I Fully Admit My Retardation

Well, I always tried to manage to avoid it happening and so far, for the year I've had it, I have always remembered. This time without thinking about it, I disconnected the iPod without first ejecting it and my worst nightmare came true. It froze on the disconnect screen so off I went to apple.com to figure out how to restart/reset it. I managed to do that and it told me iTunes would restore it. Deleting everything on it was no big deal, so I went ahead and restored it. Now anytime I try to get iTunes to use it, it tells me there is an error such as the files might be corrupt or that the iPod might be damaged and that it needs to be restored. Needless to say after the third time restoring it, I realized that yes, I am indeed a moron and I need help figuring out what to do about this since it seems it will no longer work. Does anyone have any answers to my inquiry? It'd be truly super.
Dell   Windows XP

Now I feel like even more of a fool and hope that this will be deleted shortly. I managed to figure out how to uninstall the last iPod update - which I only thought was possible through iTunes. After I did that, I plugged it the iPod, ran through the restore process, and low and behold it resolved the issue. Though no one actually helped me with this question, thanks for viewing it anyway!

  • Can I connect my new touch on my MacOS to the iTunes apple id same as other touch I'm still using and not lose everything, and how?

    Hi,
    I have a Ipod Touch that I have an apple ID for and have set up on my MAC OS with Itunes and all that jazz.
    I however fully admit I know very little about properly using Itunes especially when I get new Ipods. Case and Point = I have 6 different Ipod versions and have never known how to transfer the music from any on of them to a new one or add it to one library because one time when plugging in a Ipod nano I lost everything off my other ipod nano and my library and it all just didn't work out well.
    Now I have another Ipod Touch. I learned that you should use the same apple id for a new Ipod-thats something new I didn't know. The others are under Id's and emails I don't even remember honestly. Not sure how I'll ever fix that.
    I've read about 2 user accounts. Get stuck with something about a key on my mac wanting authorization when I had two accounts, so thats just out.
    I've read about 2 libraries, but do not really understand the process & have not gotten anywhere with the pressing option while opening ITunes-Do I have to have my second touch plugged in first? That doesn't seem right.
    My Main question, well, one of em: I set up the second touch with same Apple ID but I have not attached to my Mac Because I am afraid of whatever may happen. So: Will my Mac say "Hey, what's this Second ipod and what's your purpose kinda deal?" or Will it replace my other ipod and wipe it blank, my Mac then saying some other choice words to me about the attempt of two ipods. . .?
    So-My Goal here: When I open ITunes or it opens when connected to one of the touches (at this point I've lost hope on the other ipods for now) how do I make it so that under devices it shows the names of Two Different Ipods-I did name them differently if that matters. And How then do I make the Mac know which touch I connect or will it just Know by the powers that be? And How Can I Split some of the data from my 1st touch to my 2nd touch? And Add new data to one or the other or both.
    My No Logic behind it Easy idea I wonder of:   Can I just connect the new Blank touch in to my mac that already has a touch with Data on it, both under the same email and apple id, and have nothing go wrong? Will my Mac set it up like a new ipod and list it as a new one under devices ? ? Then Ask another question on how to transfer some of my data from one to the other in another Incredibly Long post, such as this?
    Sharing between the two (and maybe the others later one):  I only have 1 MAC so the whole home share doesn't seem to help me here. But I've read of familys-whole families!-having multiple ipod users, I'm guessing under the same apple ID? ? ? I don't really know, anyway, and they can sync the data from one area, or different libraries for each. HOW? And what's best for me to do, or rather, since you see how little I understand of this entire process, which method do you think I can actually complete without messing something or everything up?:)
    Any help here would be great. I sincerely apologize if this is a repeat and I just don't get the other questions or answers. I'd just really like to figure this out so that my 6 other Ipods from past years with complete music libraries and forever unseen photos -once they had a camera-yeah, it goes back that far . . . It'd be nice to actually have all that back, or at least accessible without fear that it'll all disappear. What would happen if I connnected an Ipod nano that I think has another apple ID to my MAC? Would Itunes like fizz out and banish my touch or something? Yeah, I need help. I can use em. . .does not mean you have to be smarter than the device apparently. Well, its Itunes that really just doesn't get along with me or my devices I think. . .Thank you for any ideas on simplifying this all for me.

    Just connect the new iPod to your computer and setup the iPod via iTunes (instead of via wifi).

  • XML data inserting into Master, not Page

    First, I fully admit that I jumped into the deep end of the pool.  This is my first InDesign project and I'm trying to set up a 2-page spread master to support loading my content from XML.
    Thanks to the great online help, these forums/community resources, and my growing bookshelf, I've successfully (or so it seems) created my Master layout, with frames appropriately tagged for my XML (as confirmed by the Structure).  Since I'm very novice at InDesign, my testing isn't always unambiguous, but I HAVE successfully loaded my external XML (including graphics and anchored text, plus the story) into my document.
    The problem is that the data seems to be flowing into the Master, and not the Page.  So if I create all the pages I need ahead of time (right now just 2 spreads for my test), both pages are populated with the first record.
    If I only create the first spread, then the data flows and I get the magic "+" for overflow, but I can't click on it in the Page.  If I change to the Master I can click on it, which seems the major clue as to why this isn't working.  I just have no idea how to fix it.
    From everything I've read it seems that I should be able to tag my frames in the Master (which I want to reuse for other documents) and have the data flow into the Pages.
    Am I missing something obvious?
    Or is what I'm trying to do just not possible?  (if so, does that mean I have to keep re-tagging the frames every time I make a new Document?  ugh)
    I've spent hours trying to resolve this, and would really appreciate a pointer to get me moving again.
    Thanks!
    julie

    Hm, that seems contradictory to everything I've read and the examples I've seen  (although I may have misunderstood the examples - none are quite as complicated as my layout).  My text frame has several anchors for XML data that doesn't just flow with the story.  How do I set up the tagged anchor frames I need if the story text frame is in the Master but not tagged?
    I thought that the story text frame and the anchor frames (some graphics and some text) all needed to be in the same context.  If I put them in the Master I get the XML flowing into the Master.  If I put them into the Page then the new pages created don't have the proper frames.  If I just put the story text frame in the Master, how do I associate it with the anchor frames (I only know how to do this by using the Story editor on the tagged frame as described in A Designer's Guide To Adobe InDesign and XML)?
    I'll go back and work through the samples again, but I definitely don't understand how it all fits together.
    Thanks!

    Thoughts and suggestions?

    I have a Support Request open with Oracle right now (it's taking a few weeks to resolve) but here's the update:
    OBIEE 10g handles DATE types differently than 11g. Both the support rep and I can't figure out how, but they are different. If you bring the column in as a DATETIME in your Physical Layer you can't save it system-wide, even if you do set a time zone for your account (My Account -> Preferences -> Time Zone). If you bring the column in as DATE you can save it system-wide but you can't display the hours/mins/secs, only the M/D/Y. This has been tested on a 9i and 10g database and produced the same thing on both. The problem never occurred with those same columns using OBIEE 10g.
    Oracle support has not fully admitted this as a bug, but the rep working on this SR said this will probably be fixed in the next release- 11.1.1.4, which is due out late Jan/early Feb of this year. He is trying to reproduce this so he can log it as a bug (which we all are hoping for!) so Oracle can address it.
    For now, I've found that you are stuck with two options: 1) bring the column in as a DATE, display it system-wide as a saved format, but you can't show the time, and 2) don't save that date value with a system-wide formatting and set it manually on every report you need a custom format (don't forget to set your time zone).
    If I hear anything more back from Oracle support I'll update this thread.
    Sorry guys, looks like we're all stranded on this one...

  • Too many partitions in my W530?

    This may look like a silly question and I fully admit that it might be it... But I have been unable to find a way to get rid of some apparently unuseful partitions in my SSD. I am attaching two images (see below) for clarity.
    In image 1, I can see only two partitions, C: and Q: and there are also listed three other "Devices with Removable Storage": the DVD RW drive (D: ), the Removable Disk (F: ) and the Removable Disk (G: ). I tried to get rid of these last two (F: and G: ) but could not figure out how to achieve it. Not that their presence is a problem, just for cleaning purposes, as I do not see any need for them to be listed there. I don't even fathom what they may actually represent.
    In image 2, taken from the Acronis True Image backup app, besides the same C: and Q: partitions, I also see a System_drv and an unamed partition that are not listed in the Windows-7 figure. The Unamed Partition, by the way, is always empty but I was discouraged in the past to just get rid of it. I wonder if I should, having received conflicting advice on whether or not to do it.
    My question is: How can I eliminate the Removable Disks F: and G: as shown in the Windows figure and would it be a good idea to get rid of the Unamed partition as shown in the Acronis figure.
    All help will be very much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Moderator note: images totalling more than 50k converted to links per forum rules:  Lenovo Community Participation Rules

    If you were to install Win7 from scratch on a brand new empty drive (spinner or SSD, doesn't matter) and not change anything from the standard default installation options, you'd get TWO partitions:
    (1) un-lettered "system reserved" 100MB, where Boot Manager (and boot menu, presented if you were to install a second or subsequent bootable OS after installing Win7 as the first bootable OS) is placed.  This is also marked as the ACTIVE partition, so that the BIOS goes here to start the actual boot process.
    (2) C-partition for the rest of the drive.  This is where Windows itself gets installed, as a "system" drive.
    In the case of Lenovo-provided machines, they have installed additional recovery tools, which are placed into that small un-lettered partition normally referred to as "system reserved" and only 100MB.  Lenovo has enlarged the partition from the standard 100MB to about 1.5GB, but it's functionally identical in purpose.  Also, it's been labeled "SYSTEM_DRV", rather than "System Reserved", but this is of no relevance.
    And Lenovo's also added that additional Q-partition, which is where the "data" for system recovery is placed, in the event you needed to or wanted to restore your machine to initial factory state, exactly as it looked when it first came out of the box.
    So... what's critical here is that standard Windows7 requires the TWO partitions: (1) ACTIVE partition, where Boot Manager and boot menu lives and where the BIOS goes to start the boot process on what is configured as the first hard drive in the boot sequence, and (2) C-partition because that is specified as the one-and-only bootable OS partition according to the default one-OS boot menu built by the Win7 installer and subsequently examined by Boot Manager at boot time.  Since by default there is only one bootable OS you will not be presented with the boot menu, but instead Boot Manager will simply use that one-and-only OS and start it.  If you had two or more bootable OS's, you'd get a boot list presented onscreen by Boot Manager, and you'd need to select which one to boot from within say 10 seconds else the default OS would automatically be booted.
    Any "system image" backup requires BOTH of the above partitions to be checked, since [at least theoretically] BOTH of them need to be backed up and/or restored in tandem should you need to recover from a disaster.  By backing and restoring BOTH, you guarantee a 100% working operating environment should you need to recover from a disaster.
    Now the Q partition can be deleted (and its space re-allocated to either expand C, or perhaps in conjunction with shrinking the generally much too large C can be used to allocate one or more additional "data" partitions D, E, etc.) if you will NEVER need to or want to recover back to Lenovo's "factory-provided" out-of-the-box system setup.  This could be the case if you use an alternative method for disaster recovery, such as using Macrium Reflect to take regular periodic (say once a week) "system image" backups, say to an external USB 3.0 drive.
    So you could use Macrium Reflect to take an initial "system image" backup, which would effectively be your equivalent of the Lenovo-provided Q partition content, although you wouldn't need Q if you had to restore the Macrium "system image" backup.  And then you'd just establish a weekly regime of further "system image" backups using Macrium, as your ongoing regular protection from a loss of Windows integrity which required some kind of restore to a prior working system.  In this case it would be no older than last week's backup.
    If you needed more current protection, just take more frequent "system image" backups (if you only have a C partition), or add a second backup tool like NovaBACKUP to take monthly/daily "data" backups (also to the external USB 3.0 drive).
    ==> You don't have "too many partitions".  But the above description explains why you have what you have, and confirms that you can blow away Q if you have an alternative and superior backup/recovery method (such as Macrium Reflect) in case of a disaster.

  • Crystal Report generating data from incorrect data source

    In dealing with a recent post about an upgrade to Crystal XI R2 mixing badly with an old VS 2003 project ( Update to CR XI R2 and service pack 4 issues with VS 2003 ), I've been attempting a few things to get past the issues with missing parameters and so on.  I found that I actually was using a parameter in the report I was trying to run, so I assigned the proper value to said parameter, ran the report, and lo and behold all was well.  The data was coming back correctly, no errors, everything seemed fine.<br><br>
    Then I checked the results against the production environment of this application, hosted on a remote server, and was disappointed to find that the reports were now coming back blank.  After some deeper investigation, it turned out that the data it was retrieving was coming from my development server and not the production server like it had in the past.  As far as I can tell, it is completely ignoring the dataset that I'm assigning to the report object (which is filling with the correct data) and just running the query built into the report, which is connected via ODBC to my development server database.  I have no idea what this is going to do when the application is run from the production environment itself, as in, my customers running the application from their desktops, and I have no way of testing this.<br><br>
    I will fully admit that the report may be poorly designed, because then and surely enough now I'm no crystal expert, but as I said in my previous thread, this all worked fine until I upgraded to XI R2 for another project.  Essentially what I want is for the report to accept the dataset and display ONLY that data, and not run a query against the ODBC connection.  Is there some way to force this behavior?  Here's a sample of my code, if it helps:<br><br>
    ReportDocument myReport = new ReportDocument();<br>
    DataSet myData = new DataSet();<br>
    MySqlDataAdapter myAdapter;<br>
    myAdapter = new MySqlDataAdapter();<br><br>
    file_name = ApplicationMain.file_path"
    Files
    Invoice_"invoice_number+".pdf";<br>
    MySqlCommand cmd = generate_command(invoice_number, false);<br><br>
    myAdapter.SelectCommand = cmd;<br>
    myAdapter.Fill(myData,"X");<br><br>
    myReport.Load(ApplicationMain.file_path+"
    Files
    Invoice.rpt");<br><br>
    myReport.SetParameterValue("requ_id",this.ID);<br>
    myReport.SetDataSource(myData);<br>
    myReport.ExportToDisk(CrystalDecisions.Shared.ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat, file_name);<br><br>
    It's all relatively simple, create a dataset, load the report, assign the dataset to the report, export to a PDF.
    I've tried to reassign the report's connection to the currently connected database (code snippet below) but every time I end up getting a logon failed error message, even when I know for sure the login data is correct, and even when I'm just connecting to my local development server.<br><br>
    TableLogOnInfos crtableLogoninfos = new TableLogOnInfos();<br>
    TableLogOnInfo crtableLogoninfo = new TableLogOnInfo();<br>
    ConnectionInfo crConnectionInfo = new ConnectionInfo();<br>
    crConnectionInfo.ServerName = ApplicationMain.com_host;<br>
    crConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = ApplicationMain.com_database;<br>
    crConnectionInfo.UserID = ApplicationMain.com_username;<br>
    crConnectionInfo.Password = ApplicationMain.com_password;<br><br>
    foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table CrTable in myReport.Database.Tables)<br>
    {<br>
         crtableLogoninfo = CrTable.LogOnInfo;<br>
         crtableLogoninfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectionInfo;<br>
         CrTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(crtableLogoninfo);<br>
    }<br><br>
    I ran that after loading the report, but received a failed login error every time.  Any suggestions on how to proceed with this?  I'm at a loss because up until now I've never had a problem like this with a crystal report, they always just took the datasets I gave them without ever running anything else.

    After attempting quite a few of the proposed solutions, nothing seemed to be working.  Due to the limited usage and number of reports in my application, I decided to try recreating them from scratch (there are only 3 and 2 are nearly identical) using only the crystal 9 integrated designer in VS2003.  My initial testing has been successful, even using the same base query that the failing reports were using.
    Dropping everything and recreating all of ones reports is not the greatest solution, but at worst it's a few hours of tweaking, as opposed to days of frustration messing around trying to get the "corrupted" reports to work again.  Thank you again for your assistance.

  • Streaming video in interactive pdf

    I have read everything I can on this subject, and although it looks like I should be able to do it, I have so far been unable to make it work!
    My dilemma: Creating an Interactive PDF from InDesign CS6, and I would like to include links to various streaming video's throughout the pdf.  I would like them to run within the pdf (as a floating window), not pop out to the users web browser.  I would like people to be able to play them, and then play them again if they need to listen again, aka, loop, I guess.
    My attempts: I have created the Play button (to launch the video) in InD and when I exported it to PDF, I tried to set the video up there.  I had minimal success with that route.  I've also tried to do the whole thing directly in InD, including the link to the video, but had no success.
    I have downloaded two different replacement Flash players and tried to make both of them work, but with no real success.  However, I fully admit that I am not as technically savy as what they expect, since I really don't get the whole "do this in Java" part.  I tried to copy their script stuff in and replace my info where I saw it fit, but apparently there is other things going on that I am not getting.
    Help!  If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.  Or even if there is somewhere you can steer me to learn how to do it, I'll go.  So far, most of the stuff has been programmatically over my head, even though I'm not a new user to the Creative Suite, unfortunately, it's all been print.

    First thing to say is that if you want the video to be truly "streaming" it has to be served from an Adobe Media Server platform using the RTMP/RTMPE protocol.
    Assuming you have the URL of such a stream, it's easy to create the annotation in Acrobat Pro. If you want a floating window and a 'play' button, this is the simnplest workflow as there's no scripting involved - but you need to create an image that will act as the button.
    Use the Add Video tool to draw a region on the page which will be where your 'play' button sits.
    In the Insert Video dialog there's a "Select file or insert URL" field at the top - in there, type the full URL of your RTMP stream.
    Click "show advanced options" and select "Create poster from file", then open your image of the play button.
    Set the playback style to "floating window" and enter the dimensions of the stream.
    Click OK.
    If you already have the graphic for the play button as part of the PDF page itself, you can use a different workflow:
    Use the Add Video tool to draw a very small region on the page which will be where the video poster sits (it has to exist but you want to hide it somewhere...).
    Set the video options as before and click OK.
    Use the Add Link tool to create a link region around the play button shape on your page.
    Set the link to "Custom Action"
    On the Actions tab, set the event to "Multimedia Operation (Acrobat 9 and later)", choose your video from the list, then in the lower area choose Play.

  • "No System Fonts Available" when fonts are embedded

    I'm a writer using LaTeX to produce PDFs. I recently started to use an editor who uses acrobat for editing.
    I have sent him a PDF with all the fonts embedded [full fonts embedded, not just subsets], and the fonts show up that way on the "Fonts" tab of the properties box.
    However, when he goes to edit it in acrobat, the error "No System Fonts Available" shows up.
    Why is acrobat unable to edit a PDF that it fully admits has the fonts embedded?

    Embedded fonts means the metrics for displaying the fonts is within the PDF but not the fonts themselves. This is also why cutting can pasting text with embedded fonts sometime results in little squared indicating an unknown or unmapped character for a given character code. You also do not have the embedded fonts available on your system.

  • Will AT&T support FaceTime over cellular?

    Will AT&amp;T support FaceTime over cellular with the new iPhone 5?

    I am glad to see that this is getting noticed. I went thru this today
    AT&T wants to charge for it. Also caution: If you are "grandfathered" into an unlimited data plan and switch to a new "termed" data plan just to get face time available without wifi your unlimited data plan is no longer valid. Also note that AT&T no longer offers an unlimited data plan at this time so you cannot get it back
    I downloaded IOS6 and turned my wifi off and tried facetime. It advised that I need to contact AT&T to make sure I had the applicable data plan.
    I had an interesting conversation with AT&T today. They told me that I had to sign up for a new plan.
    They fully admit that Facetime is interent based and goes over the internet when connected to wifi. I responded that when wifi is turned off, it goes thru the internet on the phone which is data. Since I have unlimited data they are now restricting my unlimited data. They won't deny that. They only state that AT&T offers a new plan which allows you to use facetime without wifi.  I believe it was called "mobile sharing"
    I escalated to three different supervisors until there wasn't a higher one present. They commited to have someone call me back tomorrow. I asked that take this as a formal complaint. I also advised that I would be contacting the BBB as they have stepped over the bounds of ethichal behavior.

  • Queue visibility in cluster

              Hi
              If I create a JMS server and a destination and then attach it to a member of the
              cluster - will every other member be able to see that destination? I am finding
              that this is not happening in wls 7.0 sp2 clustering. I just have 2 managed servers
              and have attached the Queue to one of them - but the Queue is not getting visible
              from the other servers JNDI tree. Am I doing something wrong or this is a bug
              - pls dont say this is how it works - that would be really bad.
              thanks

    Hi Anamitra,
              I know the customer is always right! ;-)
              But you are trying something that is very common, we have
              many customers using JMS in clusters, and we DO actually test -
              thousands of JMS tests that variously run per-build, nightly,
              and per SP.
              So please forgive me if my first instinct is that
              there is not a WebLogic problem here, but instead a "first-time"
              setup problem. I fully admit that there is a chance you are
              right, but lets look at the other possibilities first.
              Please refer to my upcoming response in your other
              recent thread for continued discussion.

  • OMG, It worked!  The story of my iPod.

    (this is a long story of everything that I did wrong... you are free to skip to the last few paragraphs to see how I fixed my iPod)
    A few days ago, my iPod stopped working.
    I wasn't too surprised. I have a 2nd Gen 20 gig iPod (it is over 3 years old), and I am always expecting my iPod to stop working (if only as an excuse to get a new one).
    Any who, by "it stopped working," I mean that it wouldn't mount. When I would plug in my iPod, it would recharge, but not show up on the desktop or in iTunes.
    I want to stop now and say that the following story is, shall I say, horrific. I fully admit that I did everything I was supposed to, just in the wrong order. As you read this story, please learn from my mistakes!
    As I was saying, it wouldn't mount. So off to this discussion board to try to fix it. One thing people said to do was to reset it by holding down the menu and select button. I did so. The only problem: it was still connected to my iMac. I don't think it liked that, because when I unplugged my iPod, it was in a recursive loop: it showed the Apple logo, and the HD would spin up, and you could hear it "thinking..." then the screen would go blank for a split second, then the logo would appear again, and the HD would spin up... it did this many times.
    At this point, I got scared. I don't know why, but I did. Because I installed a new (3rd party) battery last month, not only did I know how to open it, it was already "broken in" (pun intended). So I opened it up and unplugged the battery. whew, it stopped the loop... but with no battery. I pugged back in the battery, and the loop started back up! oops! off came the battery, and when I plugged it in this time, it wasn't in a loop.
    OK, so I have already made a few mistakes. Ready for some more?
    I plugged back in my iPod, and opened Disk Utility. I tried erasing the iPod, but it got stuck on "partitioning." Then I canceled that (with a great fear that it was going to make me a $500 paperweight) and tried the iPod updater. When I ran the "restore" in the updater, it told me that I needed to run the restore. Weird.
    So I tried erasing it again, this time while I was at work, hoping that it would get past the "partitioning" stage. No luck. 5 hours later, still there. So back to the discussion forms, where someone mentioned reformatting it on a PC. Luckily, over the summer I sold my soul to the Devil and bought a PC Laptop (for work, I keep telling people). In goes the iPod. I told it to reformat, and once done, I "restore"ed it from a newly downloaded iPod Software Updater. Things were actually working! I was getting my hopes up!
    Out of the PC my iPod goes. I figured that since I had reformatted it on my PC, I would need to reformat it again on my Mac. Nope. I just plugged it in, and it asked me what name I wanted to give it. A few keystrokes later, and iTunes was downloading my song!!!
    Joy!!! My iPod is back working again!!! I lost the information that was on it (mostly backup files, a few small things I need), but it was worth NOT HAVING A DOORSTOP!!!
    So, if you have a nice, expensive hand warmer, try plugging it into a PC! First, download the iPod Updater. Then, reformat the iPod. Lastly, restore the iPod with the newly downloaded software. You are good to go!
    There are two things I want to say:
    First: I know that with everything that was going on, I might have missed a few steps or moved a few things around, but the story as a whole is true.
    Secondly: I claim no responsibility to my above claims. If this doesn't work for you, don't come crying to me (feel free to say that it didn't work, but NO WHINING!)
    Matthew

    OK, so on your new computer, are you logged on with the same iTunes logon that you had on the old computer? If so, then you can go into the iTunes Store on that computer, and re-select each of the songs or albums you had previously purchased (one at at time). Be sure to select the exact same song or album (for instance, if a particular song is available on two different albums, or by itself, be sure that you select the same place you originally selected that song from). Then select the "Buy" button. It will ask for your AppleID password - key it in and press Enter.
    iTunes should come back to you and say "You have already purchased this song. Do you want to download it again for free?" Say yes, and it will download your previously purchased song to your new iTunes Library. Once it is downloaded, sync your iPod, and you should be all set!
    Note: if it says are you sure you want to purchase it - then you have either selected the wrong "version" of the song/album or have not signed on with the AppleID originally used to purchase that song/album.
    Hope this helps!
    Cheers,

  • Whento sleep or to shut down the MBA ....

    Well It´s impressive how fast the mba vomes from sleep but what is the main rule.
    1- In a static place just sleep the MBA?
    2- When need to transport, even for a short walk is better to shut down?,
    And what ´s best for the battery, use the MBA until the battry is almost 0, or charge it very often?
    Thanks

    Obviously, you'll need to restart your computer after certain downloads (actually, those are now mostly automatic--the latest downloads from Apple almost always restart the computer for you), after you repair permissions should you decide or need to do that and....
    Well. That's about it. You can pretty much leave your beauty on 24/7.
    Apple's dream was to create computers that never have to be shut down and they've made it a reality, especially with this new MBA which comes out of sleep in a blink. Awesome! Frankly, I can't remember the last Apple Laptop I owned which regularly got shut down. I'd put them to sleep, slip them in and out of computer bags, take them hither and yon, and open them up to get right back to work--and those were regular hard drives, not SSD. I never had a single problem.
    In fact, I can only think of two instances where I might shut my lovely little MBA down--and I fully admit that these are left-overs from the spinning hard-drive days and might, with the MBA, be a matter of pure superstition on my part First, if I was leaving the computer behind for a few weeks. It's just a matter of putting it into storage and preserving the battery. Second, if I was going through Airport Security. If the MBA was only asleep, I'd worry that it might accidentally get opened and whatever I had on the screen would be viewed by other travelers or security.
    And it just feels safer to me to have it shut off while going through security, but, as I said, that's probably just an old habit from spinning hard drive days. As I recall, Airport Security (U.S.) doesn't even require removal of the 11.6" from the bag, so it's probably safe sound asleep and secure in its bag.

  • New iTouch and new computer

    I got a new laptop just before Christmas. All my music was backed up to an external hard drive. I got an iTouch for my birthday and tried to download the music files from the hard drive. I thought it had as they all were on my iTunes. However when I click on a song it says it can't be opened because the original file could not be found. It then will only locate it if the laptop is connected to the external hard drive. I am having to "locate" each individual song. Is there an easier way to do this? I fully admit I am not a techno wiz just a nurse who knows just a little about computers.

    Am I right in thinking that you want your songs to stay on your laptop?
    If so, select preferences (either under file, or tools, I can't remember on windows version of itunes)
    Select advanced
    Tick 'copy files to itunes music folder when copying'
    Tick 'keep itunes folder organised'
    This will ensure that your music is stored locally.
    Of course, you may want to delete the music in itunes first or you'll end up with duplicated music

  • Deleting Extra iPhoto Libraries

    I have 3 libraries in iphoto 11 (2011 photos; photos and photos (default).  I want to get rid of the two libraries that are "2011 photos" and "photos".  I have searched on what to do and keep coming up with the following:
    Go into Finder and delete the libraries you don't want and then use Finder to empty the trash.
    The thing is, when I go into Finder - I don't show 3 separate libraries with those titles -- I just show "iPhoto 11"  and if I click on it, it opens the program.
    I fully admit to be a total mac newbie, so what am I doing wrong...or am I looking in the wrong spot??
    Help please

    This is the window that Larry's referring to:
    Either click on the library you want to open or use the Coose button and navibate to the library you want to use and select it. The first method is much easier and quicker.
