I have a 3rd generation iPod and I cannot download or install any new apps. This started a few weeks ago. I have plenty of space, it's very frustrating not to be able to get any apps! Please help?
Please help, I cannot get any apps free or bought, I am able to update just fine and, I can use the apps I already have with no problem. But to be able to install an app. ie, new game recommended by app I already own, is impossible. A few weeks now I have been unable to get any new apps. Why is this occuring and can there be something I can do to fox this without upgrading to 4.0.
Try resetting the device.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

I have a 3rd generation IPod and the screen is black - it is fully charged and will play music but there is nothing to be seen on the screen. I have no idea how to fix this. We live in France now so any of the fixes have to be in English since I can't read French. Any advise would be greatly appreaciated. you can change the page orientation by selecting the menu item "File > Print..." then adjust the orientation in "Page Orientation" section, then click "Done" (or "Print", if you want to print).

Ipod touch won't work after installing a new app.
Hi!
Last night, I decided to install a new "Alarm clock," app and test it out by setting it to ring a minute later- what a BIG mistake, because during the time it was supposed to ring, it made my Ipod touch completely crash instead. For the past few hours all it's been doing is flashing back and forth between my homelock screen (with the "slide to unlock," bar at the bottom) and the Apple logo, with the round 'processing' image infront of it.
I have tried many different things to get it out of this funk but nothing has worked! I tried resetting the Ipod by holding down the menu and power button, the screen went black temporarily, didn't show the "slide to power off" bar and then just reloaded with the same two flashing images. I tried restoring it, but it wouldn't restore, until I did a special reboot that I read about via online boards- where you have to hold the power + menu buttons for 10 seconds, then release the power button whilst holding just the menu button for 10 seconds- but, whilst the Ipod did go through the whole restoring process thereafter, it didn't manage to sync up.
Now, not only does my ipod STILL flash back and forth between those two images. I keep getting an error message of (0xE80000001)! I used a different cable to try and sync up, but the blasted thing still won't stop flashing back and forth between those two images, and the ipod is not being recognised by itunes so the ipod keeps beeping, in and out of itunes and won't sync!
My ipod isn't 'jailbroken,' I haven't touched it's software or altered it in any way, to how it was sold to me. I would've liked to have brought it back the the Apple store to be looked at, but I don't think they'll help me because the top left hand corner of my Ipod is completely missing after my niece dropped it a few months ago- the Ipod still worked (up until I installed the **** alarm app) perfectly well until now!
Also, I have a mac, so any tips on how to access/help/fix this problem would have to have instructions for a Mac OS not Windows please!

If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

Just restore your old one. This wipes all content from the iPod and resets all of its settings back to its defaults.

Whenever I hook up my ipod I run the risk of my clock locking-up - apparently there is (or was?) a problem that crashed the User-Interface server. Has this been fixed?
I connected a 3rd gen iPod to a Power Mac G5. It has 10.5.2. Did not experience any problems. It's a 3G iPod, so it was connected via FireWire. 3G iPods were not designed to be fully compatible with USB like later models.

If you are having trouble with SMS messages, then you would need to address that with your carrier, unless you are receiving them and just not get a notification. If you have followed the steps I gave you for iMessage and you are not receiving notifications, then check the settings for Notification Center. If you have Messages set to show on the lock screen and play a sound, and display a banner, etc. then your next step is a restore. First restore from a backup, and if that doesn't work, then restore as a new device. Restoring the phone will result in the loss of all data. Make sure you have backed up the phone, synced all content and imported photos to the computer.

In the title it states you have authorized the comptuer already and it is still not allowing you to play the song.
If you right click the song that will not play - then click Get Info - in the window that appears it will show Account- Take not at what is the account name listed? Is it the same account you just authorized? Is it a friend or family members account? -

What store are you on? Most stores do not accept foreign credit card details.
