I bought an iPod touch 4G on eBay, it worked ok for about 24 hrs, then started to constantly go to black screen and I had to reset it all the time. I googled and it seemed like restoring it through iTunes would possibley help.

Well, the restore won't work and I've tried all the trouble shooting steps (turn off 3rd party sercurity, tried 3 cords, all the usb ports on 2 different computers, iTunes and windows (vista) are completly up to date). The iPod is now stuck in recovery mode. iTunes does recognize it, but won't restore. I've contacted the person I bought it from and he seems willing to take it back - but I don't know if in recovery mode - if all my info is off the iPod? So my question is two fold, if I return it is my personal info safe or does anyone have any further ideas about how to restore it? I keep reading about Tiny Umbrella, but that seems to me that that would be jailbreaking it (the seller said it was not jailbroken) and I don't want to do that in case I need to return it to the seller.

What happens when you try to restore the iPod? Error message?
If this program will not get the iPod out of recovery mode your data should be safe.

I have a theory. You don’t want to controll your car, you want to controll somebody who is driving the car. Volvo XC 60 is a nice family car, usually used by married men between age of 35-45, probably with small children, so it’s very unlikely that you want to controll your teanage kid, mainly because probably even if you would give him/her to drive the car in the neighborhoud, I don’t think that he/she would be „several hundred miles away”… If your child is not young teneage anymore, and he/she has his/her own life, but you want to control him/her, that is sick… So I am convinced that you want to controll your husband who probably travelling often! Tried to reset network settings ...only fixes it for 15min. Did a firmware restore and a clean new phone setup. no settings restore. still have network service after around 60min. still running 6.1. i do get a prompt that i have to update settings to LTE. Have not excepted the settings as yet. Cellular data is still set to 3G....

I bought my iPod Touch yesterday and now that 2.0 is out, I was wondering if Apple will let me get it for free because that is what they did with the January 1.1.4 update for people who bought right before. Anyone know anything about this?

It's really unclear since Apple's press releases, etc.. pertain to iPhone 2.0 and not iPod Touch 2.0 (technically iPod Touch is still version 1.0 at retail) I would schedule an appointment with an "Apple genius" at your local Apple store and ask them to update it for you (they have the means to do this, not sure if they will or not)
My guess is that in a few months we'll see iPod Touch 2.0 offically rolled out, just as with iPhone 2.0 the 2.0 Touch should have a few hardware updates and come with the firmware 2.0 pre-installed. Apple may make the 2.0 firmware available free to iPod Touch 1.0 users at that time (I expect they will). If the Apple genius tells you they can't do this, then your option is to pay $10 through the iTunes store or download the firmware 2.0 file and perform the operation manually, the later option may disappear soon and it's not clear if it's legal or not.

Late 2009 MBP fans turning at 5600 rpm all the time, bluetooth unavailable and wont turn off

I have a late 2009 MBP, about a week ago the fans started turning at around 5600 rpm constantly, they are very noisy. The bluetooth has also stopped working, the icon's drop down menu says that it's not available. In addition, the computer won't turn off, it restarts immediately after shutdown. I have reset the PRAM and SMC but with no luck, this has been annoying me greatly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You've already done the two things that I would suggest (resetting the SMC being at the top of the list). Your fans may be failing - I had the same problem with one of my fans and it had to be replaced.
The problem is with your other situations - I would really suggest backing up your data and making a clean install of Lion to see if that rectifies your Bluetooth, shutdown, etc., problems (as the SMC reset didn't). If that fails then it's time to visit the Apple Store and have them run diagnostics. Just curious, though... does Bluetooth show up under your System Profile as being connected via the USB hub under Bluetooth USB Host Controller?

I reset SMC and now fan is running high all the time

I reset the SMC after finding info on here about the built-in iSight not working. Once it came back up the iSight is working, but the fan is on high all the time. I'm not sure what to do with this. History prior to resetting SMC: I hadn't used the camera since the hard-drive was replaced in October. However, my kids have used it to video chat via stickam with no problems yet iChat and Photo Booth wouldn't recognize the internal camera (System Profiler could see the camera). So I tried the fix I found on here - resetting the SMC. It fixed iSight but now the fan is on high all the time. Any thoughts on what I should do next?

Hi, an SMC reset is one of the things usually recommended as a possible fix for loud fans, not the cause. There are a few troubleshooting steps to take, but you'd be better off posting in the Intel iMac Forum. You are in the iMac G5 Forum. You have a newer computer. They'll try to help you over there.
EDIT I'm basing this on your SMC reset, which would indicate an Intel Mac. Sure it wasn't a PMU reset?

I have a macbook pro 4GB Ram, 2GHz Intel Core 7 processor and all the time since few months ago is like running for 2 sec. and stuck for another 2 sec.

I already tried to fix it by opening just a few windows but is not that. And is killing me because anything I want to do is just like the machine responds now, now not, now yes, now not. Sometimes is ok, just like now but really isn't much time. I can't even watch a movie on itunes, not even in youtube, it lasts up to 3-4 minutes to load.

Mavericks is no longer available from the App Store, so your choice is Yosemite. One option is to create a new partition (~30- 50 GB), install the new OS, and ‘test drive’ it. If you like/don’t like it it, you can then remove the partition. Do a backup before you do anything. By doing this, if you don’t like it you won't have to go though the revert process.

Question about the WRT54GS and having to reset it all the time!

I just got this router a couple of days ago. I bought it online on eBay. It seems to have been used before.
It seems like whenever I am away from the computer I get kicked off the internet. I have to unplug it and reset it and once it comes back up it works fine. I have two computers on this router, one hard wired in and one wireless.
The problem of being kicked off the network seems to happen to both. It is only after I reset that I get the network back up and can access the internet. I have set up the WEP security feature and am using the network provided by the graduate school.
I had an old crappy COMPUSA router that worked fine with no problems. However it was used and I was not able to set up a secure wireless network. I got the Linksys because I trust it and can wanted to have the option of securing the network.
There are several wireless networks in our building and I think they may all be set up in their default state. All of them have WEP or WPA security set up.
Please advise!
