I can't get a simple "do shell script" in AppleScript to work!

Hi All,
I can get simple commands like "do shell script "ls"" or "do shell script "ps"" to work in AppleScript, but I cannot get something like "do shell script "python -V"" to work. (yes, my shell script says: do shell script "python -V" (no double quotes!))
This is driving me nuts!
Can anyone help?

python -V appears to direct its output to stderr. Try
do shell script "python -V 2>&1"

If the basics (restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new) don't work, you'll need to bring the phone to Apple for evaluation

How can I get 300 dpi tifs out of webex stills & then worked on in adobe illustrator?
I have been trying to convert images created in webex and transferred to illustrator into 300 dpi tifs. They download as ucf's when generated on white board. Or I have to upload files from other webex participants coming in at 72 dpi, converting them to something bigger in photoshop to paint in before taking them back into the webex session as a doc that then gets worked on further during the session. Later they go into illustrator for some more work with vectors. That's fine for the web but now a publisher wants them as 300 dpi tifs and I can only get things back & forth as 72 dpi pdf's. If I try to bump them up with a resample, they come out teensy weensy. What am I missing and is there any way to make them look good?

What I need is to be able to transfer the images between formats without degradation of the resolution and find ways to sharpen what I have even if I can't increase pixels. If the original I'm delivered is a 96 dpi power point slide, for example, that's what I have to work with, I'm using Illustrator to compensate with vectors. But then I still need to get it back to a 300 dpi tiff to meet the specs.

No problem! If you're worried about more complicated edits (which in all honesty, should work no matter how many clips you select or how many effects are attached to them), you can always compound a clip first, and then copy it over after if you're afraid of lots of track clutter getting in the way. Not sure if they would break apart afterwards though if you wanted them to.

Try to follow below steps
Click on Finder and then hold Command + Shift + G keys on your keypad
It will open Go to folder window, type exactly ~/Library and click on Go
Then open Application Support > Adobe folders
Trash AAMUpdater and OOBE folders.
Now click on finder and hold Command + Shift + G keys on your keypad.
This time type /Library and click on Go.
Make sure to remove ~ symbol.
Then open Application Support > Adobe folders.
Trash AAMUpdater, Adobe Application manager, OOBE folders.
Now Click on Finder and then hold Command + Shift + U keys on your keypad.
It will open utilities folder.
Trash Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Application Manager folders

You cannot use a SIM card on a carrier locaked phone, other than a sim from the carrier the phone is locked to. You must first get the carrier it is locked to, to unlock your phone. Apple does not unlock phones.

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via control centre : swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and it's the right-most of the 5 icons in the middle of it (if the icon is white then it's 'on', tap it to turn it grey and 'off'). I can't get my Elements 12 on my third computer to work?

Why can't I get my Elements 12 on my third computer to work with any of my three sns?

I have Elements 12 (and several previous Element additions) for two laptop machines, which I ordered and received via a disk, etc. One Serial Number applied to both machines. And they work fine.
Then I downloaded an a digital copy of Elements 12 for form my PC near my printer.
Now every time I attempt to work a photo on that machine, it tells me that I'm using the wrong SN and asks me to put in the correct one. I checked my Adobe Account and found three serial numbers, and I have tried them all, and they are rejected.
Sometimes I persist and get to a prompt that asks if I want quit. If I I click "yes." I am able to continue processing that image.
As much as I like Elements 12, that is both irritating and time wasting.
What can I do?

How to do multiple shell scripts in AppleScript

I got some solutions from previous posts on how to run sudo in Applescript, but there is still some minor syntax issues when I try to get to the destination directory. Usually in shell script I just type
cd directory-destination
in several lines to batch process those commands, but when I work with applescript, if I do do shell script for every "cd" command, instead of getting an overall result, I would get intermediate results individually.
I read doc and learned that there might be a way to put commands together by using the & sign?

An individual do shell script command runs in its own shell, so to perform multiple commands within that shell you need to combine them into a single statement. You can use the ampersand '&' operator to concatenate text strings, and the semicolon ';' to separate the commands, for example:set theFolder to "/Applications"

Upgrade to X1 - Can't Get a Simple Answer

I got an offer for a "free" (actually a self-install) for X-1. I have a 10+ year old DVR and a HD DTA, so I went ahead and ordered it. Its arriving today and I can't get remotely consistent answers to the following questions: Do I need to change my current TV plan? I've got 12 months left on a promotion and don't want to lose that pricing.The X1 DVR replaces the existing DVR, but what happens with the HD DTA on the second set?Is cloud DVR available in the central NJ market? If so, what is the addtional cost?This has been nothing but frustration. I'm at the point where I'm probably just dropping of the X1 equipement at the Comcast office and forgetting the whole "upgrade" thing. I've been considering cutting cable TV at the end of the promotion, and this is making it a pretty easy decision.

I feel your pain! Although you were miles smarter than we were. We stuck it out for weeks which dragged into months! After 4 or 5 (or more; it's been 2 yrs, I believe, and we've tried to forget the entire debacle with little success) installers, re-installers, uninstallers, and do-nothing-know-nothing non-installers, literally countless hours on hold, endless transfers, escalations, disconnections, rude hang ups, phone system hang ups, human error hang ups, department inefficiency hang ups, subordinate stupidity, managerial stupidity, untrained and uncaring and often rude and defensive Cust.Svc.Reps, outright fact fabrication (i.e., lies), etc., reaching it's zenith with an unwavering determination to fit our situation into a preset, confining coffin-like box simply to accommodate their computer's ability to "handle" our account. The right hand not even aware that a left hand existed and F'n up our system, signal, billing, and anything else they could contrive to keep us from the simplest, most logical, already in place, and least costly in additional repair manhours and further ineffective, time consuming, and spirit crushing phone frustration. But......NO!!! Comcast employees, including managers, supervisors, escalated tier supervisors, et.al, are incapable of thinking outside the box or taking the initiative to follow through to find a solution. I worked in the original company when cable came to Portland. I remember trying our utmost to find workable solutions for each unusual situation, often walking the paperwork/issue from dept.head to dept.head looking for answers. Unfortunately, few, if any, at Comcast seem capable of even grasping the problem, let alone the initiative to find a solution. Congrats on being much quicker to come to this realization than we were! Can't get conky-cli and bash scripts to both display in dwm statusbar!

I'm trying to configure my dwm status bar to display some simple information using conky-cli and bash scripts. At first I tried just letting conky run the bash scripts (for network and volume state), but this increased my cpu usage by about 5%, which is significant considering I normally have 1-3% usage when idle. Also, I wanted to keep conky because it makes the display of certain information easy, such as cpu & RAM usage.
The problem is I'm having trouble getting both to display side by side. Here are the relevant parts of my .xinitrc:

For some reason when I run this I only get the network/volume scripts and date running, updating every second (I think). The conky line just doesn't show up. I don't know what could be wrong, since I didn't see any error messages.
An even better solution would be to just have shell scripts to display CPU and MEM usage. I have a dual-core cpu, cpu0 and cpu1. I'd like to see both percentages if possible, or at least a percentage that is an accurate average of the two or something. In conky-cli I have something that shows:
cpu0/1: xx% xx%
Also, seeing RAM usage would help a lot. In conky it shows:
mem: xx% (xxxMB)
These are the ways I would like to have bash scripts show them, if possible, but I have zero skill in bash programming. I made this an option in case it's easier/cleaner/less resource hungry than a conky solution. Personally, if they're about the same in these aspects, I would prefer something with conky and the shell scripts because conky is so extensible, yet it's only flaw is executing scripts with minimal resource usage.

Thanks. I was thinking of using load average to save a few characters, but I didn't quite understand the numbers. I'll try that once I get to my Linux box, but could you please explain or post a link to something that explains load average (what's low, high, normal, etc.)?
EDIT: I found a website that explains loadavg. I now have my dwm status bar displaying it perfectly (yay!). Now I just need to add a few more things like battery status, etc. and I might be done. I'll probably post here if I have more questions, though.
