I currently share an itunes account and apple ID with my mom and I want to create my own one now. How do I do this? Will I lose everything on my iphone?

I want to use my own email and credit card and manage my own account but I don't know how to do this and I'm hoping that I don't lose everything on my iphone right now.

Hi Rileycarline,
You can easily have an iCloud account that is separate from the Apple ID that is used for iTunes purchases. Take a look at the article below to walk you through that specific setup process of have an account for iCloud and one for Store purchases.

    A couple of different approached:
Create a second AppleID for one of you that includes the email address and phone number you wish to use for messaging, but do not apply it to the iTunes and app store (just keep the current one). My wife and I do this and it works quite well. Also allows for easier syncing of Contacts , notes etc. using icloud if you wish to do that.
Add additional emails/phone numbers to the existing account and change the Send/Receive settings for Messages. this will not fix the Contcts isues for you however.

She would need her own Apple ID, though not an iTunes Store account per se. This article will probably be of help:

  • Will I lose everything on my iphone if I restore it

Will I lose everything on my iphone if I restore it. photos, contacts, music

    It will erase everything.
If you have been using the iphone as designed, tehn everything will be on your computer, and you can sync it back.
You should be importing all pics taken with the iphone to your comptuer regularly as you would with any digital camera.
You should have been syncing your iphone contacts with your computer from day one.
All music should be on your computer in itunes.
Have you failed to do these things?

  • If I currently share an iTunes account with my family, is there a way I can have my own iCloud account that they can't access as well as keep all the music previously purchased?

I am going off to college soon and I need to create a separate iTunes and iCloud and the whole nine yards if possible. I currently share icloud and everything with my mom and my brothers phones. Is it possible to move over all of the music the I have previously purchased as well? Also the computer that has our iTunes account on it recently crashed. Is there a way to move the account to another computer?

  • I have an IPhone 5. There is 17.01 GB of other memory being taken up. I've been told my memory has been corrupted and I need to restore my phone to a new IPhone. If I do this, will I lose everything on my phone? I backed up my phone in iCloud yesterday.

I can't figure out what is taking up 17.01 GB of memory on my IPhone 5. I have read in these forums that I should restore my IPhone to its original settings, but I am afraid if I do that I will lose all my stuff. I did back my phone up in iCloud by plugging it into my laptop, but I still don't feel i know what Im doing is 100% correct. Can anyone guide me along? I would greatly appreciate the help.

Yes, when you restore as new everything will be wipe from your phone.
You will need to sync with itunes http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386  to get back your apps/music and contacts IF you sync with a program in itunes.
I suggest you import your pics to your computer http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083  then after you restore your phone, you can sync it back to your phone.

  • I recently changed my Apple ID primary email address and now I can't sign into Game Center. It recognizes my new Apple ID but it keep trying to force me to create a new Game Center nickname when I want to keep my old one. How do I fix this?

Just as the title says. How in the world do I fix this?

To migrate your data to a new iCloud account go to Settings>iCloud and turn off all synced data (contacts, calendars, etc.), when prompted choose to keep the data on your phone.  After everything is set to off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Next, create the new iCloud account on your phone and turn on syncing for contacts, calendars, etc again.  If prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload your data to the new iCloud account.

  • TS1702 I have installed a game program on both my I phone and I pod mini....I want to remove it on both items how to I do this????

How to removed a game program from both my Iphone and Ipad mini??

Tap and hold any app icon until they all wiggle.  Press the black x to delete the app.  Press the home button when done.
Note that when they are wiggling, you can drag then around to position as desired.

  • I had to reset my laptop and now iTunes doesn't recognise the computer so I can't synch my iPad. Any one know how I can get this changed?

My HP Compct laptop was dying a slow death so I had to reset it to its original factory settings. Now iTunes thinks it is a different computer, any idea how I can rectify it?

Yeah I have the original CDs. And I have backed up some stuff. But shouldn't things like safari and itunes be working anyway? The applications are there, they just won't open. Someone told me would lose my preferences and just had to update them again, but I can't do so cause safari doesn't work and internet explorer won't let me get on certain sites...

  • HT1918 My husband and I share an iTunes account but we would like to have separate accounts.  How do we set that up?

My husband and I currently share an iTunes account but we would like to have separate accounts. How do we do this?

you would have to create a new appleid for one of you in itunes or at appleid.apple.com since you cant split up an account
you can't move purchases from one to another but you can always keep that account for the store and just use the new one for icloud facetime etc

  • My husband and I dont want to share our itunes account anymore, how can we separate them, start a new one and not lose data, photos and music.

HI! My husband and I share an itunes account, we have different taste in music and are sick of each others crap (so to speak haha). I want to open a new itunes account for him, without him losing his data, music and photos. How do we do this?

Each device only syncs waht you select.
Select only what you want for each phone.

  • Share 2 itunes account 1 database

    Hi,
I'm looking for help on how to share 2 apple accounts.  Its hard to describe in 1 sentence so lets break it down.
Me - 3 kids - Share 1 itunes account (4 apple id) for apps and music - 4 computers (still windows ), 1 ipad, 1 iphone, 3 ipods
using a NAS to store all the music.
New Partner - 1 computer, 1 ipad, 1 iphone - has their own itunes account and 1 apple id.
This revolves around just music.  We had 100s of CDs that we have imported etc.  I have copied our songs, then imported them in to the itunes account.  LOL, I am still deleting all the duplicates because we had similar music tastes.  Thats a big task and it worked to duplicate our songs, playlists in each of our own library and on our own computer.
However, we continue to buy songs (which we typically both want) but as you can guess its only in one of accounts.
We don't use iCloud because we are managing our bandwidth usage to avoid streaming - its expensive so we still opt for computer hard drive storage, large ipad storage etc.
What would be ideal is that we could log on with 1 main computer, perhaps log in to 2 different itunes accounts and newly purchased songs are added to a common itunes folder and update libraries.
    Is this possible?

Not really, iTunes will only stay signed into one account. As long as you only use one account for purchases everything is straightforward. You can authorize the computers for multiple accounts, and for media that isn't much of an issue. App updates across multiple accounts is less easy. The new Family Sharing system may make everything easier, but I've not tried it out yet.

  • Want to sync iphone to my itunes account that I use with my ipod

I have recently purchased an iphone 4S and when i switched it on for the first time it came up with a set-up screen.  One of the options was to set it up as a new iphone (new apple ID and password) or to restore from an itunes back-up.  I would like to sync it to my itunes account that I use with my ipod but my laptop is being repaired.  Which option should I choose? - Can I set it up as new iphone (ie new apple ID) and then sync it to my itunes account later or do I need to wait and connect it to my laptop?  It wont let me do anything with the phone until I have finished the set-up..
    Thanks!

Do not set it up with a new Apple ID. You can set up as a new phone but with your old Apple ID. Purchases are specific to an Apple ID.

  • I put songs onto my IPhone 4, and they show up under the "On This Phone" section in itunes, but when I go to play the songs on my phone, they aren't there. How can I fix this?

I put songs onto my IPhone 4, and they show up under the "On This Phone" section in itunes, but when I go to play the songs on my phone, they aren't there. How can I fix this?

When you look at your iPhone, are you looking in the Music app or in the iTunes app?  Be sure you are looking in the Music app, and look in the Songs category.  If your songs are not here, you may want to try syncing your information again through iTunes.  To do this, uncheck "Sync Music" and then click apply or sync in the bottom right corner of iTunes, and then recheck "Sync Music" and then click apply or sync again.
    I hope this helps!
