Hyperlinks with optional parameter in BO XI3.1

Hi All,
Can anyone please guide me how can i create a hyperlink which takes care of optional parameter and uses the same when there is a value or drop it otherwise from URL.
I am not sure how no_value used to work, please guide me in that direction too.
Thanks a lot in advance

Hi,
try with this formulas.
1. If you want to pass a single value to a prompt in child report
http://<servername>:<port>/OpenDocument/opendoc/<platformSpecific>sType=wid&sDocName=SalesReport&iDocID=2010&lsSSelectaCity=Paris
2.  If you want to pass a range of values to a prompt in child report
http://<servername>:<port>/OpenDocument/opendoc/<platformSpecific>?sType=rpt&sDocName=SalesReport&lsMSelect+Cities=[Paris],[London]

  • Bind Operator to Function with optional parameter

    Hi,
    as mentioned in the subject, I would like to create an operator which is bind to an function with an optional parameter:
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION
              TS_Base_Func(iobject IN CIBase, format IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT NULL) RETURN VARCHAR2 IS
    BEGIN
         RETURN interval_object.IntervalToString(format);
    END TS_Base_Func;
    I can bind the operator with a VARCHAR2 as second parameter, but how can I bind an operator without the second parameter to this function?
    Thanks!

    What about using a "wrapper" function to implement what you would like to do? Here is a small sample:
    SQL> CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION TEST

      3          A       IN VARCHAR2
      4  ,       B       IN VARCHAR2     DEFAULT NULL
      5  )
      6  RETURN NUMBER
      7  AS
      8  BEGIN
      9          IF A = B THEN
    10                  RETURN 1;
    11          ELSE
    12                  RETURN 0;
    13          END IF;
    14  END;
    15  /
    Function created.
    SQL> CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION TEST_WRAPPER
      2  (
      3          A       IN VARCHAR2
      4  )
      5  RETURN NUMBER
      6  AS
      7  BEGIN
      8          RETURN TEST(A);
      9  END;
    10  /
    Function created.
    SQL> CREATE OR REPLACE OPERATOR TestOperator
      2  BINDING (VARCHAR2)              RETURN NUMBER USING TEST_WRAPPER
      3  ,       (VARCHAR2, VARCHAR2)    RETURN NUMBER USING TEST;
    Operator created.
    SQL> SELECT  TestOperator(1) FROM DUAL;
    TESTOPERATOR(1)

    SQL> SELECT  TestOperator(1,2) FROM DUAL;
    TESTOPERATOR(1,2)

    SQL> SELECT  TestOperator(1,1) FROM DUAL;
    TESTOPERATOR(1,1)

  • Odi os call with option parameter from odi procedure

    Hi.
    I am calling a shell script from ODI as below inside an ODI procedure P1. The os command below is in 'Command on Target' side.I have defined v_in_param as an 'option' inside procedure P1
    OdiOSCommand sample.sh v_in_param
    i am getting error as 'OS command returned 1'.
    Is it the right syntax to pass an 'option' parameter to an OS call?
    thanks

    you can try OdiOSCommand sh sample.sh <%=odiRef.getOption("v_in_param")%> or even call OS Command in ODI Package and paste the above code.

  • How to make a customize form with optional parameter and left join

    Hi,
    I am trying to make a report with a left join. I also want ot have optional parameters in it.
    I am using the Create Reports From SQL Query method:
    SQL is :
    select ename, sal
    from scott.emp left join scott.dept
    on scott.emp.deptno = scott.dept.deptno
    where sal >= :lower_sal
    and sal <= :higher_sal;
    However, if I do it this way, I those 2 parameters are not optional.... How can I make them optional?
    If I use the Create Reports From Query Wizard method, I can make the parameters optional, but then I cannot do the left join...
    Thanks,
    Wilson

    hi,
    to catch null values on both sides I use:
    where nvl(sal,0) >= nvl(:lower_sal,nvl(sal,0))
    and nvl(sal,0) <= nvl(:higher_sal,9999999999)
    otherwise there will be no rows in the report where the value of sal is null, even if there are no selection criteria entered.

    When I run my webpage the Oracle throws below error.Never mind the error - your approach is most definitely a candidate for Oracle WTF.
    Nothing sane about this approach. Especially the decision not to use bind variables and slowing down cursor processing significantly by burning a lot more CPU cycles on hard parsing and fragmenting the SQL Shared Pool in the process.
    Why not used MS Access instead? It is far more suited as a mickey mouse database for a goofy application?
    Why am I badmouthing your approach to Oracle? Because that is exactly the primary cause, the #1 reason, for poor Oracle performance and run-time problems dealing with Shared Pool fragmentation. It is something that many Oracle experts blog about, talk about, write about. It is addressed in numerous books, Oracle documentation, and even Oracle Support Notes.
    And despite the amount of information available on how to get the basics rights in using Oracle... this approach you are pursuing still refuses to die. So it deserves to be beaten with a lead pipe when it rears its ugly head here in this forum..

  • Is it possible to enhance the dynamic search with Option field with custom

    endif.
    BREAK-POINT.
    No syntax error but junk values returned as I had not written the logic for retrieval based on this operator. This means that if you add the selection_param to the dynamic query and then handle that same thing in the GENIL class for the component then you would be able to retrieve the values based on this.
    On the UI , you would be retrieving all the operators for the parameters. There for that particular field you have to add the new operator for your case. And this would be send to the Dquery class and added as a selection param. When the query is executed, if the genil class has been updated to handle this parameter, you should be able to retrieve the results.

  • OPTIONAL PARAMETER WITH NO VALUE SELECTED

    I have an optional parameter and I want to place the selected value in the Page Header.  Since the selected value is a number, I want to give it a name.  The problem I am having is when I don't select a value, my naming forumula doesn't work.  I tried the HasValue function, but I don't think I'm using it properly.
    // This did not work
    IF {?SUPPLIER}= 10001 THEN "NESTLE PRODUCTS ONLY" ELSE
    IF {?SUPPLIER}= 10005 THEN "UNILEVER PRODUCTS ONLY" ELSE
    "ALL PRODUCTS"
    // This did not work
    If (not hasvalue){?SUPPLIER} then "ALL PRODUCTS" ELSE
    IF {?SUPPLIER}= 10001 THEN "NESTLE PRODUCTS ONLY" ELSE
    IF {?SUPPLIER}= 10005 THEN "UNILEVER PRODUCTS ONLY" ELSE
    "NESTLE AND UNILEVER PRODUCTS ONLY"
    Got any suggestions?

    Hi,
    Well if you select multiple values in a parameter and drag the parameter or the formula containing the parameter, then it would always display the first selected value.
    Here's a dirty way:
    If NOT(HasValue({?SUPPLIER})) then "ALL PRODUCTS" ELSE IF
    ubound({?SUPPLIER}) = 1 then
            IF {?SUPPLIER}= 10001 THEN "NESTLE PRODUCTS ONLY" ELSE
            IF {?SUPPLIER}= 10005 THEN "UNILEVER PRODUCTS ONLY" ELSE
            "NESTLE AND UNILEVER PRODUCTS ONLY"
    ELSE IF
    ubound({?SUPPLIER}) = 2 then
    "NESTLE AND UNILEVER PRODUCTS ONLY"
    Let me know how this goes!

  • Hierarchy on HANA Calculation View with Optional Input Parameters Fails

    Hi,
    Has anyone succeeded in building a hierarchy on top of a calculation view with optional input parameters, where an input parameter is not filled?
    The original requirement came from the wish to create a parent child hierarchy on a calculation view that was copied into the customer space from a HANA Live Financial Statement query view, but I have found the following when creating a simple level hierarchy on a calculation view that consumes one table. The Calculation View has one Input Parameter where the 'mandatory' box is unchecked.
    Calculation view reads ECC table FAGLFLEXT
    Simple level based hierarchy on fields PRCTR, RACCT and SEGMENT
    Input parameter is used as a filter for PRCTR with logic ("EMPTY" = '$$P_PROFITCTR$$' or "PRCTR" = '$$P_PROFITCTR$$')
    When I run the view I see the following behaviour in HANA Studio and Analysis for Excel
    Before building the hierarchy I could run the view with or without the Input Parameter
    After building the hierarchy I can run the view with the Input Parameter filled, but it fails when the Input Parameter is not filled.
    Error message is "error: search table error:  [2426] missing placeholder; missing value for mandatory parameter P_PROFITCTR"
    P_PROFITCTR is not a mandatory parameter, but the selection for the hierarchy view thinks it should be. I don't find any notes around this issue, so I don't think it's version related, however the version I have used for this test is 1.00.70.
    It's a shame we can't currently build the hierarchy as the parent child relationship is provided in HANA Live view NewGLFinancialStatementQuery.
    Thanks,
    Ken

    Hi Ken,
    We have been facing similar issue. We have even tried to set default value and as optional parameter. View still fails to create hierarchy (we are not using HANA live). As mentioned on page 97 of HANA modelling guide input parameter is mandatory from engine point of view. Hierarchy is generated as column view during the initial activation of calculation view and therefore expect a value by caller.
    This seems to be a product error. Some one from HANA development team should explain this issue in detail. I would expect someone like Thomas Jung reply to us.
    At the moment, we cant use input parameter for date prompt which gives us calendar popup feature for date selection. Hierarchies just don't work with input parameter. We are missing something.

  • CR 2008 - Optional parameter prompts

    Hi!
    I sometimes use Optional parameter prompts in Crystal Reports 2008.
    The main reason is to minimise user input in Selection Criteria Screen.
    I have many subreports, and not all prompts are needed for all subreports.
    If the user leaves the prompt blank, then a formula will set a default value for the user.
    I usually put the optional prompt at the top, so that user needs only fill prompts at the bottom.
    Here is an example:
    I have a parameter field called "PreferredSortOrder"
    The Edit screen reads as follows:
    Type: String
    List of Values: Static
    Value:
        Original Order
        Description
    Value Options:
    Show on (Viewer) Panel           : Read Only
    Prompt Text                              : Preferred Sort Order [Optional]
    Prompt With Description Only  : True
    Optional Prompt                        : True
    Default Value                             :
    Allow custom values                 : False
    Allow multiple values                 : False
    Allow discrete values                 : True
    Allow range values                     : False
    Min Length                                  :
    Max Length                                  :
    Edit Mask                                   :
    Show value or Description        : Show Value
    My report works perfectly, even if I leave the parameter field blank
    I now add another parameter field called "WhichWarehouse"
    with exactly the same values as above.
    When I run the Crystal Report, I get this message;
    Error running Crystal Reports
    The report runs only if I type a value in the "WhichWarehouse" prompt
    (The "PreferredSortOrder" prompt remains blank)
    I did exactly the same as before. Why does the 2nd optional parameter not work like the first?
    What has gone wrong?
    Thank you
    Leon Lai
    JUST ADDED
    I just noticed that in the Field Explorer,
    (a) There is a green TICK near the parameter PreferredSortOrder
    (b) But no green Tick neat the parameter "WhichWarehouse"
    What does the green tick mean?
    Could this be the key to the mystery?

    Hi Leon,
    No green tick means that the prompt has Not been used in the report.
    If the report has Subreports, and if the subreport also has a 'warehouse' prompt then it could be this prompt that is causing the issue. You should link both the warehouse prompts to make sure you're only prompted once.

    (not HasValue({?Land}) OR {tab.location_code} = {?Land}) and
    {tab.sup} = "XXX" and
    {tab.Accounting_Period} = "200801"

    You need to be careful when using optional parameters. If you are using the optional parameter in a record selection formula you'll need to check and make sure it has a value before you use it. There is a function call HasValue() that you can use to do this.
    If you have an optional parameter in the record selection formula and you don't pass a value you'll need to make sure your selection formula can be completed with out it.
    This is an excerpt from our help file.
    Crystal Reports supports optional parameters. An optional parameter is a prompted value that does not have to be supplied by the user.
    Report designers should provide some guidance to the end user that a parameter is optional by adding this information to the prompt text.
    Optional parameters are treated by Crystal Reports as optional anywhere within the report that they are used. You cannot set one instance of the parameter to optional and another to mandatory.
    Note: After you set a parameter to optional, if you use the Select Expert, the system will automatically add the selection formula for you using the HasValue() function.
    The Formula Workshop Editor does not automatically add the formula. Only the Select Expert automatically adds the formula for you.
    If you change the parameter from optional to mandatory, the HasValue() function is not automatically removed from your formula.
    Handling a parameter with no value
    When the report engine evaluates any formula which references an optional parameter that does not have a value, it generates a runtime error. All formulas that reference an optional parameter should first use the HasValue() function to check if that parameter has a value before evaluating it. This includes record selection formulas and saved data formulas.
    Note: The system will not automatically drop a statement from the SQL WHERE clause. It is the report designeru2019s responsibility to decide which statement to leave out based on HasValue() testing.

  • Building a JSP-based Web Report with a Parameter Form

    Hi,

    i.e for Building a JSP-based Web Report with a Parameter Form. The directions in this document were not clear and if any one document which is clear with instruction will be useful to me. In this example it is shown with search criteria with sigle text box and if any one had idea & code to place an combo box and population of the record group in the combo box.
    Thank you in advance.

    hi,
    we will be releasing a new example w.r.t creating a parameter form using the reports JSP within the next month.
    as for your request for a combo box. this widget is not available via regular HTML form elements. you can either have a select list or dropdown list.
    for a regular select list you would use the following (only pseudo-code)
    <select ...>
    <rw:foreach>
    <option value="<rw:field .../>">
    </rw:foreach>
    </select>

  • How to create a function/procedure which can take optional parameter?

    Hi,
    I want to create a function or a procedure which can take optional parameters. For example, I want to create fun1() or fun1(param1) like this. Only one function will act differently when different number of parameters are passed to it. Something like the substr() function in oracle. It can be called with 2 parameters, as well as three parameters.
    Thanks in advance,
    Kiran

    There are two ways of doing this. The regular way would be to add a DEFAULT clause to your function declaration:
      -- Function can be called with 1 or 2 parameters
      FUNCTION xxxx
        ( param_one  NUMBER
        , param_two  VARCHAR2  DEFAULT NULL )
      RETURN VARCHAR2;Or, if your functions are declared in a package you can do some over-loading:
      PACKAGE yyyy
      IS
        -- Function with 1 parameter
        FUNCTION xxxx
          ( param_one  NUMBER )
        RETURN VARCHAR2;
        -- Function with 2 parameters
        FUNCTION xxxx
          ( param_one  NUMBER
          , param_two  VARCHAR2 )
        RETURN VARCHAR2;
      END;If you are calling server-side functions from client-side tools (like OracleForms) you may need to use this second method.

  • How to set no_value to Optional parameter in XI 3.0 by OpenDoc URL linking

    I found in "BusinessObjects XI 3.0 Viewing reports and documents using URLs Howto.doc"
    "You can remove an optional parameter from the prompt by setting it to no_value in the OpenDocument query string."
    I tested: response.sendRedirect("/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sIDType=CUID&iDocID=AaVxpKuKNBxKnHUJCqwuRi0&lsSCountry=""no_value""&token=" + logonToken);
    But it will filter no data, because no country call "no_value". I still need to delete the value, and click Apply, to get all data.
    I wonder how to achieve optional parameter via opendocument linking, to get a report with "full data set".
    Any one can help?
    Thanks in advance!
    Jennie

    Hi Jennie,
    I'm wondering if "1203675 - Cannot specify an empty string for an optional string parameter through the refresh prompts page which displays "no value" unlike the parameter panel" is related to this.
    Instead of using no value or empty string, how about if you use ALL value for the parameter to bring full data? Check "1218621 - Option "All" in list of values for a dynamic prompt in XI"

    I have SSRS parametarized report in that one data set have repeated values with query parameter . but while am mapping that query

    Hi nancharaiah,
    If I understand correctly, you want to pass distinct values to report parameter. In Reporting Service, there are only three methods for parameter's Available Values:
    None
    Specify values
    Get values from a query
    If we utilize the third option that get values from a dataset query, then the all available values are from the returns of the dataset. So if we want to pass distinct values from a dataset, we need to make the dataset returns distinct values. The following
    sample is for your reference:
    Select distinct field_name  from table_name
    If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.
