I bought a song on iTunes on my iPhone -- I can play in on iTunes on my Mac, but I cannot download it and transfer it to my iPod.
I use the same Apple ID on all my devices, but I ge the following message when I try to download the song: "song cannot be downloaded because it was not purchased with your Apple ID". Then, I tried to go purchase the song again from iTunes on my MacBook, and I get a message from iTunes alerting me that I've already purchased the song. Help!!

Help. As I said in the title, I bought a song and the payment went through but the song didn't download properly and I can't even delete it in order to re download it!
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Then see if you can delete the song. Try swiping across it in the downloads tab or if it did get into the music app swipe across it in the songs tab. -
I bought a song on itunes on my mac yesterday and it won't play on my iPhone
I purchased a track on iTunes via my mac yesterday and it will not play on my iPhone 6. In fact, it doesn't even show up in my music library on the phone when I sync it with my iTunes, yet everything else is fine. Any help would be great..
Hello there, abafc.
It sounds like you may want to setup Automatic Downloads for your purchases to download on your iOS device as well. The following Knowledge Base article offers the steps on how to turn that feature on:
Enable Automatic Downloads
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4539
Turn on Automatic Downloads on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Store.
Sign in with your Apple ID if necessary.
Tap the content that you want to automatically download. If iBooks isn't listed, you need to download iBooksfrom the App Store.
You can turn Automatic Downloads on or off over your cellular network on an iPhone or iPad Wi-Fi + 3G. Go to Settings > Store and turn Cellular Data on or off. Cellular Data downloads are limited to a file size of 50 MB or smaller.
Additionally you can try downloading the content to your device using these steps as well:
Download past purchases
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
Music
Tap Settings > Music and make sure Show All Music is on.
Tap the Music app.
Find the item that you want to download.
Tap the Download icon.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

I just tried to play some songs that i have in itunes and i get an error message that says file can't be located. It appears to be on about half the songs of the thousands I have in there. I do have a new computer and transferred the itunes library about a month ago. I have successfully managed ipod on new computer. I wonder if it is a licensing issue but this is just the second computer althought the third hard drive these songs have been on. It is affecting songs loaded from CD's and purchased from itunes on the old computer alike.
Hi angela dfromtx,
When tracks in iTunes display a it means the file cannot be located; it may have been moved or deleted. You'll have to locate the file manually if it is still available. For more information refer to the following article:

Alternatively, if your media was downloaded from the iTunes Store, you may be able to download it again free of charge:

I recently bought some songs from itunes, and I tried to sync my mac air laptop to my nano ipod, but it didn't work. I usually use my PC computer to do this, and my music is in the itunes library on my mac, it just won't sync to my ipod. When I tried to sync my ipod to my PC to see if the computer was the problem, my recently purchased songs still didn't show up. Any ideas as to what to do? Thanks!

I bought a song on itunes a while ago and I couldn’t back up my ipod because I needed more storage. Once my ipod was updated, ALL of my memory was deleted (since it wasn’t backed up) and I couldn't get my song back without paying for it again. Is there a way to retrieve it without paying for the second time?
Just follow these instructions:

I have just bought four songs from iTunes store using my iMac. I can play the music on my iMac and throughout my Apple TV. However after several restarts and double checks I can't get the four tunes to sync with either my iPhone or my iPad. All the software is up to date.
do you use the same Apple ID on your iMac, your iPhone and iPad? This is a requirement.
