However recently my computer died and I am considering replacing it with an ipad eventually. Can I still add stuff onto my two devices? And if so, am I limited to apple store purchases only? Can I retain all the photos and non-apple store downloaded music that is presently on these two devices? Any guidance in this area will be very welcome!

iTunes cannot transfer this media back to a computer. Make sure to back up your iTunes Library, or you can use iTunes Match2.

Same application on both ipod touch and iphone

Is it possible that you're not supposed to be able to use the same Free Application (in this case New York Times) on both iPod Touch and iPhone 3G? I seem to be able to access NYT on my iPod but not on my iPhone.

I'm still puzzled. I am logged in to the same iTunes account.
And both my iPod Touch and iPhone are said to be properly synced. Both of them have five different applications that I really like (New York Times, Wunder Radio, etc.). These applications all appear on my Home Page of both iPod Touch and iPhone but they only work on the iPod Touch.
I can't figure it out.
The only clue I have to offer is that a couple of times the applications will work if the iPhone is miles away from my computer and my iPod Touch. Could that mean something?

Since latest update, Sound Check on Ipod touch and Iphone doesn't work.

My playlists have always played at an even volume before Sunday's software updates to Itunes, Ipod touch, and Iphone. Now my playlist volumes are all over the map. I teach a fitness class in a large room to 70 people, and this is ruining it!! Apple support on the phone told me it should work. Yes, it did work until the update, and I didn't change anything until I noticed it wasn't working anymore.
Now I have uninstalled/reinstalled Itunes, restored my Ipod Touch as a new Ipod, and even deleted and reloaded my music. Still not working!!!

Just a stab in the dark, but check:
Settings -> WiFi -> (your WiFi network) -> HTTP Proxy
Set the Proxy to Auto and see if that helps.

IPod Touch (and iPhone) can't find Belkin N Wireless Router

I spent over an hour looking for an answer to this problem today and accidently found a solution - so am posting the answer.
Have a 2 year old Belkin N Wireless Router (model F5D8236-4v1) with SSID broadcasting on and WPA/WPA2-Personal (PSK) security selected.
All the Windows laptops in the house could see the wireless SSID and could successfully log in after entering the WPA/WPA2 password.
Both iPod Touch and iPhone 3GS could NOT see the SSID. Also entering the wireless router IP address directly instead of the SSID did NOT work.
After an hour of looking for solutions on-line, including:
- Tried no security
- Tried WEP 64 and 128 bit security
then stumbled across a thread in a forum where someone referred to changing a "-" (dash) in an SSID name to a character. So tried this.
The old SSID name includes spaces - "name name1 name2". I deleted the spaces, and the problem was solved.
This Belkin router comes with a default name of BelkinN_WirelessXXXXXX, but does not say in the online help to NOT use spaces in the SSID name. And again, the Windows laptops could see the wireless Router while it had the SSID name INCLUDING the spaces in the name.
Hope this saves at least one person going through the same wasted hour.

Click on the blue arrow to the right of the network name, if IP address starts with "169." ,restart your router. It should connect properly after your router reboots in a minute or two.

It won't be a problem. You can use an 'unlimited' number of devices (iPods, iPhones etc) on a single iTunes account.
I rushed off to O2 on Friday after work and got myself an iPhone.
I backed up the iPod touch first (which was running 3.0 by that time) and then activated the iPhone using the iPod touch backup. Pretty much everything synced across exactly as it was on the touch (i.e. all Apps and paid apps), notes etc. One app I had never got to run on the iPod (iOSMaps) suddenly appeared on the iPhone too. Much like when you get a new Mac you find that all your settings and windows are preserved. When I opened Safari on the iPhone the last two pages I'd been looking at on the iPod were open. The only things that didn't sync were my emails - which of course downloaded shortly after the account details were synced (this is as expected), the iPhone suddenly being named 'iPod touch', my home WiFi password didn't sync and my email signature (not surprisingly still read - Sent from my iPod touch'.)

Is there any reason I would have a problem syncing both my ipod touch and a new iphone on the same computer? I want to have all of my music on both. My iphone arrives today and wanted to avoid any major issues.

Normally I would recommend this...
Plug in the iPod, uncheck the box to show artwork on the iPod then sync the iPod (all artwork will be removed from the iPod).
When it is done, reselect that check box and sync the iPod again (all artwork added to iPod).
This often times clears up display issue with artwork on the iPod.
However, I don't think you get the show artwork option for the iPhone, correct?

I just updated my ipod touch, and it will not work now.

I just updated my ipod touch... i think its 3g... to the newest thing, and now i reset my ipod and it just goes to a bluish green screen and won't turn off, or do anything but reset. when i reset it it goes to the apple logo and then right back to the blue screen. What can i do?! also, it won't connect to my computer.

You can not update an iPod Touch 3rd Generation to iOS 6.
Only iPod Touch 4th generation can update to iOS 6.
iPod Touch 5th Generation will come with iOS 6 already installed.

How can I share address books between Mac's and ipod touch and iphone

I try to share some of the address books with my family on our Macbooks, ipod touch and ihopnes.
Similar as with iCal via the cloud.
Is this possible ?

ITunes erased my library(!!?!), I put everything back and iTunes is now saying my iPhone 4 is not synced to my library any more. This also happened with my iPod Touch and now iTunes will not update, resync and put all my music back.

I have never used another computer to sync my phone or ipod too. I do not want to lose everything. I am quite frankly at the end of my rope and thoroughly regret the fact that I am stuck with an iphone 4 for 2 years.

Sounds like you've taken the wrong course of action after a missing library error. Ideally you would have just restored a backup at the first sign of trouble.
Each iTunes library contains a unique ID that is also recorded in any device that syncs with it. After your rebuild the two IDs won't match so iTunes will try to treat the devices as "new".
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Alternatively, for each device...
You should be able to transfer your purchases into a newly authorised library, backup the device, recover any non-store purchased media with the tips in this post from forum regular Zevoneer, (skip this if you've already got all the media) then restore the device from the backup you just made. That should preserve all your data and switch the assocation of the device to the new library. I've had positive feedback on this method from other users but I've never had to test it personally.
