Hyperlinks to other Documents (non-html)?

Hello everybody,
is Pages unable to hyperlink to other documents (e.g. other *.pages-files, hyperlinks like "./myfile.pages") or is that function hidden somewhere else than at the hyperlinks page in the Information window?
Thanks for any recommendations.
Andreas

Hello Frank,
Thanks for your suggestion, I tried this.
In the .pages package there is a file index.xml.gz by double clicking it extracts an index.xml. In that file one can search and replace the hyperlink's text to e.g. ./myfile.pages. Afterwards I saved the file, deleted index.xml.gz, made a .zip package of my altered index.xml, renamed the extension to index.xml.gz.
Now if I try to open that in Pages, the application crashes. So I don't think we can hack this that easy.
By the way: Even if that had worked, I would never consider this as a usable 'workaround'. I am using Macs because of their great user interface and that's not the way I like doing things.

  • Hyperlinks to other documents in Pages  ?

    Even in such a miserable tool as Ms word, it is possible (though unreliable) to set a hyperllink from a document so as to open a different document which is not a webpage, e.g. a pdf. As far as I can see this was not possible in the previous Pages. Does anyone know if this is possible with the new Pages ?

    Although Pages ’09 v4.3 allowed linking to other Pages documents, this feature is not implemented in Pages v5.2.2. This is a new application rewrite of Pages that Apple has omitted nearly 110 features/functionality found in Pages ’09. If you need to link to other documents, then Pages v5.2.2 is not the application of choice.

  • I am using excel to add hyperlinks to other documents. When I email the spreadsheet to another user the hyperlinks are lost "cannot open the file" error comes up. Any suggestions?

    Any suggestions on how to retain hyperlinks in a workbook after emailing to another user. The links to external documents were lost. However the links to other sheets within the book were retained.

    Probably some form of corruption. If you already tried JetComp (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/295334) try copying objects to a new empty db. Chances are they all copy except for one. Of course you could
    go back to a backup as well, perhaps just to retrieve that failing object.

  • How to handle the Non HTML Documents in BSP

    Hi All,
    I want to upload the file which contains the  non HTML data.
    I am using the browse button and from the destop i should downloap a file which is non HTML document.
    It would be appriciatable if you send me the code.
    Iam using the html:fileupload tag
    Thanks,
    Mahalakshmi.K

    Hi Rajdeep,
    You can use the below tag which is used to change both the font and color of the text.
    <font face="Book Antiqua,Garamond" size="3" color="red"> YOUR TEXT HERE </font>
    This will work for the normal text which is given between the <font> </font> tags. but not directly with the Text View tag.
    You can choose this as an alternative.
    Thanks,

  • Handling Of Non-HTML Documents

    Hi everyone,
    for the PDF printout functionality in our BSPs we are using the technique described form Brian McKellar in this weblog:
    /people/mark.finnern/blog/2003/09/23/bsp-programming-handling-of-non-html-documents
    It works great, but not in all systems.
    We are on a 5 system landscape and it works in two systems. The coding is transportet thru all systems and is exactly the same in all systems.
    I have implemented the test progamm from Brian and it works also only in the same two systems.
    Now I have bought his book "Advanced BSP Programming", but it dose'nt help.
    Maybe it depends on the ICM cache properties? Any ideas?
    Thanks for the help!
    Regards,

  • Hyperlinks from other file formats working in Pages

    how can I get the hyperlinks in an imported WORD file when it opens on my laptop into a Pages file to open other DOc files in a folder?

    You can't. Pages can only hyperlink to Pages documents. When you open a word document in Pages it becomes a Pages document and isn't a Word document anymore.

  • Relative hyperlinks in pdf documents printed from visio 2007

    Hello to all. The problem we are trying to solve is to maintain relative hyperlinks that were created in visio 2007 when we publish or print a pdf document. The pdf document that we printed is written in adobe reader 9, and it maintains the hyperlinks but as absolute ones and we required the hyperlinks to maintain as relatives. The idea is to distribute the pdf document with its hyperlinks and the documents that are linked to it in different computers that are not in the same network. The documents that we are trying to link are pdf, word and excel 2007 documents. The operating system we use is Microsoft vista home premium. Does anyone know how to maintain relative hyperlinks in a pdf document printed from visio 2007? Thanks in advance!

    Bernd Alheit, thanks for your answer. We print the pdf document from visio 2007 and then we read it in adobe reader 9. The relative hyperlinks work fine in visio 2007, but they change to absolute ones in the pdf document.

  • Insert hyperlinks in pdf-documents

    Since Mavericks you can´t insert hyperlinks in pdf-documents. I miss this option in the preview. Are there any other possibilities?
    (I have MS Office for apple, therefore the links get lost, if I convert it to pdf).

    No one here can guess what "Apple wants." This is just an end user forum. There are open source alternatives to Pages and Office you may want to research: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6941
    http://www.apple.com/feedback is where you can put your two cents if you so desire to get Apple to consider them.

  • Hyperlink to a Document?

    I don't know if this is even possible with Pages, but since it worked with Microsoft Windows Office I guess (or at least hope) that it is.
    I am trying to create a hyperlink that leads to a different Pages Document. So for example I have a little question: "Did you do your homework today?" - Yes - No (both answers hyperlinked) and if the person clicks on "Yes" it opens a different Pages document saying what their next task is, or whatever.
    I know I could just write everything into one document and do it with bookmarks, and will automatically jump to the bookmark in my document, but the reason I want to do it like this is that if I'd have it in one document the person could easily just scroll around and see "all the solutions or ways" (If it was a quiz for example). I hope that makes sense.
    I did try the "link to a Web-Page" function and using "file:///Users/Macbook/Desktop/Test.pages" as the linked URL but the problem is that Pages automatically inserts a "http:" in front of the typed URL if it's not already there. So I don't know what else to do

    I don't know if this is even possible with Pages, but since it worked with Microsoft Windows Office I guess (or at least hope) that it is.
    Searching in the Help is more efficient than trying to guess
    It states:
    So, it's clear: _there is no way to insert a link to an other document._

  • Hyperlink position in document

    How can the insertion point be relocated in a Word document to where it finds a hyperlink? E.g. I would like to add some text after each hyperlink in a document. So I traverse the hyperlinks using
    For each hLink in Selection.Hyperlinks
    But when I try to reference hLink.Range it says that property is not defined.
    Any ideas?

    Not a  hard thing, refer this
    article. Download this DOC library then add reference to your project, then use the following code:
    static void Main(string[] args)
    Document doc = new Document();
    doc.LoadFromFile("Spire.docx");
    List hyperlinks = new List();
    foreach (Section section in doc.Sections)
    foreach (DocumentObject sec in section.Body.ChildObjects)
    if (sec.DocumentObjectType == DocumentObjectType.Paragraph)
    foreach (DocumentObject para in (sec as Paragraph).ChildObjects)
    if (para.DocumentObjectType == DocumentObjectType.Field)
    Field field = para as Field;
    if (field.Type == FieldType.FieldHyperlink)
    hyperlinks.Add(field);

  • How to convert word documents to html page in sharepoint online 2013

    Hi,
    I am new SharePoint and still learning it.
    I have been tasked to do the following on office 365 E3 SharePoint 2013 Online edition.
    1) I have to create a Web page in asp.net
    2) This page needs to show document from a given SharePoint folder and bind them in a grid or dropdown on the asp .net web page
    3) On selecting the document from the drop down or gird (on asp .net webpage), I need to show the SharePoint word document as HTML on the webpage (something like word to html) Note: These SharePoint word document may contain Images, bullets, tables etc.
    What I have been able to do till now
    1) I have been able to connect to SharePoint from ASP .net application.
    2) I have been able to retrieve document from a specific SharePoint folder.
    3) Read the document from SharePoint folder and bind them to a drop down on the asp .net page.
    What is missing?
    I am not aware about any API that SharePoint Online provides to convert Word document to HTML. Any code sample or reference on how to will be much appreciated.
    I am not also not sure what is the best way of achieving the functionality this?
    Thanks
    Krishna

    If this was SharePoint server then it would be easy however in O365 You need to create a app which will use the word automation service and below is  powershell which you can use for the conversion:-
    # This script will convert Docx to PDF using word automation and similarly it can be used to convert to HTML
    $wordFile="http://contoso/kick.docx"
    $pdfFile="http://contoso/kick.pdf"
    $wasp = Get-SPServiceApplicationProxy | where { $_.TypeName -eq "Word Automation Services Proxy" }
    $site = Get-SPSite "http://contoso"
    $ConvertJob = New-Object Microsoft.Office.Word.Server.Conversions.SyncConverter($wasp)
    $ConvertJob.UserToken = $site.UserToken
    $ConvertJob.Settings.UpdateFields = $false
    $ConvertJob.Settings.OutputFormat = "PDF"
    $ConvertJob.Convert($wordFile, $pdfFile)

  • Add a hyperlink to another document? CS4

    Hi,
    How would one add a hyperlink to a document that refers to another document?
    The basic is:
    myDoc.hyperlinks.add(myHyperlinkTextSource, myHyperlinkTextDestination);
    How do I get "myHyperlinkTextDestination" if it exists in another, unopened InDesign document?
    I suppose I could open the document, get the Hyperlink destination, and then close it again, but in the UI this is not necessary (you simply browse to the required file and can then choose from a list of hyperlink destinations in that file). So how is this scripted?
    Thanks,
    Ariel

    Next, I tried this:
    I opened the document and got it's HyperlinkTextDestination.
    Then I used it when adding the hyperlink to the main document:
    app.activeDocument.hyperlinks.add(mySource, myDestination) //myDestination is a hyperlink destination in another document.
    And I get the following error message:
    Cannot set this property to an object in another document.
    So I'm clearly on a wild goose chase here.
    But obviously this is possible since it is doable in the UI.
    Any and all help appreciated!
