I have a timecapsule, plugged into router and followed instructions. Firtly, it always flashes amber, secondly when accessing on imac it is asking for a password when i go to prefernces. nothing works and very disappointed how much time wasting in settin

I recently purchased the 2TB time capsule. expecting it to work like all of my other apple products. No chance. I have plugged into router and switched on. amber light just flashes away....
Opening Airport utility and it does see the time capsule, again with a flashing amber light next to it and a number 2 to the right, in red. when i click on it it asks for a password!!! no idea what password it is asking for, tried the network key, tried admin password, tried trusted etc.....
What is going wrong as online help and instructions do not provide any guidance.
thx

I recommend you do a fully isolated setup. Especially if you are using wireless.
Plug the TC into the computer by ethernet. Make sure it is LAN port marked <->.
Open the utility. It should not need a password now to access.. if it does, do a full factory reset.
This is done by holding in reset.. then power on the TC and wait for about 10 sec.. never releasing the reset.. front LED flashes rapidly.. then release the reset.. and wait for the TC to reboot.
In the airport utility select bridge mode under networking.
Go to the wireless page and setup wireless as you prefer.
Update the TC.. disconnect from the computer and plug it back by ethernet into the router.

My apple tv stuck at setting date and time. Also when connecting yo network doesn't ask for network password

I just went through this last night. (Aug 15, 2013)
What I did to get back up and running. This is not the first time I have lost the network connection with my Apple TV 3
Products effected: Apple TV 3 and Home Sharing (My Apple TV 1 was not effected)
Power down (unplug) the Apple TV and power down your router ( in my case, it is a FIOS router, flipping the on/off works fine).
    Power both items back up.
At this point, I usually can reenter my Apple ID and PW. and reconnect Home Sharing.  But for some reason I was unable to reconnect last night but was able to get it reconnected in the morning. I was jut to tired to deal with it last night.
A new issue that is was able to fix after a good nights sleep.
I did figure out, (after trying to reenter my ID and PW many times and having it tell me that my ID and PW was wrong), that when using the Apple TV on screen keypad to type in the user ID. DO NOT use the ".com" keypad button. Instead type out each character for .com. ( or what ever ending you use for your ID account.)
Once I typed out my full ID and PW. everything is back to 100%

FYI this is the legitimate Flash Player installer:
    This one is bogus:
As X423424X wrote do not download it from any site other than the one he linked.
Adobe does not require a password to download the Flash installer. Generally speaking passwords are not required to download software, unless you must register with the website so as to log in. In that case you should never use the same name and password you use to administer your Mac.

That is your mail account (or one of them anyway) and you need to get it from your Exchange administrator.

I assume that you meant that you reset the password three times. Did you receive any verification that the new password was accepted?
Sign out of you account, restart the iPad and sign in again. Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap the ID and sign out.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in again.

I was already using 10.7. But only had the disc for 10.6.

Sorry I am new to this. Am I in the right area? I am using my iPhone to make contact. I am worried.

My mac keeps asking for a password when I try to install adobe flash player. Even with the hint I'm not getting it and also tried uninstall and the same thing occurred.

It's referring to the MAC password that you have setup.
A software prompts for a password only when there are restrictions set on the user account for unauthorised access to system files and folders.

You should change your AppleID password NOW. And if it says it was registered under another AppleID, the thief has probably done it.

  • Why am I asked for a password when trying to use about;config, where is the password set and can I change/delete this?

I tried to use about:config, but I was asked for a password. I don't remember entering a password and have never used the master password function. Where has this come from, and how can I change the password or get rid of the need for a password?

  • Asking for my password when I try and delete a file

I have a few files that I can't seem to delete without the computer asking for my password. When I try and delete them, it shows this message:
    Authenticate
Finder requires that you type your password
Then the window has fields for my name and password. Under the Details arrow it says this:
    Requested right: com.apple.desktopservices
    Application: /System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app
I'm not happy with having to provide my password just to delete a file. And not all files produce this result. Why does it do this?
    Cheers,
    Tina

Select the folder containing the file in the Finder and choose Get Info from the File menu; if the file is on the desktop, click on the desktop so that no icon is selected. Under Ownership & Permissions, change the settings so you have Read & Write access to the folder. This should not be done in system-level folders.
You will be asked to enter your password when you try to delete the file in the following circumstances:
    1. If the folder you're deleting the file from is set not to allow you write access. This is the most common case.
    2. If the folder containing the file has the Locked checkbox set. This cannot be turned on or off in the Finder in versions of Mac OS X older than 10.4. If this was the case, you would be told that you didn't have permission to delete the file even after entering your password.
    3. If the enclosing folder has the sticky bit set and neither the file nor the enclosing folder are owned by your account. No item in your home folder should have the sticky bit set, but other parts of the hard disk(such as /Users/Shared/ and the hard disk itself) do.

  • Why does my Mac ask for my password when I try to make a change on my external hard drive with Time Machine?

I recently formatted the hard drive to do a fresh install of Mavericks on my Macbook Pro Retina. I then formatted my Western Digital 2 TB External Hard Drive for Time Machine. I then began storing others files and folders on the external hard drive along side the TIme Machine Backup folder. Everytime I added a folder or changed a foler name it asked for my password.
This has never happened to me before using any other OSX.
I apologize if this has been resolved before, I'm new to the communities and have yet to find a solution.

It is not a good idea to be storing other Stuff on your Time Machine drive. You may need an additional separate hard drive for those things.
Once you tell Time Machine to use a Drive, Time Machine owns the Drive. You (as a User) do not have permission to put things there. If you insist, it will do it, but wants your Admin password to do it.

  • When attempting to reset my password using the Install disc, I can't get into the system since I am asked for my password when I initiate the disc.  What now?

I lost my MAC password and was advised to use the "MAC" install disc.  With the "install disc" installed, I initiate the program and it asks for my "password" to continue.  What do I do now since I am unable to offer the correct password.  Sure would like to discuss this with a computer expert.  I am really frustrated since I can't update programs due to the lost password?

First, make sure caps lock is not on.
If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise, boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
    from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
That's one word with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but your Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it.

    Hey there hannahc-,
I would recommend trying the iPod Nano 5r's to see if you can get that iPod acting correctly.
Choose the iPod Nano generation you have and follow the instructions for it:
