Huge InContext Flaw

I am wanting to give my client access to a template in a directory in root. this is not connected to the main site, but will rather be pages for his clients to view the status of a job and password protected by another program where he can add usernames and passwords.
However, there is no way to just limit my client to this directory and all pages within it. It only allows you to access the home page and all linked pages.
i do not want the home page to be the default page, but want to designate my own default page.
this is a HUGE flaw in InContext. Can't believe Adobe overlooked this. I read the entire usere guide - No Dice.
If anybody has a suggestion, let me know.Probably going back to my old setup. Much friendlier and bug free.

Explain your directory structure & site flow (or provide a link to a url). What's the "other" software? How would you normally do this?
Having a hard time wrapping my brain around exactly what it is you're trying to accomplish.

  • App store problem after updating OS to Mavericks.  Ended up deleting app store.  How do I get it back?

    I upgraded to Mavericks.  When I tried to update my apps in the appstore, I was getting prompted to enter in a password for someone else's Apple Id.  I have no idea who this person is and I could not change the ID.  I was logged into the App Store under MY id but for whatever reason when i chose to update an app, I was prompted with this person's ID. I researched this and someone in a forum suggested deleting the app and reinstalling it.  I have app zapper so I zapped the app and I no longer have an app store..  I also have no way of getting the app store back.  Apparently, it's part of Mavericks.  I cannot even reinstall Mavericks because Mavericks is only attainable through the App store.
    I have a big problem don't I?
    I recovered the files that app zapper "zapped" from my trash.  They are as follows:
    One "app store" folder that contains a file called: updatejournal.plist
    One "AppStore" folder that contains a file called: manifest.plist
    And a file called com.apple.appstore.plist
    How can I get app store working again?
    And then there's the issue with this person's apple ID.  How do I get the app store to purge this person's login?  My machine is an Apple Refurbished so perhaps the person who is attached to the store is the person who bought the machine new?  I have no clue.  I do think it's a huge security flaw on Apple's part to expose a stranger's login information
    Help is immensely appreciated.
    Thanks.

    There are a few things you need to do.
    A.
    Remove "App Zapper" according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again.
    B.
    Deleting system components is never the solution to any problem.
    If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
    If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main screen.
    If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode.
    *The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.
    C.
    You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
    Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, the App Store may prompt you to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," but the hacked app may be something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.
    1. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    2. In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
    File ▹ Find
    from the menu bar. In the search window, select
    Search: This Mac
    from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu of search criteria, initially showing Kind. From that menu, select
    Other...
    A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
    Raw Query
    as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
    Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
    4. The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
    At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
    Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.
    If you find these instructions confusing, ask for an alternative method.

  • Speakers on Aluminum 13" Macbook

    Hi, Im pretty new at this whole Mac thing. I just got my Macbook on monday and ive been pretty busy so not until today did i try out the speakers to the fullest and couldnt help but notice that there is a difference between the left side and the right side. The thing is when i change the balance, sound comes from both, but the left seems a little softer and doesnt have as much feedback and the right one. Might this be a hardware problem with the speakers or might this be a problem with the mother board? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I received my new aluminium macbook, I had ordered if from Vancouver, BC was getting nice deal from compu2000.com for (CAD$1349.99 + 5% tax + CAD$19.99 UPS Express) only since I live in Ontario, Canada. Because if you go buy it from bestbuy, it costs CAD$1400 + 13% tax = cad$1582.00
    Anyways I noticed the similar problem, when I first turned it on and heard the Apple sound it seemed to be coming more from the right side. Then I tried to adjust balance of the speaker and found out that left speaker has low bass intensity output, whereas the right speaker has high bass intensity output. I read somewhere else that the subwoofer on these macbooks has been fitted towards the right side which maybe causing this issue. If that is the case the is a huge design flaw by Apple. I am really disappointed.
    I called Apple Tech. support and the guy told me he never heard of such issues and told me that there might be a hardware issue, so I am planning to take it to an authorized service center to hopefully fix this thing.
    Will keep u posted.

    and Im supplying the correct values of websiteitems (75530,75667,75518,75953) and Product.id is integer field, how do i supply when im using IN Statement

    Please post DDL, so that people do not have to guess what the keys, constraints, Declarative Referential Integrity, data types, etc. in your schema are. Learn how to follow ISO-11179 data element naming conventions and formatting rules (you have no idea).
    Temporal data should use ISO-8601 formats. Code should be in Standard SQL as much as possible and not local dialect.
    This is minimal polite behavior on SQL forums.
    This is not a correct schema design; can you fix this mess?
    A procedure is named <verb>_<object>.
    There is no such thing as a “category_id” in RDBMS! A column is “<attribute>_<attribute property>” but this is two <attribute property>'s without an <attribute>. This is like adjectives without a noun!
    Using integers to encode the homepage categories is an awful design. Have you been to a library? Look at the Dewey Decimal Classification system. Noobs never bother to properly design encoding schemes; really hopeless noobs use IDENTITY!
    Aren't websites named and not numbered? What integer did you use to get to this website? See the point?
    There is no such thing as a generic “id” or “name”  or "category" in RDBMS. Table names are collective or plural nouns to show us that they are sets.
    We do not use flags in RDBMS, so your “publication_flag” and “deletion_flag” are both verbs (attributes are noun!) and a huge design flaw.
    Finally, you have made one of the classic Noob errors that most people un-learn in 3rd or 4th week of SQL. You cannot past a string to IN() and expect that string to be parsed for you! Think about how silly that is and get a laugh at yourself. SQL is compiled,
    not interpreted like 1960's BASIC!
    Google my articles on the long parameter list for the procedure. But your real problem is an awful schema, improperly designed in both the DDL and data architecture.
    Post the DDL and maybe we can fix it. But you need to get a book on basic data modeling as well as one on SQL.

  • 30¢ per track for the privilege to upgrade them, seriously

    I am getting this right. No matter what the price (what you paid vs. what it is now) I have to pay 30¢ PER TRACK to get DRM-free and 256k?
    When I purchased an album it was $9.99 at 128k and DRM'd. Now the same album is $9.99 at 256 and is DRM-free but I have to pay 30¢ PER TRACK. That just isn't right. How is that money going to the artist? The additional 30¢ cannot be justified.
    I accepted it for a few albums early on when their price was more than I originally paid. If I bought an album for $9.99 (128k DRM'd) that was now selling for $12.99 (256k DRM-free) I could grudgingly justify paying $3.00 to upgrade the album. But not if they are the same price.
    Am I missing something here?
    Do I need to wait until Apple updates their site to see free DRM-free updates to track I've previously purchased?

    Unfortunately, early adopters always come up short when something better comes along. Even worse, when it comes to digital music, legal purchasers have been burned for years. People who bought music legally were shackled with restrictive files while people who don't buy music download HQ mp3's they can use for any device.
    I think it would have been great if the labels said "Hey, everyone who bought our music legally, free one-time upgrade of your current DRM'd tracks."
    But, that's a pipe dream. Apple wanted to go DRM free years ago, this is the labels' doing. However, why can't we upgrade individual albums or tracks? Terrible implementation. It will cost me nearly a grand to upgrade my library, and then I'll have to re-tag and organize my downloads, as iTunes downloads aren't always tagged to my liking. Being able to upgrade individually would help me do a few at a time. I mean, I downloaded a "Complete" set that is over 500 songs and cost $189... now I have to pay another $175 dollars to upgrade it? There is a huge logical flaw here.
    I understand that not everything is free and something better is always around the corner with anything you buy, but still.

  • Create n tables with different number names

    Hi guys, I work with SQL Server 2008 and OS Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bits. I have to create 10 tables with different names e.g. 'Image1', 'Image2', and so on. For this goal, I use a loop and concatenation. Here is the code:
    DECLARE @i INT
    DECLARE @v_table_n CHAR
    SET @i=1
    SET @v_table_n='Image'
    WHILE (@i<=10)
    BEGIN
        DECLARE @STR VARCHAR(100)
           SET @STR = 'CREATE TABLE SQL_DB_Filestream.dbo.Image1' + @v_table_n + CAST(@i AS VARCHAR(10)) + ' (
           [ID_RowFeatVec] INTEGER NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
           [CF1] FLOAT,
           [CF2] FLOAT,
           [CF3] FLOAT
           EXECUTE @STR
        SET @i = @i + 1;
    END
    GO
    As a result, an error message appears:
    "The name 'CREATE TABLE SQL_DB_Filestream.dbo.Image1I1 (
        [ID_RowFeatVec] INTEGER NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY' is not a valid identifier."
    I have tried a lot of versions but it doesn't work.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Best wishes

    1) An SQL Programmer would write ten CREATE TABLE statements. Are you old enough to know about Rube Goldberg? He was a cartoonist who invented inanely complex device for simple task!
    2) Ten identical tables is a huge design flaw. It is so awful I want to use it in one of my books. Tables are sets. A set is completed whole, or as Cantor said “a many that is treated as a one” (it sounds cool in German or Esperanto).
    3) We hate loops in SQL. This is a declarative language. I will bet you have no idea what that means.
    What you want to do is mimic a magnetic tape file system from the 1950's. We used to put a label on the tapes based on the date or a sequence number. Not a completed whole.

  • Why can't pages handle my large file?

    I have a file that I'm working on in Pages that is 317 pages (currently 11,000 words. I'm getting frustrated, though, because each time I try to open it or click back into it from another program, it takes forever to load. Is there some way to clean up my document to make it faster, or something else I can do to make this opperation go more smoothly? Is pages known for having a hard time with files that big? Thank you for any help!

    I'm not surprised.
    I wrote many times that iWork applications are snails.
    From my point of view they suffer of a huge design flaw. The behave as if they were recalculationg the entire document at every change.
    Unique workaround available at this time :
    split the document in smaller ones.

  • LDAP - Retrieve username & password

    Hi,
    I want to retrieve the username and password from LDAP server for the respective userId which is passed as an input. I am using javax.naming security package in java (1.6). Please help me how we can go about this? any examples or links are really appreciated.
    Thanks.

    You can use DBMS_LDAP to query Active Directory
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/oid.1111/e10186/dbmsldap_ref.htm#OIMAD009
    I am not sure if you can retrieve a password; as this would be a huge security flaw I guess the answer to that is no. But you can use dbms_ldap to authenticate against Active Directory.
    Samples can be found on google:

  • No pdf thumbnail preview in Windows XP Explorer

    I have searched and tried many different fixes to this issue and have had no luck in finding a solution.
    I have over 700 PC's that due to a huge security flaw is forcing me to upgrade from our current version of Adobe Reader 8.1.0 to the 'fixed' version of 9.1.3.
    Due to the huge number of PC's I have this all being done with automated scripts.  The issue is not with the deployment, but the funcationality of PDF thumbnails.
    Once upgraded, the PCs can no longer see a thumbnail view of the PDF's.
    Let me start with the method of upgrade.
    - I began with creating and admin install of Reader 9.1
    - I then applied patch 9.1.2 to that admin install.
    - After that I then applied the 9.1.3 patch as well.
    - Using the -r option I created an answer file (setup.iss) file for the install.
    - I then pushed the installation silently to all the machines.
    I thought that this was simply due to the fact that they were upgraded, meaning that the 9.1.3 install had to first remove 8.1.0 and it may not have been done cleanly.  However, I ran the same install on a PC that had NO Adobe products on it whatsoever and yet it still has the same issue even though it is a 'clean' install.
    Things I have  tried.
    - I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the package.
    - I have tried re-creating the Admin Image and re-installing it.
    - I have tried associating PDFs with notepad, then back to Adobe Reader.
    - I have re-registered the pdfshell.dll file.
    - I have run the Repair Installation utility.
    My guess is that there has to be a simple registry entry or .dlll file that is causing this.

    I have the same issue, currently running acro 9.3 and reader 9.3  under vista pro - I tried de/reinstalling reader but it did not help any. Its a pity there is no support or even any correspondence by acrobat - this forum has more than ten threads dealing with this.
    Kind regards,
    Aurel

  • How do i skip process validations and still update the model?

    how do i skip process validations and still update the model? This has got to be a bug or a really huge design flaw. And no I don't want to using 'binding' to bind to every component on my form just so I can set its value. I just want to use value binding.
    Perhaps there should be a FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().updateModel() method?

    how about if I want clear the form or load a new model:
    <h:commandButton action="#{customer.clear_action}" immediate="true" value="clear" />
    <h:commandButton action="#{customer.load_action}" immediate="true" value="load" />
    public void clear_action() {
    Customer c = new Customer();
    this.setBean("customerModel",c);
    FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    context.renderResponse();
    public void load_action() {
    Customer c = new Customer(1000);
    this.setBean("customerModel",c);
    FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    context.renderResponse();

  • Can't PW protect email accounts?  This thing is useless

    What's to prevent everyone in my house from snooping my email accounts or vice versa? From what I can tell, looks like there's no way to password protect or require input of a pw to get access to an account. What a HUGE design flaw. maybe I'm missing something and some nice person will politely show me how it's done.

    You are absolute right. It's an awful design flaw. It's OK that different users can't have their own protected accounts, but it's a bug that You can't protect Your own account.
    Either You lock everything and type Your code for chats, a look in the news, the weather, your movie magazine, a short game during commercial spots ... or everybody can read Your mails. I think we should organize something against that very arrogant company.
    A lot of people here are employers from Apple that are paid for bashing against critics or Applefanboys.
    But I think if all unsatisfied iPad users are blogging against Apple. Writing to their politicians or try a class action lawsuit. We have a chance against Apple. I think You should write Your critique down everywhere, so that more and more people buy other devices and Apple looses a lot of money. Maybe they start thinking about their customers.

  • Viewing both RAW and JPEG files in iPhoto (or somehow on a Mini)

    I'll be traveling later this year and I'm looking to get a tablet so I can view and do some light editing of my images while I'm on the road.
    If I use the new Apple SD card reader to download image files from my camera to the iPod Minin, it is my understanding that by default it brings over both the RAW and JPEG versions of the same images (my camera is taking both types with each image).
    Will these then show up as two separate images in iPhoto? The reason I'm asking is because if I have to bring over the RAW files, I want some way of then deleting them off my iPad because they take up to much HD space.
    No one I've talked to at Apple seems to know if there's a way to bring over just the JPEG files I want when using the SD card reader, which seems like a huge oversight in functionality to me.
    Thanks. David

    Leonie, you have pretty much confirmed what I found out as well.
    When using the Apple SD card reader there is no way to only import JPEG files when there are corresponding RAW files on the card. The iOS or photo import app treats them as one image and imports both files together, regardless of the fact that most apps will not read or edit the RAW files and also that they take up a huge amount of space.
    I've only found one way of getting rid of the Raw files, but still 'keeping' the Jpegs: import them all to the iPad, then edit the images in an app like Snapseed, then do a 'save as' (which Snapseed does by default) so you've created new Jpeg files; you can then go back and delete the originals.
    That seems like a whole lot of work to get around the iPad's lack of functionality, and because of this I'm looking at an Asus Nexus 7 tablet instead. Besides all this, the Nexus allows me to copy files back to a flash drive or memory card, adding to it's usefulness.
    I think this is a huge design flaw on Apple's part. It's one they could easily fix by giving you a choice to only importing the Jpeg files, or just Raw or both. Not a big deal really.
    I sort of grok the 'paradigm' behind it, which is to have people work with data, images, or projects, and not files. But in this case, it is not serving people, especially more serious photographers. It makes me suspect if the developers even asked photographers what they would need from the iPad--sort of placing it back in the toybox, as opposed to being a real tool for photographers.
    Regards, David.

  • Ran out of internal usb

    I just got a system going for my friend and added an internal card reader (6 in 1 compact flash memory stick etc) and It came with an internal USB wire but don't have room in my mobo for it. Is there a internal to external wire or adapter I could get? or pci card ? also this tower has 4 USB ports in the front...but have no place for the wires either...The mobo has 8 ports in the BACK!!!  (6 on the mobo  and 1 in the pci) some one help me before my friends start laughing at me.

    This is a huge design flaw IMO.  The intel chipset supports 8 USB ports, and MSI put 6 of them on the back panel (and no FireWire port).  Who has 6 devices plugged into the back?  Anyone with so many has a USB hub.
    For my 6-1 card reader, I just left one of the USB ports unplugged so the reader could take it.  If your friend's "PCI USB" is just the bracket with wires going to the mobo inside, remove it and use those for the reader.

But it sounds like a huge security flaw. Please explain the business process involved here. Who is logged on to the database when this new userid is dynamiclly created? What controls are in place to prevent an un-authorized creation of a new user? How are the credentials of the newly created user transmitted to the person who will be using said credentials?

    I shelled out the $50.00+ for the new aluminum keyboard.
    It does not work when connected with my Iogear KVM switch.
    Anyone know of a solution? I have been searching for hours, and cannot find anyone who has asked this question.
    I know there are new KVM boxes that don't force you to connect your mouse and keyboard separate. I always wondered why they had to be plugged in separately. Seems like a HUGE design flaw.
    I want to plug in my keyboard into one USB port on the KVM and plug the mouse into the keyboard, like it should be.
    ANY HELP?????
    PLEASE????

    I wish I had read this thread before going out to buy my new aluminum keyboard. Same trouble (with IOGear 2-port KVM switch)
    I just found a review of the keyboard on Amazon which may explain the problem:
    *+One word of warning, this keyboard does not appear to work with my IOGear GCS632U KVM. Normally, keyboards with LED backlighting have trouble with unpowered USB KVM switches. This apple keyboard appears to just be a simple keyboard & 2 port hub, just like the last few apple keyboards, so I'm a little surprised that it doesn't work.+*
    +*... Since this keyboard is a USB 2.0 device, the KVM issue may simply be that the IOGear KVM doesn't speak USB 2.0.*+
