I can't find my deleted photos in iPhoto --

I inadvertently deleted several "flagged" photos in iPhoto, but they never appeared in the iPhoto trash where I thought I might be able to restore them to my photo library.  I can't find them anywhere in my albums or events.  Where have they disappeared to and how can I get them back?

Well, actually I haven't been using Time Machine, but your mentioning it reminded me that I had backed up several photo files on a CD and I was able to retrieve it from that.

Look for them on your old computer, when found copy the files to a USB drive and move them to the new computer.

  • IPhoto can not find the original photo, does iPhoto copy the photo or just make a thumbnail?

    Hi,
I'm scanning and putting all of my (paper) photos into my computer and then into iPhoto, tagging them, and doing all the time consuming things necessary to build a good library.
I've tried to open a few of the events and look at the photos I put in but I get an error that iPhoto can not find the original photo.  When I put a photo into iPhoto does the program only make a thumbnail copy with a link to the original, or does it actually copy the photo into the library?  I'm thinking the former.  Because I have a Time Machine backup, a hard copy, and (presumably) a copy in iPhoto, I have been deleting the photos AFTER putting them into iPhoto.  Do I need to keep the photos I put in iPhoto on my computer?  Will I need to go into TM and restore them?  Will I loose the information like Faces, Places, Keywords, if I do?
    Thank you much,
    I'm working with 9.1.2

I have exactly the same problem except my photo is named "L1000093.jpg" and it's been there for a year now, but suddenly, when I wanted to view it in it's album, ("Favorite" which has been there for a year too), it says "The photo P1010311.jpg cannot be found"!!!  What the heck is going on?  So I canceled, went back to the album, clicked on L1000093, clicked "show event", went over to Event, clicked "reveal in finder" and there it is, iPhoto Library/Master/blah blah blah... L1000093.jpg!
Where the hack did that P1010311.jpg came from?  Sure I have that photo, but it's in a completely different event and a different album!  What's is iPhoto 11 / Lion / iTunes 10.5.3(3) up to?
So I threw L1000093jpg into the trash, went into Lightroom, find the original, re-export it, load it again into iPhoto, added it again to the album (favorite), and guess what?  I just did all those and the same "The bloody photo cannot be found" message popped up and when I go to finder, there it is.
This is a bug.  It's been a bug since 2006 as far as I can remember.  And Apple had never done a complete fix.  It's an if thing!
And the most frustrating part:  Althought they call this an Apple forum and you have to sign in to participate, I have never seen one Apple software guy here saying "this is what to do", just us victims helping each other and many non-Apple folks guessing to the best of their ability to comfort us.
Oh, toys are toys.  I sometimes wonder if Steve had fought so hard yet the cancer in Apple actually won!

  • Where can i find a deleted photo on my ipad, Where can i find a deleted photo on my ipad

I deleted a photo by accident on my ipad and now i cannot find it.  Has it actually been deleted?

Yes, once deleted it's gone, there is no trashcan or undelete facility on the iPad. If it was on the iPad when you last synced/backed up then you could try restoring the iPad to that backup and see if that restores it - but you will need to restore the whole iPad, you can't just restore one photo or one app.

  • Aperture 2, i can't find my deleted photos

I have aperture 2, ans i accidentally deleted en entire project of pictures from a trip im having, the pictures are not in the desktop trash and there is no aperture trash in aperture 2, so i don't know where they could be? thank you

As you wrote there is no Aperture trash in version 2, when a master is deleted it is put in the system trash directly.
    See Alix's previous thread, Frank:
i can't find the aperture trash
And that is what I found in the AP2 manual:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/Aperture_2_User_Manual.pdf
To delete a master and all its versions from a project:
1  Select the image, then choose File > Delete Master Image and All Versions. A dialog appears asking if you want to continue.
2  Click the Move to Trash button.
The master and all versions are deleted. ......
Warning: This action cannot be undone. Once you click the Move to Trash button, the master is moved to the Trash. All versions and their adjustments and metadata are permanently deleted. To permanently remove the master from your hard disk, empty the Trash.

  • How can I find and delete videos from iPhoto?

When I use iMovie to create a video for You Tube the program loads every bit of video I have in iPhoto.  I have attempted to delete all of the old, unused, videos but they do not all appear in the library list.  I have several videos that come up in iMpovie that I can't find in iPhoto.  Thanks for your help.
    Stu

Use the serach feature at the bottom of iPhoto and enter "movie".  All  movie files imported into iPhoto are automatically given a keyword, movie.
Or you can create a smart album with the following criteria:  Keyword is movie.  Select all the movie files and use the key combination Option+Command+Delete to move the files to the iPhoto Trash Bion.  Then empty the iPhoto trash bin and the Trash bin in the Dock..

  • Can't find my edited photo in iphoto

I changed my editing in iphoto to automatically use adobe photoshop elements. I then edited a picture and saved it as a new picture but I can't find it in iphoto. I can find it in my finder and it says it is in a modified folder - can you access this folder in iphoto?

Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds

  • How can i find a deleted photo book?

I deleted a photo book by mistake. Is there anyway i can get it back?

Sure by loading your backup from just before you made the mistake. That is why you have backups. Computers, software and humans fail and a backup is the only protection against these failures

  • I can't find a single photo from iPhoto?

Firstly I am not technically minded at all.
But I do back up my Mac from time to time for the obvious reasons....
But when i entre time machine I cannot browse my photos from my iPhoto libary and therefore cannot restore single lost photos?
    What am I doing wrong?
    Regards
    Tom

For the past few years, unfortunately, it is not possible to restore individual images in iPhoto 11, known as version 9.x. Instead, you must restore the entire iPhoto library and then pick the image(s) that you need.....a real hassle.
Check this excellent information provided by Time Machine wizard Pondini for tips and workarounds:

  • How can I edit and delete photos from my albums? I can't find a way to delete old photos...

Can anyone help me delete photos? There are old blurry and duplicate photos that we are unable to delete...

If photos were synced from your computer then they can't be deleted directly on the iPad, you will need to remove/de-select them from where you synced it from on your computer and re-sync.

  • HT201317 I just changed my I phone I  got all my photos from 2012 but I can't find my latest photo that I had in my old phone could some one give me an advise ?

    Hi
I changed my I phone 4 . For some how I can't find my latest photos from my iCloud the only pictures I that I got is from 2012
Could some one give me an advise where to find them from as they were saved in stream photo

Photo stream only saves you photos from the last 30 days.  Older photos are deleted from photo stream even though they will remain on your device.  However, if you connect a new device to your photo stream, then will only receive the photos from the last 30 days as they others have been removed.
If you still have your old phone and the photos are in the camera roll, import them to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083), then sync them to your new phone.
