I downloaded CS6 (I had to wipe my hard drive) I got (1) of (2) and (2) of (2) downloaded - NOW WHAT?  No instructions on how to install?

Anyone who can help it would be appreciated
It is is like Adobe has abandoned what they sold me in 2012

if you downloaded an exe and a 7z file, put both in the same directory and click (or double click) the exe.
any other situation, what os, what files did you download (names and extensions)?

I recently had to wipe my hard drive to upgrade os. Now i have no music in my itunes library. How do I get the music back?

If you have lost your previously purchased iTunes data, you can Download Past Purchases - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.
If for any reason you can't do the above -  Contact the iTunes Store - http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/.  At the bottom left, you will see a "contact support" link.  Just select it, then select "iTunes Store", and the select "purchases, Billing and Redemption".   Follow the on screen instructions.
They will recommend in the future, you back up your data, but usually grant a one time "re-grant" of all your purchases.
Music that was not purchased from the iTunes store, would need to be re-import into iTunes from the discs.

  • I had to Wipe my hard drive! Ipod wont recognize comp now plz help!!!

I recently had to wipe my hard drive to repair windows, now when I try to sync my I-pod nano it tries to "delete and sync" all my songs I have purchased and downloaded from this very same computer. I need to know how to either get my ipod to resync back to this computer or how to re-aquire the songs I have already purchased. please help, I am new to I-pods! thanks!

    Hello hoparella,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
With your iPod connected, have you tried using the *File-> Transfer Purchases* options?
Otherwise, another work around would be to copy all the music currently on your iPod to your new iTunes library. From there, you can "Erase and Sync" the iPod with your new iTunes library or opt to restore it.

For ways on how to copy music directly from your iPod to iTunes, see this older post of mine.

    - Transfer your iTunes' purchases to the new computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Try making a backup of the iPod by right clicking on the iPod  under Devices in iTunes and selecting Backup.
    - Connect your new iPod and restore the iPod from that backup if you wish.

  • Had to wipe my hard drive and lost my purchases. Help?

I know how to get purchases off my ipod and on to my new itunes but I have one little problem that I hadn't anticipated. The day I had my hard drive wiped I bought some music and hadn't yet had the chance to put it on my ipod. Is there some way I can get these purchases back or do I have to beg the 'rents for more money to re-purchase the songs?

The iTS terms of purchase allow you one download. It is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
With that said, the iTS has been known to allow a second d/l under certain circumstances. You can contact the iTS web based customer service via this page and plead your case if you want - http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/

In that process I lost my LR4 catalogs I was able to redownload the program but the catalogs are not there and not all of those pictures are on my external hard drive because same said teen decided they were going to borrow my external hard drive without telling me and "made room" on it. Is there a way to recover my catalogs? Please tell me there is because I was in the middle of working on a session when I had to wipe my drive and I would REALLY like to not have to go back and reshoot it. Any help would be wonderful!

It depends on how you wiped your drive.  Depending on how you did it, only the directory was erased and the data can be found with drive recovery software.  Some are free, although there is a small charge for most of them (~$30).  You can usually download a trial version that shows if it will work and you have to pay to be able to save the found files.  Use Google to search for the software.  Different programs work differently and can find different things.
    Good luck.

  • Any chance of recovering my iTunes if I had to wipe my hard drive?

Is there any possibility of recovering my itunes after having to clean my hard drive?

If you haven't backed up your iTunes purchases to an external drive or CD's and you wipe the drive you will lose your iTunes library.
If you are a resident of the U.S., have iTunes 10.3 or later installed, you can re download iTunes purchases for free.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • I had to replace the hard drive in MBP but I cannot find a disc to load the OS to it? How do I do this, I had to replace the hard drive in MBP but I cannot find a disc to load the OS to it? How do I do this

as the old hard drive failed completely. CAn I use my Back up  copy to upload the OS to my granddaughter's HD>
I think She had the same OS! snow leopard. thought not sure if it was just Leopard only being a student guess she was strapped for cash to buy SL.
I cannot find any discs for Leopard.
I know I downloaded SL when I bought it so no disc for that.
She needs this for Uni and other stuff as she has no other form of entertainment in her rented house. No Tv or anything.;-(
I don't want to do anything illegal.
    thanks

If you upgraded to SL, you did so by disk...there is no download. You have no choice but to find your original Install disk or the SL retail disk. If your backup is a Time Machine backup, you can't boot from that, but once you reinstall OS X, you can use that to restore. If you can't find your disks, you'll have to call AppleCare & get replacements, or find a retail SL disk.

  • I already owned and used OS X Yosemite, but had to wipe my hard drive yesterday, and had only one disk that I could find: Snow Leopard.  How do I download Yosemite without paying for it again?

I'd like to download Yosemite.  I am using Snow Leopard.  Do I have to download the next OS X in order, or can I go straight to Yosemite, and if so, how do I go about it?

If the computer has a recovery partition, press the Command and R keys at startup and use it to download Yosemite. If not, open the Mac App Store, log in with your Apple ID, click on the Purchases tab, and redownload Yosemite from there.
    Both of these are free.

  • HT1349 I had to wipe my hard drive and re-install iTunes on my computer. I don't want to lose all of my old songs by syncing, many of which aren't available for purchase on iTunes, but it says i have to to manually manage music. How can I bypass this?

I really don't want to lose the songs on my phone. Why does Apple have to be so difficult?

That's like saying 'my house caught fire and burned to the ground, so I didn't have the opportunity to purchase a fire extinguisher'.
The iPhone is not a backup device. You can purchase 3rd party software that 'may' be able to extract the music from your phone, but there is no supported method to get music that was not purchased from iTunes off of your phone and onto your computer.

  • Had to wipe computer hard drive, songs saved on iPod

So I used to have my iPod and my one computer and everything was fine. Then my computer's hard drive broke/wore out. My home folder was too messed up to back anything up once I realized I would have to reformat it. So after I get my computer back from apple w/ a new hard drive I connect my iPod to it and get asked if i want to reset it and sync it to "this new computer", I answer no. I haven't been able to copy my song files off of my iPod back onto my hard drive. Well no problem until the battery starts crapping out and now I have to get it replaced. Is there anyway to save my songs?

Both of you should check out the instructions/suggestions here.
    Music from iPod to computer.
There's also another method I've seen posted. I've successfully tested this across several different Windows PCs.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
However it appears that no playlists or any other info such as ratings/last played etc will transfer.
If this is important to you, you may want to use other options.
There's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer.
Once the songs are safely back in your iTunes library (and only then), you can answer "yes" to that message, associate your iPod with this new library and return to using the iPod as normal.

  • I've recently had to have my hard drive replaced which means my itunes has been lost can i transfere whats i have on my itouch back onto my new itunes??

      can anyone help??

    Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Make a backup of the iPod by connecting to the computer and right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting Backup
    - Restore the iPod from backup.

  • How do I wipe my hard drive?

I have an iMac G5.  I'd like to wipe the hard drive so I can donate it, and have tried restarting while holding down the "c" key with the Mac OS X Install CD inserted into the drive, in an attempt to restart from the CD, but the computer does not boot up from the CD as it should.  I've also tried holding down the "option" key while rebooting, but again am not given the option to boot up from the CD.  Any ideas?  When I try clicking on "Install Mac OS X" directly from the CD, an error message pops up that says "The applicationi Install Mac OS X quit unexpectedly."  The problem details read: "Library not loaded.."  Does it seem like I have a bad Mac OS X Install CD?  Any other ideas for wiping my hard drive?

Could be the DVD, so try cleaning it. But could be the optical drive is faulty. If you have another Mac, you could try connecting the two in Firewire Target Disk Mode to use the optical drive of the other Mac.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1661
From Disk Utility, you want to go to Erase>Security Options>Zero Data.
If that still won't do it, then boot the G5 in single user mode. Cmd-s at the startup chime. At the prompt enter
AND, IMPORTANT, THE FOLLOWING WILL ERASE NOT ONLY THE USER DATA, BUT THE OS INSTALLED AS WELL. BE SURE YOU WANT TO DO THIS. See below for directions for deleting only users/accounts.
    mount -uw /
    and hit return. Then enter
    rm -rf /
hit return, and watch the entire thing, all user data and the OS, disappear before your eyes.
But this won't zero erase the data. It might still be recoverable by a software recovery program.
If you only want to remove the user accounts, you must know their short names and enter
    rm -rf /Users/shortnameofuser
If the short name is more than one word put that in quotes, which would be "short name of user"
