I got my iPad replaced as a "repair" yesterday, but now I'm wondering if I can exchange this new one for a new iPad 2?
Can I get an exchange for my new replacement of an iPad generation 1 for a new iPad 2? What has happened was that my iPad screen went really weird, so the store gave me an exchange even though it was no longer under warrante for the same generation iPad for half price. But now I'm wondering if I can get a new iPad 2 and have the money I paid for this new iPad 1 go towards the new iPad 2. I did this all yesterday. Any ideas?
Take it back and give it a try,If you are going to pay full price for a new iPad 2 minus what you paid for you the repaired iPad I would think that's a win win.

I took my iMac 2010 to a "Third Party" company to replace my hdd, they did, but now it will not boot. if i took this to the Apple store, how much would it cost to fix? if i buy my own SSD (£70) Thanks a LOT!

Well, this "third party" is going to put my old hdd back and not charge me any money (as he did not fix it) but i think its better off taking it to an AASP because i have a feeling Apple store will charge way too much.
The way I read that comment – you seem to suggest the Mac was broken before the third party replaced the disk - is that the case or was it working before the HD was replaced?
Since the Mac is out of warranty you will have to pay for any repairs wherever you take it. Authorised Apple service centres will be able to get parts whereas any non certified technicians will have to use 'grey market' parts since Apple will not sell parts to the public. These may be reconditioned or not official parts - it's a risk to use them. Visit the Apple store & ask them - there is no point in lying about it being handled by a third party. An Apple tech may be able to tell when they open the case, depending on how meticulous your third party was.
If you are handy with a screwdriver & have tools and a lot of patience you could use a guide on iFixit.com, but there is no indication of why this Mac not booting up.
It could be that the disk is not formatted correctly.
Are you sure the tech copied an OS onto the disk? Did they install the OS for you or did they clone the old disk?
Can you boot from a backup disk or from an install disk? Does the disk appear in Disk Utility when booted from another OS (either the installer or a backup).
'Not booting' can mean so many things, what does booting do exactly? Grey screen, black screen, any noises or tones, any signs of life at all…?
If you look at the iFixit guides you will see many fiddly connectors, if the tech failed to hook them all back up it could explain the failure, or perhaps you just have a disk that is 'dead on arrival' - sometimes that happens. A properly trained technician should be able to figure that one out. -
i can not activate my ipad. it was working yesterday, but now it's locked or whatever...
Hi damjansv,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iPad is locked or cannot be activated, the steps in this article can help. The article refers to an iPhone, but the steps apply to an iPad as well:

Hi , My modem got zapped by lightning yesterday. My iMac still was able to power on when I tried it yesterday. Today the modem is replaced and internet is working, but now the computer will not power on. I followed the steps to reset SMC. Nothing. ??
Ouch, not much more you can do, I think you'll have to have it looked at.

I recently connected my new ipad to my itunes, but now itunes will not recognise my ipod classic, and 50gig of music has gone. ipad connects ok but no longer ipod which has been there for two years! help!!!
What happens when the iPod is plugged in? anything? any errors?
Why is 50GB of music gone? All music should exist on the computer. Only a fool would rely on a single device which could easily be lost or stolen to store their content on. -
Can I return my iPad2 for the new iPad
My parents bought me the new ipad2 in January and they also pay for the one year guarantee. The iPad 2 is brand new in good condition. Now, can I return my ipad2 for the new iPad without paying?
No, unless the store you bought it from has a very generous return policy - the Apple Store official policy is 14 days. The one year warranty is on defects in the product, not for upgrading. You can sell your iPad and use the funds to buy a new one, but you will likely sell for less than you paid.

Hey, I have an unopened iPad mini that I won at work and I'm wondering if there's an upgrade option where I can exchange this for an iPad mini with retina display? Thanks
Take it to an Apple store and ask. All they can do is say no. They may ask for a purchase receipt to make sure it's not stolen.

its not a question, but i just hope someone from apple can read this, i just wish you can make a card just like itunes card, for ipad wi-fi card. would be convenience.
That's why he gave you the link to make the suggestion.
But returning to your proposal ... Apple does not sell any of the "wifi" connections. It would be up to providers of service to sell giftcards, and perhaps Boingo or some of other airport-commercial WiFi firms do. I can't think of any other place I've been asked to pay for WiFi.
Now Verizon and AT&T, as well as other providers in other countries, could sell Gift Cards... and again, perhaps they do, but you'll have to check with them or make the suggestions there. It's really not an Apple issue, as they don't sell or provide any connections, just the hardware to make them. -
I have the error message "Not enough storage. Cannot backup, not enough backup space in ICloud . . . ", but now the "close" and "settings" buttons don't respond and I cant get the IPad to open so I can go change settings. What do I do?
For a "hard" restart of your iPad just press the home and power button at the same time and hold it for at least 10-15 sec. until it restarts.

Why do I have to connect my ipad(4th gen) to my laptop to download apps? I downloaded some yesterday, but now they just say waiting. If I connect to ITunes, I can get them through that. I am not using cellular data, just through wifi.
Any ideas greatly appreciated, it will save me a journey to the apple storeI have now solved it. I signed out of my iTunes account and then held down both the power buttons until the apple appeared. When I signed back in it started downloading.

Having lost my password, et al., I obtained a new one successfully, but now when I tried to make a purchase, I was asked for my Security Code. How do I obtain a new Security Code since I have lost all my iPad documentation? Thank you, Dzurek123
That refers to the 3 digit security code on the back of your credt card, not a security code for the iPad.

I keep getting a MSG that my device has not been backed up. Going thru manage iCloud I see ther are two backs (one for cell and iPad). They both say "incomplete ". If I delete them cloud backups will stop and I assume I will need to go back to the control.
Has anyone else experienced this? After deleting the backups, go back to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup and make sure iCloud Backup is set to On (if not, turn it on).
