I get a message in a box on my desk top saying "/Volumes'/Data/Don's MacBook Pro.sparsebundle" is alreadyin use. What does this mean, and what should I do because of it if anything?
You should do a restart. That often fixes such problems.
AND You should tell:
System preferences > Spotlight > Privacy ...
not to index the backup drive (it does a special index already).
Does that message mean you are NOT keeping your backups on a separate drive? Backuops should be on a drive with nothing else.

Hi folks - I didn't see my issue answered here, so I thought I would just toss it out there in case anyone had advice.

Thoughts?Look on the right hand side .. more like this.. I am surprised you can have missed it.. we get about 10 requests a day now to fix it.. especially since Mountain Lion has made it 10x worse.

Can anyone tell me what "The backup disk image"/Volumes/Data/Sue's MacBook Pro.sparsebundle is in use mean when it comes to using my Time Machine. How do I solve this blip in the back-up process?
The TM backup has not properly dismounted the drive on the last backup or has lost connection in some way.
It is a common problem.. the most common in this discussion area.. look at the right hand "More Like This" column for multiple similar threads.
Solution is simple.. some sort of restart is needed of the TC.. you can do this via the airport utility or just pull the power, count to 10 and power it on again.

It means that there are bugs in Lion and Mountain Lion.
Pull the power cord from the back of the Time Capsule
Count to 10
Plug the power cord back in to the back of the Time Capsule
This simple reset will fix the issue about 98% of the time. If you are in the 2% category, you will need more "fixes"

You have two different issues. One is a problem with your printer and one is a Time Machine problem. You'll need to contact your printer support to find out why your printer is not working.

I am trying to back up my Macbook Pro to a time capsule attached to my iMac. When I first installed the Time Capsule, all backups went well.Reboot the TC.. it has got lost.. or reboot the whole network.. restart in correct order. .modem router.. TC.. clients.
It suddenly will reappear.. you might need to reboot it again in a few days. .such is apple software today.
