I have Adobe Reader 8, I was offered to download Adobe Reader 9

I had several documents on my Adobe Reader 8 Program, when I went to open a document, it was not there. There are several other files/documents that I had stored on Adobe Reader 8 which I can not access anymore. I am very confused, I don't know where my document went & why I can't open the other programs? The thing with the Adobe Reader 9 is that there is an end user license. I'm just not sure what all of that means. I would like to use the Adobe Reader 8 Program to download books to read, now I don't know how I could do that? Could anyone give me some advice? Thank-you. I do hope that I made this understandable.

My question about not been able to open other programs arises from this remark in your opening message:
"I don't know where my document went & why I can't open the other programs?"
In any case, with the little information you give, I seem to understand that you can see icons of your missing files where they used to be, but you cannot open them with Reader. Could you describe exactly what happens if you double click on one of these files? And if I am not understanding you, please try to explain in detail what your problem really is...

If a PDF file is password protected, the only way to open that document is with the password. You will have to get that password from the person who created the PDF.

You can do this by uploading the PDF to https://cloud.acrobat.com and then using Send to create an Anonymous link. You can then distribute this link by posting it on your website or sending it out in email or however you would like. Anyone with the link will be able to view and dowload the PDF.

I cannot print off certificates that I need all it does when I attempt to print the certificate is that it shows that it is loading and comes back and tells me there was an error in loading the information. How do I select two-sided printing now that I have Adobe Reader? I didn't know it would change my print function at all and am curious why it does. My HP printer always did this and on the old screen there was a check off box for two-sided printing. Thank you!

I would also recommend checking the installation logs for the updates you are attempting to apply for errors. Please do a forum search. I and others have repeatedly answered this question a whole bunch of times recently.
Bottom line: the Adobe auto updater is utterly useless in CS5 and prior versions. You need to download the updates and apply them manually yourself.
I and others have even supplied the links for Mac and Win, which you haven't even bothered to specify.

I followed the FAQ troubleshooting and that didn't help

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

I was able to convert it to a Word document and then save, but I should not have to do that.

Did you try a Save As? What OS? Have you updated Acrobat?
Another alternative is to print to a new PDF. That is probably a better work flow than going to WORD and back.

I have adobe reader pro 9 and was trying to convert a pdf to powerpoint document. I was able to purchase the pdf export so that I can convert pdf to excel and word documents, but I need to be able to do the same thing to a pdf to powerpoint.
Any help please?

Three things to try...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself? If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html
