Huge flicker issues

I've made a freeze frame from a clip and it's displaying with huge convulsive flickering on a few different monitors. I captured DV NTSC and burned the project with about 3 stills (freezeframe from clips) in the timeline to DVD. I viewed it on a progressive DVD player through a projector and got these flicker/convulse issues with the freezeframes. I figured it was made for interlace (NTSC) and would be fine on a DVD player connected to a tv. Didn't work, and I even get the problem when viewing my timeline in my external monitor connected to the dv deck. Any ideas how to get a freeze frame to play like a freeze frame and not some techno party spasm?

Severe interlacing is usually only an issue when you've attempted to make a freeze from interlaced material that is moving. You will need to eliminate on of the fields with a deinterlace filter.
In the olden days, w'e d bring 60i material into After Effects and place the clip into a 60p comp, interpreting the media to separate the fileds. This made the clip run twice as long, half as fast. Each field was frame. Easy to export still images.

Some of the querys is taking more 15 to 20 minutes to execute the report.

Huge performances issues after EHP5 upgrade

Then unpack the previously provided archive (102.rar) and put the included file (TV303MH.102) on that stick.
Rename TV303MH.102 to 102.rom. Put the atiflash.exe also included in the archive on the USB stick too. Now boot from the stick.
Type atiflash -p -f -noaper 0 102.rom [ENTER] and let it flash the vbios.

Solved the Minecraft flicker issue

SOLVED!
Was having an issue with the intel HD4600 graphics driver flickering every time my son played minecraft. Got a hold of a wonderful HP support guy in India and he and I worked it out.
1. Uninstall the Intel 4600 Driver fom device manager
2. Uninstall java
3. Increase the virtual memory on your computer as much as you can
4. reboot
5. from device manager on the graphics card do the "check for updates" or "update driver". Follow the process until it updates to the intel 4600 from the microsoft standard display adapter (what is interesting is that when it did this on my new pc, it acutally rolled back the driver to a previous version, NOT the version that shipped when I received the PC)
6. Reboot
7. reinstall java
8. reboot
9. Click minecraft and play.
Hope you avoid the time wasted that I had before I finally got through to a real technician in India.
Also you should know that the text "chat" support from HP is horrible. The person there told me that minecraft was just incompatible with my pc. Which obviously it isnt, as my son is now playing it flicker-free.

Captivate 6 Created from PowerPoint - flicker issue

I am using Adobe Captivate 6.0.1.240, and my employer (State of Idaho) is working out the details with Adobe of paying for subscription service to the eLearning Suite.
However, right now I am finishing a project that was imported from PowerPoint 2010, and I have the flicker happening at the beginnings of any slides with animation.
I understand that a patch is available for subscription customers that would fix this issue and bring my version to Captivate 6.1.0.319.
Is there any way that I can get a fix to this problem in advance?
Having the users click “next” on each slide is not a good solution in this course. I really want the users to have the TOC available (which they will not if I have to import my audio to PPT and save it as a .wmv). And I will be hard-pressed to recreate the project in Captivate before the go-live date.
I have to say that the only reason this was created in PowerPoint to begin with is that we anticipated delivering it live via webinar and a last-minute decision has me converting it to eLearning.

Exporting DVCproHD project to SD DVD with flicker issue

I've got a FCP project in DVCproHD format and I want to export it to use in DVD studio Pro for a standard Definition DVD. When I make the DVD, it keeps giving me a flicker, no doubt due to the upper/lower field issue inherent in HD/SD conversion.
So....what do I do to remove the flicker?
I tried changing the preference in DVD SP, but it didn't help.

My sequence is DVCpro HD 1080i60. It's about 97 minutes long. I did a 5 second test with some compressor settings which yielded good results, but when I set the entire show to export with those settings, it said it would take 800 hours. I let it go a long weekend but when I came back in it had over 600 hours still left to go. I finally stopped it, adjusted the quality settings slightly (changed better to good, etc.) and tried again. Flicker came back.
What I seem to be seeing is that in order for the flicker to be gone, the Compressor settings need to be set so high that the exporting time is unreasonable.

Hello, I have a Skype (Baddieisboss) which I have used for over 2 years to run a business. I have accumulated over 5000 contacts throughout the 2 years which were customers and potential customers. Today I woke up, my Skype was logged off and it had said I had been blocked from using Skype. I contacted customer support and they told me I was suspended permanently for solicitation (breach of paragraph 6.3 (c) of the Terms of Use which prohibits the use of the Skype software to send unsolicited communications). I dug into this issue a bit more because I have never spammed anyone for any reason and found out that there was a huge loop hole that people are taking advantage of to close down Skype accounts with ease. All it takes is to make a few fake Skype accounts, add the person and use the report abuse function. The person doesn't even have to accept your friend request for you to do this. Customer service gives you automated messages saying it will not be reversed and to make a new account. Their automated system is very flawed and needs to be addressed as soon as possible. There are many other posts of people who are having the same issue. Russians add you, tell you to pay X amount of money or they will have your account banned, and voila 10 minutes later you're offline.I have tried to contact the skype email several times, they send automated messages and don't care about their customers at all, please help.

New iMAC giving huge latency issues.

HI everybody,
Im new to these forums as I have just recently purchased an iMAC, 3.06Ghz, with 6 GB of RAM for my studio.
Before this I was running an INtel based pC with Pentium processor, which worked as fairly well and absolutely without any latency issues.
Here's the problem:
i hooked up a MAckie ONYX 1640 mixer with Firewire I/O into the iMac and setting anywhere between 64 samples to 128 samples shows me theoretical latency of between 5 to 8 Ms, which is alright, I used to work with similar settings on the OC and it is hardly percievable. The problem is , the Latency sounds much higher!!
Its definitely not 8 Ms. and with lower buffer sizes, obviously the audio starts clicking and popping.
I then hooked the iMac with my Presonus Firebox which iv used smoothly with the PC for three years, without ever having latency issues...but this time too, the IMAC is adding latency and audi coming back from the DAW is very percievably late. Definitely around 25-30 Ms at such low buffer sizes!
Can someone help me out here, in case there s any optimisation to be done for the mac to make audio its top priority etc, and to better performance?

Apparently you had some unrealistic expectations.
Many
plugins
just NEED
a lot of
latency
to calculate the processing to the sound. In fact, there is a rough law stating that you can't have top sonic quality and NO latency using software only, especially mastering compressors and reverbs.
You could try the *Low latency mode* button, it also immediately shows you which plugins have a significant latency, as they will be bypassed in LLM.
This is especially true for 'high end' plugins like Space Designer, AdLimiter, Multipressor and a whole load of others. If you need reverb on voice just to have a 'moral support' when recording, choose a 'simpler' reverb, or, better even, use direct monitoring and a HARDWARE reverb that only adds reverb to the monitoring path.
Plugins are meant more for mixing than for tracking.

Return time on MacBook's with flicker issue

I'm about to ship off my Macbook due to the screen flickering issue that everyone else is having. I'm hoping that others have sent theirs in and could give me an idea on what their return time was? I hope it doesn't take forever...I don't know what I'm going to do without my computer!
Also, after some time of dealing with the flickering of the screen, I've noticed a line right down the middle of my screen causing half the screen to be darker than the other.....is anyone else experiencing this?
I really hope to get some feed back before I ship my precious machine off!

I have had an ongoing saga with apple about this issue. Please read below.
Ever since I owned my black macbook (1st generation) I have had an issue with screen flickering. Every so often the screen would flicker like crazy, at first it happened very seldomly however it became more and more common.
I use my computer for both College and work (video journalist for a major cable news network)- so I really could not bring my macbook in to get fixed because I needed it everyday, when winter break rolled around I figured it would be a perfect time to bring my Macbook to the genius bar for a little TLC.
I was told that although my computer would not be ready before Christmas it would be ready well before New Years... this was fine with me. There would be no assignments I would have to cover, or papers to write before Christmas.
However New Years has come and gone, and I still have almost zero information about the status of my Macbook besides that "parts are on order". I have ALWAYS had great experiences with the Genius Bar- however this time around I have completely disappointed. I have tried to contact them multiple times, I have either been put on hold and disconnected or simply told that parts were on order and to call back later.
In response to this I sent an email to the Apple Store (Rockingham Park)... I never recieved a reply... after not hearing back from Rockingham Park I emailed Apple Corporate... still no reply.
Is there something I am doing wrong? Is there anyone out there who can point me in the right direction? I would be more than happy to simply return my macbook right now and not have to deal with this anymore. I am stuck right now using an old windows PC that does NOT do what I need it to (I do lots of video editing).

I dropped my black Macbook off at the Genius Bar on 12/21/06 to have it serviced. When I dropped the machine off I was told that It would not be ready before Christmas (perfectly understandable) however I was assured that all the parts (LCD Display, Top Case, and Inverter) would be in quickly and I would be able to pick my machine up well before New Years. I called and inquired about the status of my machine late last week and was told that parts were still on order and that parts would have to come in, and my machine would then need to be added to the repair cue.
I can understand the challenges in ordering parts and repairing equipment, I myself worked as Service Manager for XXXXXX and constantly had to order parts and repair $8,000 machines... however in the same breath as a consumer- when I have a piece of equipment that is vital to my business... I want to make sure I have it back in my hands when I am told it will be.
I buy Apple products not because I want to be part of "The Apple Club" but because they generally are reliable and I feel I can count on having the machines being serviced quickly.
I hope there is something you can do to accelerate the process in getting my Macbook back to me ASAP, I am a freelance video journalist for XXXXXX and the '08 candidates are starting to make their trips to New Hampshire... as such- I cover these events and need my Macbook to help me do my job. I would be even be happy with just "returning" the machine and buying another Macbook one on the spot (or perhaps even a Macbook Pro).

2011 i5 2.5Ghz Mac mini screen flicker issue...

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue. I have my 2011 Mac mini connected via HDMI to my TV, and each time I turn the TV on,- after about 5 minutes I get one single flicker where I lose picture and it comes back immediately. This never happened with my 2010 Mac mini connected the same way, which is why I'm surprised.
Again, this only happens once. After I turn the TV off and then back on, it will do the same thing again after 5 minutes. Very odd.

After 3-4 calls to the support the last thing I was asked to open the terminal and digit :
cd /System/Library/Displays/Overrides/DysplayVendorID-410c
push enter. You'll get a warning but you can continue.
Then :
sudo mv DisplayProductID-0 DisplayProduct-0 old
push enter and restart the mac.
the person on the phone told me that this solution is studied for a known issue with Philips screen, and exactly blank screen not fl ickering.
In any case it didn't work for me
I'm starting to think that maybe it's something about new macs and Lion. I have seen discussions in which people complain about flickering issue with the new MBA.
On Monday I'll call the support and then ask for a new mac,still don't know which one,I bought mine less than 14 days ago.
Hope this will be fixed soon.

HELP?!? - iMac 2011 i7 Screen Flicker issue (OSX 10.8.3)

I have a Mid 2011 27" iMac with i7
Since the latest OSX update (OS X 10.8.3 (12D78)) I am getting a very concerning issue where my secondary monitors and my iMac screen 'flicker' and show horizontal bars (green in colour) the audio then seems to stutter and crash before eventually the computer freezes and I have to hold the power button to shut down.
This happens once or twice a day, however a related issue that happens every few minutes is that just my secondary monitors flicker white in places and go completely black for a few seconds at times too.
I have run the Apple Hardware Test and it reported no issues, I also reinstalled OSX from recovery and it is still happening.
I am hoping (praying) this is an issue with OSX and not my hardware. Can anyone shed any light on this - I'm seeing reports of 'similar' sorts of issues with the latest OSX update. But nothing like the issue I mentioned first (the one that forces me to shut down)
I have a Time Machine backup, is it possible to use Time Machine to revert my OSX to 10.8.2 to see if it is indeed the OS that has the issue?

Huge Security Issue

Unless I am missing something, it seems like any user can throw away any folder they want to, even if they have no R/W Permissions at all!!
Is this correct? Is there anyway to stop this huge security problem?
I have been searching for hours on many Unix and OS X Sites, but I have not been able to find any relevant information about this issue.

I have briefly looked into chflags, but there didn't seem to be anything that specifically stopped folders from being deleted.
Sticky Bits sounded like it would give you more control over the contents of the folder, but not the folder itself. Is that correct?
I have not tried Super Get Info, I will check that out. In Workgroup manager there is the Permissions Inspector, and that shows that folders can be deleted. That part of WGM only displays permissions, but doesn't let you set them.
So, I guess I will have to checkout Super Get Info to see what it has to offer.
