I can't set up sync

I have followed the instructions on this page https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-up-firefox-sync
I reach Part 3, step 4. The next step should be the appearance of a message saying "Device Connected". Instead, I get a page titled "Firefox Sync", inviting me to set up an account or use an existing one.
When I click on "I Have an Account", I am invited to enter a Recovery Key, but I do not have another device from which to take this key. When I click on "I have lost my other device", a key is generated, but the "Next>" button does not work.
What am I doing wrong? I have used this before without problem. Has the system changed?

A new version of Sync is coming in Firefox 29 which is currently in Beta testing. It looks like some of the images ''(the ones that say Beta)'' in that KB article are for the new Sync while other images are from the current version.
Let me recap what I read from your posting. 
* You already have a Sync account.
* You have only ever had one device connected to that Sync account and are unable to "pair" with another device connected to your Sync account.
* You didn't save the Recovery Key from the one device that you were using Sync with, and you want your data from the Sync server after doing a fresh installation or reformat on the same PC or have a new PC.
My conclusion is that you weren't using Sync correctly; you were trying to use Sync as a "cloud" service with only one device. That Recovery Key is the data encryption "key" for your data, and without that specific "key" your data can't be decrypted - its' worthless And if you requested a new "key", your data was wiped from the Sync server to ready your account to upload your data using the new "key".
Sorry if I made any incorrect assumptions, but you didn't make what you are doing clear enough.

Can't set up sync between Xubuntu laptop (FF 16.0.1) and Android phone (FF beta)

I'm trying to set up Sync between my Android phone (FF Beta) and my Xubuntu laptop (FF 16.0.1) with no luck.
I've been playing with it for a while, and these are the two main things I've done.
Reset password
put in code generated on android to linux pc, phone displays 'waiting on other device' for a long time.
I can't get ahold of my recovery key since the UI is a bit different than described, and I origionally set up the account on another device I don't know how long ago.
HELP???

Sync does not come up in my options in Windows 7 so I can't set up sync

I am using version 3.6.28 in Windows 7. I go to Tools/Options and sync is not one of the options. Everything else shown in the tutorial comes up, but sync does not. Any suggestions of how to set up sync on my computer?

Can't set up Sync, get "Incorrect account name or password"

I am trying to set up Sync for the first time. After putting in an e-mail address and password, entering the "captcha" words, I click "next," and instead of successfully completing the setup, I get a message at the bottom "Sync encountered an error while syncing: Incorrect account name or password. Sync will automatically retry this action." How could these be incorrect when I just created the account?
I have tried changing the password, deleting the account and restarting the whole process, but it always comes back to the same problem.

This has to be a system wide issue. I have tried from multiple machines (Mac OS X, Win7 3 different), multiple internet connections. I have tried 4 different email addresses as well.
I am moving away from chrome now that i found FF has a sync feature (if it works) I give up for now...

I accidentaly entered the wrong birth year and now can't set up sync, what can I do to correct this?

Did you try to close and restart Firefox?
If that doesn't help then try to reset the services.sync prefs that show user set (bold) on the about:config page via the right-click context menu to the default value.

Bold 9780, can't set up sync with outlook

I have a bold 9780 and version 6 of the desktop software, when I plug the phone in the software recognises it, displays name and PIN etc but when I try and set up the sync settings it tells me I must connect my device to configure organiser settings.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software but that hasn't worked.

I can't set up sync because I cannot read thé words to conform that I am not a robot

I have this problem also on another site (N@tschool); there are some tiny pictures but I can't see what is on that place.
I suspect it has something to do with Java but I am a bit of a digibeet, so help me out please

Why can't I login to Firefox Accounts to set up Sync? FF30+ keeps telling me to Please enable cookies; cookies ARE enabled, already tried Safe Mode.

Why can't I log-in to Firefox Accounts to set up Sync from my laptop PC? FF30+ keeps telling me to Please enable cookies; cookies ARE enabled, and I already tried Safe Mode. This has been happening ever since the new Sync was implemented, so I'm guessing around FF 30. I am now up to FF version 34 and it still isn't working. I have not been able to sync since the "update."
Problem #1: Going to about:accounts and clicking on the blue Get Started button opens a blank screen. There isn't even a prompt about cookies. It's just blank. Screen shot attached.
This is before add-ons are disabled. If they're disabled in Safe Mode, we go to Problem #2.
Problem #2: I skimmed a thread (https://github.com/mozilla/fxa-content-server/issues/1017) and tried logging in to Sync through accounts.mozilla.com instead, but though the screen doesn't turn blank while add-ons are still enabled, the "Enable cookies" warning is as far as I can get. Going to about:accounts in Safe Mode has the same result. I have cleared all my cookies and my cache, restarted FF multiple times with and without add-ons enabled, and still nothing. I have browsed this support forum for similar questions, and while other people are having the same issue, none of the other threads have been resolved yet. Several FF versions later, this is way too long for this issue to still be unresolved.... Screen shot attached.
I know where Firefox's cookie manager is located, and I have toggled all the settings. I even allowed third-party cookies (though I really shouldn't since they're pointless). No difference. Screen shot attached.
I looked in about:config and searched for the word "cookie" in the names, but even doing that is pointless for me since I'm not a programmer and hence ignorant in what all these settings actually mean. Screen shot attached.
I'm at the end of my rope here, guys. It's been months. A year. Maybe more than a year; I don't even know anymore. I just got a new device and I don't want to add all my Firefox information to it one-by-one. There doesn't seem to be any way to contact Mozilla directly, so.... Someone help, please....

Thank you for replying. Unfortunately, I already did all of these things. As you can see from the below screenshot, the language is already set. Also, this screenshot was taken in Safe Mode, so NoScript is not enabled. About:accounts still says I need to enable cookies for some reason. So, this solution didn't work....

Sorry, I did not mean to imply that security was non-existant or horrible, just it is online, so no absolutes.
iCloud is really not useful, IMO, for collaborating as only you or your AppleID enabled devices can access the files.
I have multiple online storage accounts with the common free services, but my most used is www.box.net. Many document apps will readily support it, and even if one does not, you can use the box.net app itself to access files, then open them in the app usually. And you can share your online folders, with reasonable controls on access to keep control of who can see (and upload or download) what.
A lot of people I know use dropbox as well, but they are usually using paid accounts (often their company sets one up for them to use to exchange files with clients) and I don't know how much better is the security on a paid dropbox account versus a free one. I suspect the free ones are on a par with box.net.
You could also use add security by using some sort of PGP or other encryption tools to encrypt files put up on the shared folder(s). You'd exchange public keys with your colleagues so they could decrypt those files once they download them. That may be overkill for many peoples needs though.
Another option, if you have an online hosting account, is to get one that offers SFTP access and use that for sharing files (the downside of that is having to distribute the password to colleagues, so you could loose control of it if one of them is careless or thoughtless with it). It seems more and more document-type apps for iOS are supporting generic FTP and SFTP as well as the popular free online storage solutions.

I have set up sync and it has worked, but the key is impossibly long and I can't memorize it. I would have to write it down and then what, store it in my iphone case for use away from the computer? That's no good.

Can I change the sync key sequence to something I can remember I guess is my question.

No, Mozilla doesn't allow the user to create their own Sync Key any longer, it is a standardized 26 character string that us generated automatically. There is a shorter 15 character string that seems to be used for mobile devices and used when setting a different device once Sync is set up and the initial sync is completed, but I don't know how the two different strings relate to each other.
Once FirefoxHome is setup in the iPhone it should remember the login information and work seamlessly. You shouldn't have to remember your Sync Key and fill it out after the initial setup of the FirefoxHome app.

You can definitely have different sets of iPads with different apps loaded. When you "supervise" your iPads, you will see that on the left side of the Configurator window there is a "+" sign in the lower left corner. Click it to create a new device group. With this new device group you can choose what apps and configuration profiles you want to install on that group of iPads. Create as many groups as you want to customize the apps and profiles you want on them.

Can itunes be set to sync with your music library? Everytime i add music to my computer i have to go to itunes and add it. If i move music on my computer then itunes gets lost and i have to add it again and then go back and delete all the broken links in itunes. Is there a better way?

iTunes does not at present have any good feature for watching folders and automatically importing tracks you add to a folder. Using strictly iTunes, unless you drop the tracks into the "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder in the iTunes Music folder, you'll have to add any such tracks manually, by dragging them to the iTunes window or by using the Add To Library command. Here are a couple of potential solutions from other developers, though:

The same applies if you move a track from folder to folder manually; that will break iTunes' links to the track file and you'll have to re-add or relocate it in iTunes.

I can't find the set up sync button

I know this is stupid but I can't find the set up sync button. I want to transfer the bookmarks from my old PC and have read how to do it but when I click on the orange Firefox button top left of my screen the only option appears to be sync now. Any help will be gratefully received. Thanks Joe

If you see sync now then this means that Sync is already installed on that computer and working.

Did you create a new sync account or used the previously used email and password and sync key?
Note that sync isn't supposed to be used as a means of transferring data from one computer to another, so you need to be careful with not overwriting data stored on the Sync server.
Check the Sync options when you have used Sync before and want to keep previously stored data on the Sync server.
* click the "Sync Options" button at the bottom to select what to sync (Sync Options only affect the first sync)
Select this choice if you want to restore data from the Sync server:
* "Replace all data on this device with my Sync data"
You can also copy files to an USB stick to transfer them to another computer.
