I bought a new computer. The one I had was about 5 years old. There is no way to connect my Palm Vx cord to the computer. What do I need to buy?

Summary:
- Uninstall all palm stuff.
- DO NOT plug in your cradle
- Install Desktop from your CD (ignore problems about no serial connection)
- Download the USB adapter "Palm - Support - PalmConnect USB Kit Driver Download for Windows XP" located at http://www.palm.com/us/support/accessories/usb/winxp_USB.html
- Plug in your cradle via USB.
- When prompted browse to the extracted located of the USB Kit.
After installing the driver there is now COM 3, which if you Start -> Run -> msinfo32 -> Components -> USB you will see in the right hand panel "PalmConnect USB Adapter (COM3)"
- It looks like this driver is pretending to be a serial port, which means you also need to put a check in "Serial" (I have disabled USB in hotsync even though I have no serial ports and MUST connect via USB). Right click the HotSync Icon in the taskbar -> Local Serial (enable).
- Configure HotSync to use Com 3, Palm Desktop -> HotSync -> Local -> Serial set it to "Com 3".
- Try a HotSync, it should now work.
After you have verified that the HotSync via USB is working on the original Desktop, you can upgrade to a later version, just make sure the configuration to Com 3 is still there.
I Upgraded to 4.1.4 and HotSync is still working.

I went through the entire uninstall process including deleting all my temp files before reinstalling.

If you still have an issue you may have to see about using the iTunes version (application) included with Snow Leopard 10.6 from the installer or an another one if available online, and see if that will install.
Sometimes you may have uninstall the bits left in your system by the earlier (or later) iTunes installers; as they all leave a trace and these can stop a different version of iTunes from being installed.

Even though it worked previously with your iPhone, connecting via a USB hub is not recommended.

I had this happen as well. after I replaced the batteries it went to acting strangely. Same thing on glossy surfaces only.
This happened once before, and I thought it was broken, and just like pepi70 I think I remember an accidental drop fixed it before, wondering if I should drop it again, I have already tried banging it lightly with my hand to no avail.
Maybe more people have had this problem but didn't think to try it on glossy surfaces. Very strange it only works on glossy...

Try deleting the song and downloading it again from the iTunes Store.

Was the FCS on your old machine an upgrade? You will need to enter your original, full version serial first, and then you will be prompted for the upgrade serial number.

The Menu Bar, the Commands, the Tool Bar, the Color Palettes, and etc., etc., are all real small on my display -- I would estimate they are about 1/3 of the normal size. Same problem with Illustrator. I've made all the Screen Resolution and Print-Size settings and nothing remedies the small display. (My working page is fine; it's just the display that is REAL tiny!!) How do I transfer data from old hard drive to new mac exactly the same as it was on my old one?

Unfortunately my 2009 iMac has been written off due to a faulty motherboard. Thankfully the company we got the mac from are providing me with a brand new one at no cost as I am under warranty. My old hard drive had many important documents and applications on it and we have requested for the old hard drive back. What I would like to know is how to I go about transferring all the stuff of my old hard drive to my new iMac? I would like everything to be set out exactly the same as it was on my old mac so basically I would like it cloned identical on my new mac from my old hard drive.

In general, most people will recommend Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper! You can find either one easily enough with a web search.
However, in your case, I imagine you are going to have a hard disk returned to you all by itself, and you will need to install it in an enclosure. Don't let that bother you as this is easy to do and the enclosures are not expensive ($40 or so).
Once that is done, I would recommend you set up your brand new Mac by answering all the questions during initial setup as usual. Be sure to use your correct Apple ID - probably the same one you used to log into this support forum. When you reach the point in which it asks you if you would like to transfer your old documents and settings, connect the old hard disk and select it as the source. It will take some time as it copies all its contents to your new Mac. All your familiar items will be exactly as they were on the failed Mac.
After that, you can use the old hard disk as a Time Machine backup. When you are satisfied everything on your new Mac is running as it should, go ahead and erase the old disk. Then, tell Time Machine to designate it as a backup, and the rest is automatic.
