I can't acess FLA. files

I recently purchased a Flash Template that they said could be
edited in Dreamweaver.I have unpacked the files and they are all
visable on my computer.Including the FLA. file (where i supposed to
use to edit flash content).
When i open the template through Dreamweaver the FLA.files
are hidden.I am able to access and edit the site.WHY IS THAT?
I am able to acess the index files edit and save the content
,BUT it does not save it for flash mode.Meaning when i view the web
page in flash, no changes are shown. When i go back to the
site.Index files they show the changes.Huh!.
Can someone help.

> WHY IS THAT?
DW cannot open FLA files. Flash can open FLA files, and can
produce SWF
files from them. DW can INSERT SWF files on a page, but
cannot *open* them
either.
> Meaning when i view the web page in flash
We are really confused, including me.

  • Can I develop fla files in flash demo and have my friend...

Would it be legal for me to develop fla files with the demo version of Adobe Flash CS5 and have my friend, who owns a full copy of flash pro, to export them to swf? This would be much like using the developer version of ColdFusion.

Do you see something that would indicate you cannot make full use of the trial?  You'd have to research the terms and conditions of use, but I don't believe there are any restrictions on the purpose of use of trial versions. And I doubt there is any way to distinguish a trial version swf from a paid version swf.
Logically, if commercial use of what you create with the trial version is illegal, then having your friend publish what you created using the trial version for commercial purposes would still be illegal.  But I simply don't think it is illegal.
If you remain skeptical, then your safest bet is to go to the source and ask Adobe directly.

  • Can't Open FLA files

    Hello,
This just started happening, not sure why. If I have an FLA
on my desktop, and I double click on it to open it, I get an error
    that says:
"Windows cannot find <directory to my file\myFile.FLA>.
Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again. To
search for a file, click on the Start button, and then click
    Search."
But if I go to File --> Open and navigate to the file on
my desktop, it opens no problem.
Also, if Flash is already open and I double click on a file
on my desktop, it opens correctly.
Has anyone ever experienced this before?
Any help to get rid of this annoyance would be greatly
    appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Doug

I have had this same problem with After Effects on a PC.
I too would like to know how to fix this.

  • Flash CS4 can't open .fla files or lose files/graphics

I installed Flash CS4 Professional trial version for school use.  It wouldn't install successfully.  I deleted the font files the troubleshooting guide said to, tried again, but gave up. (I'm afraid to run regedit and mess up everything else I have loaded.)  (I previously had the Fireworks CS4 trial version loaded, then uninstalled it.)  My problem is this- I have it running, but it saves files and then they can't be opened, even if I use the save function often- it's worse when I create the file, test the movie and then save.  If I try to open it again, it says "cannot open file."  Once it opened a copy I had saved, and it appeared blank, even though it was 544 kb file size.  I only need it for a few more days, one more assignment and I'm afraid my previous files are corrupt.  I have Windows Vista Home Edition.  I'm tired of redoing files!  If CS4 is unstable like this, I don't want to buy it!  Fireworks didn't have good help menus like Flash does, but at least it ran well; or do I still have files that didn't uninstall from Fireworks causing trouble?  Anyone?
    con calma

I tried it- no good.  When I reinstalled it, I got a fatal error 1603, with the color common set rgb uninstall color profiles rollback.  I deleted the color files again, and tried to run regedit, but the last item Adobe advises to do in troubleshooting I didn't see as an option in Regedit in my Vista, so I let it go.  I will uninstall and reinstall once more.  I ran checkdisk- ok, and malware remover, so no problem there.  Vista won't let me run backups, but I did export my regedit files, so here goes nothing- last resort; I can't open my Flash files or they're corrupt still.  I tried calling Adobe, but the phone doesn't recognize the number I punch in for which  support I need- the message keeps looping.

  • Newbie question - how to save images out of an fla file

I have what I'm sure is a very basic flash question. I have a flash movie (swf) and the accompanying fla file. I can open the fla file, and see all the images used in the file (symbols in the library), but how can I export or save one of these images separately from flash?

you can right click, copy an image and then paste it into your choice of photoediting software.

  • Trouble opening fla files

    Good evening,
I rebuilt my system because Windows Vista was acting a bit wierd. After reinstalling all my programs and restoring my saved data everything is running fine, except when I attempt to open a fla file I get a "You don't have permission to open this file" message. I must confess that when I orginally built my system 3 years ago it was after a great dinner and consuming the better portion of a bottle of wine.  In that state, my username got misspelled.  In the current rebuild, I corrected that problem.  All of my documents ar now under a username with the correct spelling.  The only program that does not allow me to open old data files is Flash CS4.  Could the new username be the cause of my problem?  More importantly, what do I need to do to open those fla files?
Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I discovered a "work around;" if I open Flash as an administrator I can open the FLA files.  I imagine this is a Windows issue and not one for the Flash Forun.

  • Help My Fla file corrupted while saving (System shut down while saving)

Hi everyone does anyone have any solution for this. I am using Adobe CS5 my week longs work of animation is all gone. I checked the forum for solutions and i found so many like updating my CS5 Software e.tc. I finally found one where they said u can convert ur fla file to a zip file. and check the library assets to see which one is corrupted but the problem is that i could find only one symbol in the libary folder where as i had about five symbols in the fla file. Pls I really need your help. The size before it was corrupt was well above 24mb but now all i can see is 13MB i really really hope i can resucue this file as i dont have any backups.

backups are always smart.  use a naming convention that's convenient for you.
i use projectname_01.fla, projectname_02.fla etc.  whenever you save, use a new name.  it's not unusual for me to end-up with projectname_49.fla.
if you like tidy directories without lots of files, you can move older flas to and "old" or "previous_versions" subdirectory.

  • Can't open PC .fla file on Mac

I have searched archived messages and although there have
been posts about this, no one seemed to have any answers. So, I
thought I would ask again. Oh, and please don't laugh!
My company had a web site built back in 1998-1999. The
outside person they hired to do the site created a Flash animation.
I do not know what version was used or for sure what platform (PC
or Mac). I do have the .fla files as well as the .swf files to work
with, but when I try to open them I get this error message.
"This document contains embedded objects that were created
with Microsoft Windows version of Flash. These embedded objects
must be deleted before opening on a Macintosh."
I am trying to open the .fla files using an old Mac version
of Flash 4. (Yes, I said please don't laugh!) My company will not
allow the resources to buy an upgraded version. Can anyone tell me
why I am getting this message? How I can open these files? or
ANYTHING I can do? Thanks for the help.

i think your company's lack of resosurces allocated to
software updates has finally caught up with
    them :p
The only thing you can do is find flash 4 - install it on a
pc - open the FLA and well...come to
think of it - i have no idea what that error could mean - FLA
    files are cross-platform. Original
author must have embeeded windows video files or something -
i cant even remember what flash 4 did
or did not support. Flash 4 didnt have a dependant files
    feature (i dont think).
chances are the error is generic and the real issue is that
the file is old and possisbly corrupt. I
dont have flash 4 anymore but you could post the fla to see
if it can opened at all - on PC and/or
MAC - then try downloaded the 30-day trial of flash and
editing it - or search ebay for flash 6 or
even 7 at a cheap cost.

  • How can I convert a flash object on a webpage to a fla file?

I made a flash effect for my friend's site and he won't let me get the flash back after a fight. I can see the effect on the homepage of his website. Is there any way I can get the flash to an fla file on my computer? Is there any way I can find the swf file on his websites system and convert it to an fla? Please help, thanks.

Open the web page where this swf is placed then go for the source code by right clicking on page anywhere. Then find the name of the swf file like if the name is myFlash.swf then search it but if you do not know the name then just search .swf you will get the file path on your friend's web. like it would be yourFriendWeb.com/flash/flashFile.swf or what ever is the name. Then copy the link and paste on your web browser and when the swf is opened then save it by going to File menu.
Now you have the swf file on your PC. Now the task is to convert it to fla. This thing can be done by a flash decompiler like Flash Decompiler Trillix. Decompiling will end up with your orignal fla file.

  • (How can we) Import Flash Professional .FLA file format?

How can we import a Flash Professional .fla file format into Flash Catalyst? It would appear that we can't...at least not yet! I have added this as a feature request within the adobe labs site for Catalyst. Someone at Adobe suggested that I also explore the forums, so here we are. If you would also like to have this feature added, please let Adobe know by promoting the
    idea.
Our use case is this: we have a large Flash file with a library of over one thousand skins and assets that were built in Flash with Adobe's Flex Skins Templates. These stateful, graphical skins were used within a custom theme by several Flex 3 projects.
Now that we are looking to migrate to FlashBuilder 4, and start to use Spark components, we are trying to find a workflow that allows us to use Adobe tools and to reuse our existing vector artwork. Since we have such a large number of assets, we are exploring various approaches, including the use of JSFL. So far we haven't found a good way to migrate from Flash-built skins for Flex 3 to Catalyst-built skins for FlashBuilder 4.

    Hi Ajay,
    See attached V 7.0 example...
    Hope it helps,
    Nick

  • I Can't Open a ".fla" File

I was sent a flash file via email and now I cant open it. My computer is asking for an application to open it. What do I do? It was probably created on a pc. Thanks in advance!

An FLA file is a Flash source file that contains all the animation and graphics. To manage this file you should have Macromedia Flash MX 6 or higher installed on your computer.
To open an FLA file in Macromedia Flash editor you should select "File/Open" from the top menu and browse to the location of your FLA file. A simpler way to open your file is just to drag and drop it from your file browser to your Macromedia Flash editor window. Also, if FLA files on your computer are based on the Macromedia Flash software, you can just double click it in your file browser and this file will be opened and ready to use.

  • Help - can't open a fla. file

I have created a fla file and I was working on it today when
flash crashed and since then every time I open that fla file, flash
crashes again! any ideas? I have been working on this file for more
then a week and I was just about to finish it!!! HELP!

Don't mean to sound bad but you should have backed up your
file during the week, also save as new file with V2 at the end of
name just so that if it gets screwed up you always have the other .
In terms of fixing your file, have you tried opening another
fla file and seeing if it is just flash prog that has a problem and
not file. Also if possible can you try opening the fla on another
    computer?

  • FLA File Can't Be Opened

    Hi
I use Macromedia Flash 8 Professional. I created a menu for
my website. The problem is that when I close the program and open
the file again to edit it or continue my work, I notice that some
of the Graphics and Movie Clips are replaced by some of the other
Graphics and Movie Clips. Well.. that's the smaller problem, the
bigger one is that for some reason the program started to refuse
opening the file. It shows the following message when I try to open
    the file:

    massage
Is this a bug in the program? or is it the FLA file? Can
    anyone help me, please?
    Regards

did you save a version of the older file? copy it to another
computer or hard drive? sometimes files just get corrupted and
there's nothing you can do about it...it doesn't happen very often,
there is often times no logical explanation for it and is certainly
not unique to flash, but there you have it. it sucks when it
    happens...
i wouldn't know of a way to fix this file--maybe try and open
    it on another computer?
    good luck,
    albee
