I have a 3rd generation IPod and the screen is black - it is fully charged and will play music but there is nothing to be seen on the screen. I have no idea how to fix this. We live in France now so any of the fixes have to be in English since I can't read French. Any advise would be greatly appreaciated. I looked at some of the other answers but I have no idea where the Hold button would be on this. Thanks.

have you tried charging the device ?
if so and it still does not work you can try a Forced Recovery..
by holding the HOME button down and plugging it into your computer at the same time..

Try Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

But, first step with 3GS white screen and most iPhone problems is Reset, hold both home and power buttons until iPhone begins to restart itself, usually about 10 seconds of holding both buttons. If still white screen.
Next step would be Restore the iPhone Firmware with iTunes on your computer. If still white screen.
Next step would be to follow Tim's advice, if you had not already.

FIRST charge with an Apple charger for at least 15 minutes. Then hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears. Hold for up to 30 seconds. If nothing happens the phone hardware has failed.

My Ipod nano 5th Generation has gone to a white screen. I shows absolutely nothing. When I charge it it does not show the battery charge status. When I reset it I never see the apple logo. When it is on though I can still listen to music and it scrolls through the menus. Can you tell me what is wrong and how do I fix it?

If you have not taken the iPod apart, Apple will exchange it for a refurbished one for $99. You can do it an an Apple store

My mac mini is connected to my panasonic LCD and the screen has gone blank

So here's what I did.
I plugged my old mac mini (10.4.11) to my Panasonic Viera LCD flat screen with a VGA cable. When it loaded up and i logged in i noticed the screen sizing looked odd - as in looked stetched. I then jumped into the display settings and must have clicked on of the options which for some unknown (to me anyay) reason the screen just went blank. I then cannot do anything as I cant see anything. If I turn it off and turn it back on again then its all good as before untill I have logged in and it loads the desktop - then it goes blank again.
Any ideas?

Apple stores have a technician called a Genius. You either call the local store to make an appointment or go tothe store's webpage. The Genius will help yu troubleshoot the problem for no cost except for your time.

Hi. Anyone experienced this? My screen suddenly just went, can't see anything other than the faintest outline but in honesty its pitch black.
It was fine beforehand, hasn't been dropped but think its just outside its warranty by a couple of months. Who can I get in touch with to fix this? Is it really useless after just a year?

If the battery is not flat, try a reset.

I have a 3rd generation ipod nano. I recently upgraded to Lion which is causing lots of issues. Aside from that, I went to the Itunes store to purchase books like I have done at least 100 times before with no problems. Now I can by the book and get it to my computer, however when I tried to download the book to my 3rd generation ipod the dialog box informed me that to download any new audiobook purchases I would need an ipod touch. My ipod nano 3rd generation serves my purposes just fine. Why should I be forced to buy something I do not want just to continue something I have always done seamlessly? I know this is more of a rant than a question but I am sure someone else out there has had this happen to them. Maybe you could share your thoughts on how to work around this issue if possible?

I forgot to add the last obvious and crucial step I had taken - plugging a different iPod into my system. It was also not recognized. That was the final proof I needed to determine if the problem was device or system. But now what?
