Hub 3 queries

Although I am signed up for FON and accepted by FON my HUB3 still states "BT Fon not active on your BT Hub" ?
While trying to correct the above and upgrade password my Broadband username changed  on my HUB3 and I can't change it/revert to the original Broadband username?
Am I supposed to be able to connect to internet even when HUB3 is on orange power light/power save?

Go to the BTFon website, opt out and then immediately opt back in. This will then request the BTFon activation signal to be sent to the hub - allow up to 72 hours for it to show active.
While trying to correct the above and upgrade password my Broadband username changed  on my HUB3 and I can't change it/revert to the original Broadband username?
Enter the hub manager via this link - http://bthomehub.home/
Click Disconnect (BB light will go amber), then navigate to settings, then Internet.
Click on reset Username (it should then display [email protected])
The hub will automatically re-connect to the BB (BB light will flash amber and red a few times, then blue)
Am I supposed to be able to connect to internet even when HUB3 is on orange power light/power save?
When power save is manually set, then yes but only by Ethernet
The hub does automatically go in to power save mode after 5mins of inactivity.

  • Open Hub queries

    Hallo Experts,
I would like to get some help on questions related to Open Hub for BW30.
    May I know:
    1. From the OpenHub Model (Execution-Time), the Data Packages are IN & OUT. Are these what are referred to as Structures /BIC/CY<> and /BIC/CZ<> ?
    2. What is the practical way commonly used to manage the flatfiles for Open Hub given that names cannot be changed.
    3. What situation will cause the fields of an infoprovider to not appear in the Selection tab of infospoke? I cannot see the fields nor set them there.
    4. Can DBConnect be used to transfer OpenHub table to external DW/Datamarts?
    regards,
    Mirella

    Hi, Michael -
I apologize for taking so long to respond - I hadn't bothered to check if there was a response.  I believe your question is asking the difference between the solution to use literal filename vs. logical.  If this is the question, the difference is that the literal filename will open up the file name/path parameter on the infospoke screen and allow a user to directly specify a custom entry rather than the alternative to set it up using tables.  I originally started by implementing the logical filename/path;however, my client did not want to have to maintain the table which required user access.  I hope that answers your questions - feel free to contact me if you have further questions/comments Thanks!

  • Cable and Hub queries

    Hello All,
I am a BT Option 2 customer who recently signed up for Gold Pack vision. Received my box this week but am confused as I received a Home Hub 2 with the vision box, but already have a Home Hub 3 so need to arrange to return the option 2 as I don't need a door stop.
Also, the power cable provided with the vision box is two big to fit into the power socket on the back of the vision box, so Im alternating the cable used with the Sky box to the vision box. I rang up to ask about a replacement power cable and was told they don't send them separately.
Does anyone have any ideas as I don't want to get charged for a second hub when I have one which works fine with my broadband (in fact gives me a third higher speed than when I was with Sky!!) and with vision.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Simon

    Hello,
Dont worry about the HomeHub, they are nearly always added to BT Vision orders just in case you dont have a Hub, you wont be charged.
Regarding the power cable; send a message to the mods [email protected] include your account number, name, address and full description of the problems you are having and they'll get it sorted, if you dont want the Hub then they'll be able to order you a pre-paid returns pack which you take to the post office.
    Hope this helps

  • Home Hub 3 Firmware update stops DNS queries and m...

I am getting very poor service after 5 phones about my incident 1403**-******.  The staff cannot understand my problem even though I have explained in clear technical detail.  Basically a firmware update has caused my BT Home Hub 3 to have very slow management web interface and fails to handle DNS queries.  It connects to the Internet Fine.
The Home Hub has been rebooted and reset many times and no improvement.
    Help BT.

I have been DNS having problems with two Chromebooks accessing the internet ever since the latest firmware upgrade to my HH3 on 15 March - calls to BT went over their heads they just blamed it on the Chromebook as no other devices were having problems despite the fact that I made it clear that the problem only started after the latest upgrade - the muppet dealing with the problem even went as far as to say that BT does not support more than 6 devices connected to the hub at anyone time.
I found that the DNS problem does not affect you if you switch from the HH to BT FON even when you are on your own network.
I finaly got round the problem on the chromebooks by going into the settings page on the Chromebook, opening the HH3 settings and selecting  the option to use 'Google name servers' from the 'Network' tab.
It has long been an issue for me that the HH3 does not allow me to set my own choice of DNS unless I subscribe to a Dynamic DNS provider from their list - I prefer to use Open DNS to control my network as it allows me to filter out content across the whole network but to do this I would need to replace the HH and that would mean I would lose the Vision service

  • Defective Home Hub 5 - how to get a replacement

In addition to all my trouble with BT TV in combination with Infinity 3 FTTP (https://community.bt.com/t5/YouView-box/No-BT-TV-with-Infinity-3-4/td-p/1110464), I also received a faulty Home Hub 5. THe internet connection drops every few minutes and it is completely unusable. As soon as I connect my Home Hub 4 with the same cables, the connection is perfectly stable.
I contacted BT by e-mail and after several useless exchanges telling me that it could have external reasons or the wiring could be the problem (no it can't, as it is working with the HH4), I was asked to provide a time I am at home and reachable, so that someone can call me and check the HH5 connection. This Saturday morning I got a call and was told that they cannot help me as I have FTTP (what a surprise, it is visible in my account and I mentioned having Infinity 3) and they have to transfer me to the Fiber team. The forwarded call got lost after no one picked up and I received this e-mail:
"As per the conversation we had over the phone I have transferred your call to the FTTP desk, as we are from the copper line desk we cannot proceed further to deal this issue. You can also try reaching them at 0800 800 151 (12pm to 8pm Mon - Fri). Please do write back to us for further queries." I.e. I got forwarded to a team that was not even available today.
    So to summarise:
    - It is completely obvious that my Home Hub 5 (I paid £50 for) is faulty and just needs to be replaced
    - Instead BT is wasting my time again and again giving me completely random reasons why it might not work
    - While I mentioned it multiple times and it has to be visible in my account, I apparently was contacted by the wrong team for days
    - While BT offers Infinity 3/4 FTTP they don't seem to have any idea how to support / handle it. They cannot give me BT TV, they cannot even give me any kind of support with a faulty router
It is just absolutely incredible ...

Doesn't help you but why did you buy a HH5 if your HH4 was working OK?
Try a factory reset of the homehub by pressing a pin
into the recess button on the rear for about 20 seconds.
lf that doen't help recontact BT sales where I presume you got the HH5 from and inform them its faulty and you want it replaced or your money back.

  • Poor service and the saga of the Home Hub 2.0

Since upgrading to Total broadband 3 earlier this year, I've had problems with the Home Hub 2.0 (type a).  It keeps locking up/crashing.  Its the home hub rather than the broadband connection, which when used with a Linksys modem router works fine.
I've run through usual fault finding and rectification - hard reset, plugging into test socket, countless line tests.  of course trying to get BT call centre staff to understand its the home hub thats playing up/at fault, not the connection, is like banging ones head against a very hard wall.  For a piece of equipment less than a year old it should work without problem.  And I was tempted to go to PC world and buy a replacement modem, but decided to preserve with  BT's 'help' desk.
Over the past 3 or 4 months I've probably made one help desk call about the same issue each month.  Have to repeat myself time and time again and get fobbed off with another excuse, or promise of call back.
Eventually got through to a supervisor - after insisting when a call log was closed and marked 'resolved' when we were still having the problems and hadn't had a call back.  Repeated my issues for the 4th or so time, went through what I had done to date (restore to factory settings, checking its logs, etc etc)  he finally consented to send a replacement home hub.
I get an email telling me it would be delivered on the 6th before 6pm.  But of course it wasn't.  And I did as the email said, and tried to phone the number to say it hadn't arrived only to get an answer phone message saying the help desk was shut.
So wasted my lunch break today on the phone to BT trying to find out where it was, only to learn that BT had posted it to a previous address which I haven't lived at for 4 years.  Well done BT, it takes real skill to be that rubbish.
Fingers crossed another new one is on its way to the right address.
I have however a couple of questions, which as I can't face phoning the call centre again I thought I'd post on here:
    1) How on earth did BT manage to send  the replacement home hub it to the wrong address?  Especially since the original one was sent to the correct address & my delivery address is set  correctly on the web portal and the agent handling the call confirmed the address? - and what are you going to do to ensure it doesn't happen again (dare I mention data protection - as the home hub pack presumably has some personal details on it..)
    2) In the final call today I was asked for my date of birth and mothers maiden name so they could add it to the account - afterwards having not been asked by BT for this before on countless calls  I wondered is this standard practice - or should I now be worried?
    3) How do you have a sensible discussion with someone - preferably in the UK - about the customer experience?  As mine as has been rubbish (you might be able to tell from the tone of this post), and I'm regretting ever having upgraded and wishing I had instead gone to another broadband provider.
    4) Given that issues with certain models of home hubs seem to be known issues (at least to google) why do the call centre agents always focus on the broadband connection -(typical conversation with an  Agent "..so your connection keeps dropping", Me: "No the connection is fine.  The home hub has crashed again". Agent "So your connection has dropped"? and on and on) rather than actually listening to the customer. (Can you reset it - yes already have, several times  and so on)
Any answers from a moderator would be welcome.
I am actually happy with BT's  broadband product, and don't want to have to go through the hassle of changing provider, I'm just disgruntled at how bad the home hub has been, and how poor the customer service has been.
    Thanks.

    Hi EKandrew,
To be honest I have not heard of the hub locking up before.  The questions you have been asked by our helpdesk are aimed specifically at your connection as most problems tend to occur here, either with slow speed or hub drops etc.
Could you be more specific in how the hub locks/crashes? What do you notice when this happens? What way do you have your connection set up?
As much info as possible would help
    In answer to your questions:
1/ Sometimes we have an old address still on your account and this has not been updated for packages/correspondance.
2/ Nothing to worry about, we ask these questions for additional security.  If you have quoted your account number previously this is normally enough for most things however the advisor probably just noticed we didnt have this info on file.
4/ As above, this is not a common problem and most issues that come to us are to do with your connection.
    Thx
    Craig

  • BT Home Hub 5 not recognising print server

Decided to approach the forum as I have run out of ideas for fixing this problem.
I originally had a BT Home Hub 3 which worked fine with my HP Designjet 500ps plus using using a wireless HP Jetdirect EW2400 print server. I then upgraded to BT Infinity using a BT Home Hub 5 that's when my problems started.
The hub does not recognise the print server in wireless mode so the following is what I tried to no avail:
    1. The printer setup was updated for the new hub online (192.168.1.75) for new SSID.
    2. Reset hub.
    3. Print server confirmed transmitting.
    BT Home Hub Manager
    4. Re-configured for Ch 11 and 12, preferred Designjet channel.
    5. Changed 2.4ghz & 5ghz to different SSID names.
    6. Unsync 2.4ghz & 5ghz.
    7. Disabled 5ghz.
    8. Tried Port Forwarding to allow access.
    9. AVG Anti-Virus elminated from possible problem.
    10. Ping confirmed 192.168.1.75 inaccessable.
The good point, I can plot using network cable but trailing it through the house to the large plotter is not desireable!
There must be someone else out there with the same plotter and problem so if someone could help it would much
    appreciated.

    Hi Alienr,
Welcome and thanks for posting. Sorry you're having problems. Have you had a a look at How to set up a wireless connection?

  • Home Hub 3 Port Forwarding (NOT)

    Hello World
Ok recived the New Home Hub 3 today, ahead of my Infinity install.
I thought ok lets replace Trusty Home Hub 2 with the 3 as it works both on Std ADSL and Infinity
Super Quick UI and love the GIG port BUT and its a BIGGY (well for ME) !
THe hub is running 4.7.5.1.83.8.48 (TypeA) lastest and greatest, Upnp does work so Xbox works no prob and it can be seen in the FW Log being setup
BUT if you configure port forwarding by hand ie HTTP to 192.168.0.2 DOESNT WORK !!!
I tried using a connected device to forward to and just the IP address BOTH FAIL !
roll back in trusty Hub2 and all work again !
Phoned in and was told after a few minutes on hold (No Problem) to roll back to Home Hub 2 and there should be a Firmware upgrade for the 3 soon to fix this issue.
So now you know if you try it and it doesnt work

    Similar situation here.
I received HomeHub 3 this week. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with the new router. The local networking feels quicker due to the gigabit port (connected to gigabit switch). And the wifi reception is better probably due to the intelligent channel selection.
Similarly, I tried to replicate settings from my old HomeHub 2. I wasn't able to setup port forwarding.
The problem is the router in inaccessible using the external IP address.
I contacted BT Broadband Help desk. I spoke to 2 operators. First told me he would investigate and call me back. Never did. Second told me they were untrained to deal with this sort of queries and suggested speaking to the BT Subscription help line.
So, now I know thanks to you. Waiting anxiously for the patch. Hope it will be out soon.

  • Home Hub 3-- Re-activating BTWIFI and BTFON signal...

I have a Home Hub 3 and some days ago I had to do a factory reset on it. After that I had lost the BTWIFI and BTWIFI-with FON hotspot signals from the hub.
When I logged in to the hub it said “You aren't currently part of the BT FON WiFi Community”.
I found this page on your website: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12987/~/i%27ve-changed-my-bt-home-hub-and-my-bt-wi-fi...
I carried out the instructions to opt out and to opt in again, but after 3 days nothing had happened. There were still no hotspot signals from the hub and if I looked at the hub it still said “You aren't currently part of the BT FON WiFi Community”, despite the fact that if I checked my status online it said “opted in”.
I then called the support number 0800 022 3322 recommended on this forum and got the Indian call centre who told me that home hubs do not have a dedicated hotspot signal and that the problem was due to a lack of hotspots in my area….!!!
I then sent a support message using the BT support contact form describing the above problem and asking if they could re-instate the signals manually. This is the reply I received:
    “*removed
This reply was also from India and needless to say, I did not phone the help desk as suggested, as this was the same number that had failed me previously. It is obvious that BT staff in India are not aware of how BT provide hotspots in the UK.
I opted out and in again once more at that point, but it is now 5 days since my opt in and nothing has happened at the hub.
So my question is, is there a way of contacting someone in BT in the UK who understands the problem and can arrange for the hotspot signals to be re-activated on the hub.
After all, they were de-activated inadvertently, and you would think that it would be in BT’s interests to activate them again as soon as possible.
I have no complaints about the BT broadband service, and I can understand the need for them to use an inexpensive call centre to filter out most of the simple queries, but in situations where the staff do not understand or cannot help they should refer the customer back to someone in the UK qualified to solve the problem.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

All power to the Mods! I had a letter from Stuart this morning saying he had checked my hub status and that it was queued for activation and that it should happen within 48 hours, but by the time I read his letter it was already activated. He thinks it was a combination of luck and co-incidence, but I blame divine intervention.
So I have marked SJTP’s post as the accepted solution. Thank you.
However, it should not be necessary to resort to these forums and the mods to resolve a problem like this, so I am going to suggest the following to any BT employees who might be interested.
While having a call centre in India is an inexpensive way of dealing with most of the problems raised by BT’s clients, there will always be some problems that are not resolved or are advised badly due to the limited training of call centre staff.  At present BT send a customer satisfaction survey after any query of their call centre, but the results are used for their own purposes. What I would suggest is that any unresolved issues at that point should result in the client being given a contact to a UK based technical team so they can have some hope that their issue would be resolved.
This would create a huge boost to BT’s image amongst users and would probably greatly reduce the number of issues on this forum, particularly the ones resulting in negative press for BT.

  • How to activate Open Hub in closed system

    Hello friends
Do you know any ABAP Program, Function Module or any other way to activate Open Hub Destination in closed system (i.e. QA)?
    Cheers,
    A.

    Hi,
I suggest to change the object changeability in the Data Warehousing Workbench.
    T/code RSA1
Go to the Transport Connection perspective
Then click on push button Object Changeability
Here you can find object type DEST (Open Hub Destination). Please change the setting by right clicking, choose Switch Changeability.
Now you will be able to activate the Open Hub Destination w/o having to open the system.
Please refer also to SAP Note 337950 - Queries (including objects) cannot be edited.

  • How to call data from backend ECC system in Gateway Hub System?

    Hi Experts,
We have a scenario where the GR process has to be done on Mobile app. We have a SMP 3.0 and Netweaver gayeway deployed as Hub.
I really need quick pointers on how should we go about  this?
    My queries are mentioned below:
1.I don't see SAP data in Gateway system. So will we need to create RFCs in ECC and call them in Gateway system.
    2. Will we need to install IW_BEP in backend system? Can someone explain its real purpose?
    3. How do we do our data modelling? How do i define it if I don't have my SAP data structures in Gateway system.
Your guidance will really be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Saket.

    Hi sanket,
    Answering to your second question,
IW_BEP Component is used to handle the events and actions activated in the SAP system and to publish these events and actions through SAP NetWeaver Gateway.
The BEP functionality enables you to:
Obtain and publish Business Object Repository (BOR) events without writing code. For example events raised as a result of changes in a business object: because of changes in a sales inventory, an event is raised and published to SAP NetWeaver Gateway.
Obtain and send events for SAP Business Workflow, for example, an event is raised for a workflow user decision step.
Obtain and send events from your code, for example, events raised as a result of implemented customer code, such as BAdI implementations.

  • BT Home Hub 5 problem

I recently got infinity 2 installed in my home on 21/3 and was told that i was able to get 51Mbps. Everything was fine over the weekend always slightly under the speed i was told, until 24/3 where i noticed that it was going a bit slow. I done a speed check to find out I was getting 1-7Mbps on the 2.4Ghz signal but on my phone that accepts 5Ghz signals I was getting 40-50Mbps. This is the same for all of my devices connected on 2.4Ghz speeds of 1-7Mbps. Does anyone know if my Hub is broken?

    Hi CMJ1000,
    Thanks for posting.
Sorry for the issues with your broadband speed.  From your post, it looks like you're using a wireless connection.  Have you tried changing the wireless channel on the Hub?  Here are the steps
Keep me posted how things go..
    Thanks a million,

  • BT Infinity Hub stuck at 2-3 mbps and constant dis...

It first started with the Hub 2 which would constantly disconnect and run slowly from the laptop, playstation, smartTV, BT box, mobile phone a few times every hour. After the poor customer service and days of being told to 'restart the hub' etc etc an engineer was sent out and installed the Hub 3, which seemingly worked.... until a speed check, I have tested the speed every day for the past month and the download speed has never gone over 3mbps and usually sits around 2.5mbps. After weeks of being on the phone and trying to restart the Hub etc they sent a new Hub 3, which when tried to install wouldn't power up at all. The on-demand is constantly affected, and every 3 seconds the spinning triangle will come up and be like that for 10+ seconds. So back to the old Hub 3 which rang in at 2.5mbps. As BT seem so against sending an engineer I don't know what to do, I'm at my wits end with this and feel like going to Sky or Virgin as with BT I've had numerous months of no on-demand and internet at months at a time with no recompense. They keep trying to tell me that our laptop is faulty, except that I've had 3 different friends bring their laptops around and they measure 2-3 mbps, and they still are trying to say it's my laptop.

    Hi AdamAntony,

  • Connection on Home hub v2

I dont know whether someone may help, but...
saturday morning 6 am all connections on hub fine, 2 ethernet pc's and 2 wireless, plus 3 voip phones. Electeician came at 8, turned all power off and replaced consumer unit, checking all wiring etc for certificate. Turned electricity back on finally at around 5 pm and since then cant get any broadband!
hub lights lit ok except phone, which will light occasionally, but everytime try a page, it hangs for ages on all pc's or the broadband light goes out again to orange. Tried different hub, v2 and even v 1.5 etc...tried in master socket, tried in dedicated broadband extension, but all the same. Occasionallly get some pages but very very slow.
Bt sending engineer on thurs, but cant help thinking its all very unusual to have happened since new consumer board, but cant think if there is a link what it is?
    any thoughts?
    cheers tim

    Hi gartn1
what did you have a electrician round at the house for?  I assume there was a probem with the internal wiring?
Could you run a test via www.speedtester.bt.com and post the results?
