Hyperlink Clipping in Omniportlet

I am using a web page with a list of hyperlinks as source data in an Omniportlet. I can use the webclipping studio to clip out the link description but not the underlying hyperlink URL so that I can't use the URL data for the hyperlink function in Omniportlet's Layout function.
Does anyone know any other ways to do it?
Thanks,
Gary

Hello,
Correct me if I am wrong:
- you are using the Web Page data source to capture data.
- some of the data are links
- the studio allows you to capture the text but not the link
is that the problem ?
If yes it is an known issue and it is part of the enhancements we want to push in the product.

  • Linking 2 omniportlet - sql

    Gurus,
I have 2 omniportlets - sql. One omniportlet has a column hyperlinked, when user clicks on the hyperlink the second omniportlet - sql must be displayed by passing the hyperlinked column as parameter. I am looking at at a URL link to the second omniportlet. What should be the value of the URL link to call the second omniportlet - sql.
    Thanks,
    Kaushik

Your link should raise an event. The event can then be mapped through the page editing UI to another portal page. You can define parameters for your event, which are passed to the event's target page. Then you'll have to map the page parameter to your target omniportlet's portlet parameters.
There is detailed documentation on how to achieve this in the User's Guide.

  • How to hide and show Omniportlet based on user privileges

    hi all
I am trying to hide or show an Omniportlet based on user privileges, which means accessc control on portlet-level for Omniportlet. But I couldnt find out how to do it.
    According to Portal Developer's Guide:
You can hide and show portlets built with Web Clipping and OmniPortlet on portal pages dynamically by using security managers. Although Web Clipping and OmniPortlet do not expose security managers through the user interface, you can apply them by editing their XML provider definition file.
Question is: where can I find that XML file? Is this file accessible and configurable somewhere through Portal Enterprise Mgr?

    Hi,
I don't think you can edit this file through Enterprise Manager. Atleast as far as I know. But its available on the server. I have a NT installation and I found it under:
    D:\oracle\Mid_tier\j2ee\OC4J_Portal\applications\portalTools\omniPortlet\WEB-INF\providers\omniPortlet
You might want to restart the Portal application through OEM after you change this file.
    Hope this helps,

I have several different movie clip components in a flash file that I need to hyperlink to different addresses. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to add a url to these objects. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hyperlinks to movie clip

    Hello!
I have a swf file which consists of 3 movie clips. When the
1st movie clip fades out, the 2nd one fades in. And the same for
the 3rd one. I want to insert 3 individual links to the 3 movie
clips so that when people click on the 1st movie, it links to page
A of my website and cliks on the 2nd movie links to page B and so
    on.
Can anyone advise how to do that?
    Thanks!
    Ken

Just to confirm your first question, yes, the clips are about 1gb for 5 minutes.
And depending on how you work and what else you have on your hard drive, you may not need a monster.
With iMovie4 and iDVD4, the largest movie you can make is just under 2 hours. That figures out to about 24gb. When you do the burn with iDVD, you also need a minimum of about 6gb free, much better to have 10-20 available.
But if you import several hours of video and select pieces here and there, the unused parts of the clips remain on your hard drive, so the 24gb can grow very quickly. There may be workarounds, again depending on how you edit your movie.
For example, most of my editing is linear -- I can completely finish one portion at a time. So I make those parts under 9 1/2 minutes, then export them to full DV chunks and either delete the iMovie or all the clips from the Timeline. I then move the chunks into the Media folder of a "master" iMovie project which may approach the 2 hour limit. A side benefit is, I can copy two of those chunks to a DVD-RW as backups.
p.s., never, ever, use the iMovie4 option to "empty the trash." No, no, no. It will gain you some space, but sooner or later it WILL completely corrupt your movie!

  • How can I retain hyperlinks while saving a webpage as PDF via Print?

How can I retain hyperlinks while saving a webpage as PDF via Print?
This is the title of an apple forum question, and it is a bug in both Safari 5.1.3 and under, and I find it to also occur in Firefox browser (at least 9.* 10.*, 11.0), running on Lion OS (10.7.2, 10.7.3). See:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3212301?start=0&tstart=0
Under the newer Mac OS mentioned, and Firefox 10.2, 11.0, 9.*, if I select:
File -> Print -> PDF -> Open PDF in Preview"
(and view / save the PDF in Preview, you will see none of the links in the original web page are active
    or using
File -> Print -> PDF -> Save as PDF...
same problem. Try this using any Wikipedia page, for example.
When this problem was posed in Apple forums, by a user of the Safari browser, it was found to be a bug (since Aug 2011) fixed in a Safari browser build 5.1.4 circa Jan 2012. I tried the newer Safari browser and sure enough the problem went away (except that links embedded in the PDF no longer appeared as blue text - ARGH - but "hover over" with the cursor showed the link and clicking the link in Preview viewer activated the link in a browser window).
So I post this to the Mozilla community, please fix this 'cause I don't want to have to switch over to Safari browser every time I want to archive a PDF with active links!!!!
P.S. I did a spot-check and with the newer add-on Enjoy Reading 1.0.1 and FF11.0. When the Enjoy reading formatted version appears in the browser window, all URLs/links are preserved and highlighted in blue, but when I print that browser window as PDF, the links are dead (don't work) even though they appear in blue in the PDF.
So, what's going on, can the Safari fix be researched and applied to FF?
Also, on some forums, people are responding, Well, try installing Acrobat reader. Well, I don't want to, Preview reader has worked fine for me for years.

    Thanks jscher2000.
RE: -- '''Generally speaking, PDF converters that work by intercepting a print job do not have access to the URLs behind links in the page.''' --
I cannot say I agree. I could email you a PDF clipping or two (generated from Safari on Mac OS, in its native capability with no add-ons) that shows you otherwise. When I used PC platforms I did have to install PDF converters (tried both free and expensive ones) that did what I describe.
I cannot try the add-on you mention, '''Print Pages to Pdf.''' in Firefox. It shows in my browser and Mac OS platform "Not available for your platform." So I am guessing it was written for the PC version of Firefox.
The Mac OS has had a native PDF-creation functionality for as many years as I have been using it; I used PC prior to that, Win3.1 through XP and NT. And on my PC, I bought (and at work, my employer bought $$$, I had to justify three levels up to management the ability to create PDFs on my work PC) some Adobe functionality to CREATE pdf's (readin's free and easy, makin' em's costly on the PC).
I've gone and dug through some of my (Mac) doc and clipping archives, and I find that stuff I created after about Dec 2008 or so seems to eliminate all link functionality. When viewed in the Apple native "Preview" application (sort of Apple's equivalent to Adobe Acrobat reader, ships with the OS): link tags are highlighted/tinted, clicking a link opens a (default) browser and takes you there; hover-over the tag text shows the actual link. (Of course, not all old links are still VALID or point to the desired source.)
I could, in Safari or FF browser window and with no add-ons or Adobe paid products whatsoever, use the native OS method to create PDF's from any application (word processor, spreadsheet, browser, etc) via the menu File -> Print -> Save as PDF menu and create a PDF that had active hyperlinks. In Apple OS Lion 10.7.3, I still can't when it uses this broken WebKit interface, links are "dead" as a doornail until a fix is distributed in WebKit for a future Lion release. It seems this functionality died at least as far back as Leopard OS 10.6.8, but don't quote me on that. Also, my version of Pages 2009 version 4.1(923) (sorta like Word) STILL creates a PDF document that preserves (1) text hyper-links within the document, and (2) web links (in the PDF) that open the browser. I just made a test document.
When all you can see in the PDF is the tag text, there is nothing to copy-paste to follow any link. Also, hypertext links are often used by authors to create links to other points in a document: now even *that* is broken in the PDF version of the documents I retrieve from the web and print from FireFox (Broken in Safari 5.1.3 and earlier but fixed in 5.1.4).
Try this on the PC, in your browser and print a news clipping as PDF, do the links in the PDF work? What products do this, and what don't? I would bet the machine with a full Adobe suite this will work flawlessly. (Why should a PC user have to pay hundreds of $ to create this functionality in what I thought was an open standard (PDF)? But that's talkin' religion, let's not start that.)
    Some folks might say,
go online and find the original source doc in your browser. Or,
go and add those links manually using the Preview edit add-link capability (hunh? no thanks) , or
save each item worth saving as an HTML archive instead of a PDF (argh, creating a whole directory in the process, I might add, including ads). Or,
who needs PDFs, everything is online.
    Or, buy some Adobe product.
I think they miss my point. This is a real strange dumbing-down of archival PDF documents, or at least a destruction of the ability to use PDF as an archive that retains its links and references.

  • Possible to view presentations with embedded clips  on the ipad from an external wifi  drive?

    Hello,
first of all I am happy to have joined this community, my name is Chris from Germany.
I am wondering if this setting is possible:
I have bought an external wifi drive (Seagate Satellite Goflex) as well as the iPad4.
I am giving lectures (powerpoint and keynote presentations containing lots of embedded video clips).
Now I would like to show these presentations with my iPad connected to the Wifi drive.
You have to download a special Seagate App on the iPad to be able to see the data on the external wifi drive - I have managed to open the powerpoint files in the App (unfortunately keynote files are not supported by the Seagate App) but when I open them with keynote or goodreader the embedded media will always be removed.
Is this the end of the story or are there any solutions (i.e. with other hardware devices or software)?
Have a nice New Years Eve and thanks in advance,
    Chris

    yes and no ...
    I have figured that out:
First of all: you can`t just view presentations on an external device without importing them into your iPad (at least when you plan to show slides with embedded clips) - goodreader, filebrowser, dropbox ... just show you "static" slides.
When you import a ppt-presentation into keynote all the hyperlinks, embedded clips ... are gone - no chance.
But ... in keynote you are able to "embed" video clips when you drag and drop them directly into the slide alowing "copy video into the document" as well (that is "vital") - the files are getting larger but you don`t have to add a clip when you transfer it to another device (i.e. the iPad) - they are "fixed" in the document..
Now seagate goflex has the problem that you just can`t open/view keynote presentations - but there is a solution:
hacksatellite firmware. When you install that you can go into keynote, activate WebDav, import a keynote file from the external drive, edit it and send it back to the external drive - so: import (can`t live without that), show or edit the presentation, copy it again to the external device and delete the presentation in the iPad (to save storage) is the way you can get the optimum from the iPad at the moment.
Correct me if there is any other more comfortable solution.
    Thanks for your reply Daniel,
    Christian

  • Is there a limit to number of hyperlinks in an InDesign document?

Anyone know if there is a limit to the number of hyperlinks that can be used in an InDesign document that is to be exported as an interactive PDF?
Looking to include up to 500 or so links to different URLs and would like to know if there is a limit before I start rather than hit it half way through!
    Many thanks for any help.

Yup... you can have up to 99 tracks, including stories and slideshows in that number.
However, there is really no reason to have one clip per track... you could put several (or all 80) into a single track if needs be.

  • How get hyperlinks to PDFs to open in separate window?

I have a very large Microsoft Word 2007 document containing lots of hyperlinks that I create a PDF from, that I must re-create from time to time due to editing changes. To save the trouble of re-entering all its hyperlinks (to other PDFs) every time I re-build the main PDF (with my resulting tendency to overlook some of them), I would like to embed them into Word ahead of time. The problem is, when I do so, the links in the resulting PDF always open in the main document, wiping out what was there.
My main PDF contains instructions for how to install the Previous View button but the likelihood is many or most users will not notice them, with the result that when they go to one of the linked PDFs they have no way to return to the main document.
Previously, I have been building these hyperlinks after the PDF is created, and as you know, that gives me the option to tell Acrobat that I want the linked PDF to open in its own window. Is there any way I can instruct the automatic PDF-building process from Word to do that instead of its default behavior of always opening them within the main document?
I get the same result whether I build the PDF by loading the Word docx into Acrobat, or using the Create PDF button from within Word.
    Thanks for your help.
    Peyton
P.S. One obvious solution would be to build links back to the main document from the smaller PDFs themselves, but that idea is completely out since it's too late for me to re-build all the smaller PDFs now. Aside from the deadline I'm working under, every one of them contains gobs of links to media files that must be re-added one by one, going through the whole set of Acrobat dialogs for choosing their parameters, which are always the same. So far all my requests to Adobe to add a default video media parameters capability have not led to this being done.

Thanks so much for pointing me to the right place. As it turned out, the deadline I'm under to get this book ready meant I had to go ahead and insert the links to its external PDFs by hand for this version, although I plan to learn about javascript for future versions of the book, which will definitely occur.
I used to be a web page programmer, so I'm quite familiar with javascript itself. Now what I mainly need will be to understand its object model in Acrobat, and the interface to it  from inside Acrobat.
What I pray fervently for (but doubt I will find it there) is javascript code to set the parameters of all embedded videos, of which I have over 100, and must go through a laborious series of dialogs to set the parameters for each and every one individually! (or more likely, a function I could write that would be passed an identity code for each video clip in turn.)

  • Hyperlink to a webpage in a media widget caption

Is there a way to make a link to an external website in caption text?
I inserted a media widget and a video clip. Below the clip is the text caption of the talking head speaker's name and a line of text describing what he is saying. I'm trying to create an external web link to IMDB when one clicks the name of the speaker. Can't seem to be able to do that!
Any ideas or am I doing something wrong here?
    MB

If you input the text in any part of iBA - within the body text  or a captions - you can select whatever word or words you chose, and using the make a link  option in the Inspector - select the  webpage option and type in the FULL URL i.e. http://www. xxxxxxxxx.com or net etc,.
the selected text will  be underlined and colour changed to  whatever your style is - default - for  reasons known only to Apple  is red as  opposed to the internationally used blue.
If you want it changed - disable  - make inactive - the link text you selected - open the Styles drawer and  look for  "hyperlink" in red.... now change your text colour to blue ( or choice) disable the underline if you want - when done click the down arrow to the right of hyperlink in the styles drawer and  choose
"redefine style from selection"      your  text - and every  other link in the  book will now be as you styled it.

  • Is it possible to hyperlink to a specific point in a video?

I'm trying to create a DVD-style menu page within keynote.
Ideally what I'd like to do is have a video on 1 slide and then create a series of hyperlinks on a menu slide that would hyperlink to specific points within that video.
Anyone know if this is possible?

You could use iMovie to split the video clip into each section as well. Do you need the option to play the entire video clip from start to finish? If not, you can have each video clip be its own Keynote file and have Hyperlinks to each individual Keynote and then there will not be one large file, but multiple smaller files. This of course will not work if you want to play the movie straight though.

  • Video clips

Video clips can be added to pdf files in InDesign but I cannot find a way to access a video in youtube.  Is Adobe plainning on adding this capability in the future?

    Hi,
I don't understand what you mean!
I create a simple ID file with an hyperlink to the URL of a video on youtube.com (I could create a button with a screenshot of the window of the video too!); I export my ID file in interactive pdf; I open the pdf; I click on the hyperlink and this action simply opens a window in FireFox where the target video begins!
    What's your problem?

  • Hyperlinks go dead when I publish!!?

Everything works in iWeb. I replace the template menu links with my own (so I can control font, size, and placing). This has worked on two other sites.
But this time, when I publish the site to a folder all hyperlinks cease to work. Quicktime Videos also lock up, cease to work.
If I go back to the template menu items at the top, everything works. Only the template items are either badly placed, or the wrong color. I know how to change the hyperlink colors, but not the 'template menu link' colors (nor the placing).
Any help would be most appreciated.
    Ben

    Hi Jabberwock,
It FEELS as if there is some layer covering the links ... but I do a very careful look and can't find a thing. The 'template' menu links do work when published. But my homemade menu links (text - hyperlink) seem to freeze all links and Quicktime Video clips. Here are some of the pages, and 1 video clip link. I've done two other sites exactly the same way as this, with my own navigation menu, and had no problem.
