HTTP VOD cached video

Hello,
We have a digital signage system that references a VOD stream. Every week we that video changes, and the simplest method to update is overwrite the old video with the new video in the Program Files\Adobe\Flash Media Server 4.5\webroot\vod directory. Our digital signage system simply looks for the same .mp4 filename at scheduled intervals. Our issue is for some reason it appears the Adobe Media Server is caching the VOD .mp4. Even though the video has the same file name, the content is different. But when played back through a web browser, it shows the old video. If I scrub forward several minutes into the video, the correct content displays. I've ruled out the digital signage system because I get the same results on several other computers.

Yes I have cleared my browsers cache, and tried on several other computers with the same results. So I think we can rule out that the viewing computers is not caching the content. Were do I find the configuration for caching on the server?

but at the same time I want them to have the benefit of jumping
anywhere on the timeline to see only the part they are interested
in without downloading complete video (which can be done only

The answer is "HTTP Streaming". In fact you don't need FMS if
you wish
to allow users to cache videos. You can use any webserver
with
PHP/MySQL. AFAIK, Google Video works just in this way. You
can find
some brief description of how HTTP Streaming works for

Content Engine caching video content?

I am currently running ACNS version 5.5.11.2 on a CE510 Content Engine. I recently had to replace the unit and when I set up the partitions for the new build, I elected to go with CE510#disk config sysfs 10% cfs 45% mediafs 45%.
Before the cfs was setup to use the whole box. I was thinking that the mediafs partition would start to cache video content. Does that happen automatically or is there some other setting to make that happen further. How do I determine if it is getting any use?

A content engine can cache files transfered via ftp but not https [as the content is encrypted].
It can cache whatever file, including video, audio, ...
Content routing, content switching are just names.
They refer to how the traffic will be intercepted and forwarded to the content engine.
You could simply use a proxy solution and have your users setup their browser to use the content engine as a proxy, or you could transparently intercept http/ftp traffic via a router running wccp, or you could use a Layer7 device like a CSS to intercept the traffic and redirect to the content engine.

How to create encrypted HTTP Live Streaming Videos?

Does Compressor4 have any features (or scripts that can be run post-compression) to create encrypted HTTP Live Streaming Videos?
It works great for creating UNencrypted ones, but I need to make some encrypted ones also.

I found it out: You have to use "New Batch From Template" and choose “HTTP Live Streaming". Then you have to create a new folder where the output goes to in the "Information" window. There is also a checkbox which instructs Compressor to create a "readme.html".
Then a folder for every quality setting is created, where all the .ts files go to and the playlist files as well. Works like a charm, as soon as you found out how to do it.

Clearing cached video files

Hi everyone, Im getting the error 50 message when trying to download films from itunes to my computer, Ive located the download folder
and moved the .tmp file to the recycle bin but not emptied the recycle bin, But can anyone tell me please exactly how do i clear
or delete the cached files from the download folder? I know how to delete the temporary internet files etc using the tool in internet explorer
but im not sure how to delete/clear the cached video files from the down load folder.
Regarding using itunes i have imported some music into itunes music library with no problem
i have also downloaded some apps from itunes with no problem [both backed up to my computer]
but as soon as i try films, First of all i cant watch the preview trailers for the films they wont play and my screen just goes black.
i have downloaded the latest version of itunes and real player and last night i used misconfig tool, and disabled a lot of non essential
things from automatically loading/ booting themselves at start up [i was already getting the error 50 message before i did this so its not something i have messed up in there] I also checked in system manager and couldnt see anything using up excessive cpu usage in there,
I also uninstalled zone alarm, And disabled my anti vitus [panda cloud], and i stopped winpatrol from loading itself at start up not sure if i disabled it,
im not sure if i disabled my iobit or malwarebytes malware fighters.
i also went onto google and removed all the accelerators i could find
But i keep reading that if the problem in itunes is only with films/movies then deleting the.tmp file and empyting or clearing the video cache files in the download folder should solve iot which is why i was asking exactly how to clear/delete this cache as im not sure how to do this.
Lastly can i say that im using about a seven year old computer its running windows xp service pack3
its got a amd athlon xp 2800+ 2.07ghz 2.00gb of ram
the hard drive has a total space of 114gb with 92.2 gb of free space.

With iTunes closed you can delete the contents of iTunes\iTunes Media\Download to clear up any orphaned files or partial downloads.
With iTunes open use Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Reset Cache to, um, clear the cache.

Http request caching

Hi folks,
I'm new here.... !
We've just deployed an application to wl 9.2 and are seeing some strange behaviour.
We have a calendar widget that does an ajax request each time a cell is clicking to load some data. However... in IE when a cell has been loaded, reclicking the cell returns cached data. In firefox it redoes the request.
is there a setting somewhere in wl config to disable this? it seems very strange... all works as it should in tomcat though....

Hi,
You should set the HTTP headers "Cache-Control" and "Pragma" to "no-cache" in the response. If this does not work, you have to change the configuration on IE not to cache the response, or just add a dummy parameter to the request URL.

Where does Firefox cache videos? (I checked the Cache foler. Not there)

The FireFox' disk cache foler is set to ''D:\Cache'' (I set it so from about:config).
I cleared the disk cache, watched a YouTube video (almost 2 minute long), then looked into ''D:\Cache''. But the video I had watched was not there! (I found two .SWF files. But their sizes were smaller than 250K. And, stand-alone SWF players couldn't play them. Therefore, they can't be YouTube videos.)
So, where does Firefox cache videos?

Firefox doesn't cache videos on disk. The Flash player that plays the videos is in the cache, but the videos are streamed and not saved. They may be kept in the memory cache during the play.
You can check the cache on the about:cache page.

I use https and youtube videos show "an error occured, try again", i try clearing the cache and cokies, i try uncheck the hardware acceleration but no result

also i try set the security.ssl.allow to true but no result.

Does this happen in Safe Mode or with extensions/plugins disabled? [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]]
[Try the add on HTTPS Everywhere and disable youtube.com in the HTTPS Everywhere rules and I can watch YouTube videos in this Firefox profile as long as it's not over SSL]
In youtube you can also try to change the video quality or disable hardware acceleration.

Is it possible to salvage cached videos from iPhone?

I have videos that I've downloaded (cached) from YouTube to my phone using a downloader app on my iPhone 5. Since I upgraded to the 5s, I've tried finding all the videos again using the same app but some of them have since been deleted from YouTube, and the only copies I have are cached in the app on my 5. I have first searched everywhere on the internet with no luck, then tried to find a way to get them off my phone and save them somehow. And after searching for a few days the only solution I can come up with is to set up a camera and record the screen of the 5. I will do that if I have to, but I want to see if there is any other way before I go that route. Plus the only decent camera I have is on the 5s and I was going to use that but the audio wouldn't come out too good. If anyone out there can help me at all I greatly appreciate it. I want to get this done as soon as possible so I can restore the phone and sell it. Thanks!

HTTP Session caching possible using WL7 JAX-RPC ?

We're using WL7, and using the JAX-RPC API to access external webservices.
Basically, we create the appropriate 'stubs' from the target WSDL using
clientgen. Then we invoke the target method. Code looks something like this:
Client_Impl client = new Client_Impl; // implementation of target
ClientPort_Stub stub = client.getClientPort();
stub._setProperty(javax.xml.rpc.Stub.ENDPOINT_ADDRESS_PROPERTY, url)
stub.invoke(args);
Now, when is the actual endpoint URL being created ? Is it when the invoke()
method is called ?
It cannot be during the constructor since I pass the target URL after that ...
My problem is that I have to call the 'invoke' method quite frequently, and hence
would like the HTTP session to be reused, rather than recreated each time. Right
now,
I construct the stub each time I have to call the target method, and I'm wondering
if
I just cache the stub and keep calling the target method each time, will the underlying
HTTP session be reused ? Any ideas ?
Currently, if I do netstat on my Sun Solaris box (where this runs), I see the

connection being recreated during each invocation ...

You can do multiple invokes on the same stub. There is no
need to create a new one for each invoke.
WLS 7.0 use HTTP 1.0 with keep alive. If the server respects
HTTP keep alive, then WLS will not create a new connection.

Safari does not cache videos

Every time I visit a page with movies (quicktime even), Safari reloads the video as if there is no cache. If I use Firefox it does not need to reload the video, it just automatically plays the video from the cache. If I watch Apple Trailers or visit my own .mac website where I have uploaded my iWeb Quicktime films, I have to re-download movies every time I visit the page. I'm not pressing reload, I do have a 400MB cache set in Quicktime pro, I have the same problem on my iMac and my MacBook Pro, and like I said, Firefox does not have this issue. My Quicktime Pro Browser preferences are set to "play movies automatically" and "save movies in disk cache". I am using Safari 3.0.4. I have tried emptying the cache and starting over but I never get a movie to play that I've just viewed without waiting for it to load again. I am in China at the moment, but that shouldn't affect anything since Firefox is caching my movies.
Any ideas to solve this?

I wish I had the answer for you, because I posted a similar complaint weeks ago. Safari doesn't seem to cache images either. If I go to a page that's dynamically generated, then click a link on it, then use the back button, the original page reloads with all new content, instead of just going back to what was there before. It's very annoying.

Can I generate an HTTP POST event after a Presenter video completes?

Before I copy the file into my app, I certainly know what I am doing and how it work. I did the neccessary configration in my app in order to make it work fine.
Moreover, I have created a lov using model provided from demo app in design time and it work fine:).
But when I generate the lov in backingbean I got the exception rather than what I want.
I think there is no neccesary for me to put the demo app's code here, as I do not think the it is the reason for my problem. And it's too long(over 800 lines).
What I worry about is that is it the right method to setModel for the component in backingbean, and is it work for my requirement?
Or is there any other way to achive my goal?

Play video (http) works, stream video (rtmp) does not; edge server not starting

However, I think the problem is the edge server not starting.
I looked in the logs directory and found the core log, the master log.
I also found /var/log/messages.
Shouldn't there be an edge log?
