The latest version of iTunes is installed when you update the iOS version. If you are getting a message to update iTunes, it is saying to update iTunes on your computer, not the iPad.

I am trying to instal the latest version of iTunes onto my MacBook Pro, but my computer has been "configuring" the installation since 5pm yesterday and now it is 10:30am. It has never done this before. Can anybody help me out?

This is a copy of ONEof the keys in the registry I changed as told by Apple support today. I also have changed others as instructed by GEAR software support to manually delete GEAR drivers (that I had installed but couldn't delete some of the others they mentioned from Windows system 32. Then some bright spark at work told me I need the Gear drivers so I downloaded the software and installed again.

I just installed the latest version of iTunes to my pc w/Windows 8. Seemed to install fine. Purchased a bunch of songs from the iTunes store. Nothing will play. I click the song, the speaker icon comes on next t the song, but it doesn't begin to play. Cannot figure out what is wrong. Any suggestions?
I just wanted to post that I found my I-pod cache file and deleted it and now synchronization works fine, so no need for anyone to post an answer to this. Thank you very much.

My computer (Macbook Pro) won't let me download music to my iPhone 5 so I went to try and download the latest version of iTunes but it will not let me install it on my computer. Mac OS X Version 10.6.8
The most recent iTunes version (iTunes 12.0.1) requires OS X Lion or higher, so you have to upgrade OS X to a higher operating system like OS X Yosemite.
You can download OS X Yosemite from the Mac App Store, and it will check if your Mac is compatible. Before upgrading, make a backup of your files with Time Machine and check that your applications are compatible -> http://www.roaringapps.com -

(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:

I updated the latest version of itunes onto my pc (windows xp) and all of a sudden I can't open it up. Everytime I try to open it I get a window that says: "Data Execution Prevention - Microsoft Windows...To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program. Change settings." I have tried to change the settings. Uninstalled & reinstalled itunes. Updated the lates version of quicktime. Nothing has helped. If there is anyone who has a suggestion I would appreciate it. I am at my wits end with this. Thank you in advance for all your suggestions.
If anyone is looking at this and would like to know what I did to finally get it to work, I did the following: I right click on the itunes icon on my desktop.......clicked on "run as"........made sure that it ran as administrator. This finally worked for me. Hope you all find this info helpful.

I have been trying for weeks to download the latest version of iTunes to my windows 7 laptop so that i can sync my newly updated ios7 iphone to my computer however it just wont work! Whats up with the latest version of itunes. It won't let me down load songs to my shuffle.
Ever since I updated the latest itunes 10, I,ve had problems with my Ipod shuffle. Itunes syncs with it (all but slowly) but then won't let me replace songs on it. Restored it to factory settings. Tried my partners shuffle. Same problem so I gather the problem is with the latest version of itunes. Anyone else experiencing these problems? If so, any help would be much appreciated. Starting to get severly ****** of with it. Even considering going to another music store.

the only messages I get is when I try to download songs from my library. It comes up saying " a number of errors occured when trying to download the music" but it does not tell me what those errors are.
Initially when my shuffle was full and I tried to replace the songs with new ones, it would go really slowly then show that only four or five songs had been downloaded. When I disconnected my shuffle and played it, it still had all the original songs on it. I tried to restore my shuffle to original factory settings but it would not let me. I then reloaded my original ipod restorer off disc and this has removed everything off my shuffle. I then uninstalled itunes then reinstalled but still have the same initial problems.
I've got itunes to automatically sync with the ipods which it does successfully but thats as far as it goes. -
I was upgrading to the latest version of itunes, and my new ipad mini was connected to my computer at the same time, try to sync for the first time. The upgrade crashed part way through, and now itunes won't load and I get an error message saying MSVCR80.dll is missing. How do I do about reinstalling this file?
Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

I downloaded the latest version of iTunes and left my iPod to charge, and now when I go to iTunes, it shows me that all the songs are on the iPod, but when I go to listen to my music on my iPod, there is no music. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and if so how can I fix it?
For general library squiffiness following an upgrade the easiest thing is to restore your last backup, but I guess if it were that simple you wouldn't be here.
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder (usually inside <Profile's Music>\iTunes) should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup! For example grab SyncToy 2.1, a free tool from MS. This can be used to copy your entire iTunes library (& other important data folders) onto another hard drive or network share. You can then use SyncToy periodically to synchronise or echo your library to the backup. A preview will show which files need to be updated giving you a chance to spot unexpected changes and during the run only the new or updated files will be copied saving lots of time. And if your media is all organised below the main iTunes folder then you should also be able to open the backup library on any system running the same version of iTunes regardless of drive letter or path.

Crikey. Okay, that's part of the Gracenote SDK (that iTunes uses to go online to get album and track information for imports).
Let's take the message at it's word. If the file is damaged, we may be able to get past this by removing it from the iTunes program files and then doing a repair install of iTunes.
In Computer, open Local Disk C:\ (or whichever drive you've got your program files installed on).
If you've got a 32-bit version of Vista, open the "Program Files" folder.
If you've got a 64-bit version of Vista, open the "Program files (x86)" folder.
Open the "iTunes" folder.
Drag the gnsdk_sdkmanager.dll file out of the folder and onto your Desktop.
Restart the PC. Head into your Uninstall a Program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair".
Does the repair install go through properly? If so, can you launch iTunes now?
