I don't want my iPhone to delete emails on my computer

I went to iTunes, and unchecked the box "sync mailboxes." However, whenever I delete an email on my iPhone, it also deletes it on my computer (instantaneously, over the airwaves). I don't want this to happen. How do I TURN OFF this feature on my iPhone? I do not have MobileMe.

These suggestions do not work for me. I'm running iPhone OS 4.0.1. I can go to:
Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts (choose corresponding account to edit) -> Account Info -> Advanced -> Deleted Mailbox -> I check the box next to "Trash" the "On My iPhone" tab. I do not select anything in the "On the Server" tab.
I do not see a "Delete from Server" selection anywhere.
My server-side mail is being deleted when I delete the message on the iPhone. I wish for this to stop. I want the message to be retained on the server.

You can't remove the built-in root certificates, but you can remove their trust bits via the Edit button to prevent Firefox from using them as a trusted root certificate.
Intermediate certificates that Firefox has stored when visiting websites that show as "Software Security Device" should never has trust bits set.
Note that it is the responsibility of a server to send all required intermediate certificates to make it possible to build a certificate chain that ends with a built-in root certificate.

  • Iphone 4 deleting emails on server

Help! I had a Blackberry before I got the iPhone 4. There is a lot of difference and I have found solutions except one. When I delete an email on the iPhone, it deletes it from my computer. How can I keep this from happening? I do not want to end up with lots of emails on my iPhone...Thanks

If the messages are being deleted from the iPhone and the computer then you have set your mail account up as a IMAP account. Those accounts keep the devices in sync - an action on one will reflect on another one. (A delete on the iPhone will also delete on the computer.)
It sounds like you need to set up your mail as a POP account. That way actions on the phone will not reflect on the computer (Deleting from the iPhone will NOT delete from the computer.)
You'll need to inquire with your mail provide as to whether they support POP and what the necessary setttings may be.

  • Is there a way to have your email on the phone coordinate with the email on your computer?  When I delete emails on my computer they still show up as unread on my iphone.

Is there a way to coordinate email on your computer and on your iphone?  When I delete email on my computer it still shows up as unread on my phone.

It depends on the type of email account you are using, POP3 or IMAP.  This article explains the differences:  http://mail2web.com/blog/2010/02/pop-imap-difference/

  • I don't want my iPhone with my Outlook Contacts

    Hi
I have iTunes instaled in my company computer (windows). In that computer, I have outlook (and the outlook contacts).
Every time I sync my iPhone 5 with iTunes I get all those contacts in my iPhone contacts! And I dont want that!
I tried to unthick the box that says "syncronyze contacts with" but I lost all the contacts in my iphone
then I syncronized again the contacts with windows contacts and got the problem again.
the only solution I see is to delete all contacts that I dont want in the "Windows Contacts" folder but I'm not sure this will work because:
    - I don't want to lose those contacts in my Outlook and
    - I don't know if that folder will not syncronize with again with outlook and store the contacts again
Do you have any solution to my problem? I'm sure it's simple, but itunes and me are not the best friends
    Thanks!

Sorry if I'm not making myself clear, this is confuse, and explaining by email it's even more confuse!
The first time I sync with this computer I got all the contacts from outlook in my phone. I deleted the contacts I didn't want in the phone and it was ok.
The next time I connected to itunes (I don't use itunes a lot...) I had the same problem!
Then, I tried to unthick the box that says "syncronyze contacts with..." and lost them all, so I synced again with Windows Contacts because all the contacts are there (the contacts from my phone, that I want, and the contacts from outlook, that I don't want in my phone)
the thing is, if I delete the contacts I don't want directly in Windows Contacts when I sync I will have no problem...(right?)
but what are the consequences (namely, to outlook) of deleting this contacts?

  • My ipod was disabled and says connect to itunes, but all of the videos and question say it will delete everying on my ipod. iCloud backup hasent been turned on either. I don't want anythin to be deleted HELP?

My ipod touch 4g was disabled yeterday, and i tried it so many times it say to connect to iTunes. I don't want to because all of the discussions I've read say it will delete all of my data. I have lots and lots of pictures and apps I don't want too lose. Some of them are very valuableto me. I didn't get the chance to turn iCloud back up on, and I really want to. is there any way i can restore my ipod without erasing all of my data. PLEASE HELP, I REALLY NEED IT! By the way my Sleep/Wake button and my volume buttons don't work, so I use assistive touch, my home button works though.

You cannot enable without restoring it and losing everything you have failed to save to your computer.
This is one of the many reason it is very important tostore everything on your computer/cloud service.  Nothing should only be on the ipod.

  • I got a new ipod and some of the music that i sync was my daughters and i don't want it how do delete it from my ipod

I need to delete music off my ipod how can I do that with out taking all the music off the ipod?

Under the Music tab for your iPod Sync preferences with iTunes, choose selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres instead of entire library.
Select the iTunes playlists, and/or artists, albums, genres you want transferred to your iPod followed by a sync. This will remove the music from your iPod that you don't want on the iPod.

  • How do I stop my iphone from deleting emails from the server and visa versa

I have the iphone 4, recently my phone started sending email info to the server. Meaning it deletes emails from my hotmail account if I delete them off my phone and visa versa. I know there is a setting under advanced setting, I don't have that button. I showed someone in the apple store and she said it was a software issue and to wipe my phone and back it up from my back up, this didn't help anything, neither did re setting the settings. I don't even have the spot in the settings where I can put in the pop3 information. This is a new thing my phone started doing and I don't understand why I don't have the same setting buttons as everyone else. Any advice? The only other thing I can think is wiping my phone and starting over but I don't want to lose the data in my aps
I'm on the newest software version, this started happening just before I did that update.

POP3 settings won't appear if an IMAP service can be found. Basically, you're going to have to set up the account with bogus information so that the phone can't find the server by itself. Then, when it can't, you'll be presented with the advanced settings where you can set it up as POP3 and enter the settings you want to use.
POP3 is considered pretty much obsolete these days. The whole point of IMAP is to allow you replicate the server based mail store completely so that all information is available across all of your devices. If you don't want things crowding your in-box, but don't want to delete it entirely, why not just set up folders and move things where you want them to be once you read them?

  • IPhone is deleting emails automatically

My iPhone is deleting my emails after a certain period of time. I move emails to a folder I have named 'To Keep' for a reason but they are still being deleted. They are on my email account on the computer but don't stay on my phone. Please help.

Go to Settings>Mail, Contact, Calendars. Select the account. Look at "Mail Days to Sync". What does it say?
Messages will be deleted from the phone, but left on the server after the specified time period to conserve space. You can set it to "No Limit" if you want.

  • HT1692 i don't want my husbands ipad contacts emails etc to sync with my kids ipads what do i do?

Hi can someone please tell me how to stop my husbands IPAD2 sync with my 2 boys IPAD mini's?  All his contacts emails, calendar appointments have transferred to his, which is not great as I don't want the kids to email his business contacts!!  Thank you.

If you are all sharing an Apple ID and iCloud account that is why your husbands contacts are syncing to the iPads. You can delete the iCloud account on the kids iPads and they can create their own iCloud accounts if they need their own iCloud accounts.
If your kids are young kids and don't use contacts, notes and calendars, just delete the iCloud account on their iPads.

  • HT201302 How do I transfer photos from my MacBook Pro to my iPhone WITHOUT deleting them from my computer?

I have ~5000 photos on my MacBook Pro, only a few if which were taken with my iPhone. If I use Sync in iTunes any photos on my computer that were not taken with my iPhone are deleted from my computer. There is no obvious way to prevent this happening. Could I create a duplicate iPhoto library and "sacrifice" it while syncing my iPhone without losing other libraries? Any other ideas?

No, that doesn't work that way.
Photos on your computer ae not deleted by iTunes.  When you sync photos to an iPhone using iTunes, photos on the iPhone that are not in the folders or albums being synced by itunes will be deleted from the iPhone. Photos on your computer should not be touched at all.
Also transferring pictures from the iPhone to a computer has nothing to do with iTunes.
It is done through Photos, iPhoto, Aperture, or even Image Capture.

  • TS2755 I have an 11 yr old and want to use the same apple id because I don't want to allow her an email address now. Is there a way to still use IMessage or does it connect all texts to both phones? How about pics? Thank you.

I have an 11 yr old who I want to use my apple id on our Iphones jointly. We do not want her to have an email address currently because of some issues. Anyway, does both phones being connected to the same apple id mean that when IMessage is used that we both get the same messages? Also, what causes our pics to each other not to go through the system? Thank you for any assistance!

IF both devices have the same Apple ID signed in ; it will believe the devices are meant to both recieve them. My biggest recommandation is you can create an email address for your daughter and in the future when she gets her own email address she can chang ethe primary email address to the up to date one.

  • Is there a way to put a large amount of music on your iPod without having to keep all the files in iTunes on your computer as well? I want to put my entire music collection (including cds) on my iPod but don't want to take up the space on my computer.

is there a way to put a large amount of music on the ipod without having to keep all the files on itunes as well? I want to use my ipod as an externa drive and put all of my music on it without taking up the space on my computer. I also don't want to lose all my files everytime I plug ipod into my computer. Is this possible? Is there a way to avoid using itunes and only use the ipod as an external drive?

You cannot put music onto your iPod without using iTunes, that what iTunes is for.
It's also not a good idea to wipe the music from your computer and having it only on your iPod. We see countless posts here from people who have done just that - and then lost everything when the iPod needs a Restore. Even if you never need to Restore your iPod, what happens when you eventually replace the iPod? You'll be back here asking how to get the music from one iPod to another. That's not easy to do, we see countless posts about that too!
A much better idea is to buy an external drive (a proper external drive, not simply an iPod) and put your large amount of music onto that drive. Then point your iTunes Library to that drive. However, you need to remember two things:
You still need a backup of that Library.
Using an external drive as your iTunes Library means that the drive must be connected and ready to read before starting your iTunes programme. If it isn't, then iTunes will look on the C: drive - and you will find no music in your Library. (Once again, lots of posts about that as well!)

None are '''''necessary''''' to use Firefox, but some parts of some web pages aren't going to work without a specific plugin being installed.
