I have an old iPhone that is locked

I have an old iPhone that is locked that the kids used to use to play games on.  I can't remember the password.  iTunes will not let me reset/restore this device because find my iPhone is active on this device.  I obviously can't turn it off on the device first because I don't remember the password.  I thought I would be able to restore anyway from the iTunes account and computer I have always used with it.  Any tips?

Log into iCloud.com on your computer and see if it show up there, then erase it there. Then connect to iTunes and reload a recent backup or start as new.
