I can't get rid of somoto toolbar search and default homepage. Somoto doesnt appear in the list of searching and also not as installed software in my computer.

I can't get rid of Somoto, it doesnt appear in my search engine list and also not in my list of installed add ons or software, but its there, it is also my default homepage if i open a new tab. any idea?

Since applications from the app store are linked to the Apple ID - in this case your old email - used to purchase or obtain them, you will need to have the password to that Apple ID in order to update those apps. How can i get rid of In-Box:don't want it - won't use it - don't like it and most unprofessional to take-over a past wonderful site.

got home from out of town and when computer went on up comes this In-Box thing. I did not order it, Don't Want it and WILL NOT USE IT and it has a lousy "google finder" in other words IT STINKS. I want to get rid of it and have Firefox open with Google
on the page in the center which is the only way I want it.

Settings app has red number 1 at the top and I can't get rid off it. I have been through everything in settings eg. Turned everything off and it is still there

Since I updated to ios5.0.1 I have had a red number one on the settings app like there is something that needs to be done. I have tried to turn everything off in settings and gone through everything one by one but cannot get rid of it.

Handle = Screen Name.
Name = Your Details as per your My Card (Head and Shoulders iCon) in the Address Book - Or the User that is Logged in to the Mac.
Each Buddy List will show the same Name but a different Handle based on the Screen Name for that Buddy List.
If you only have one Buddy List (other than the Bonjour One) and you Delete it then the Buddy List Disappears - Problem Solved. (Presumably you are re-adding a New Screen Name ?)

I am a little confused where you were when you did this:-
I tried clicking on the minus sign in the list of users to delete the account and tried signing up for a new iChat account using my AIM screen name/password;
"List of Users" sounds like you were in System Preferences > Accounts.
You can "Delete" an Account here. It is not actually removed from the Users Folder (Hard Drive/Users) but is locked in a way that no-one has access and they are Removed from the Login Screen when the Mac Starts Up.
DO NOT DELETE ANY CLOSED ACCOUNT FOLDER In the Users Folder.
But if you use the same Screen Name in another Mac User Account the same Handle will appear.
You will see my GoogleTalk Account is headed "GoogleTalk" and my AIM Account as "Main AIM Account" These are set in the Description field in the iChat > Preferences > Accounts.
The Default if you have one account that logs into AIM is for it to read "AIM Buddy List"
Similar for one Jabber Account.
With more accounts of any one type they take on the info in the Description Field - which itself by default is the Screen Name.
Are you trying to create a New Mac User Account and use the same AIM Screen Name there ?
Are you trying to just change AIM Screen Names ?

The problem is that when another user logs on to another computer the message comes up that their is already an instance of firefox running on that computer even though there really isn't. Only one instance can be run on the network at one time. I believe it is because firefox stores a shared profile as it thinks it is actually the same user even though it is being run on another computer. I repeat that each user that logs on uses the same user name and password but on different computers.

How do i get rid of voiceover on my ipod nano? i am stuck on the 'playing album' screen and cant even change the playlist.

I accidentally got my ipod stuck on voiceover and i can't get it off. The usual 'slide to left to go back' no longer applies and i am stuck on a dreadful playlist! in my instruction book it says 'flick to slide screen', what is this supposed to mean? Connect to iTunes. On summary screen for ipod, hit the "Configure Universal Access" button. Make sure none of the checkboxes are checked in the dialog box that comes up. Click apply, then sync and voiceover should be off.

Can't get rid of NCH toolbar - went to add-ons, but nothing to uninstall NCH bar

NCH toolbar installed covertly with some NCH software. I subsequently deleted software, but toolbar remained and is not visible in my install/uninstall. Re-installed FireFox, but NCH toolbar remained. I want it GONE! Followed FireFox troubleshooting instructions about going into add-ons in toolbar, but no sign of any place to uninstall NCH toolbar. Over 300 people have had this problem, according to your records.

I deleted a contact in my phone book but I noticed that when I go to send someone a text that person is still there and I sooo do not want to see that anymore...how do you delete that??

The device remembers recently used items. If you deleted the contact and don't use it again the device will eventually forget that contact. Patience is the key here.

ClamXav detecting phishing email (can't get rid of them)

I received an email from my wife that she did not send me. It was an email that made no sense. It just had a bunch of words in a very long document. I assumed that her email program (Mac Mail) must have become infected with something that sent this email out to everyone in her address book. I deleted the email and downloaded ClamXav to check my system and make sure everything is ok.
Whenever I run ClamXav, it detects 8 files with the following infection name: (Heuristics.Phishing.Email.SpoofedDomain)
I ask ClamXav to quarantine the files, then I go into that folder and delete them. But if I run a check later, those 8 files are back. I can't get rid of them.
I'm wondering if they are reinfecting my Mac Mail program via Apple's mail servers. I'm not sure if all my mail messages are kept on Apple's server, and them somehow these malware files get re-downloaded to my computer. I tried to figure out if there is a setting in my mail program that allows me to uncheck a box that says, "save mail files on server".....but I can't find any such setting. I thought I remember seeing something like that in the past.
Does anyone have any idea what is causing my computer to be continuously reinfected and what I should do about it? I don't notice any problems with my computer, but obviously these files that I can't permanently delete has me worried.

First, I would encourage you to come to the ClamXav Forum to more quickly and efficiently answer questions such as this.
My standard guidance for handling reported e-mail infection is as follows (pay particular attention to #6):
Never use ClamXav (or any other A-V software) to move (quarantine) or delete e-mail. It will corrupt the mailbox index which could cause loss of other e-mail and other issues with functions such as searching. It may also leave the original e-mail on your ISP's e-mail server and will be re-downloaded to your hard drive the next time you check for new mail.
So, if you choose to "Scan e-mail content for malware and phishing" in the General Preferences, make sure you do not elect to either Quarantine or Delete infected files.
When possibly infected e-mail files are found:
Right-click/Control-click on either the infection or file name in the ClamXav window.
Select "Reveal In Finder" from the pop-up menu.
When the window opens, double-click on the file to open the message in your e-mail client application.
Read the message and if you agree that it is junk/spam/phishing then use the e-mail client's delete button to delete it (this is especially important when the word "Heuristics" appears in the infection name).
If you disagree and choose to retain the message, return to ClamXav and choose "Exclude From Future Scans" from the pop-up menu.
If this is a g-mail account and those messages continue to show up after you have deleted them in the above manner, you may need to log in to webmail using your browser, go to the "All Mail" folder, find the message(s) and use the delete button there to permanently delete them from the server.
To fix corrupted mailbox index(es), highlight each one that was corrupted and choose Rebuild from the appropriate menu.

Ok....so I have found a work around....if not a complete solution.
I'm not sure if deleting your music, uninstalling ITunes and reinstalling and adding your music back will actually affect it but I tried it again. Started from scratch.
I checked the box for "Manually manage music and videos"
Then I moved my music to phone via drag and drop, usually just boxing a row of albums at a time.
I went back into my Iphone and began the sync. The message popped up, "1 Item could not be synced" and the sync stopped. At that point, I just clicked sync again and it started back up again. It took a few go's but eventually I got all my music on my phone.
Ironically enough, the only songs that wouldn't sync were songs that I had actually purchased from Itunes....kinda odd
