? re dropdown list in update behavior

I have a venue table containing a foreign key to a countries
table. The insert behavior works OK.
The URL link contains the correct countries_id (i.e. 225 for
USA). I haven't been able to get the countries or the selected
country to appear in the update behavior page which otherwise
works.
I have used a hidden field to contain the venue_id and
another hidden field to contain the countries_id.
Anyone have a reference to screen shots as to how to make
this work?

SelectedValue='<%# Bind("DivisionCode") %>', but this property does not exist in dropdownlist.
A per the second link, I tried to use the prerender event as follows

Dropdown list not updating when bound db changes

I hope someone can help me. I have a form created by Livecycle Designer ES. It contains a dropdown list populated by a bound to a database table. All works well until the database table is altered. The dropdown list does not reflect the change. It is as if the values were snapshotted when the was saved in Livecycle. I have been unable to find a way to make the list update.
Details:
LiveCycle Designer ES version 8.2.1 - part of Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 with the latest updates.
The table is contained in a SQL Server 2008 R2 database.
The data connection: OLEDB Database,
Provider: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers
Connection: UFN

Thanks for helping. I'm using Acrobat to view the PDF form. Thus, shouldn't have any problem connecting to the database.
I've captured some screenshots as below and hope it helps you understand my situation better.
This is my Access database
This is my PDF. Added a data connection "Product" using SQL Query "SELECT ProductCode, ProductName FROM PUB_Product WHERE ActiveInd=yes" whereby it will only extract the "active" products.
Binded the product code dropdown list with "Product" data connection to populate the list.
The output of the PDF form. Only the active products are being listed.
Now, if let's say I add a new product to my PUB_Product table, the dynamic form will straight away list the new product but not the static form.

In order to see the new product listed in the static form dropdown list, I have to re-open the form in Live Cycle and just simply save it. So my question is, is there anything I can do to skip this "open and save" step?

I updated to 3.6, lost bookmarks, have only a default profile so I restored. The bookmarks are now there but I can't get the dropdown list for many folders so I can't access these. Clicking on the arrow to the right of the folder name does nothing.

When I Click on some of the bookmark folders I do get a dropdown list of sites but not always all of the sites that were bookmarked. If I copy a nonresponding folder, the new copy can be accessed but apparently does not contain all of the sites. If I rightclick on a nonresponding folder and use 'open all tabs' Firefox will tell me the number of sites in the folder and ask if I really want to open so many.

Sounds like a corrupted places.sqlite file.

Undesired database update from a dropdown list

Hi,
I'm using a dropdown list as a criteria to search data in another table which has reference over the data that is displayed in the dropdown list.
My problem is that when I change the selection of the dropdownlist the data is changed with the new selection, I don't want than my selection change any data of the database.
Do you know how I can create a dropdownlist independent of any field of the data base, but at the same time that the dropdown list take the list of values from the database?

One thing you can try is creating a binding in Navigation mode. In the Data Control Palette, select your view instance, instead of the attribute. Select combo box from the "Drag and Drop As" box, and drag the view instance to your page/screen. On the bindings tab of the structure window, double-click the new binding, and you can select which attribute you want your control to display.
Otherwise, you would have to override the list model with your own, and plug in whatever values you want it to display.

The History dropdown list has stopped updating. What can I do?

The dropdown list on the toolbar is stuck where it was weeks ago. All other history lists work, ie All history folders and url dropdown.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

How to Add values to dropdown list in runtime

I wanted to add the items to the dropdown list in the plugin.
The SDK Example WriteFishPrice shows the items are hard coded in the .fr file.
i am looking for a similar concept, but not adding the items in the .fr file, i wanted to add the items in the .cpp or .h files and add the items to the dropdownlist.

Hope this will help you a bit with both threads ; )<br />I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish with defining the strings in an header or cpp file and not in the fr file(s). Usually you sort of predefine strings in the main fr file and then give a "final" translation definition for each string in the corrosponding language file. If you don't need or want to translate you can define string constants almost wherever you like and add them at runtime e.g. during dialog initialization. In this case you'd have to make each string not to be translateable with PMString.SetTranslatable(kFalse).<br />If you want to add items to a listbox or text edit during runtime you just have to get the interfaces and call their methods. Below is a small example taken from a dialog with a dropdown listbox, a text edit field and a button widget. SSRS report - A single selection dropdown list converted to text box

Hello everyone,
We created a single selection dropdown parameter (City parameter) on a report. The data in this parameter is populated using MDX query. Also, it is filtered based on selection of another single selection dropdown list (Country parameter) of a report.
The problem is when there is no cities for the selected country the dropdown list is gets converted to free type text box and user can insert city data in it. Why SSRS is not keeping it as empty dropdown list with no data?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Regarding parameter settings on General tab for both the above parameters we did not select any of the following values, all these checkboxes are empty:
Allow Blank Value ("") , Allow null value, Allow multiple values.
I think it has something related to [Measures].[Amt] that we used in customer parameter. We are now trying to take other two parameters where we would be not using the [Measures].[Amt] to filter the data. Will update you soon.

Custom list column not showing up in View Order by or Group by dropdown list

Hi All,
I have created a custom list with a custom column called "Description". Some items in the list do not have a description. What I wanted to do is create a view where the items with a description show first, and the items with no description are
at the bottom of the list. I thought I could make a simple view that uses the Order by or Group by on the description column.
The problem I am having is the description column doesn't show up in the dropdown list for either Order by or Group by within the custom view. Can someone please tell me why this happens and if there is anything I can do to rectify this problem.

Hi,
I believe the "Description" field type is Multiple Lines of Text. Sorting doesn't allow in this field type. In order to do the sorting, you would require to create additional column like single line of text column (note that it supports only 255
chars and require to truncate the data if more than 255) and update the data using event receiver or workflow. and do the sorting with that column.

Table Control Dropdown List Problem

I have this problem with my table control.
I now have an input field (with input help) called: Reference Table, as well as a table control.
What i need is to select the table names (select from the Reference table input help) and the field names will be populated inside the table control (according to the field names inside the respective tables) as a dropdown list.

Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 Dropdown List Fill from a spreadsheet

I am a new user to Adobe LiveCycle Designer and have created a form which a manager is required to fill out for each of their employees.
I would like to create a drop-down object which will contain the name of the employees, so the manager can just pick the employee from a dropdown list and then fill out the evaluation. We have over 1000 employees, so I don't want to type them in one by one.
Please let me know how to link the list of employees to this form from another source.
I can put the list of employee names into an Excel spreadsheet or an Access Database.
I have tried following information posted in different places in the web, but I must be doing something wrong??
I would appreciate a step by step guide of instructions to help me accomplish this task.

Select the Drop Down object and add a sample name thru the object UI. Now view the "XML Source" TAB, it shows xml code similar to the image.
Now need to prepare all the names from the excell, place all names in one column of excell and copy paste the <text> and </text> nodes to the names(hopefully each column at a time). now need to copy all together and prepare final version to copy notepad (may require some replace all with spaces to format properly) then from notepad only update the above xml source . while going to design view it may pop-up warning message of changed xml, and click yes, now all names should be present in the dropdown. Hope this works.All we are doing here the form design is from "XML Source" tab insted of adding one by one from the object from design view.

Change the data of a gallery witn a dropdown list

Hello,
I hope someone can help me.
I have a gallery in my app. And on top a dropdown list with 8 different texts.
I also have 8 rss feeds. Now I want that the gallery change the rss when I change the dropdown.
Is that possible?
Can someone help and say what I have to do?

To date you cannot dynamically change datasources from a gallery to my knowledge. However to make your scenario work you can do the following

look at
Combining multiple feeds in a single gallery (processed with REST)
And then based on the dropdown add a filter (http://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn690139)
Depending on the loading times and the volumes in the rss feeds you may experience some slowing down.
You can create your supercollection in the OnVisible behavior of your screen.
You can also work with a collection of collections but that's a bit trickier to manipulate the data.

How to have a unique list of items for separate dropdown lists?

Software: Acrobat X (10) pro on Windows
I want to create a pdf form in which all dropdown lists are populated with the same list of items to choose from. If I use the same field name for all drop down lists, the item selected in one dropdown list is automatically selected in all lists. This is not what I want. I wish to be able to select a different item in each & single dropdown list. I could of course maintain separate item lists for each field (using separate field names) but what a waste of time!... especially as the field lists would then have to be updated separately. There's got to be a better way to do it.
Any idea how this could be achieved? Thank you.

Here's a sample script that first defines a list of items in an array and uses it to update a number of dropdowns, name dd1...dd10:

That's all there is to it. This can be run from the Mouse Up event of a temporary button that you create, the interactive JavaScript console (Ctrl+J), etc.

Dropdown list to change image field linked image?

Hello,
I am quite new in Designer but I have to complete a job and I don't find the solution.
I try to update on a form an image field using the value of a dropdown box and a "if" script.
I use linked images (not embedded ones) and try using a script calling the image Field. value. image. href property.
The property is well updated as export to xml displays well the new href value but the image is not displayed as something was missing to activate it.

Rather simple (don't laugh at it) but it doesn't work.
I found solutions for embedded images via visible/hidden by dropdown list (not yet tested) as these ones. I give them below for reference (if some other users are interested)

But not for linked images (path or URL). By the way, I found same problem descriptions in other forums but without any proposed solution.

Have a look at this blog, http://blogs.adobe.com/formfeed/2009/11/linked_vs_embedded_template_im.html, it turns out that both linked and embedded images are stored in the PDF but just in different ways. So updating the href at run time will have no effect.
If you are not in a possition to store all the images in the PDF at design time then you might have to look at setting up a webservice to access them on a server.

Combo box vs Dropdown list

The Java Studio Creator (2004Q2, Update 8) help screen says that �Dropdown lists are the same as combo boxes in Swing and Microsoft Windows.�
According to a SUN Java Swing web page, �Combo boxes require little screen space, and their editable (text field) form is useful for letting the user quickly choose a value without limiting the user to the displayed values.�
How does one get the Combo box functionality (i.e. editable text field) in Dropdown lists in Creator?
