I have an Apple ID and downloaded Icloud control panel for PC. EVERYTIME I try to sign in, I get message that says "Cannot Sign Up. This Apple ID is valid but is not an icloud account." Help!!!!
How the heck to I establish an ICloud account? I've downloaded the Control Panel twice and still cannot get past sign-in. I get a message that says that my Apple ID is valid but is not an ICloud account. I thought my Apple ID was supposed to get me into Icloud to share streamed photos... doesn't it? What do I do now?
To use iCloud, you must first set it up on an iOS device or a Mac.

ICloud Control Panel for PC Syncing with Outlook 64bit Contacts & Calender Issues
Ok I have searched and searched and tried the couple of answers that worked for some people.
I can't sync my contacts and calenders/tasks via the iCloud Control Panel for PC in my Outlook 2010 64bit.
I get the error in the qoute below, I copied and pasted from the report option.
These are the answers I have tried:
Reboot in Safe Mode and tried syncing. To avoid the running ofosppsvc "Office Software Protection Platform"
Uninstalling and Reinstalling iCloud Control Panel for PC. Because I installed it before I installed Outlook 2010
Ran SCANPST on all my Outlook PST Files.
I can sync the Mail but not the other two.
Also below are my system specs

I have uninstalled all the 64bit office applications and installed the 32bit versions. It seems 32bit worked better in the past.
Well I can get my mail but when I try contracts and calender/task it crashes. Here is the updated Error Report:

I have downloaded icloud to my pc, however when i go to sign in to Apple through icloud, i get an error message saying my apple ID is valid but is not an icloud account. What does this mean and how can i update my account so i can access icloud?!

ThanksIt is not possible to create a new iCloud account using a Windows machine. You must create the account using a Mac (10.7.5 or more) or an IOS device (iPhone etc). Once that is done you can sign into and use the account on your Windows machine.

You must initiallly activate iCloud from an IOS device or a Mac. You cannot inititally activated from a PC.

To repeat my question, Apple offered to install iCloud, and I allowed it. Yet when I try to sign in to iCloud using my Apple ID email and pswrd--an ID that I've been using for YEARS--I'm given the message, "This Apple ID is valid but is not an iCloud account." What is going on?
Everywhere I search on Apple's Support site says to sign in to iCloud using your "Apple ID," which I did. I've had my iTunes account for years (even migrated from the old AOL account system). It's the standard email+password that everyone is supposed to use.
My main question is how can I have a valid Apple ID and not an iCloud account--if the two are supposed to be linked?

tljI've tried both. First, I tried on my pc, where iTunes had installed iCloud when it last updated. I have iTunes installed on this computer (and on my iPad and iPhone), but that wasn't the issue.
So I went online, thinking I needed a separate iCloud Apple ID, but it prompted me for my current Apple ID and gave me the message about my ID being "valid" but not an iCloud account," which, lol, was what it had asked me to do in order to create one. You are getting this message because you are attempting to create an iCloud account on a PC. You can only create iCloud account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) running iOS 5 or higher, or on a Mac running OS X Lion (10.7.2) or higher. After creating your account on one of these devices you will then be able to sign into the account on your PC.

You can not create an iCloud account using a PC, set the account up on a Mac or an iPhone/iPad, then you will be able to sign into it on your PC.

I have the same problem and unfortunately the only way to get an iCloud ID is to set one up on an Apple device that uses the Apple OS opperating system. If you don't own one, or can't qfford one, then you are simply shut out of using the iCloud. Does it suck? Yes. Is there any solution other than buying an Apple device? No.

I've successfully upgraded three Macs and my iPhone to 10.7.2/Build 11C74 today, moved my MobileMe account to iCloud, and moved two of the Macs and the iPhone to iCloud. However, my MacBook Air keeps giving me the error "Apple ID is valid but is not an iCloud account" when I attempt to move it to iCloud. I've tried a test account on this Mac with the same results.
The Apple servers are confirming my Apple ID credentials, but won't allow me to set up iCloud on this MacBook Air. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I'm hoping it's just a server validation issue this evening that will be resolved in the morning, but for now I'm stumped.I am having the same issue. Set up on a macbook pro, iMac, and phone, and get this error on my iMac at home. Still need to do my iPad. Also disabled my mobile me mail - said account was expired. Mobile Me in sys prefs says everythings been moved but won't let me log in to iCloud. Just woke up hoping the servers would have cleared out but same issue. I use a different Apple ID for itunes but it doesn't work with that either. Hope someone has an answer for this as the home iMac is my primary storage for my other devices. Haven't even tried wifi sync yet because of all these errors!
