I have a complaint about a fitness band that was purchased. I need to email someone about my problem

I purchased a Misfit fitness band on 2/2/15. I put it on this morning and went to work. By the afternoon I look down at the band an noticed the band was broke and the center part was missing. I took it back to the store and showed the manager the broke band and explained to him that the center piece was missing. He told me they could only replace it if I bring the piece in. If I knew when the band broke, I would have the piece. But wearing it and it broke without my knowledge, how can I have the missing piece or even know where to start looking. I paid extra for the insurance for them to tell me I just wasted my money and time because they can't help me. I think that is just bad business and best buy let me know today that they are only about getting my money not caring that a product of theirs broke within a week of purchase. I just want to replace the fitness tracker with another, but this did not take place. I need someone to help me with my problem.

Fitness bands are a great product that I have used quite a bit. If I lost my fitness tracker, I’m sure I would be equally as upset, especially considering how new yours was to you. I would be happy to shed some light on your concerns with you Geek Squad Protection (GSP) coverage.
Based on the information you shared of this incident, it sounds like the actual tracker separated from the band and was lost during use. If this is the case, per the terms and conditions of your plan it would not be covered. “If your Covered Product was lost or stolen (this Plan only covers Covered Products returned to us in their entirety)”. If I am misunderstanding your situation, please let me know so I may look into this for you further. Additionally, you should be able to visit the store to return your GSP for a pro-rated refund.

    You can't install 9.2.1 or earlier on any Mac that is only Mac OS X bootable. In fact you need to use the restore disks which came with those Macs to install 9.2.2 on those Macs. 8.6 is only possible to install on Macs which came with 8.6 or earlier. The 9.1 disk may be useful for your 1999 PowerMac G4, but won't be of any use for a 2006 Powerbook G4.

The system preferences are set to "Never" for Computer sleep and Display sleep. The computer does not ordinarily log off automatically, but it has done this twice since I started the Time Machine backup.

    If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    Enter the word "Starting" (without the quotes) in the String Matching text field. You should now see log messages with the words "Starting * backup," where * represents any of the words "automatic," "manual," or "standard." Note the timestamp of the last such message. Clear the text field and scroll back in the log to that time. Select the messages timestamped from then until the end of the backup, or the end of the log if that's not clear. Copy them (command-C) to the Clipboard. Paste (command-V) into a reply to this message.
    If all you see are messages that contain the word "Starting," you didn't clear the search box.
    If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don't post many repetitions of the same message.
    When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

    Sorry, but as KP guessed, Apple will not exchange the card, and you are correct that you can't use a US iTunes card in Canada. You will need to give or sell it to someone in the US.

    Please contact the Apple Support folks directly for issues related to hardware and software purchases.
    The particular model of MacBook Pro is a key detail here, as the Mac model will determine the oldest version it can boot, as well as whether it'll boot more current software.
    AFAIK there is and was no Lion installer DVD available.  It was a download.  AFAIK, the last DVDs commonly available were for Snow Leopard 10.6.  Snow Leopard DVDs are still available in the Apple online store in various countries, if your MacBook Pro is old enough to be able to boot that version.
    If your MacBook Pro purchase with Lion wasn't registered with Apple, then you'll have to discuss this directly with the Apple Support folks, or repurchase Lion from the Mac App Store (which will usually involve a call to Apple for a redemption code as it's old software), or you'll "purchase" (it's free) Mavericks OS X 10.9 and wipe and install that assuming your MacBook Pro supports Mavericks.  If you didn't purchase the MacBook Pro from Apple (and it was shipped with an older release), then you'll end up acquiring a redemption code from Apple for Lion, or installing Mavericks.
    For completeness and given you're probably already aware of this, the usual approach for restoration with recent OS X versions is via the recovery boot (more details).  If the disk is wiped and you can't get Lion, then you'll probably end up reinstalling with Target Disk Mode using another Mac with a compatible FireWire or Thunderbolt port and a cable.  Or visit the local Apple Store.
    sputniki: Once OS X 10.7 or 10.9 has been reinstalled, yes, getting Time Machine configured and going is undoubtedly on the agenda.  But had there been a viable backup here, I expect jianghua would have used it.

    I have just changed over from a computer that was 11 years old, running Windows 98, to a new computer running Windows XP. With my old computer I could easily download video clips, they would open and play as soon as the download had ended. Now I have to click on the download box and click on "Play". Also, when I wanted to keep a clip, I just right clicked and a menu appeared and I would then click on "Save as" or similar. Now there doesn't appear to be any way to save the clips. Apart from a faster and more powerful computer I feel I've gone backwards. Can anyone help?

    Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
    This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

  • How do I create a URL to filter a view when the value I have from list one is the ID that was used by list 2 to pull in the list 1 title?

    My list "Tasks" has an record with Title = "Build SSIS for Duke Energy" and its ID is 1. Then I have a list "Journal" where I have tracked entries related to the progress of the task. When I create the Journal entries I passed
    in the ID of the task 1 which then pulled the title into the Journal's Associated task lookup column. Now I'd like to have a column in the Tasks list that would have a URL to take me to all journal entries related to the Task. But passing in the ID 1 of the
    task does not work. 
    If the lookup column has the actual Title from the task in all the time and it is not dynamically pulled every time the list is queried shouldn't I be able to filter on the Title e.g. "Build
    SSIS for Duke Energy"  

    I ended up going with a workflow to build the URL and sending the title to the look-up column. 
    I tried the script at that site and ran into several problems. It didn't work with views that were grouped, the calculated links did not show on the edit and view forms. I assume those forms would have to be changed to run the script also.
    In addition to, I have to add a CEWP to each view and I was also losing the "Items" and "List" options (next to "Browse") from the ribbon until I clicked around in the list. 
    What are the downfalls of a workflow? I ask because many people default to using a similar TextToHTML script like you mentioned.

    On itunes open the store tab and click manage accout, once your in there should be a settings tab called devices, remove the old computer and then try to authorize yours under the store tab in itunes.

    If you have a PC, Control S brings back that familiar side bar on the left side. That might help.  I'm also going to askt he hosts to relocated this post in the iPod forum. This is the iPad part and you may get more device specific info there.

    Some of those applications you mention will not be on the recently purchased OS 10.3 Panther disk so you'll need to make a copy of them so you can restore them later.
    Copy to your external drive;
    iPhoto, iMovie, iTunes* and you may also have World Book 2003 depending what bonus software was installed when new. There may be other Non Apple applications you want to keep also.
    *You could probably still get a download of iTunes but because it is such an old version, to save searching for it, make a copy of it while it is in front of you.
    Everything else will be the 10.3 Panther disk including Safari.
    Ideally with original disks, the process would be:
    Insert your Install disk 1 into the drive and then Restart, and hold down the C key to take you to the installation windows.
    Select your language, the start up Disk and choose Erase and Install.
    At the point your registration process starts, abandon the registration, quit and eject the disk and switch of the computer.
    This will allow the new user a freshly installed system, whereby they can complete the registration process themselves.
    However...
    But as you want to add back iPhoto and iMovie etc, you'll proceed to create an Admin account, in order to add back those applications, by copying them from the external drive back to the Applications folder. After doing that you are finished.
    Instruct the new user can create their own Admin account, (more than one can exist) and thereafter deleting the first one you created.
    This would achieve a fresh setup akin to the original.
