while you are with the person selling it to you, ask if you can do a complete restore of the software settings->general->reset->reset all
reboot the phone to factory settings and see if that fixes the problem. if not, i wouldn't buy it unless they are selling it to you for less than $50. wifi is crucial for keeping data low and using features like facetime

The system preferences are set to "Never" for Computer sleep and Display sleep. The computer does not ordinarily log off automatically, but it has done this twice since I started the Time Machine backup.

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select

Remove the app from your device and reinstall it. Remember that deleting an app also deletes its data.
Delete the app.

It's a really bad idea to post your email address and IMEI number - it's an invitation to spam and a security risk - and I've asked the Hosts to remove them.
Are you saying that the phone is locked because the previous owner left his ID on it? If this is the case only he can unlock it, either by giving you the ID and password, or by removing it from his list of devices (see the page you came here from). If you cannot contact him and get him to do this you will be unable to use the phone.
Or are you saying that you locked it and have forgotten the ID? In that case please see

I bought an iphone 5 in second hand and therefore performed a factory hard resert. So you are explaining a situation where a legitimate user needs help from Apple. Why wont Apple help? Apple knows everything about the iOS devices that are on its network. If the iOS device is attached to an Apple account then Apple knows about it and the owner. I have an Apple account so Apple also knows about me and the iOS devices that i own already. Apple even has my credit card info on file.
I dont expect you to know if an iOS device that i bought was stolen or not. But surely Apple knows cause they can send an email to the seller who has the iPhone still attached to their account and tell them that i have their phone. Then Apple can tell that seller they have a certain amount of time to respond or the iOS device will be removed from their account. Thats the best that Apple can do for their customers to protect their devices. Apple does the same whenever i buy something on the App Store or change anything with my iOS devices on iCloud. They send me an email telling me what happened and what i can do if that info is not correct. Why cant they do it with these second hand buyer activation issues?

I do the download for the new version, it goes smooth, and then when I try to open it up, it pops up in my Task Manager for a moment and then disappears. No error messages, just disappears.

try launching your QuickTime. does it:
(a) launch perfectly fine?
(b) fail to launch with an error message? (if so, what does it say?)
(c) exhibit other peculiar behavior? (if so, could you describe it for us?)

TS3276 I recently got a new Macbook Pro and got a free update OS X 10.9.1 which includes Keynote, Pages, Numbers. The only problem is that I am unable to send my Keynote Presentations using gmail, even after compressing.

After reading other posts on this and similar boards, I tried Pages and Numbers and can't send those files to a gmail recipient either.
I can send to other eMail addresses I've tested however, it seems to be isolated to gMail accounts.

I downloaded iOS 5 and then I found my Apps were missing. So then I looked it up on the web then found the fix. The only problem is that half the apps I downloaded are gone. One of my favorite, Angry Birds, which I bought is also gone.

I need help! I downloaded iOS 5 on my iPod 3rd generation after backing EVERYTHIGN up 4 times and I think I might have synced it. But just forget that I synced anything. So then when I tried to Restore Back-up it DID NOT work. This was my first time using iTunes, and I ALWAYS download throught the APP store. So then I found the fix online. I actually found 3 different ways:
A). Go to the App store and then go to 'UPDATES' then go to Purchased and download everything you need.
- This didn't work for halfmy apps.
B). Go to the iTunes store, go to File > Sync iPod then wait a LOOOOOOOOONG time.
- This also did not work, and not just in the case of my missing apps, all my apps were just sitting there. Nothing happened. I deemed this as USELESS.
C). I have a premonition that this option should work, but I can't find it. I have to go to the SUMMARY tab under device settings then click restore. The onlyproblem is, I CAN'T FIND IT! It probably should work.
BOTTOM LINE: Some of my favorite Apps such as Angy Birds and Madden NFL '11 are now gone. I have no idea what happened. And my backed-up iPod on iTunes only has like 14 apps out of 100sof Apps.
PLEASE HELP - SLL ANSWERS GET 5 POINTS

Have you looked on all the pages of your iPod? Have you looked in all your folders? Have you you tried finding the apps using the iPod's search page.

I have a new mac book pro, and since have transferred all my information from my old to my new. Now i have what looks like a partition. Am locked out of programs unless i switch users. Can this be fixed??

This i a frustrating problem for me, i have to keep switching users to access different programs, ie- no office on my new side. Even my i tunes libaries are different. Any suggestions out there.

Out of Memory when trying to apply redaction to a document, how can this be fixed?

I have a user that is trying to redact a document, and when she tries to apply the redaction, she is getting Out of Memory error, any thoughts on this? Is it a computer memory issue or something in the program that I can dump something to make room? Thanks.

Please mention the configuration of your system specially CPU and RAM.
This error usually occurs, if you run too many memory-extensive applications simultaneously. So try performing those redaction tasks after closing some of the background processes/applications
