I have about 50GB of free storage according to About this Mac, but when I try to download anything, I get a notice that there's no room.
Storage says there's 46.34GB free but when I try to download things, I'm apparently at capacity. I'm erasing the free space now in the hopes that that helps, but there is still the problem of 66.75GB of "other" listed in storage that I want to take care of. Any help is appreciated!
Chris , thanks for the prompt reply. The dvd was produced by a third party that I found on line . I had a number of old mini digital video cassettes from a Sony Handycam. I can play the DVD's on my laptop but I can't edit them on iMovies to delete a lot of the rubbish on them. I have five DVD's and three downloaded without any problem but the last two are according to iMovies non importable.

While downloading a book from iTunes, my internet service was interrupted and i didn't get the entire book. Now when i try to download it, i get the message that i already have downloaded it. It hit the download button in the purchased section, and nada! How can i re-download the book?

Try this:
Open your iBooks app on your iPad
Select the Store Button at the top
Select Purchased at the bottom
You will see your AppleID on the right at the bottom, then Redeem, then Support
Click on your Apple ID, and when the AppleID window comes up with the options, Sign Out
Then Sign In again and try redownloading your book

i have problem in mac store when i try to download app i get note (( app failed to download use the purchases page to try again ))
i try to downlod twitter and ccleaner but i can't open the app ?!?!!!It can also be an iTunes issue. Many of us, including myself, are not used to the new interface of iTunes 11 and would find ways to downgrade the available iTunes 11 back to iTunes 10.7 in Mac OS Mavericks. The only issue with downgrading (using AppZapper and Pacifist) is that you will not be able to update/install apps from the App Store after rebooting the Mac.
If you happen to have downgraded your iTunes in this method, then uninstall the iTunes 10.7 and reinstall iTunes 11 again - the App Store should resume its download/update function without any issue.

The new update for my computer is ready to be installed. When I try and install it, I get a message that my start up disc is full and does not have enough room. I have tried every avenue I can think with no resolve, of course, I am not a computer genious. Can anyone at all help? Thank you so much.
You need to discard or save to an external disk and then discard some of the stuff we all tend to keep forever (movies, music, pictures, docs, apps no longer used, etc.). A clogged up disk also does not function ideally either.

I used to have my old work e mail address as my Apple ID but have now changed it to my new one, had all of the verification e mails and everything. However, when I try to download or update my apps, my original ID comes up and I can't log in. Can't remember my original passowrd and can't have a reminder sent to the original e mail as it no longer exists..... help!
Any content is tied to the account that you used to buy/download it - so if you created a new account as opposed to updating the existing one, then you will need to use the old account to download updates to its apps. Can you not update your old account so as to have a new email address on it (e.g. via this page) ?

Every time I want to open a document created in an older version of Pages, I have to right click and select "Open with Pages (default) (5.2). Then it will open but when I close it it is still the old version. I want to be able to simply double click the document I want and have it open. How can I make those older documents into v. 5.2? Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you.
You are opening the old Pages version by mistake. This version is kept after installing the most recent Pages version in case you want to use it again, and I recommend you not to delete it.
I recommend you to put the new Pages version in a place where you can open it easily, for example, in the Dock. The only thing you have to do is to go to Applications folder (open a Finder window and choose Applications in the sidebar), and drag Pages to the Dock. The new Pages version has got this icon:
After putting Pages in the Dock, open it and access to all your documents. They will be converted to Pages 5.2 format if they were not opened with Pages 5.2 before. -
When I try downloading itunes it stops with a message that says the mobile service can not start because I may not have enough privileges. What do I need to reset?

This sounds like a possible permissions issue. Try these steps. Uninstall iTunes and all of it's components. Next, download the newest version of iTunes and save it to your desktop rather than selecting run. Right click on the installer package and run as administrator. Thank you.It's referring to another application that is running on your PC. Temporarily disable any A/V software you have running on the system and try to restore it again. Make sure you don't have any other software/programs on your PC that could be scanning or interfering with the restore process.

I really do not know what details you want. When I press on the icon to open Firefox, it opens and Google appears. I go to my bookmarks to my purchasing file. There I click on my bookmarked "Quality Paperbacks" site. I get a big colorful page with a statement that I need to update Firefox. I have followed the directions to update on several different occasions. It appears to download but the next time I try, I get the same thing.

You are on the 3.6 release and Firefox 7.0.1 is out. You can download and install the latest release from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ if you would like to update now. The 3.6 version will be maintained for a while longer, but you should update when you can. -

Troubleshooting a start up script can be difficult. There are some third party programs that also keep logs of start up programs, however for Firefox this may be different.

In the control panel there is also Administrative tools to view event logs, but this may be something a local technician can walk you through. -

I always do my Rentals with the itunes program on the computer.
Make rental from itunes store. It will show in movies under library, DO NOT click to play it. Plug in the device to the computer. Click the name of the device on left. Click on movies. There is an option to copy to the device. Sync. obviously you still need space on ipad to put rental but you can have it take computers hard drive space until you need it.
