HTTP Server process dies

Hi
We have got Oracle9ias release 9.0.3 with Webcache running on a 4 processor 4GigRam server.
JDK is 1.3.1_02.
The HTPP server process dies after a while. The entry in the imp.log
reveals this:
03/11/10 20:20:34 ipm_hc_get_headers: failed to get reply back from send
03/11/10 20:20:34 ohs ping: Failed to get a numeric http status from OHS
03/11/10 20:20:56 ipm_hc_get_headers: failed to get reply back from send
03/11/10 20:20:56 ohs ping: Failed to get a numeric http status from OHS
03/11/10 20:21:18 ipm_hc_get_headers: failed to get reply back from send
03/11/10 20:21:18 ohs ping: Failed to get a numeric http status from OHS
Using IHAT it shows that the HTTP serve had 3107 errors so far. What is amzing is that the process started itself after apporx 2 hours while we were looking at the log files. This is now the 3rd time that this process has died on us.
Any know patches to load or bugs that we should be aware of?
Tks
Andre

k

  • Application Engine Server process dies on Windows

    Hi experts,
We developed an AE in which employee data will be calculated and inserted to HR core table via CI. We started multiple instance of the AE by people code, most of them will success but others run into error and reported "Process XXX is marked 'Initiated' or 'Processing' but no longer running.". On further research we found the windows process (PSAESRV) died and a folder named PSAESRV.PID was generated in process scheduler log directory. The following can be found in "process_state.txt" in the directory:
    Exception: (0xC0000005) EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION - Memory access violation
(The memory at 0x00133000 could not be read)
    Exception location:
    Fault address=0x2500b836 0001:0000a836 C:\PT850\BIN\SERVER\WINX86\pscmnutils.dll
    Other information:
    Tools: 8.50
    Server:Windows XP SP3.
    Database:Oracle 10.2.0.1.0.
Could any one figure out what's the problem?

Yes it's running on Windows XP professional. We run the test both in Linux Server and Windows XP.  So far no error has been found in Linux Server.  We began performance test and found the error on Windows XP on April,2010. Then we refine the code and test again these days, and the error happens again with the same error message.
*Not sure whether the Peopletools is up-to-date or not, the version of modules can be found in the "process_state.txt" file of the dead process. Attached below is the file.
    Thanks!

  • HTTP Server not starting in SOA Suite for linux

    Hi all,
Installation and configuration of the new SOA Suite on SUSE 9 is not without faults. During the configuration the HTTP Server process is not starting. According the log file (opmn/logs/HTTP_Server~1.log) the HTTP Server is trying to start in SSL-mode, but I guess the SSL was not properly configured during the installation by the installer. I am not able to configure SSL myself, so my workaround was to disable SSL in the opmn.xml configuration file.
Is anyone experiencing these problems? How can I configure SSL? Is SSL supposed to be enabled on the soa-server?
    Thanks in advance,
    Harm

    Hi,
First shutdown iAS, then edit the opmn.xml and restart.

  • F60srvm process dies under Solaris

We are running OAS 4.0.7 under Solaris 2.6 with Oracle 8.0.5.
Our version of Developer 6 is 6.0.5.0.3.
We get a process started with "f60ctl start"
The server process dies when we invoke the form in a browser.
    Anybody have any suggestions?

If you start a background process, the shell remembers its pid in $!.
That can be used to store the pid in a pid-file, which may be useful when stopping the thing or preventing multiple starts.
Or you can also use a wrapper script around the java program which remembers the java process's PID and traps the exit and sigstop signals, and in the trap stops the java process. Thus you have to find your own script process, not the java process
BTW: is there any special way to stop your java process or you want just to send it a SIGTERM signal?

  • SRT: Unexpected failure in SOAP processing occurred - HTTP server instance

I am trying to invoke an ABAP server proxy.  I can see the call route through XI.  But then when it tries to invoke the ABAP server proxy, i get the following error - SRT: Unexpected failure in SOAP processing occurred: ("No configuration for this HTTP server instance").  It looks like this might be a configuration issue on the SAP ECC side but I am not sure what needs to be corrected.  Here is the error is XI.

    hi Jay,
i face the same problem for the web service and after reading your thread i've check that the ECC XI web service is already active in SICF
is it possible the user id used for testing dont have authorization for testing or accessing the web service ?
if it is possible, do you know what kind authorization that i need to add to the user id ?

    Hi ,
It seems there is a clash of resources. There are rogue httpd processes left whenever OHS starts/restarts.File httpd.pid contains root httpd process and with the help of scoreboard file its communicated to child httpd processes.
    1.check OPMN LOGS.
    2.shutdown all process (OPMN infact)
    3.pkill or kill -9 httpd
4.go to $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/logs/states and delete all files.
5.check no other HTTP server ports are being used by other processes.(restarting the server is better idea !).
    6.CHECK ons.conf IF ANY ENTRIES ARE MISSING / MODIFIED - V IMP
    6.Start OPMN and HTTP Server.

  • Oracle HTTP Server internal heartbeat process issue

    Hi All,
I am having an Oracle HTTP Server configured in the front of Weblogic 11g. I just noticed that
in my HTTP Server access.log, there is an incoming new entry every 20 seconds like this,
    127.0.0.1 - - [19/May/2010:08:09:57 -0400] "HEAD /index.html HTTP/1.1" 200 -
    127.0.0.1 - - [19/May/2010:08:10:17 -0400] "HEAD /index.html HTTP/1.1" 200 -
    127.0.0.1 - - [19/May/2010:08:10:37 -0400] "HEAD /index.html HTTP/1.1" 200 -
It appears that it is an internal background process in HTTP server that does this.
Does anybody know what this process is and how I can stop it or just stop it from adding this entry to the log?
    Thanks,
    John Wang

    Roberto,
I checked the file opmn.xml and could not see anything related to this. However, I did find a link which addressed the issue and provided a way to stop it from writing the record in access.log.
How to stop DMS from writing to Access Log
    Thanks,
    John

  • HTTP Server Hangs on Long Running Process

    Hi,
We are having an issue with our production environment where long running processes i.e. > 5 mins will cause the client application to stop responding. We notice that this is only affecting forms which has no activity during the busy period i.e. forms which call a back end DB procedure or function and waits for a response from the DB to say that the process is done.
Checking on the process itself from the DB shows that the process has completed successfully but somehow there's no response back to the client to say that it's completed. As a result, the client will be in busy status forever.
We are sure that the issue originates from the HTTP server because when we by-pass the HTTP server i.e. send the request directly to the Apps server, this behaviour is not happening.
By thew way, we are running on Oracle Forms 11g using Weblogic.
Changes made so far but to no effect:
    maxBlockTime=1800000 (web.xml)
    keepAlive=Off (httpd.conf)
    Timeout=1800 (httpd.conf)
    FORMS_TIMEOUT=60 (formsweb.cfg)
    heartbeat=4 (formsweb.cfg)
    Session-Timeout=30 (web.xml)
Can this be related to network configuration? If yes, what are the things to look for?
    Thanks.

as the response came from the server your httpd service is not getting active for that you
need to keep the httpd service alive so that the response can be obeyed
    just try this
    keepAlive=On (httpd.conf)

  • Single Sign-on and HTTP Server not started

I have installed oracle9iAS on SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 (SLES 8) which is certified by Oracle to run oracle9iAS. Everything was working propely after installation but when I restarted the server, the listener, the iasdb instance, and the EM started properly but when I went to http://servername:1810 and clicked on start all i got them all started but the HTTP Server and the Single Sign-on. When I tried to start the HTTP Server individually i got the following error:
oracle.sysman.emSDK.util.jdk.EMException: The opmn request has failed. From opmn: HTTP/1.1 204 No Content Content-Length: 0 Content-Type: text/html Response: 0 of 1 processes started. Check opmn log files such as ipm.log and ons.log for detailed.
I checked the log and its showing the following:

I tried to start it from command line with the command

    and it returned ADMN-906025
Anyone can help me solving this problem??

This error Can be caused by a syntax error in your httpd.conf file, check it / correct it try reloading OHS.
Ensure that emctl is not running when you run any dcmctl commands! If you have already run any dcmctl commands with emctl running that can cause your problem - if so to fix it solution is really to re-install.

  • HTTP Server fails to starts during E-Business installation

    Hello All,
I am having issues installing e-business suite 12.1.1 on Oracle Linux 6.2.
I have applied all the correct packages (and a couple that were not listed in the installation instructions), applied required patches, upgraded the startCD version to the latest, run the md5sum checks on the Stage directory, and a bunch of manual stuff which it doesn't tell you to do in the installation notes, but you have to do to make it work, e.g. linking unzip 5.x from the startCD to /usr/bin/unzip. I thought that I had it cracked until it failed at the last HTTP Server checks.
I have attempted to restart services manually but it appears as though the HTTP server cannot start due to a missing library libdb-4.3.so:
    HTTP_Server~1.log
    */u01/applR12/inst/apps/<SID>_<HOST>/ora/10.1.3/Apache/Apache/bin/apachectl startssl: execing httpd*
*/u01/applR12/apps/tech_st/10.1.3/Apache/Apache/bin/httpd: error while loading shared libraries: libdb-4.3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory*
There was another post where a similar issue was resolved in a OEL 5 x86.x64 install by applying a i383 gdbm package, and linking the existing library as the document id which you posted suggested.
This package cannot be applied, as I have attempted.
I then started to look for the library which is reported in the logs as being missing, i.e. libdb-4.3.so. This does not appear to exist for OEL 6.
I then looked further afield and found a Centos 6.2 rpm which contained this library. I extracted this and linked it to the libdb.so.2 (patch 6078836).
I am getting the following from the adstrtal.log (I ran the cat command as root not adstrtal.sh which I ran as the application user):
    *# cat /u01/applR12/inst/apps/<SID>_<HOST>/logs/appl/admin/log/adstrtal.log | grep Failed*

    Hello Hussein,
Thank you for getting back to me! As per the installation instructions it states the following:
    # cd /usr/lib
    # ln -s libdb-4.7.so libdb-4.3.so
However there is no libdb-4.7.so library there to link to.
I have installed the db4 i686 & x86_64 packages which contain this library, then performed the above. I then ran the adstrtal.sh command which completed without incident.
As such the Required Packages in the installation instructions should be updated to include the following:
    db4.i686
    db4-devel.i686
    db4.x86_64
    db4-devel.x86_64

  • Question regarding Listener and Server Processes in dedicated server mode

    Good morning,
The Oracle documentation states that when a client connection request is received on the server, the Listener creates a Server Process which will work with the database instance to carry out the tasks requested by the user/client process. So far, everything good.
Now, when the user is at the Oracle server itself, the Listener does not need to be running to establish a connection to the database. It is therefore possible to stop the Listener and still connect using sqlplus and a valid username and password.
In the above case, the question is: if the Listener is not running, what/who created the Server Process that communicates with the database instance on behalf of the user ? Stated a different way, in the normal case, the Listener would get the request and create the server process. When the Listener is not running what part of Oracle gets the requests and creates the server process ?
Clarification on how this case is handled is much appreciated, thank you,
    John.

When using bequeath protocol the server process is created by the client process: it's the client process that is using ORACLE_SID and ORACLE_HOME to compute shared memory key (under UNIX) to know which SGA to attach (i.e. which instance to connect to):
    Example with SQL*Plus :
    $ ps -fu oracle | grep DB112

If the client and database exist on the same computer, then a client connection can be passed directly to a dedicated server process without going through the listener. This is known as a bequeath protocol. The application initiating the session spawns a dedicated server process for the connection request. This happens automatically if the application used to start the database is on the same computer as the database.

  • HTTP Server is not currently supported with Solaris 10

I am having a problem to start the HTTP Server on Solaris 10 (I am installing HTTP Server as part of HTMLDB installation on Solaris 10).
I had a problem to install it at first, however I've found on 'AskTom' that unsetting ORA_NLS33 helps and it did. Now I can't start the HTTP server and I've found on metalink that 'HTTP Server is not currently supported with Solaris 10, this is targeted for Q2CY05'.
    Has this been fixed yet?
    Thank you for your time.

  • Oracle database (10.2.0.4) and HTTP server / HTML DB conflict

    Hi there,
I installed a fresh 10.2.0.1 (patched with 10.2.0.4) oracle database on Oracle Entreprise linux 5.7, and HTTP server + HTML DB products from the companion CD. Both are located in different home directory:
    ODB:  $ORACLE_BASE/product/10.2.0/db_1
    APEX: $ORACLE_BASE/product/10.2.0/apex
I just discovered that logs files ($APEX/opmn/logs/) have filled up my entire disk this week end. After some googling / digging, I've read that there is a conflict between the ONS services that run for both products on the same port. Opening the configuration files of both products:
    +$ODB/opnm/conf/ons.config+
    +$APEX/opnm/conf/opnm.xml+ (btw, ons.conf is empty)
I indeed saw that they both use port 6113 as local port and 6200 as remote port. The workaround I've found in variuos places is to either change the port number, or unsuscribe ONS for the database listener (and sometimes both).
Question 1: what is the best solution ? what are the consequences for the database listener in case of unsuscribtion ?
I also saw that opnm.xml in APEX configuration file is making use of the $ORACLE_HOME environment variable, which I define in my /etc/profile as $ORACLE_BASE/product/10.2.0/db_1. So I guess the opnm of APEX is looking at the wrong place... Yet if I change ORACLE_HOME in my /etc/profile, I won't be able to run dbstart upon stgartup, as it is run using ORACLE_HOME in a init.d script...
Question 2: Can someone clarify things up about the exact relationship between oracle database and HTTP server ? How should I deal with ORACLE_HOME environment variable, which one use it and when... ?
Note that I'm completely new to Oracle (and hence APEX).
    Thanks in advance!

There should be no conflicts - except for configuration ones.
Oracle is multi home capable. Thus multiple Oracle s/w products installed into different homes and these products running side by side.
The conflict is system resources - like a TCP port. That port cannot be shared by multiple processes. So you need to make sure that each s/w component that needs a TCP listener end-point, has a unique port number allocated for it to use.
As mentioned, the Oracle Apache server is an Oracle client with respect to Oracle client-server architecture. It simply needs a client OCI driver to connect to the Oracle database instance. So whether you run Oracle Apache on the same server as the database instance, or on another server all together - this makes no difference. The Oracle Apache s/w will be using its home for running. It has no need for anything from the database instance's home directory. Thus there are no conflicts - as long as you correctly keep them separated and not set the wrong home for the wrong component or include the wrong path (to another home's executables).
OK, so to summarize a bit:
    - I should just be carefull when running startup script which will launch all services upon startup, i.e. changing the value of ORACLE_HOME before running each product startup script (dbstart => ORACLE_HOME = (..)/10.2.0/db_1, opmnctl => ORACLE_HOME = (..)/apex). I'm still quite worried because ORACLE_HOME is heavily used in opmn.xml but anyways.
    - That's basically it: when each product's services are running, they do not use ORACLE_HOME (and such) anymore, hence no conflict from this point of view.
Also do not attempt to use IPC connectivity between the mod_plsql Apache module and the database instance. Does not make sense ito performance. Shared server should be considered and localhost TCP connectivity can be used.Well as I don't really know IPC yet, so hopefully I won't get into troubles. Just to be clear about that, i've this in my listener.ora:
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
    (ORACLE_HOME = /opt/oracle/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1)
    (PROGRAM = extproc)
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = apex.nwk)(PORT = 1521))
Does that mean that ICP will be used somehow ?
    Thanks again from your help.

  • Error calling a webservice from one server process of the cluster

    Hi ,
I have a servlet which on startup makes a call to a webservice. I deploy this webapp on the cluster.
The cluster has two instances each instance having one server process.
So when the server restarts one server process on one instance calls the web service the other process on other instance fails with a 503 response code.
When I tried to reproduce the same problem using two server processes on the same instance both processes are able to call the webservice properly.
I am slightly confused as to how different the second scenario is from first one as both are individual server process and may or may not run on same instance.
Can anyone tell me the real cause.

  • HTTP Server - Win2K and Oracle 8.1.7 and 9iAS

I have a problem with the APACHE WEB SERVER on Windows 2000 Server. It does not come up - I get "error 1067 - process terminated unexpectedly". I have installed Oracle 8.1.7 and installed 9iAS with no errors, using the 101 Web Apps book. However, I get the above error. Also, when I go to a dos prompt, I got "Can't locate Cwd.pm in @INC (@INC contains: .) at (eval 1) line 1."
Many reboots and reinstalls later with no errors and perusing this site, I have had no luck - I am an expert now in installing and wiping clean of Oracle... I would appreciate if any of you can assist me over the edge (I mean, over the top)...
    null

So, here we are. I have Oracle 8.1.7 on the Windows 2000 server. I have tried everything, including dropping everything twice, trying to install 9iAS portal - then installing Portal 3.0.8. Even just trying to use the HTTP server from 8i. I continue to get the Error 1067 from the Win2K services trying to start the HTTP server. When I go to the prompt and run apache.exe from the apache\apache directory, I get a "Can't locate Cwd.pm in @INC (@INC contains: .) at (eval 1) line 1." message.
    HELP!!
