Hyperion 9.3.1 to Office 2010

Is there any workaround for opening the files exported to excel from 9.3.1 workspace? Currently whenever I try to open excel says the files is corrupted and does not open it

In case someone else runs into the same problem, try saving the file and then opening it. That worked for me.

You should always use official documentation for support details but I am pretty sure Windows 7 support was not available for the EAS client until 11.1.1.3.

  • Smartview 11.1.2.1 and Office 2010 on Citrix error closing word 2010

I have installed Hyperion Smartview 11.1.2.1.0 on a Windows 2008 R2 terminal server (with citrix xenapp 6) with Office 2010 (32 bits).
when i launch Microsoft word 2010 and close it i get the following error: Word cannot save this file because it is already open elsewhere (normal).
does anyone have an idea what this could be? when i disable the smartview add-in i dont get the error.
I use Roaming Profiles for the users.

Smart View and Citrix is a quirky combination. I've observed other strange behaviors in Smart View when using it on Citrix.

  • Essbase Excel Addin on 64 Bit Windows 7 and 64 bit Office 2010

    Hi Everyone,
I have installed 11.1.2.2 on server with Essbase and Shared Services.
Now, on the client I have 64 bit Windows 7 and 64 bit office 2010.
I tried installing Excel Addin client only (without Essbase client) and restarted machine after install.
After install Addin didnt come up automatically and i tried to manually set the add-in, I'm getting an error "This is not a valid add-in"
Is it because i am using 64 bit of office and have to go back to 32 bit.
Isnt 64 bit supported for latest 11.1.2.2 Essbase ?
Any ideas or experience in this regard will be helpful to me as our company is going for Windows 7 and Office 2010 across the business users and if 64 bit Office is not supported or has issues i would have to suggest them to go with 32 bit Office 2010.
    Thank you.

for 64 bit i guess its not avaiable for 2010 excel
but you can download 9 version or 11.1.1.3 with patch below is link.. its just a client ~~~

  • Export in Query ready mode - Office 2010 not working

    Hello everyone,
I am facing the following problem with Hyperion Financial Reporting:
When I display a Financial Reporting report in Workspace and click on "Export in query ready mode", a new Excel session is launched with an empty sheet and nothing else happens. Eventually Internet explorer displays a message "The application hasn't started yet. Do you want to wait?" This cycle repeats forever unless I close the small IE window that popped up.
We are using Windows 7 and Office 2010. The Smart View version is 11.1.1.3.500 (Build 008) and Workspace is version 11.1.1.3.0.956.
Would be very grateful if anyone can help me solve this issue as this function is very useful.
    Thanks,
    Martin

    Alright,
There is some development with this problem, but unfortunately another one arose.
To solve the issue I had to disable the option "Protected mode" for the Internet Zone of Internet Explorer. Although the App server is on the local intranet, to launch Excel the web page uses the protocol oraclesv:// which appears to IE as "Internet" address.
When I disabled protected mode, some of the reports started to open normally in query ready mode. Unfortunately for some other reports Excel crashes. I.e. I open the report in workspace and click "Export in Query ready mode". I see Excel open up and the cells are filled in with members, etc. but at some point Excel just crashes and restarts. This can be destructive if I am currently working in some file.
And now the interesting part: I tried to find the reason why some of the reports are ok and some crash excel. It turned out that this depends on the amount of data in the report. For smaller reports (i.e. less than 50 rows) there is no problem, but for larger reports -> excel crashes.
I hope this explanation is helpful for someone else, as it took me quite a while to find the problem.
    Martin

  • EPM 11.1.2 with Windows 7 and Office 2010

    Hi all,
We are getting majorly upgraded to Windows 7 and Office 2010 soon. We use EPM 11.1.2 suite of products. Will all the end-user web applications still work?
I already found out that Smartview 11.1.2 is not supported for Office 2010.
Does anybody have experience working with 11.1.2 and Windows 7?
    Thanks,
    Sujani

According to Oracle Support, KB ID 1191235.1, there is Office 2010 suport for 9.3.3 and 11.1.1.3.02. That release is patch 9889521 and is for SmartView only.
Havnig said that, people seem to be using it:
    Essbase excel add-in 11.1.2 with office 2010 Excel ?
Re: Hyperion Essbase Excel Addin - Unable to connect
Of course you take your own chances with this -- it is an unsupported combination right now.
    Regards,
    Cameron Lackpour
P.S. John Booth posted today a different patch release (I know, you're on 11.1.2, but for the 11.1.1.3 readers): http://www.network54.com/Forum/58296/thread/1294100830/Does+11.1.1.3+support+Windows+7+and+Office+2010-
I'd be more inclined to go with John's patch number than mine -- I am just browsing through Oracle support -- he does infrastructure for real.
Edited by: CL on Jan 4, 2011 2:18 PM
One note -- the KB article was dated 21 Dec 2010, so it's pretty close to up to date.

  • Essbase excel add-in 11.1.2 with office 2010 Excel ?

Hey, we are using Essbase excel add-in 11.1.2 with office 2010 Excel even though Excel 2010 is not supported by Oracle. Do you know of any other users using it with Excel 2010? Any problems reported?

Looks like it: Re: Hyperion Essbase Excel Addin - Unable to connect
But the OP in that thread never posted what solved his problem, if it was ever solved.

  • Full functionality for Windows 7 and Office 2010?

When will full Hyperion functionality be available for Windows 7 as well as Excel 2010?
We are starting to deploy more computers that require Windows 7 - both 32bit and 64bit. We also have plans to start deploying more Office 2010 to take advantage of functionality available in other core applications we use.
If I posted in the wrong forum, please point me to the right place.

Windows 7 is definitely supported from 11.1.2 upward.
However the first production ready drop will come with 11.1.2 SP1 in the upcoming fall.
I have been told today that Oracle works hard to support Office 2010 asap; most likely early 2011 but may by already with SP1. However 2007 is supported yet with 11.1.2.
Just be a little patient till October. I'm sure it's worth.

  • Cannot run reader in protected mode with MS Office 2010

I just set up 6 identical Dell Optiplex XE machines with Office Home and Business 2010 pre-loaded.  Reader 10.1.1 will run in protected mode if it is installed before I go through the Office 2010 activation/installation procedure.  On the 2 machines where Office was set up before installing Adobe reader, protected mode will not work.  If protected mode is not enabled, I cannot go into preferences - general and turn the protected mode log to try to debug this problem.  For now I an running those two machines with protected mode off.  Has anyone else seen this?

You should always use official documentation for support details but I am pretty sure Windows 7 support was not available for the EAS client until 11.1.1.3.

  • Office 2010 home and student

I am setting up a business that will depend on me being to change websites and some othern things so I really have multiple questions.
First. This is a very sophisticated Sales system that is using multiple computers. I have Dell Desktop. Windows 8.1 full version. Dell Latitude LTE 8.1 that is an upgrade from 8.0. Nokia 2010 phone that I have seen both ways. It has the
Black upgrade but one site I was on said I did not have 8.1 and one said I did ( I think that was the Microsoft ) store. And then I am using a Garmin GPS. I have to have trip software and it needs to load multiple addresses. This was for me for my sales territory
but I think that is about to change.
I have Office 2010 that is not a very old version but keeps coming up and saying it wants its product Key. I put it in and it checks out OK asks me to get out of office and reenter and it will run OK. I do that and it just keeps doing the same
thing. This happened after loading the new 8.1.
This is going to be a business application but the system took me almost a year. I am in project Sienna and have  a visual trial.
That I am learning to use. This is going to be business so I need business approval. I am determining if I need developers tools or not. I like developing but I have projects that are already developed and I am not really interested in developing for
the store. I am going to probably run several web sites. One for Youtube and One for you.
Plan is to help you both with Mapping.  I am kind of an odd associate but I have witnessed the interest from you and Google on my mapping. I use the Dell tablet for PDF catalogs and Pricing and then The GPS to get me there. The
desktop for geosinking addresses and a lot of office paper work. The phone has multiple uses. The camara, quick emails, and aps that has all kinds of uses.
This is not a fluke I have been working on this for 20 years. The tablets just wont do the job. 2 pounds to heavy,2" to large,2 minutes to slow on boot and it looks like a computer and the older guys don't like it. The tablet changed all that.
With that said I will be trying to contact your Mapping Division and see if they need me. The system is very difficult to install. Four different computers must talk to each other about the same thing and multiple small problems arise and must be solved. I
can only at most do 2 systems a month and depending on their equipment they have and want to use maybe only 1. This is to important for that. It saves 2 1/2 hours a day for people who must find a lot of addrsses. That was unexpected. It happens all day long.
The GPS is saving 10 minutes here and 20 minutes there and ends up saving at least 2 hours a day. Now the icing on the cake. I made 15 calls in one day between 9:00AM and 3:30 PM. These were leisurely calls. When I leave in about 4 days they are going
to luv me. What I realized while testing this was that most of the stress from an outside sales job was just getting there. When you take that stress off of that job it goes back to being a fun job that is fun to do. You punch the button on the GPS and it
will go from call to call for as long as you want and pick back up the next day from where you left off. I tried both the phones and tablets for mapping but those really would only work for finding an address here and there. You overload the phone and the
tablet to try to combine a very sophisticated trip program with them. The tablet would have a very hard time being mounted on the dash and then you pull it out of its mounting to go in and make a call with it. Then try to Email your order in and then put it
back in the mounting to use as a GPS. The same problem with the phone. It has a very important job with what it does and is overloaded for really a lot of reasons to give it the mapping. Again it would be fine and actually very good to go find one address
but to start trying to get it to do industrial numbers of calls is just asking to much of one unit. GPS has serious job to do. It is left in the car while you are making the call. It is ready to go when you get back in the car. This is an industrial system
with serious attempst to save time and money and improve the lives of the people using it. Kindest,Larry Don
PS this is to important for me to go out 1 account a month with. This will enhance the whole computer industry and needs to be with the big boys and girls that can put together a serious marketing program behind it. Please get this to the right people.

  • Can't create a PDF using "print" from Office 2010 w/ Acrobat 9.5.1 installed

I've been working on a lengthy Word document for the past three days, upgrading most of the inserted images and straightening out the formatting. Converting the entire 180-odd page document every time I made a few updates is a bit time-consuming. I also noticed that when I converted the entire document as a whole, the quality of some (not all) of the images in the document was significantly degraded. So I'd been using the Adobe Acrobat printer selection in Word to create single page pdf files, and then used the documents tab in Acrobat to insert the new page and delete the undesirable page.
This was working fine for two days. Then I was attempting to print a page, and didn't notice the "Creating a PDF Document" window, nor did I see the requested filename in the target folder. I attempted to print the page a second time, but nothing happened. After closing several open pages, I found the "Creating a PDF Document" pop-up. But the progress bar was stuck at about 20% and never moved. Eventually I closed the pop-up and attempted to print again. The pop-up reappeared but stuck at 20%. Rebooted and got the same. I rebooted again and went into Program and Features and ran repair on both Office 2010 and Acrobat. No change.
I'm operating Win 7 (64 bit) w/ SP1 on an AMD E-350 1.60Ghz processor w/ 8GB of ram. I'm using Office Professional Plus 2010 build 14.0.6112.5000 (32 bit). I've included the System Report below. The only trick I have left is to uninstall and reinstall, but hoping for a more specific solution. Any help would be appreciated.

As far as the images are concerned, that may be a result of your choice of job settings. You may want to use the Press or Print option if the image quality is important. I assume you are talking about bit images in this case.
As to the hangup, have you checked to see if AcroTray is active on your system? It may not be running as needed. In the meantime, try checking print to file and then opening that file in Distiller to complete the conversion to PDF.
Before you ever try a reinstall, you need to do a repair first to see if that resolves the problem. There are a lot of unknowns about your exact process for the printing and your job settings that may be part of the problem. The rest of your system setup is useful in some cases, but did not help me see your problem.

  • Is it time yet for Microsoft to "Recall" Office 2013 and provide anyone who has a 2013 license a replacement Office 2010 license?

The interface is terrible and can't be changed.  Every application in the suite locks up/crashes nearly constantly on any machine it is used on.  The activation process is terrible and wastes hours of any support/IT dept's time.  From a 'privacy
standpoint', the software is seemingly criminally intrusive.  It is clearly a product that should never have been released and is so far from functional that it can't be repaired by any 'service pack', 'hotfix', or 'patch'.  It needs to be completely
    scrapped.
The only 'redeeming quality' of this software is that the guy who was in charge of creating it is gone from Microsoft.  (Unfortunately, he is now President Obama's appointee for running the attempt at repairing the 'healthcare.gov' website...
out of the frying pan...   )
When the software is installed using one profile (domain or machine account) and a different profile tries to use the software, it requires 're-activation' - which often fails because the software believes it has been installed multiple times. (This is particularly
frustrating because it has to be installed by an administrative user, but most of the time, the person who 'uses' the software is not the 'administrator' - so it is almost always being 'installed' using one profile and 'used' using another profile).
The necessary intrusion into privacy created by the requirement of a "Microsoft Account" to use the software is seemingly criminal.
The tracking of, and installation of licenses is absolutely ridiculous.
    An example:
Many of my clients have many users and many computers (up to 75 or so).
I could create a "Microsoft User Account" for each 'user', but these machines get moved between users, and the software license is tied to the 'machine' and not to the 'user' so as soon as that happens, the licenses and the users are no longer
in line and become impossible to track.
I could create a "Microsoft User Account" for each 'computer'... and I can't even count the ways this would be a nightmare to try to track.
I actually did that up front for one client, and created Exchange email boxes for each computer so that "prove you are really you" emails from Microsoft could be received managed, and responded to, and passed out second usernames and passwords
to all of the users so they could "log-in" to their Office 2013 software, and created a database of the 'computer usernames and passwords' so I could track this... unfortunately, this confused the users (as it rightfully should) so they would change
the passwords for their computer's 'Microsoft User Account' thus locking me out and invalidating my database, ... and... CLUSTERF#%K!!!
As a 'best - worst case', I have had to create a single 'Microsoft User Account" for each of my clients' businesses so I can install and activate Office 2013 products.  This is a whole new set of "Awesome Stupidity".
Now, I can put a new computer into a client's office and install their new license key for their oem Office 2013, and it shows up in the 'business's Microsoft User Account'.  Then when I give the machine to the user, I get to 're-activate' the software
(hoping that it doesn't tell me to piss-off - which happens about 40% of the time.  This is a process that can only be described as a "feat of engineering created by a group of monkeys whose former jobs included 'janitor at MAD magazine headquarters'
    or 'beer-pong referee').
It starts with two hours of pressing phone buttons and ultimately talking to someone who tells me "yeah, nothin' I can do about that I'm just here for product activation" (which, incidentally, is done by machine until you pass through MS's ridiculous
labyrinth of repetitious keystroking until the machine is convinced you are just too stupid to punch in the right numbers and allows you to talk to a person... who then asks you for the exact same set of numbers and repeats back the exact same responding set
of numbers and acts dumbfounded when it still doesn't work - since it didn't work the first six times you punched or said it into the phone) followed by "I need to send you to the support group... but because it's 6:30 pm (in a process you started at
3:00pm) they are gone for the day and you'll have to call back on Monday morning"
At some point in the process, you get to log into the "Microsoft user account" and 'roll the roulette wheel of stupidity' by trying to activate the right software from a list of 40 different lines that all say "Microsoft Office 2013 Home and
Business oem", but none give any indicator or differentiating factor like for instance: license key, date installed, license key last 4 digits, mother's maiden name, phase of moon when software was first activated, color or type of blood of the user's
paperboy's dog's previous owner... NOTHING... RANDOM FREAKING STAB IN THE DARK - pick one, any one, hope its the license you are trying to install onto this machine, 'cause if not, you very well may kill the product on some other machine.
So through the process, the lucky support staff person gets' to waste roughly an hour and a half on average for every Microsoft Office 2013 installation.  I have actually had to start telling my clients that they are going to likely have to pay an extra
$100 or so per machine in order to get their new Microsoft Office software which comes on their new computer activated - that number tends to work out roughly accurately - except that it is a terrible way of trying to 'please a client'.
Oh,... and did I mention... "THE SOFTWARE CONSISTANTLY FAILS"!?!
A client tries to open a document that they have been using for 8 years and Excel doesn't say "Hey, I don't know how to deal with some element of the file that you put in here using Excel 2003, or Office 2010 (both products, by the way, which worked
great) - no... instead,... it crashes.  Doesn't really do any damage to the file it choked on, but the work you'd been doing on three other files which you also had open,... yeah,... that work is gone.
Yeah,.... over time, I have developed a pretty consistent spiel for client's needing new computers that goes over how absolutely terrible Office 2013 is, and explains that our options are further limited by Microsoft's yanking of all Office 2010 or previous
products from market availability, and explaining the merits of both LibreOffice and OpenOffice, as well as their drawbacks.  I also have a strangely static response explaining how "larger companies are not burdened by these issues because they are
able to use MOPL which allows them to downgrade their productivity software to Office 2010 so they can continue to function happily, but this is really not a cost effective solution for smaller companies who primarily buy oem Office products with their replacement
    computers".
Unfortunately, many clients still decide they want to go with Office 2013 because they apparently believe "it really can't be that bad".  The value in my 'presale descriptions' are only really realized when they come back to me a week, two
weeks, or up to a month after the new machine is in place and say "wow,... you were right".  The place I am left open for any further problems is when I don't impress upon them beforehand just HOW BAD OFFICE 2013 REALLY IS.  In that case,
they still come back to me as though I have done something wrong foe selling them this piece of $#!% software and I have to remind them of our previous discussions.
Strangely, far too few heed the warnings and buy the software anyway - but the discussion has saved many clients the costs of Microsoft Project, because the discussion of LibreOffice and OpenOffice nearly always leads to at least a small philosophical conversation
about 'Open Source Software' in general, and my absolute favorite descriptive analogy in that discussion is to compare Microsoft Project at $600 v. ProjectLibre at $0 - and then further describe the costs of licensing and implementing the associated back-end
    server solutions, etc.
This is a saving grace for me, because even though the client has been saddled with Office 2013, they have also saved substantially on Project and it is a rare (but granted, not absolutely absent) occasion that ProjectLibre is lacking some feature or function
that they actually need or want to use - and on those occasions, finding out has cost them absolutely nothing in software purchases.
Its not surprising, I suppose, that clients have grown to accept Office as a required 'cost', but still choke heavily on the price-tag of Project every time they have to buy it.  The interesting thing to watch over the coming couple of years will be
'how many businesses stop accepting MS Office as a 'required cost' due to the failing of the software itself and the fact that most are being burned, at least once, by purchasing the software "against technical advice" and are learning, merely by
virtue of HOW BAD Office is, that there are other options out there that both cost less and work better... I mean,... LOTS BETTER.
How many businesses that are used to accepting the cost of Microsoft Office as a cost of doing business will be moved over to open source options and satisfied by them by the time Microsoft releases its next version - which will, presumably work - such that
they will no longer justify the cost of Microsoft's offering even if it is 'superior' to the open source offerings because the open source offerings are plenty sufficient and include a price tag of $0 and an installation/implementation time that is much, much
    shorter than Microsoft's offering.
If Microsoft doesn't make some dramatic reparations, and do it soon, I expect their market share will be reduced in this area by a very significant margin.
I am suggesting either a 'Complete Recall' of Office 2013 including an 'uninstall 2013/install 2010' process driven by the automatic update engine, or at the very least, a free and easy downgrade rights offering for anybody who has already purchased 2013
and anyone who purchases it between now and the time the next "functional product" is released.

I understand the inconvenience you are experiencing when working with Office 2013.
If you have any feedback about Office 2013 product, click the and submit to Microsoft.
Microsoft will decide how to fix the problem for all customers.
For the activation mechanism, it intends to protect customers of their rights and interests.
For a retail version of Office, if it was purchased with a disk, Microsoft account is not necessary during the installation.
For volume license of Office, refer to the following link to deploy Office suites can be much efficient:

  • Acrobat XI Pro "Out of Memory" error after Office 2010 install

    Good Afternoon,
We recently pushed Office 2010 to our users and are now getting reports of previous installs of Adobe Acrobat XI Pro no longer working but throwing "Out of Memory" errors.
We are in a Windows XP environment. All machines are HP 8440p/6930p/6910 with the same Service pack level (3) and all up to date on security patches.
All machines are running Office 2010 SP1.
All machines have 2GB or 4GB of RAM (Only 3.25GB recognized as we are a 32bit OS environment).
All machines have adequate free space (ranging from 50gb to 200gb of free space).
All machines are set to 4096mb initial page file size with 8192mb maximum page file size.
All machines with Acrobat XI Pro *DO NOT* have Reader XI installed alongside. If Reader is installed, it is Reader 10.1 or higher.
The following troubleshooting steps have been taken:
    Verify page file size (4096mb - 8192mb).
Deleted local user and Windows temp files (%temp% and c:\WINDOWS\Temp both emptied).
Repair on Adobe Acrobat XI Pro install. No change.
Uninstall Acrobat Pro XI, reboot, re-install. No change.
Uninstall Acrobat Pro XI Pro along with *ALL* other Adobe applications presently installed (Flash Player, Air), delete all Adobe folders and files found in a full search of the C drive, delete all orphaned Registry entries for all Adobe products, re-empty all temp folders, reboot.
Re-install Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. No change.
Disable enhanced security in Acrobat XI Pro. No change.
    Renamed Acrobat XI's plug_ins folder to plug_ins.old.
You *can* get Acrobat to open once this is done but when you attempt to edit a file or enter data into a form, you get the message, "The "Updater" plug-in has been removed. Please re-install Acrobat to continue viewing the current file."
A repair on the Office 2010 install and re-installing Office 2010 also had no effect.
At this point, short of re-imaging the machines (which is *not* an option), we are stumped.
We have not yet tried rolling back a user to Office 2007 as the upgrade initiative is enterprise-wide and rolling back would not be considered a solution.
Anyone have any ideas beyond what has been tried so far?

As mentioned, the TEMP folder is typically the problem. MS limits the size of this folder and you have 2 choices: 1. empty it or 2. increase the size limit. I am not positive this is the issue, but it does crop up at times. It does not matter how big your harddrive is, it is a matter of the amount of space that MS has allocated for virtual memory. I am surprised that there is an issue with 64GB of RAM, but MS is real good at letting you know you can't have it all for use because you might want to open up something else. That is why a lot of big packages turn off some of the limits of Windows or use Linux.
