Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?

I cant update my software. It downloads updates , then says, 'an error has occurred and updates have not been installed'. I am now behind 6 months on updates. Any idea how to fix this?

I'm having problems with iPhoto and the facebook set-up. Every time I attempt to do so it says an error has occured and try again later. I have not seen a solution posted. Therefore, how does one contact Apple to solve the problem? I'm new to the world of iMac but I find it a bit frustrating trying to solve basic issues/problems:(
For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

Mountain Lion upgrade download stopped, now it states in purchased apps that 'an error has occured' and resume button is blank & will not work. Tried to re download, but it states code has already been used

From the App Store menu bar top of your screen click Store > Check for Unfinished Downloads
If that doesn't help, disable anti virus software and turn off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security & Privacy.
Keep in mind, for downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband (high speed internet) access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation. -
I am getting an error message saying "an unknown error has occurred" everytime I try and down load an App. My ID and password are entered correctly. What am I doing wrong and how do I get rid of this?

An update of iMovie failed with the message "an error has occurred." That message remains posted by iMovie on the Mac App Purchases page. iMovie is now unavailable. It will not start, update, or reinstall from purchases page. How do I reinitialize the app?

I tried to update my OS (Mountain lion) to mavericks, but i can't seem to download. There's a 'an error has occurred' in red beside the free upgrade bar.. what should i do?
It's possible something has become corrupted in your AppStore cache folder. I had the same problem that occurred after I did a partial download, paused it, and attempted to restart it again later. Here's how I fixed my problem:
Enable AppStore Debug menu:
1. Quit AppStore completely.
2. Run Terminal and enter the following on the command line: defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
3. Restart the AppStore. You should see a new menu called "Debug".
Clear the download cache:
4. In AppStore, select Debug menu / Show Download Folder
5. Quit AppStore completely, but leave download folder open
6. In the download folder, select all files/folders, then delete them.
7. Restart AppStore. You may need to sign in to your Apple account again.
You may need to restart your computer to be able to delete the files from the trash.
You can then try the download again. -
Mac app store "an error has occurred" and greyed out button for download
I'm trying to download an app in the mac app store.
It's got stuck and nothing seems to get it going again.
I get "an error has occurred" and the button along side is grey.
If I click the button it does a little animated click and nothing happenes.

And when checked backtrace under System Diagnostic Reports, there is something like:
Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[NSKeyedUnarchiver initForReadingWithData:]: incomprehensible archive
So it's possible that update files were corrupted. Try to remove these files and re-try again.

From Terminal check if you've temporary files here:
ls -la /private/var/folders/*/*/*/com.apple.appstore
And then try to remove them (you may backup them first just in case):
rm -frv /private/var/folders/*/*/*/com.apple.appstore
Or eventually run Finder and go to: /private/var/folders and Trash all the folders (if something bad happens, restore it from your Trash).
And re-try again.
Removing all the folders from /private/var/folders it actually fixed the problem on my laptop. -

Every time I try to download iBooks from AppStore it give me a unknown Error when it starts to load. Has any one else ever had this problem and any way to fix this.
ThanksFixed!!--Same error issue, but I hadn't downloaded any apps that required syncing. New iPad2 this Wednesday (6/15/11). Per other suggestions on this forum I tried hooking up to the laptop (already had latest iTunes loaded before my iPad2 came), iTunes started up, went to Apple iStore, login, confirm payment, try to download 'iBooks' it says I already have it. Look at the iPad and it's there.
This fix took all of 3-minutes and all is good. Now to learn to move things around. Newbie here Thanks to the forum for tips on things to try. I need to go back through documentation to see why I had such a problem. Not exactly plug-n-play, but then again, I fighting the urge to 'right-click'. Love the iPad2 so far. My first Apple-anything. -
"An error has occured" everytime I try to download it.
Hi Guys
I am getting "An error has occured" everytime I try to download it. Lion is sitting on main task bar. I have even done Disk Repair Permission, Rebooted couple of times and using AppleID when I purchased. Its same Mac Pro when I purchased it and I don't have any pther Mac machine. I have paid and got confirmed by e-mail for purchase. Totally frustrated. Why can't apple allow to download DMG file to install it?
Anyone experiencing same issue? I may ask for full refund. Wasted nearly 4-5 hrs for nothing and money has been taken. Not happy at all !!!!!I have been facing the same problem. Downloaded Lion OSX the first time and after downloading the entire thing, it said "error has occured" which is so wierd.

I have a macbook pro - 4gb - 13' inch -
When i take a photo or a video using the camera on my ipod touch, the computer (windows xp) shuts down and a blue screen comes up saying "an error has occured" and a heap of oth stuff in white. It doesn't wipe the memory or anything off the ipod. Whenever i sync my ipod without photos or videos it works fine. It also doesn't mind me taking photos off itunes to put on the ipod. I have had a look around and a couple of people say reinstall itunes, but i don't know if i will lose all my songs and apps. Any suggestions of help?
Removing all Apple related software and reinstalling iTunes should bring all needed drivers back: Removing iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Also check for new driver updates for Windows, especially if you have a webcam installed.
iTunes Store purchases or songs imported from CDs are saved in your My Music folder by default and are not deleted by removing iTunes. While it is highly unlikely that you will lose any contents of your iTunes Library when following these steps, it is always a good idea to ensure that your iTunes library is backed up. HP Sprinter show error while running new rest as "An error has occured and Sprintet needs to close."
Hi All,
I have installed and prepared one Data Injection scenario and then have Run the test couple of times and then closed Sprinter. Then I create another Data Inject test and "DataInjextExample.xls" and have added it in "Add Data Set".
When i execute this new Data Inject Test, it shows me error with referance to a data field ('Full name of first or sole applicant") from earlier Test's Excel data sheet where as I have alreadty removed DataSet referance from the "Add Data Set".
Error message:
An error has occured and Sprintet needs to close. " type does not have property named 'Full name of first or sole applicant", so cannot dort data collection.
Please see the following error and help me with possible solution.

asandyHi, Once you launch Sprinter, make sure the Sprinter Agent is running.
Now go to the Notification area and uncheck the option which says "Start Sprinter Agent when Computer Starts"
Click on Reset.
Restart the computer and start working on HP Sprinter.
Please let me know if this worked.
