I can't send out mail. the prompt is telling me that I am not connected to a server. What do I do?

How do I connect to a server to enable me to send mail

Well you can start by adding detail - any detail that might help.
What mail application are you using? Mail.app? something else? What else?
Your signature says you use hotmail - is this hotmail you're trying to configure? or something else?
Is the problem with this specific email account? or all (do you have more than 1?)
Without these (and likely more) answers there's not enough to go on here.

You have omitted all useful information from your post,
Things like, what mail system, there are many, which Mac, many of them as well
Time to describe what you have and what error messages you receive, can't do anything with your question otherwise.

  • Icloud SMTP server is offline, can't send out mail

I am having a problem, can't send out mail with my iCloud account. Password is ok, but it says "offline"  On Mavericks OS

You might want to try signing out of your iCloud account, then back in.  Go to System Preferences>iCloud, click Sign Out, choose Delete at all of the prompts, restart your Mac, then sign back in.
This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your Mac, but not from iCloud.  It will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in, after a brief delay as it redownloads.

  • How do you get iphoto to recognize that a computer really is connected to the internet?  I cannot use places to locate my photos, because the software keeps telling me my computer is not connected.  I know the computer is connected.

How do I get iphoto to recognize that a computer really is connected to the internet?  I cannot use places to locate my photos, because the software keeps telling me my computer is not connected.  I know the computer is connected.

Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. It the problem persists  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
If the new library does'nt have that problem then your original library is damaged. Post back if that's the case and we'll go from there.

  • Safari is telling me that I'm not connected to the internet?

I'm using my Verizon Droid Incredible as a wifi hotspot for my iPad 2. I'm getting frequent messages that safari is not connected to the Internet while the icon shows that i have a strong signal. What's the **** problem? This is driving me nuts, as I need this to work while on the job.

Ok, let's double-check your MacBook Pro's AirPort settings...
System Preferences > Network > Show > Network Port Configurations
    - Verify that an AirPort option exists. If it does not, click "New" to create one. - Verify that AirPort is "On" (checked)
    - Verify that AirPort is at the top of the list. If it isn't, you can drag it to the top.
Systems Preferences > Network > Show > AirPort
    AirPort tab
    - By default, join: Automatic
    TCP/IP tab
    - Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
    - Configure IPv6: Automatically or Off
    Proxies tab
    - Configure Proxies: Manually
    - Select a proxy server to configure: <All proxies should be unchecked unless you specifically require a proxy for Internet access.>
    - Exclude simple hostnames (unchecked)
    - Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains: <leave blank>
    - Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV) (checked)

  • How can I send out mail to multiple addressees?

I want to send out a a mass mailing where I can begin my mail by personalisng it to  'Dear John, Jane...... or whoever.  How can I do this with using Mail?

I Googled - I don't use Apple's Mail - and it seems that you need third-party software: this was one of the top hits - http://www.macmassmailer.com/mac-mail-group-email-list.

  • Can't send out mail on my POP

I am having a similar problem, but not with a .MAC account. We recently had to reinstall our operating sys. and now cannot send email with our POP. Everything else works fine and we can send it through the verizon website, just not the mail link. Error message reads the server does not recognize our address. Checked with Verizon and all settings are correct. Any ideas? I even tried the port 587.

Sometimes an ISP provider blocks one of your incoming
Mail ports and "won't notify you". ( Why? probably it's their protection software )
In my case Comcast blocked my Port 25 and my Outgoing kept bouncing.
    Incoming was fine.
Make sure when you change your Port to 587,
You also check "ON" the Secure Sockets Layer box right underneath,
    Then change Authentication: to Password
Then enter your name and password
    and click OK.
The reps at most of the providers
are useless and won't tell you
the second part of the solution.
It took me 2 days and 4 reps
at Comcast to find this out
and 10 hours of trying to
    clean my Mac...
    which they will always
    blame.
    Best of Luck, Tom

  • Mail can't send out mail anymore....

    hey everyone,
I just downloaded the 5 new apps a few days ago, and everything worked great, until now.
I can receive emails, but i can't send any emails out.
When i touch send, a message pops up saying,
"Cannot send mail. The connection to the outgoing server "(null)" failed.
What does this mean? The messages I've tried to send out, just keep on filling up my outbox. What does this mean? Am i missing something?
Thanks in advance for your help

    Hey vanlan,
Make sure you are using the correct email settings. Check the email provider website or use common settings found here: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/mailhelper/
Try the tips in this article:

  • It took forever to get the Adobe Acrobat DC to download, it finally did and I am trying to convert a file from PDF to RTF and it is telling me that I am not connected to the Internet.  This is the MOST frustrating product I have ever tried to use!!  Why i

I don't want other people to answer this question,  I want a an Adobe support person to answer the question.
Why can't we get support??  We paid for a product that is not able to be supported????

    Hi Michelle ,
We are extremely sorry that you have had a bad experience with Adobe .
As far as your issue is concerned ,Acrobat generally prompts for internet connection as it is required to activate the product before you could use it comfortably .Once the product is activated or licensed you would be able to use the software offline .
This could be the possible reason you are experiencing this .Please check if you have done so and still facing this .And if you have not ,you need to license/activate your product by typing in your credentials ,i.e Adobe ID and password .
You could also refer the following link to get updated about the activation of your product .

  • Is anyone else having problems updating iOS 6.1.3? It keeps telling me that I am not connected to the Internet. But, I am. Frustrating.

    I cannot update 6.1.3

Restart or reboot your iPad and then see if you can update.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
