I have a magic mouse that needs a usb receiver.  what do I buy?  Is it specific to mac?

I have a magic mouse that needs a usb receiver.  is this a specific mac part or does a universal work?

I suspect you do not have a Magic Mouse.   The Magic Mouse is an Apple product and does not need a USB receiver.   I guess you have a Logitech mouse and a USB receiver should have been supplied to you by the store you bought it from, if it was indeed bought from a store.
You could always contact the manufacturer.

    Well
I tried all of the suggestions, sort of. I did not have alcohol wipes, but I did take alcohol and pour some ona white paper towel and then rolled the mouse touch ball aroound and that finally cleared up the problem.  Just inverting it on paper did not do the reick, it needed some help with the alcohol.  Of course the probelm is the debris that gets inside and it really needs to come out.
This is a huge problem for RIM devices users too.

  • Magic mouse rails need replacing

Can you get replacement parts for the magic mouse black raild which are found on the bottom of the mouse ?
I have two magic mouses and they are both now playing up which I think is due to the fact that they are both starting to wear on the bottoms ?

Theoretically they can be replaced, but it involves dismantling the mouse which is glued together and voiding the warranty

  • Is Acrobat Pro right for us. We have an Employee Handbook that needs editing. Some is current pdf, some from an older version. Want to get all into one handbook, have the table of contents automatically adjust and link to specific pages from the ToC.

You can download the trial version (http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html) to convert the PDF back to WORD if you do not have the original. The conversion may not be perfect, but it is typically better than starting from scratch. You may be lucky and get a good result. You might check the settings (in the save screen) to try retain format versus retain text flow. The format version can be a pain to edit since it creates a bunch of text boxes. The flow version may require you to reformat in WORD, but you likely would want to do that anyway.

  • Hi i have an iphone 4 that needs to be updated but my phone is using the cellular company simple mobile via gsm chip and my phone isnt jailbroken will this mess up my phone.

hi i have an iphone 4 that needs to be updated but my phone is using the cellular company simple mobile via gsm chip and my phone isnt jailbroken will this mess up my phone.

If your iPhone is truly unlocked - purchased as unlocked through Apple
or through wireless provider that sells unlocked iPhones or unlocked
by a wireless provider, then the update should not mess up your iPhone.
If your iPhone was jailbroken or hacked to change wireless providers,
then the update will relock it to the original wireless provider if you are lucky
or turn it into a useless brick if unlucky.
Back up first to protect against glitches or other problems.

  • I have an excel spreadsheet that needs to be transferred from a PC computer to my imac.  I downloaded the numbers program, but when I transferred the spreadsheet using numbers, it didn't appear the same.  Do I need to buy the mac office software?

I have an excel spreadsheet that needs to be transferred from a PC to my imac.  I downloaded the numbers app, but the spreadsheet isn't appearing like the original in the numbers program.  Drop boxes aren't working the same and things are moved around.  Will I need to now purchase the mac office software or will I still have the same problem?

More compatible are OpenOffice or NeoOffice.  Also if you are using a PowerPC Mac you may not be able to use the most recent Office anyway.    Make sure the version of Office you get is compatible with your Mac.  PPC indicates PowerPC, which was only found on Macs early 2006 and older.  Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac to determine which CPU is on your Mac.  If it says G3, G4, or G5 it is PowerPC.  If it says Intel Core you can upgrade to Snow Leopard minimum and possibly the latest Office, if it says Intel Core2Duo (with the 2 in the middle)  or Core i with some number you may be able to upgrade to Lion, but certainly no trouble wiht the latest Office.

I  have a iphone 3gs that needs to be backed up and I have a new computer

You can backup only your settings, messages, recent calls, apps and Camera Roll in your new iTunes.
Your photo albums and music has to be on your computer to sync them back to your iPhone.

  • Hello, I have un Ipod classic of 160GB. On my itunes it displays that I have 113gb of other that occupies my memories! what is this other and how I get rid of it?

Hello, I have un Ipod classic of 160GB. On my itunes it displays that I have 113gb of other that occupies my memories! what is this other and how I get rid of it?

"Other" is the measure of used space on the iPod not taken up by Audio, Video & Photos. This includes the iPod's library and artwork plus any files you may have copied to your iPod in disk mode. The overhead for the library & artwork data is typically 1-2% of the size of the media, e.g. for 1Gb of Audio & Video expect to have around 15mb of "Other". This information is needed for the iPod's operation and cannot be removed.
If you have significantly larger amounts of "Other", not related to files you've intentionally placed on the iPod, then these are probably disconnected copies of your media files or iPod libraries left over from failed sync operations. The only way to recover the space is to do a full restore.
If you have copies of all your media in your iTunes library this isn't a problem, but if you've been manually managing the content then you might need to try to recover the files from it first. See this post by forum regular Zevoneer on transferring files from the iPod to your computer. Some of the tools rely on the iPod having a healthy library however the manual method mentioned towards the end of the post should work regardless.

  • Magic mouse that won't scroll

Hi, I have got a new magic mouse but it does not scroll, the scrolling feature does not show in mouse preferences, it only shows tracking speed and double-click speed. In Bluetooth preferences it says the mouse is connected and paired, but in Keyboard & Mouse Bluetooth preferences the keyboard name is there and it shows the battery level, but shows no name or battery level for the mouse.  Please can anyone help? Thank you. x

If you're on 10.5.8 as your profile indicates then you need this update for Magic Mouse support.

  • Dropped Magic Mouse now needs excessive force to click.

Help!  I recently dropped my magic mouse about 4 feet onto a tile floor. When I picked up the mouse, I noticed that the top and bottom had become a bit separated.  I was able to push things back together, but now it takes considerably more force to right or left click.  There doesn't seem to be a physical obstruction to the click, it just takes a firmer click in order for the computer to recognize it.  The situation is the same whether I use the mouse with my MB Pro or my Mac Pro at work.  There is no problem connecting through bluetooth or using any of the scrolling/swiping gestures.  Only clicking has been affected.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

I figured as much.  What I was REALLY searching for was someone who might have suffered a similar mishap and been able to get their mouse working again.  I don't normally go around tossing my Mac peripherals onto the floor, especially not a $70 mouse.
Still crummy engineering.  I've dropped an ipad and my iphone several times (by mistake I might add), and they've both come up without a scratch. This thing popped open like a steamed clam.
Thanks for the attempt at humor.

  • Just installed OSX Mavericks.Bluetooth disappeared from menu bar and system preferences. I have a magic mouse and my IMac no long recognizes it as such, nor can I scroll with it. What's wrong?

Just installed OSX Mavericks. Bluetooth disappeared from menu bar and system preferences panel. I use a Magic Mouse but my iMac no longer recognizes it as such, and I can no longer use it to scroll screen. What happened?

Since Mavricks installed: My Spotlight icon disappears from the menu bar, but the space stays there. If I click on the blank space where the
spotlight icon is supposed to be - the spotlight menu opens. So, for me, the icon is there, it works except that it is invisible at times. IF I do a re-start it is there. If I let the computer set, sleep or other wise stay on for days, the icon will hide and re-appear at random.
