Hyperlinks in Publisher Don't Transfer

I have to use MS Publisher 2010 to produce a newsletter. Hyperlinks defined in the text work fine in the PDF I create using Acrobaty PDFMaker (Acrobat X Pro). But hyperlinks defined for images do not transfer to the PDF. They transfer fine if I use the Microsoft "Publish as PDF" feature. This seems to be a problem with PDFMaker through several versions. Is there a way to fix this, or should I abandon Acrobat for this task? (Don't get me started about having to use Publisher. I know, I know).

Try saving the Document then  drag the Document and Draging on top of the unopened Acrobat. If it works the same way it does for Microsoft documents on Mac after a few minutes of grinding away Acrobat should open the file as a PDF. If it works Save as PDF as soon as Acrobat open up with the PDF open.

  • Local Folio hyperlinks get published without updating article

When creating a local folio, I don't even have to update the article and the hyperlinks are published and functioning when using preview folio. How is this possible? I haven't tried this with a remote folio yet.

    Hi Andrew,
can't help unfortunatly, but I get the same error when trying to download a retina display folio using a normal dps account. Download is "prepared" for about 5 minutes after which I get the error message:
An error has occurred while exporting the folio.
Failed to download the folio to your local disk.
    [downloadIssueFailed]
However, normal resolution folios can be exported and exporting a retina folio from a professional DPS account works.
    Best greetings,
    Philip

  • Some images don't transfer from RH8 to the Word output

Why is it that some images don't transfer from the RH8 file to my Word output when I generate?
They do transfer to the Flash Help, but not to Word.
Some of them are small images - just shots of icons or tools - and others are quite a bit larger.
It takes me at least another hour to format the Word document after the output.

    Hi Patti,
I have had similar problems of images "softly and suddenly vanishing away" during export from RoboHelp to Word. I never really solved the problem, but I did find some useful tips.
First you shouldn't embed your images; in the Printed Documentation Wizard you should select "Link to sub-directory"
This has the advantage that lost images are now replaced by a small red cross -- easier to find when reviewing.
Next, in Word, try Edit>Links. If you are lucky you will see something like this:
Notice that some links have a Source File of ../Images; they are the ones I was missing. For some reason the path to the image file is moved up one level.
I never found out why, but the workaround was simple: copy the entire Images directory and paste it one level higher in the directory hierarchy. A waste of disk space, to be sure, but it worked. The grabs above show Word2003 and RH8.
    Hope this helps,

  • Contacts Don't Transfer All Information When Using Outlook Synching - Zen Mi

Earlier I posted regarding the following problems with Outlook Synching:
. It doesn't transfer any recurring appointments from Outlook.
    2. It doesn't transfer your Outlook calendar unless you also choose to transfer your Outlook Contacts.
I now have another issue I just witnessed today....
    3. I've now entered roughly 50 contacts into Outlook, and have synched them with my Micro. I find that roughly 5 - 0% of my contacts do not synch over the email address. All other information appears to be transferred to my Micro, except for the email addresses in about 5 - 0% of contacts. I thought perhaps I maxed out the memory in my Micro, but that wasn't the problem. I then thought that perhaps these contacts have too much info, and Micro transfers over only a set data limit per contact... so I removed alot of info from one of them as a test, but it still won't transfer over the email address.
Has anyone else seen that? Creative, any comments on this issue, or status on the first two?
    Thanks -
    Josh

Thanks for the follow-up, Jeremy. In answer to your question, the contacts that don't transfer the email addresses were not previously on the device. I did not update the contact afterwards and add the email, it was already there when I initially created the contact.
As a test, I tried creating a "Test Contact" that appeared similar to the contacts that exhibits this problem, but it transferred the email address just fine. It's just approximately 5 - 0% of my contacts that show this problem.
The contacts I've seen off-hand tend to have most fields filled in including: Full Name, Job Title, Company, Business #, Mobile #, Business Address, E-mail, Display As.
On a side note, when I deleted this test contact from MS Outlook, synched the device, and made sure I selected the checkbox stating "Delete contacts that have been deleted in Outlook".... it never removed the "Test Contact". Is this another bug?
    Thanks for the help -

  • In iTunes 10.7, some of my podcasts don't transfer to my iPhone.

When I look in iTunes at the podcast list on my phone, the ones that don't transfer have a grey logo beside them (grey circle with two circular white arrows in them.)  I don't see any reason why they shouldn't transfer.  What's going on?
I can download them from the iTunes app on my phone, but this is an extra hassle when it should just sync, as my other podcasts do (other podcasts I've downloaded since this problem began do sync normally.)

Have the recipients check their spam folder. Once the message has been sent it's beyond your control whether it really gets delivered or not.
If for some reason a message cannot be delivered by the recipients mail server you'll receive a notification with the reason.

  • What is the difference between "don't transfer" and "transfer"?

After upgrading a song to iTunes Plus, I will sync my iPod Nano. Upon insertion of the USB cord I will get a message that reads something like this: There are songs on Susan's IPod Nano that are not in your Music Library, "transfer" or "don't transfer". Then it claims if you click "don't transfer" you will lose something on your iPod. But if you click "transfer" you get a duplicate right back into your Library; the 128kbts version, and the 256kpts version. My question is, am I correct in clicking "don't transfer"? I don't want duplicates anywhere! And what remains on he iPod, the 256kbt version or what? Yesterday, I called Tech Support, and the gentleman at the other end had absolutely NO CLUE what I was talking about! First he told me "transfer", then he told me "don't transfer". Can someone who has been through this help? Many thanks.

Hmmm, good question. If you use auto updating with your iPod, my gut feeling is that the old version that is in the iPod but NOT in the iTunes library anymore will be wiped from the iPod if you pick don't transfer.
Basically when you auto update, iTunes matches the contents of the iPod to that of iTunes based on whatever rules you are using (updating all or updating specific playlists). If it isn't in iTunes then it gets removed from the iPod. When you plug in the iPod, if iTunes "sees" a purchased track on the iPod that is not in the library, before it goes ahead and wiped it off the iPod, it gives you the opportunity to first save it to your library. If you say DON'T transfer it, then I assume (but I don't know for sure) that iTunes then goes about its normal updating routine which would remove the track from the iPod since it isn't in the library.

  • Notes don't transfer through Cloud

I have turned Notes on, with both my Ipad2 and IPhone 4S. But they don't transfer when I make a change on one device to the other device. Howeve my calander and contacts transfer fine. And Pages and Numbers work fine through IWork. As I believe Notes requires going through Mail, I also set up a new email address ([email protected]) with cloud. This is not my email address I normally use however. Some how I think the email address is not set the same with both devices.  I only see the email address when i go into advanced settings in Icloud.   Any thoughts what I might try or what I'm doing wrong.

Not sure what worked, but I went through all iCloud & Notes settings and made sure they were identical on both IPad and IPhone. Then the transfers between the devices worked.

  • MS Word hyperlinks don't transfer to pdf

I'm converting an MS Word 2010 document to pdf using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. The word document has clickable hyperlinks to external websites.
When converted to pdf, the hyperlinks are displayed (blue/underlined) but will not click.
I read elsewhere on another forum that Acrobat needs to be set to 'include active hyperlinks'. Will this resolve the issue? If so, how do you do it?
    Thanks,

    Hi Tim ,
You wont get any hyperlinks by printing the  PDF by File>Print>AdobePDF . That's a flat print which is similar  to the one you get by printing the file on paper . And you don't get  hyperlinks on paper . 'Explicit' web addresses can still be seen as links on a PDF via this route.
Hyperlinks are converted by PDFMaker which is in the acrobat tab of Word ribbon . If you are not able to see 'Acrobat' tab in the word ribbon (Where you see tabs such as 'Home','Insert' etc in word) then you might be using Office2010 64 bit , I suppose .
Please check by navigating to File> Help>About Microsoft word > version , please check if 64 bit is mentioned there .
    Thanks,
    Apoorv

  • Hyperlinks in Pages doc. don't transfer to Mail

I made a simple one-page newsletter in Pages and transferred it to a PDF at which point the hyperlinks still worked, but once in Mail, they don't work. I tried doing it via File/Export and also Share/Export and Share/Send via Mail. Nada. Have most recent version of Adobe. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

As far as I know the PDf is an attachment in Mail. You have to open the document to use the hyperlinks.

  • Hyperlinks on pictures don't work

I wanted to put some hyperlinks on pictures that would lead to other pages on my site. When I tried clicking the Insert menu and choosing Hyperlink, the choices were greyed out. Then I tried selecting the picture, and I opened the Inspector and checked "Enable as a hyperlink." Clicking on the picture to get to the page works in iWeb, but not when you load the page to the site.
Is it possible to make pictures hyperlinks, or should I just put captions under the pictures and make them hyperlinks?

Your second method is the correct method. Use the page name as the link destination instead of First, Second, etc. Then check "Make hyperlinks active" checkbox and try the link. It should take you to the linked page right in iWeb.
To check the links without publishing to the server just publish to a folder on the Desktop and run the site locally with your browser.

  • Master Pages don't transfer when I change page size in a book

I had exactly the same problem in CS4, which is why I switched to CS5.5 -- but apparently nothing has changed.
I have a book of about 30 chapters.  It was originally set up in 6x9 format, but after it was all formatted, my client decided he wanted the pages 5x8.
It should be easy, right?  Just change the layout for the master pages of the Style Source document, fix the text sizing, etc.  Then in each ensuing chapter, just download the new masters from the style source document.  When I get a warning asking me if the master pages in the target document should be overwritten, I say yes and it does its thing.
Only it doesn't work.  Oh, the text in the masters is all over the place, which is to be expected -- but the master pages and the book pages are still 6x9, not 5x8.
I tried synchronizing the book, being careful that Master Pages is checked in the options.  I got a warning that some of the text would need to be fixed.  No problem.  Except that the pages in all the documents except the Style Source are still 6x9!!
I have a feeling I've wasted my money on the upgrade.  A lot of bells and whistles have been added, but the CS4 problems aren't solved.
Please, can somebody help?  I do this for a living, and I'm wasting waaaaaay too much time trying to clean up messes like these.

No, Peter, I never solved it.  But thank you for asking!
I finally started a whole new book, with the smaller master pages.  I saved a few blank pages for each chapter file, then I copied and pasted the text of each chapter onto the new pages.  Fortunately I was able to transfer paragraph and character styles to the new document, and the formatting of the copied text transferred also.
But it was still a lot of work.
I don't even want to think about trying to design a document with different size pages!

  • Hyperlinks in pdf don't work

    Hi.
I create pdfs with hyperlinks in adobe indesign 5.5.
The created Hyperlinks refer to other pdf documents and still work,
but if I open the same pdf Files with another computer,
    the links don't work.
I don't know why hyperlinks don't work on the other computer.
    Any ideas?
Both Acrobat Versions have the ability to use and open linked documents.
It seems to be a general problem from acrobat.
    Thanks!

If you create a link in Acrobat to another PDF file in the same folder or in a subfolder of the source PDF's location, the link destination will always specify only the filename (and optional subfolder), not the absolute path. Provided those two files/folders are moved together, the link will always work.
    EG:
    "Index.pdf" in folder  "C:\Writing\Novels\MyBook"
    "chapter.pdf" in "C:\Writing\Novels\MyBook\Chapters"
Linking from "index.pdf" to "chapter.pdf", the filespec attribute of the link will be "Chapters/chapter.pdf".
Copying the entire "MyBook" or "Novels" folder and subfolders to another computer, CD, etc. the link will work as normal.

  • Titles don't transfer from iTunes to CDs I burn

Is there a way to get tune titles in iTunes to transfer to a CD ???
I receive audio MP3s of material that I must edit. They are emailed to my client's office. I then go to the office, and transfer the MP3's to CD. This allows me to bring the material to my studio and edit it on Final Cut Pro. The process of burning the material to CD also converts the MP3s to .aiff files, which FCP handles better than MP3s.
PROBLEM IS that when I burn the MP3s to the CD, the title info on the MP3s doesn't transfe.r. The tracks are burned to the CD as Track 1, Track 2, Track 3, etc.
I then have to manually input the original title info for each track once I have imported the tracks into FCP.
Not an impossible task, but it'd be great if there were a way to have the titles transfer to the CD when I burn the MP3s to the CD.
I assume that CDs simply don't allow for title info on the tracks. Even commercial CDs when viewed in iTunes, show Track 1, Track 2, etc., until you link up with the database, that I guess tells the computer "For this track that you're calling Track 1, show the name "Hard Days Night" or whatever the title.

Yeah man, I'm hearing ya! I make mixes for my little sister on Itunes and send her the cd. When she imports it, she has no idea what the songs are she's listening to, and she's not good at entering the names, albums, artists manually. I really wonder why itunes has things happeinig this way. Kind of lame.
