I can't get my VPN working - Any ideas?

I'm trying to set up a VPN into my work computer. My work computer is running Windows, and I can VPN in using a Windows desktop here, so I know the details are right.
I've set up a PPTP VPN with my work IP address, username and password. It connects, and the internet seems to work over the VPN. I've got Remote Desktop Connection with the Microsoft Office Suite, and I use the IP address of my work computer to connect through that, but it fails. I also can't ping my work computer from my Mac. I've tried CORD, but that also fails. The error message is the standard; "Cannot connect to the windows computer, it may be switched off or unavailable" message.
Am I missing something obvious?
I've got a Macbook Pro. It's running Lion 10.7.5, and RDC is up-to-date.

Have you turned the phone off? If so, and it hasn't fixed the issue, try a reset:
Press and hold the Sleep/On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for approximately 10-15 seconds. Ignore the slide to turn off indicator, and wait for the Apple logo to reappear. Release buttons. No content will he changed with this process.

If you close all the windows and quit word, next time you restart, DO NOT check "Reopen windows on login".
Also, check your login items for your user account.

When you say you can't load does that mean Captivate does not launch?
Try launching the application as 'Administrator' and check.
You might also want to check by launching it in 'compatibility mode' and see.
In case you still face issues, try resetting Captivate preferences and then check by launching the application.
To reset the preferences, please follow the steps below :
Close Adobe Captivate.
Locate the preference folder:
Windows Vista and Windows 7: C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 7 folder
Rename the Captivate folder.
Restart Adobe Captivate. A new folder is automatically created.

1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
3. Check the USB cable
4 Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job
7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

AppleTC and photo sync; can't get it to work any longer

My AppleTc was synchronising the pictures perfectly (file structure in explorer), but since I had to restart the AppleTv with 2.4 it no longer does this. Every time I try to snychronise, itunes actually doesn't synchronise at all. If I de-select the photos, it works again. Frustrating! It can synchronise the pics stored via PS Elements.
Does anybody have any idea how I can get my AppleTV to synchronise normal photos files? Don't like working with PSE for this.

Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and Restore...

Try Resetting the SMC.

But if the keyboard has failed you won't be able to do that. In that case you need to take the system to Apple to be diagnosed as to what the problem really is and get an estimate on the cost of repairs if you are out of Warranty.

Bought a new 27" mac and did a data migration from the old mac. The creative cloud app will not install as it says its damaged, and prompts to download it. Every time i try to install it crashes and says cc is needed for this problem, and i go round in circles....Any ideas please?

I have been using my macbook pro as a home media server, hosting most content on the macbook with ipod touch, ipads, and appletv streaming/sharing content. I have run out of space on both the macbook pro and the apple tv and am looking to moving the content to a home media server. Any thoughts/suggestions? I'd like something that I can access remotely too. I have an old slingbox and also have a static IP address.

Don't worry I've sorted it! I just had to turn off Reminders as well in iCloud. Calendar then worked fine, even when I turned Calendar and Reminders back on.
