I deleted my iCloud account, but now I can't use Find My iPhone. And I can't setup a new account because it writes that this account was assigned to iCloud already...
Hi guys. I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5... Its great, I wanted to test out the new iCloud so I enabled it on first iOS 5 setup.
So now I wanna delete it. So I did. Because my battery just wont work the way it used to on iOS 4.3.5. I guess it tries to connect to the internet so it could auto backup stuff. Well I dont need it. Mainly because I don't want to pay for extra space, and my free 5GB are almost done. Also I rather back it up on my PC.
I deleted my iCloud account but now I can't use FindMyiPhone! When I connect to the app it wont find my phone. When I enabled iCloud again it worked.
So I deleted it again and it stoped working again... I tried to setup a new account via MobileMe "Settings> email blah blah blah" and it didn't work because the account was already assigned to use iCloud only I guess...
What should I do?
Its solved I just restored it to that point

You can create and use different iCloud accounts on the same computer, whether they are single or multiple user.
There is a limit of 3 accounts you can create from a device but I thought this was only iOS devices - maybe not.
iCloud accounts can only be created using a valid email address, so I guess I'd start there to retrace what accounts you have.

iTunes purchases are permanently tied to the Apple ID (which is typically also the iCloud account) that they were acquired with.
The iCloud account is used on a daily basis by anyone with an iPhone.
iCloud accounts, which are Apple IDs, cannot be deleted. -

Ok! So there's no way around it then? My friend has an iPhone 4 that she got used and the 3 available account have been used up. I understand how that works but was wondering if there was a way around that so she could still use the find my iPhone app to locate the phone if needed. Thxs

I changed my Apple ID, now I can't login to iCloud because it still has my old Apple ID and the password no longer works to log me in. How can I get back into iCloud so that I can switch off Find my iPhone so I can make these changes? Thank you. (iPhone 4s)

Find My iPhone is good for misplaced iPhone but not good for thief and it was never meant to be.
You chance of getting it back is very small.
There are a few things you can try.
Try remote lock/wipe your iPhone through Find My iPhone.

I have an iPhone and iPad. I use find my iPhone for both. If I use the same icloud account for both, how do I separate them on the map, or if I lose one and want to remote wipe the lost one but not the one in my possession?

I just purchased an ipod for my daughter. Since she is only 7 y/o she cannot create an icloud account. Therefore, I had to use my apple ID to create an icloud account on her ipod. I would like to have find my iphone and friend finder on her ipod for tracking purposes. The only problem is that all of my personal calender, notes, reminders etc get transferred automatically to her ipod which I don't want.
I turned off the icloud calender, notes, reminders etc on her device so that my data doesn't get transferred to her device now. My biggest concern is that if she loses her ipod someone could turn the icloud function back on and automatically get my data.
Is there anyway to be able use the tracking features yet protect my icloud from being turned on by a thief?Password locks, Restrictions password protected or not anyone who gets your iPod can restore it to Factory Settings/New iPod. This will completely disable Find My iPhone so that the iPod can no longer be tracked. It is not a good idea to not use the lock password, because if someone get your iPod they can see all of your contacts, calendar entries email, email passwords, etc.

I am unable to restore my iphone, because it has become disabled. When I go to restore, it says to turn off "Find My iPhone" app. I can't, because it is disabled. I deleted the app and it still says the same thing. Any ideas?
The Find My iPhone app has nothing to do with this. Deleting the Find My iPhone app which is used to find another iOS device or Mac computer you own or for someone else to find their iPhone or iOS device with your iPhone does not turn off Find My iPhone with your iCloud account settings on your iPhone.

If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased. -

Number 2. Would I be able to use find my iPhone if I didn't activate the app before it was lost . Some one told me today they signed on and they were able to find their iPhoneIf the "Find My iPhone" was enabled in your iCloud Settings on your phone - it does not matter if you had the "App" on there or not. It will report, if it has not been deleted / restored / etc.
Have you tried logging into http://www.icloud.com and see if your device is listed? If it is, then place your phone into "Lost Mode" and put a phone number where you can be reached. -

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only unlock the device from the device itself. Locking the device does not stop it being tracked.
