I believe the logicboard of my Pro is going out... How much would a replcement board and instalation cost me?

Same as the crazy title says... I just want to know the answer to the question... I'm honestly getting frustrated at Apple's Support Communities... Having to sign in 40 times before I got this far... Anyway! Please, I just want to know if I should just save the hard drive and get a new laptop, or if I can save the one I have.

Well, the laptop itself was acting unnaturally slugish (like, 30 min to start up and shutting down or freezing mid venture), so I did a few system checks, RAM passed the test, the hard drive didn't (something that should have taken a few minutes took 15), so I thought the hard drive was failing; so I bought a new one. Lappy wouldn't even see it as a hard drive when I went to install the OP... Thought that Harddrive was faulty, so I tested it on my brother's Mac Pro Laptop; he's saw it right away, no problems at all... Tested my old hard drive in the same way, again, no problems... So what else could it be besides the logicboard? =/
The HD cable/connector. Try the MBP's internal HD in an external enclosure, preferably FireWire. See if it will boot the MBP and if it runs normally.

  • I want to purchase the Adobe Creative Suite cs6 master collection. How much will it be? and how do you purchase it?

    Hi,
I want to purchase the Adobe Creative Suite CS6 master collection (not the creative cloud) that contains Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Adobe Bridge, Dreamweaver, Flash, After effects, Adobe Premiere Pro.. etc. and I think this is the bundle that I'm looking for.
I want to know how much would it cost, and how would I purchase the Adobe cs6 softwares (from a store or online)?
I prefer to have the actual CD/DVD of the adobe cs6 bundle, would that be possible?
or do you have to download it online and get the serial number online too?
    Thank you

My Windows 7 Pro went completely doo-Lally - I reinstalled the Windows 7 but I forgot to do anyting with Itune.
What I would like to know is, how do I get 2 playlists back into Itunes and then move audiobooks back into them.
As I said earlier, I have no backups from Itunes at all - I think I might learn a lesson from this

    Many thanks.
With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:

  • Premiere Pro on Mac, just how much would I be missing

I've decided to switch to the new iMac from my old pc that I've been using for years. As a student I have only enough for 21.5 inch at $1199 without configuration. With Final Cut out of the picture I've decided to use Premiere Pro and buying Production Premium. I haven't bought the iMac yet and having heard that Windows have better support then Mac platform. I'm having doubts whether Mac platform is worth it especially if I'm using it just for what's in Production Premium.
Effects and transitions missing, fine aslong as there are superior and similar features in place. But otherwise what am I missing?
Mercury playback engine, CUDA what's the deal with my iMac and AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 512MB
(sorry if I sound like a total idiot, I'm new to all this)
Other missing features, differences between Mac and Windows with Premiere Pro and After Effects
Should I stick to PC are there comparables to the $1199 iMac?
Appreciate any answers... I am totally clueless as you might be able to tell.

In your case, stick with PC. An iMac has absolutely no internal expansion capability whatsoever besides the RAM. And as of the newest series, Apple has messed with the BIOS to now only allow Apple OEM hard drives to be used internally. An aftermarket internal hard drive will not work at all with the current iMacs. That leaves you with only the four USB 2.0 ports, one Firewire 800 port and one Thunderbolt port for external device expansion. There are no eSATA or USB 3.0 ports at all whatsoever on any iMac. And because Thunderbolt external hard drives are extremely rare (if they even exist at all), you're stuck with USB 2.0 (molasses-slow) and FW800 (still slower than SATA/eSATA) for any hard drives. What's more, the $1199 iMac comes only with an i5-2400S CPU, which is a gimped version of the i5-2400 that sacrifices stock clock speed in favor of lower power consumption: The stock, non-turbo speed is only 2.5GHz versus the 3.1GHz stock speed of the normal i5-2400 (in fact, the stock non-Turbo speed of the i5-2400S is slower than even the 2.8GHz i5-2300).
And that's not to mention that you can configure a PC with a faster CPU (i7-2600K), a far superior GPU (GeForce GTX 550 Ti), much more RAM (16GB, versus only 4GB in the $1199 iMac) and three 1TB 7,200 rpm internal hard drives (versus only a single 500GB hard drive in the iMac) for only about $200 USD more (including a large case, a high-quality 750W+ PSU and a Blu-ray burner) than the iMac (which, by the way, is essentially just a midrange-level MBP inside a much bigger package). And due to the poor multithreading performance of OSX, the $1199 iMac would be more than five or six times slower than the $1400 PC build I mentioned at the beginning of this paragraph even if the CPU in the PC build is left at stock speed (in fact, the base-model iMac would have been slower in performance in Premiere Pro than most of the old Core 2 Quad systems and even some of the i3 and Core 2 Duo systems).

If you have iTunes 11 on your Mac then you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S, that might make it easier to navigate.
Connect the phone to your Mac and select it on that left-hand sidebar, and on the right-hand side of the screen there should be a series of tabs which you can use to select what to sync to the phone. If it's an audiobook then it should appear on the Books tab for selecting/syncing, and films will be on the Movies tab. When you've got the audiobook on your phone you should get an Audiobooks option in the Music app (you might need to tap the '...' tab at the bottom of the Music app to see it).

  • How do I find out how much space I have left on my macbook pro? I downloaded the new mavericks operating system and can't figure it out. Before the space would be at the bottom of my finder.

I downloaded the new mavericks operating system on my macbook pro and I can't find out how much space I have left. Before the installation of mavericks, storage space left was displayed at the bottom of the Finder window.

In the Finder, under the View menu there is an option to Show Status Bar.  Select that and you will see the info on the bottom of folders again.

I updated to yosemite os and was in the middle of a project with final cut pro 10.  Now it says final cut pro is incompatible.  How can I access my project and/or update final cut?

There is this offer of a trial version FC Pro X with 30 day runtime:
    http://www.apple.com/final-cut-pro/trial/
Too bad you didn't have a complete backup that could run the previous OS X
and then you could resume using an earlier Final Cut Pro (10) or (7) since a
clone would have been a means toward that position.
    http://www.apple.com/support/finalcutpro/

This appears to be another good reason to check out all the reasons why one
would want or need to upgrade a working OS X version, since these kinds of
events are known to happen as a direct result.
Sorry to not have an answer to this, other than try & use the Trial version...
Or see if someone at Apple sales/support can field your issue w/ an answer.
    Good luck & happy computing!

Well you won't have very much storage capacity with a SSD that small, also SSD has limited writes, so it wouldn't be good for on-loading and off-loading a lot of files.
SSD isn't being securely erased due to steps to prevent their premature wear, so despite what you do in Disk Utility Secure Erase, your confidential data can still be recovered if you pass the machine on to someone else for instance.
Other than those reasons, small SSD's can be extremely fast, loading your programs and OS much faster. But the real benefit in high speed storage is transfering large amounts of files on/off the computer to ANOTHER fast device. This comes in handy for video and large music collections and so forth.
Since the SSD because of it's limited writes doesn't fit the bill as a large file transfer medium.
If you want to get a SSD drive, you can upgrade it yourself simply by ordering one online at locations like Other World Computing or NewEgg and have a 00 micro phillips head screwdriver handy.
There are instructions over at iFixit for opening your MacBook and replacing the hard drive with the SSD.
Preferably you will want to clone your present boot drive to a external drive using Carbon Copy Cloner, then making the switch and hold option to boot from the clone and then clone from the external to the new internal SSD drive.
Prices of SSD are varied, Apple won't replace it for you
This is currently the fastest SSD availalbe

  • How to completely remove mac os and install windows 7 on macbook pro with retina display 15 inch

how to completely remove mac os and install windows 7 on macbook pro with retina display 15 inch

There's not much sense in purchasing a Mac to run only Windows on it.  Keep in mind that drivers for Windows are a secondary concern for Apple.  While Windows will typicall run fine, things like power managment are not optimized under Windows (you'll get less time on battery while running Windows).  You will also not be able to install firmware updates.  Firmware updates might be necessary whether you run Windows or OS X as they are updates to the code in your hardware and are not OS-specific.  You must be running OS X in order to install a firmware update.  You can do this even if you boot off of an external drive with OS X installed on it.  At the very least, you should keep just a small partition for OS X on your internal drive.

Can I upgrade my RAM from 4GB to 8GB for my MacBook Pro 13(early 2011 2.7GHz)? And how much would it be?

you can upgrade to 16GB if you wish to do so...
average price for 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 is around $50 - $75 depending on the brand.
why not spend $100 and go with 16GB 1333MHz from Crucial or Corsair.
you can get them from Amazon.com or newegg.com
see image below with 16GB Patriot Mac Series 1333MHz for $100.

I think I closed my laptop with something inside and when I reopened it, there was a fairly large crack in my trackpad on my 13 inch Macbook Pro. How much would it cost to get the trackpad replaced?

I suggest you take it the Apple Store and allow them to look at it. The may be much more damage then you are able to see.
