I can't compile mplayer and FVWM because of missing X11 libs

when I compile fvwm 2.5.16, I got this error:

  • [SOLVED] Can't compile hdjmod and hdjcpl from AUR.

    Hello,
I've bought a Hercules DJ Console MK2, and I would like to use it with Mixxx.
It doesn't seem to be recognized by Mixxx, probably because no drivers are installed.
So I decide to install hdjmod from AUR.
It also gets hdjcpl (dependency), but while compiling, it fails.
    Here's the error message :

Do you have any idea about the reason I got this error ?
What are the prerequisite to install these drivers (I mean, is there any other dependency that isn't asked in the PKGBUILD ?) ?
    Sorry for my bad english.
    Thanks for future answers.

    Welcome to the forum skYzer!
makepkg can show you if there are some dependencies that you didn't installed, and makepkg with -s option does it for you automatically, so it installs all the dependencies.
If the author missed this dependencies from the PKGBUILD, you can see on the url address in the PKGBUILD (so on the author site) what do they write about dependencies, in last case try it manually, and see config.log, or similar outputs.
Btw, it can be built by  me without any problem.
Last case you could build it manually, without using fakeroot environment, and the PKGBUILD from maintainer.

  • When ever I try to sync my iPad2 to itunes i can never completely "update and download" because after the entire process it says "Error: unable to complete update /download, network timed out"!  Why? I have wi-fi in my house

I can't complete my iPad2 update and download, ever.  It says my network timed out and I don't know why.

Temporarily turn off any firewall or anti-virus software you have on your PC while downloading.

  • Help! Can't update iwork and imovie because "You have updates available for other accounts".

I recently purchased Macbook Pro with iMovie, iwork keynotes, pages and numbers preloaded in the machine. Now the App Store icon indicates that I have updates available.  So when I open up app store and click update, I got an warning stating " You have updates avaialbe for other accounts - to update this application, sing in to the account you used to purchase it".
I called tech support.  I was told that I must have had another account.  But clearly I don't have another account.  I'm not alzheimer.  If I had another account, I would have remembered it.  I used the same account for ipod, iphone, itune for many many years.  So I went on the support communities for help.  I read some post saying I should add my hard drive to spotlight privacy, then remove it.  I tried it, it didn't work.  Some said I need to enable something by entering a script to the terminal.  I followed the steps, it didn't work. Then some other post said that I should delete the apps, then reinstall it.  So stupidly enough, I deleted keynotes to "TEST" if it works.  Guess what? I completed removed keynotes from my macbook.  I can't even recover it?! At least before I deleted it, I had the old version of keynotes although obsolete, still functional.  Now I removed it, I don't even know how to reinstall it.
So, I'm so update and dying for help.  Can someone please teach me how to make my Macbook understand that I only have one account and let me update iMovie and iwork? Also, how to restore the accidentally deleted Keynotes?
    Thank you!!!

You're just going to have to get back to the support folks with your Apple ID problem - http://www.apple.com/support/appleid/.
They should be able to rectify the problem.

  • Can't delete itunes to update because of missing msi file

Had virus issues with my computer.  Now finally got the add or remove list to re-populate and tried to update iTunes.  Kept saying error, can't find missing msi file. Read to manually delete all apple/itunes files including quicktime, etc.  Itunes won't delete because computer needs to find this missing msi file.  Have rebooted numerous times.  Should be  a quick fix, I would think.  Please advise!! Missing my itunes  Thanks

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner:
With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescirbed for most gltiches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.

  • I need linux assembly (libasm) but I can't compile it

Hi. I'm trying to compile a ton of stuff right now and one of them is mplayer from svn. I do not want a work around. I want asm http://asm.sourceforge.net/ but whenever I try and compile it, I get endless NR__uname compiling output. It is really irratating. I am also trying to compile x264 from vlc's git repository but I need asm for that as well and I do not want to use the --disable-asm flag (do not ask why) so I am litterally freaking out and thinking about switching to Debian.

I hit Control C to stop it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way I already have nasm and yasm installed.
Reason I want to switch to debian:
    http://packages.debian.org/stable/libdevel/libasm-dev
However, libdvdcss sucks on debian so I'd really appreciate any help. I hope this question is dumb enough to be answered here. If not, I will ask on IRC Freenode. Please post. If you do not know the answer, please direct me to someone who would so I can email them.
Thank you so much in advance as you have saved my life.

I can compile Mplayer and FFmpeg from subversion fine here. My copy of Mplayer doesn't use the internal ASM stuff, but that's because it's getting compiled into FFmpeg instead. I do know that Mplayer prefers it's own internal copy of libdvdcss though. Try what deej suggests: use YASM instead of NASM, and see if Mplayer builds for you.
    --EDIT--
All of the ASM code that I'm aware of in Mplayer was written by, or is overseen by, the x264 team. They use YASM.

  • I can't compile in WindowsXP? =(

    Hello everyone,
I upgraded my PC to WindowsXP, but when I try to compile my java progs in the command prompt, I get the following error:
' javac' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Can anyone help me with this problem, cause I can't compile java programs anymore =(

Because I'm new to Java, does anyone happen to know where I can get a bytecode compiler so I can make programs that run with .exe (Like every commercial program out there? Or is there no solution to that?<You got your terminology wrong. "javac" is a bytecode compiler. It converts java source into "bytecodes" that run on a "Virtual Machine". To create an "exe" you must have a "native" compiler. There are a few available, the good ones are commercial and cost a lot of money. It also turns out that Sun's server VM (default in 1.4 now) is faster then some of these pricey native compilers in many situations. This is because modern VM's use JIT's or "Just In Time" compilers to create native code on the fly.
My advice to you is this. Use one of the many nice deployment methods available for java before you start to worry about native compilation. "executable jars", Java Web Start, bootstrap launching programs... all are good options.

  • Compiling JavaFX and Java into a single JAR

Perhaps I am missing something, but is there a simple way to compile both Java and JavaFX sources into a single JAR? The issue is cross references between Java and JavaFX. Using javac or javafxc separately, cross references are handled by the compiler. But as far as I can tell, there is no compiler that compiles both Java and JavaFX sources, so that nifty solution is not available. The only solution I know of (which is not simple) is to break the sources into separate collections that can be compiled separately and in the right order before building the combined JAR that I really want.

I've noticed my application has a JAD and a JAR, the JAD being much smaller. When I run the JAD a mobile emulator pops up, but it's not the same one I see when I debug. Also, pressing 'launch' does nothing.
I don't know if this is related to this original post, but how does one merge the JAD and JAR?
It seems like the emulator that comes up is related to the Mobile Toolkit. If I wanted someone to review my mobile application, what would they need to actually run this thing?

  • Mplayer and VirtualBox error after installing ATI Drivers

I recently switched from the Open Source drivers for my ATI video card.  Since that time some programs are refusing to load.
I switched to the Catalyst repository to install the new drivers for my card.
The specific error message I get when running the mplayer in the terminal is
mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libdirectfb-1.4.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    the message for VirtualBox is
VirtualBox: supR3HardenedMainGetTrustedMain: dlopen("/opt/VirtualBox/VirtualBox.so",) failed: libdirectfb-1.4.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
So far only 2 programs have been giving me this error are mplayer and VirtualBox.
I have tried reinstalling directfb and mplayer, but this doesn't fix things.
I have run ldd `which mplayer` and the following is missing
    libdirectfb-1.4.so.0 => not found
    libfusion-1.4.so.0 => not found
    libdirect-1.4.so.0 => not found
    I am running 64bit Arch.
    Thanks for your help

    Thanks
    wonder wrote:LD_DEBUG=files mplayer > log 2>&1
After running that, I discovered that sdl needed to be rebuilt. Once I did that, everything works fine.

  • I just replaced the power supply in my Intel imac and now the screen is really really dark and I see the missing folder icon, what do I do?

The power supply in my Intel iMac went out (and smelled pretty burned) so I replced it and now when I start it up the display is so dark I can hardly see it and it shows the missing folder icon. Is it the inverter? Or if shine a flashlight on it and re-install the OS will changing the display settings maybe fix it?

Thanks for ur quick reply to my problem. I tried all of that with no results... I did notice tho that the lights next to and above my caps lock key and my num lk key are now flashing. They flash in unison three times then there is a two second pause then they flash three more times and this repeats. They may have been doing this before I tried this solution but I did not take notice until now... I was also wondering how I am supposed to know, after pressing f10 to enter bios, how I can tell if my new drive is being detected when my monitor will not function? Was pressing f10 supposed to possibly make the monitor turn on? In a last ditch effort to try and further identify the problem, I re installed my old drive. Before replacing it my computer would begin to boot then display a hard error that would not allow me to continue booting and run Windows. My display would still work but I could not run Windows. After re installing the drive the monitor will not turn on. I'm beginning to think that I have a bad monitor. Is there a way of testing this with out buying one? Where does the monitor connect to the mother board? I wonder if maybe its been jarred loose, although I highly doubt it, it may still be worth looking at. Thanks again for your advice.

  • Can't access to several sites because when I click a link, or I insert login and password and clickto enter, it just open a new tab, either blank or the same as the previous. i.e., can't save my changes on FB, can't look for a location on googlemaps, etc.

I changed in about:config "network.protocol-handler.expose-all" setting it to "false" to allow me to use Sopcast player (which I added on "network.protocol-handler.app.sop"). But after that, every time I have to, i.e., look for a location on Googlemaps, when I entered it it just open a new tab with the same page I was in; every time I click on a link it doesn't redirect me, it open a new page; I can't save changes on Facebook because when I click on "save changes" it just open another FB home page in a new tab; same problem with opening my bank account, etc. Even here, I could not get in when I tried to login. Now I put back "true" on "network.protocol-handler.expose-all", but, of course, Sopcast doesn't work anymore. What can I do? I'm using Firefox 6.0.2 on Ubuntu 11.04. The Trubleshooting informations I attached here are those that gave me the problem, before I made the aforementioned changing going back to "true". Thank you

I think I may have found the problem. It's embarrassing to find it minutes after posting the message yet I tried to solve it off and on for three days! My brother who is a 20 year Mac user has been trying to help me too. I guess it's true what they say... sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. LOL
I turned off the parental controls. What I don't understand is that the no website restrictions box was checked. To me this means I should be able to go to any site I wanted. Can anyone explain why I couldn't got to a HTTPS page on a parental controlled account even though there were no restrictions placed on it?
It's late and I need sleep. I'll leave this open for now until I have more time to test it.

If you cannot get mail to quit/force quit, you can always remove power from your Mac.
NOTE: removing power is a bad idea, and can result in data loss, but sometimes it is the only thing left to do.
Press and hold the power button for 5 to 10 seconds, and the Mac will power off.
When you power back on, the Mac should reboot.
