I can't get the adobe flash player to install - says can't register active x control

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the flash player a number of times with the same result.
Firefox version 6.0.2
Windows XP

Note that FlashPlayer works with both Internet Explorer and other browsers such as Firefox, the plugins required though are different. If you use '''I'''nternet '''E'''xplorer and Firefox you have to install both types of plugin, you possibly have so far only installed the type used by IE.

You should be using Firefox 7.0.1, Firefox 6 is no longer supported or secure.

  • Safari 5.1.7 for Windows, Can I get the Adobe Flash Player Update???

I just downloaded Safari 5.1.7 for Windows 7 and when I went to the YouTube page, it says that there is a missing plug-in and when I try to find a video, it shows this:
When I try to update the flash player, it only update my IE 9 and Google Chrome. I also have the lastest version of QuickTime and still doesn't work.

Thanks for the suggestion - removing my adblock and reinstalling the
flashplayer solved the problem, working fine now with new adblock which
will go bye-bye before I do the next update (not a fan of resorting to
    swearing at my screen!)

how do i get the adobe flash player so i can watch youtube videos?

Software is always safest directly from the developer or the App Store.
There are numerous untrustworthy 'update' sites like Cnet & Softonic, & many users won't know that one is to be trusted (so far) but not most of the others.
Adobe make Flash Player : get it from Adobe.

  • I can't get my Adobe flash player 11.1.0 or greater on my PC

I can't get my Adobe flash player 11.1.0 or greater on my PC

On this topic : sound is garbled and sped up on Ustream videos in Chrome, IE, and Firefox. I tried to uninstall Version 17 and install the Beta but that didn't work. The uninstall left me with no flash for Firefox. I tried to download and install the recommended version that didn't work either.
Some people are saying they can eliminate the garble by reducing the resolution to 460? I don't know where and how to do this. There doesn't seem to be any way to manage the Flash Player resolution size window.
However, earlier I was able to view a clear stream with Ustream on a different computer-so I am afraid all this fussing has introduced a corruption onto my computer.
Any help would be appreciated: i.e how to remove any errors I introduced and start over clean.
    Thanks

  • How do I get the Adobe Flash Player 10 to Work (Windows XP SP3)?

I am a Premiere Elements user who occasionally exports the Timeline to Adobe Flash Video (.flv). And, occasionally I convert the .flv export to .swf with a free .flv to .swf converter. An installed Macromedia Flash Player 8.0 successfully plays back the .swf, and an installed Adobe Media Player 1.7 successfully plays back the .flv.
Right or wrong I got the idea that the Macromedia Flash Player 8.0 was really a very old version of what is now the Adobe Flash Player. So, I decided it was time to update the Macromedia Flash Player 8.0 to Adobe Flash Player 10. At this point, I have the following installed on my Windows XP SP3 computer via Adobe downloads:
Adobe Flash player 10 Active X
    Adobe Flash player 10
    Adobe Shockwave Player 11.5
The Adobe web site verification tells me that as well as the computer Control Panel Add/Remove program list.
But, no matter what I do, .flv insists on opening only with the Adobe Media Player 1.7 and the .swf only with the Macromedia Flash Player 8.0.
    I have tried
    a. browsing to another Open With choice
    b. changing file association in folder options as well as a few uninstalls/reinstalls and have been unsuccessful in these attempts. At one point I thought that maybe uninstalling the Macromedia Flash Player 8.0 would be an approach, but I cannot find it to uninstall it. I have looked in Program Files, Documents and Settings/Application Data, Local Drive/Windows/System32, tried the computer Search...all with no luck. My browsers are Internet Explorer 6 and Firefox 2.0.0.20. The default browser is Firefox and all the appropriate "allows" are in place.
If anyone could point out the errors of my ways, I would appreciate it.

I have resolved the issues presented without having to find and uninstall the Macromedia Flash Player 8.0 in order to get "Adobe Flash Player 10" playback of .swf files on my computer. When I begin this task, I expected to download an "Adobe Flash Player 10" as a player program download instead of the Internet Explorer and Firefox plugin that it appears to be.
This is what I did and what I believe I have:
    1. I setup Internet Explorer 6 as my default browser and then used the following site to download Adobe Flash Player 10
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
    2. As I had done before (and also suggested in another thread here), I went to Tools/Manage Add Ons and found Shockwave Flash Object, highlighted it, and clicked on Update Active X. Next, what I did not do before, I restarted the computer immediately after that.
    3. Next, I set Mozilla Firefox as my default browser and then used the above site to download Adobe Flash Player 10 again.
    4. With Firefox, the critical step included Firefox Tools/Options/Content with File Types (Configure how Firefox handles certain types of files) and the Manage Tab there. SWF Shockware Flash Object/Change Action/and dotting "use this plugin" - Shockwave Flash, followed by a computer restart got the job done.
Now, if I want playback of a .swf file, I can
    a. Open With Internet Explorer (assumed with the Adobe Flash 10 "plugin")
    b. Open With Mozilla Firefox (assumed with the Adobe Flash 10 "plugin")
    c. Open With Macromedia Flash Player 8.0
I am satisfied with those results for my use. Any additional comments on the player vs plugin aspect of the matter would be interesting and helpful.

  • In Firefox, I can NEVER do the Adobe Flash Player 11 Update

    Question
In Firefox, every time the Adobe Flash Player Update box shows up, I click on it, it scrolls right as it downloads, then I am asked to read the license, which take me to a page of a thousand license agreements. I choose the Flash Player 11 license, it opens in Arabic, and even if I was able to read the license agreement there is NOWHERE on the read license agreement page to then start the update. How can I possibly achieve the update when Adobe does not follow standard practices and make it as easy as all other companies. Is the update just a scam to get me to pay Adobe the $29 to $39 fee so that they can tell me how to do the update that they on purpose made it impossible to do without paying them a fee to tell me how? I have not been able to do the update for over 3 years since I bought my new Apple iMac. Do I really need the update? Obviously I have done without it for 3 years!

  • How can I get 11.7 flash player to install on my windows 7, 64 bit, fox fire system?

I have uninstallled and deleted files as I read in the FAQ section and flash player still won't work.  The games says that flash player must be installed.  I have a blank box when I check in the "do you have flash player?" adobe page.

Just wanted to pop in and say, good job galhe! There is a wealth of information in this forum. One of the easiest ways is to use the search forums. Nice to see. By the way, that is the first thing to check, if it is not there, FP will not work, then it
is back to square one. Don't forget Java, youtube and other sites want the latest Java( which is JRE 6 update 18 as of yesterday) just like they ask for the latest Flash Player version. Just a FYI.

  • I cannot for the life of me, get the Adobe Flash Player installed!

This is ludicrious. Please fix your product so it will install flawlessly. I have tried all the help suggestions with no results.
    Who can help!
What about a chat from Adobe to help install their product?
Using Windows 7 home and Internet Explorer 10.

That's true , sorry that was not professional, but I was frustrated.
I was trying to watch a video and need your update.
I did the procedure, and then it failed, and stated I should close the I.E.
    and retry. Nothing happened.
Read the help, checked the Internet Options, but they were already adjusted
properly. Checked the safety options_ retryed
No luck. Retarted the computer, no luck.
Ran the uninstaller, and retried no luck.
What frustrated me where 2 things: this is not the DOS age where one had to
muck around in the registry to make things work and I could not find a Chat
help link to solve the problem. Why should I be going through all thaw
hoops? Just make your product work!
So I looked on the web  for the Adobe products for SALE. There I chatted
with a sales rep who said I should shut the I.E. and install through Google
Chrome. I mentioned I would loose the chat and what's the chat address if I
    still needed help?
He sent me a chat link which I saved, memorized and had tatooed to my
    forehead!
I pulled up the install link via Google Chrome and it ran flawlessly all by
    itself the first time!
I think it would be noble of Adobe to offer a chat help link if nothing
    else works.
    Thanks.

  • How can i get the Adobe digital editions to install on windows phone 8.1

    or is there a

The message you are getting is saying that the iPod was previous synced to another computer. You can only sync with one computer. If you sync to another computer then the iPod media from the iPod get erased (as the message says) and is replaced with what is in the iTunes library of the second computer.
Syncing means copying (syncing) media from your iTunes library to your computer)
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod
    For not showing in iTunes:
    - Try entering the screen lock passcode on your iPod if not done already
    - Go to Windows Device Manager and see if there is any problems/unknown devices
    - Can you not import photos from a digital camera? The iPod appears in My Computer like a camera does.

  • Installing the adobe flash player

I have not installed the adobe flash player because it says I might have to disable my virus safety net during the download process.  I do not want to put my computer at risk for a virus at any time.  How can I access the flash player without having to disable my virus safety net?

Depending what antivirus software you use, you may not need to do that.  Some very aggressive AV may prevent Flash Player from being installed; most however do not.
Tell us more about your OS and AV, and someone will tell you what to do.

If you already have an older version of Flash Player, open the Preference pane and select Check Now... under the Update portion under the General tab:
You shouldn't have to install a new version from the website (I'm not even sure if you can) if you've already installed Flash Player.
