Hyperlink malware in web browsers' key words

Hi! I was just wondering if anyone has an idea on how to remove malware links in key words in a web browser (ex. IE11 or chrome)?
Everytime I open a web page, keywords are highlighted with a link to a product or website that is unrelated to the one I am in. For instance I went to technet.microsoft.com and in the search bar when I search for a subject a separate pop up or Tab is displayed.
Very annoying and dangerous.

Your computer is infected with Spyware / Malware.
Install a free malware removal tool, I recommend
Spybot S&D
Install CCleaner
Run spybot first and remove all the malware
run ccleaner next to clean up your temporary files and unnecessary junk
run the registry cleaner tool in ccleaner to fix any broken registry entries
Make sure when you run these setups (any ANY setups in the future) to read the pages before clicking next! Sometimes programs contain 3rd party applications bundled with them that are not necessary and end up cluttering your system, or even worse, turning
out to be malware!

Is there a way to identify the key words being used for SEO when I'm visiting a web site?

When I am on a web site, looking at a product for sale, is there an app or add on I can use to see what that site has for key words, meta tags etc? It would be helpful when adding products to my own site to see what works elsewhere.

Do search engines even look at those anymore? URL, title and page content are what's relevant.

Web browsers are displaying 'hidden characters' or dashes between words

I've just updated to Snow Leopard and now all of my web browsers are displaying 'hidden characters' or dashes in between words on websites like Yahoo and others. Headlines looks like something like this: The-best-places-to-live-in-America. Also, numbers are displayed with a box around each character and a horizontal line going through them, making them almost unreadable. This is happening with Safari, Chrome and Firefox. Is there anyway to fix this problem?

No. To fix it with them you have to get rid of the fonts installed on your system which are causing the problem. The code of the web pages is calling for certain fonts, and you have junk installed which is substituting for the real ones. You be able to see the junk by looking at samples in Fontbook.

Web browsers crashing and using up RAM on new Macbook Pro

Hey everyone,
Recently I bought a Mid 2014 Macbook Pro to replace my old 2011 model that was destroyed by liquid damage. Though I like this new computer, I seem to always have an issue with it running low on memory, ESPECIALLY when using web browsers such as Firefox and Safari. Quite often I will be waiting for a URL to load or will try to scroll through a webpage when the browser will freeze and crash. I've been keeping more of an eye on how much of my 8GBs RAM is being used at any current moment, and typically it is ranging from 2 GBs free to around only 30 MBs free as run applications such as Pages, Firefox, and/or Safari. These issues have been preventing me from using software such as Photoshop and Avid Media Composer because I keep wondering if the computer can even handle such memory intensive software if it cannot handle web browsers. Also when a browser crashes, I never seem to get a crash report and typically have to Force Quit the software.
It seems extremely odd that my computer is constantly running into these issues. My last model had less RAM, yet I never seemed to have an issue with memory or crashing. Part of me is wondering if I have an application somewhere that is consuming too much, or if I accidentally imported some broken files/applications from my previous computer, or whether it is either the web browser's software or the computer itself.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

In the Console window, select
          DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

Firefox started crashing a week ago and now I can't type in a foreign language (Korean) when I can on other web browsers like IE or chrome..help!

The language bar is working just fine. And, I can see that the setting has changed to the other language but it just won't type in firefox. It keeps typing in English. It works in word or other web browsers, so I'm assuming this only happens in firefox. So, then, what is the issue?

In Firefox 3.6 on Windows you can hide the menu bar via "View > Toolbars" or via the right click context menu on a toolbar.
Press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the menu bar.
Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the menu bar or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide.

Does word or powerpoint associate a tooltip and hyperlink to an image and then allow that image with those associations to be copied to another open word or powerpoint document? If not then your probably wasting your time.

OSX web browsers - image issues on one Mac, not on others

I know this will seem very vague and could have any of a number of causes, but I am just totally stumped on this. On my MBP (details below), some images and pages in web browsers simply will not load. No "broken image" icon, just nothing there - a blank. This is not a Safari issue, as any browser I try on the machine (Firefox, Chrome) gives the same result. This problem has been going on for some time; I believe it predates Snow Leopard, though both systems are up-to-date as of now.
On my iMac (OS 10.6.6 as well), the same images and pages load fine!
For example, I use WordPress for my blog. If I write a post in the web version on my MBP, the icons for adding media simply do not show up (There's simply text saying Upload/Insert, then an empty gap. There are supposed to be icons for pictures, video, audio, etc). Interestingly, though there are no icons there, apparently the LINKS are still there, just invisible. Because rolling over the gap, I can see the various links in the status bar. So if I click in the right spot of the empty gap, I get taken to a page where I should be able to upload a picture. But then we hit the next iteration of the problem: the linked-to page doesn't load, either. Just a blank page. This happens in any browser I try on the MBP.
On my iMac, everything shows up and looks fine in all browsers.
So there's obviously some global software difference between the MBP and the iMac; for whatever reason, some rendering(?) technology is being "blocked" on the MBP. But I see no configuration differences of note between the systems in System Preferences or app support etc.
Any ideas? I know this comes across as incredibly vague.

After verifying that all of your browsers are up to date, clear or delete your history and caches through your browsers Preferences.
Disconnect all peripherals from your computer. Boot from your install disc & run _*Repair Disk*_ from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
Select *Disk Utility.*
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click *First Aid.*
Click _*Repair Disk.*_
Restart your computer when done.

IMac G5 (w/iSight) running slow and hot on web browsers

I've had my iMac for 4+ years and haven't any problems I couldn't fix on my own until now....
Machine is an iMac G5 w/ iSight with all original hardware except an extra 2GB of memory (for a total of 2.5). Over the last couple of months, my web browsers have begun to run slower and slower (mainly Safari, but I also use Firefox). Also the processor fan (I believe) comes on more quickly and frequently. It is now to the point that anytime there are any imbedded graphics, whether it's a youtube video, or a weather radar loop, or my kids are on webkinz, the fan kicks in and the top left corner gets extremely hot to the touch. As soon as I leave the page or close out the browser, the fan dies down. I cannot run any of these sites optimally. I am also getting quite a lot of page loading errors in Safari such as "Safari can't find the server." However, when I hit refresh the page comes right up. There does not seem to be a pattern to these messages. This only seems (so far) to be an issue with the browers. Today I simultaneously played a DVD, played songs on iTunes, and work in MS Word. No fan...
Here's what I've done so far:
Repaired disk permissions
Ran the extended hardware test (passed, no errors)
Ran diagnostics on my network connection (passed)
Reset Safari and Firefox incl. clearing the cache and deleting all cookies
Ran cleaning and maintenance w/ OnyX
Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated!

Which Camino? Do you have the latest, which I think is 2.0.3? It's difficult to pinpoint why all your browsers might be slow to load.
You could try the Servers from OpenDNS which may be faster (and safer, since they are patched for DNS poisoning/redirects) than those of your ISP. Put these numbers in Network> DNS for the interface your are using, eg. Ethernet, Airport:

Then check to see if it's working by going to
http://www.opendns.com/welcome/

If the refresh option works quickly, that might indicate that your Internet speed is slow. Once you've been to a page, it's stored in the browser cache, so it doesn't need to reload everything from scratch. I don't notice any difference in speed from refresh loading, so I suppose my Internet speed, though only around 1MBPS, is fast enough not to have to depend on the cache.
I don't know for certain if that indicates a problem, but the CPU spiking temporarily to 100% on loading a page doesn't sound like a big problem. Your processor is by now relatively slow compared to newer machines and web pages are getting more complicated with more elements to load all the time.
Finally, those G5s do run kind of hot; it will only delay the arrival of the hottest temps, but putting a fan at the back does help a little. I use one even on this new iMac.

Web browsers not loading webpages

Overnight, a couple of days ago, my web browsers (Safari and Chrome) both stopped loading webpages. When I click on a link, I get a blank page. But when I am logged as a guest or browse through Vmware's windows I can still browse normally. Thanks for helping to fix this.

I've got Sophos installed from long time ago. That's the only antivirus that is installed.
Checking in firewall settings didn't help I think, cause even after desactivating the firewall temporaly didn't fix the issue in both web browsers.
This issue is not discussed in Mac malware guide.
Another detail, is that some web content will load like this discussion group or google search. But If I click on any item from google search, the page won't load.

Skype: Stop Hijacking Web Browsers!

Installed update 6.6.0.106 on 07/15/2013 and noticed during the installation process that the installer wanted to hijack the search engine and home pages of (4) web browsers including MSIE, Chrome, Mozilla and Safari. Skype (Microsoft), what on EARTH, makes you think that a person who is installing an update to Skype would want to change their default search engines or homepages on MULTIPLE different web browsers on their machine? It's rude, it's an attack on a person's computer, and it shines a light on what dispicable behavior and malicious software occurs within the Skype software. Want to hijack someone's browser like a common malware? Fine, stick to your own God awful MSIE browser, but don't you DARE try to touch my superior Chrome and Firefox browsers. Shame on you! Luckily for you, I caught your lame attempt in advance... Otherwise, I'd be REALLY angry. But others here need to know that shameful companies like Microsoft do this everyday in an attempt to harvest your personal information. Be careful whenever you install software and read every checkbox!

I can't believe Microsoft would be such idiots that they've decided they're willing to piss off so many people just to steal some eyeballs. Embedded Web Browsers in Apps

Has anyone else noticed that many apps, including those rated 12+ and below have embedded web browsers? For example in the"Kindle" app you can access an embedded web browser by highlighting a word while reading a book. It will bring up an option to visit Google or Wikipedia to further define a word, but of course once there you can potentially look up anything you want. There are many apps that have browsers hidden in the settings. Awesome Note has one like this.
Whats the big deal? Web browsers in the app store are rated 17+ because you can potentially access "adult" material, but any 4+ app could contain a web browser with access to the same thing. For parents that are trying to protect their kids from inapropriate material this is a huge problem, as well as burdan to check every single app for one of these types of browsers.
I realize it would be an equally difficult task for Apple to moniter these things, but couldn't they offer a way to keep these browsers from launching? For instance, they could possibly allow a user to choose only 1 browser that could access the internet. Or no browser at all. The ideal situation would be to allow a company like Net Nanny to moniter all the internet traffic on the devic, but Apple has of course locked down the ios.
Is anyone else irate about this problem? Any solutions? If you are I would suggest you complain to Apple. It makes the Parental Controls on the device completely useless.

HTML Page - Inserting Key Words

I am real new to this, so please be gentle.
I am out of work and have created a web page (with IWeb) to hopefully generate some income. I want to insert Key Words on the HTML page. When I get to that page the code looks like I would insert the Key Words on the last line between the first ">" and the next "<" />Key Words<head><body></body></html>
Would anyone know if this is correct?
