I bought a computer with Photoshop CS6 already installed, but I don't have the serial number - can I still transfer this software to a new computer?

I currently have a MackBook with Photoshop CS6 installed. This came with the laptop when I bought it on eBay, therefore, I don't have the serial number for the software. Can I still transfer the Photoshop CS6 from this laptop onto a new one?

No.
Whoever sold you the laptop should have removed the software first, or gone through the proper process to transfer the license to you. Chances are that they used it to obtain an upgrade, in which case it would not even to eligible to be transferred.

You are allowed to have two activated installations. If you happened to have one on this Windows 8 machine before, it is possible that the activation used for it was never deactivated (did you deactivate it before you upgraded Windows?). Talk to Adobe support thru chat. They might be able to resolve this with you:

Need to re-install my CS6 student edition, but I don't have the complete serial number?

My hardrive failed recently and I was able to get the serial number from Photoshop (under system info in help) before the whole thing went caput.
However, it seems I am four numbers short of the whole serial number, and for some reason my registration for cs6 no longer appears on my account her on adobe.com.
Adobe's newly revamped site not only won't list my previously registered products, which includes an Photoshop Elements but it also won't provide any helpful phone numbers or IT chat lines for me to rectify the situation.
I have my serial number and the product code if needed as well as my adobe ID info.
Please provide me with a direct link to some sort of submission or help line form with a direct output to a human being (not the support page which is just a useless link clicking adventure) or a phone number

Put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Reset Password. After resetting the password use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for startup and restart.
