEx Query Designer (7.x) and it works fine, I don't know if it's available in the older version (3.x).
