I have an older i pod that used to be synched to a windows laptop, it will not synch to my macbook, I also have a iphone 4 which is fine, is it ok to have two devices synched to one laptop ?
I am trying to update my old i pod but it wont transfer the music. I realise that it used to be linked to my old windows laptop. Now I use apple mac and wondered if that was the reason?
Yes. Your iPod can only be linked with one iTunes library at a time (that is unless you manually manage your iPod's contents). So in order to sync it with the new Mac and not lose any of your existing music and content on your iPod, you'll need to copy this content from your iPod over to your Mac first.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer describing different ways to do this.
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2452022?start=0&tstart=0
Once the media is copied from your iPod to your new Mac, you can either Erase and Sync it or restore it via iTunes. From there you can sync all your old content back over to it, plus the new stuff as well.

My system is, OS Yosmite. iMac 21.5. 2.7 GHz. intel core 15. 4GB 1333 MHz.
It is showing that I have one update; I click on update and I get the ID/password drop down. that is showing my wrong ID. I have logged into apple without problems but the app store will not recognise my new Apple ID and password. I am unable to change it in the dropdown.
I have had this problem since I updated to Yosmite??
Is there something I can do to rectify this problem. I have changed my ID and password but still nothing happens.
<Email Edited By Host>Hey Chandrafromgbr,
Thanks for the question. The following resource outlines a potential resolution to this issue:
iOS 7: If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5223
3. Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't work, try these steps:
1. Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
2. Tap Settings > iCloud and try to sign out.
3. Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
4. Tap Settings > iCloud and sign in with the new Apple ID.
Thanks,

How do I install ireader 3.1.1 on my ipad 1? I have tried through the computer itunes but it says it did not install. Help?
See if the developer offers a legacy version of this app. If not, you are, unfortunately, out of luck.

I have an older I-Pod Touch. When I try to download the I-Tunes U app, it says that I need to upgrade to iOS5. How do I do this?
I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.
Identifying iPod models
iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318 -
I have a 2010 vintage 13-inch MacBook Pro that has a 60 watt power adapter. I also have an older power adapter that is 65 watts. Is it okat to use the 65 watt with this MacBook Pro?
yes.
"For instance If you have a MacBook (13-inch Late 2009) that normally uses a 60W adapter, you can also use an 85W adapter with that computer. You would not use a 45W adapter with that computer; it would not provide enough power for that MacBook. Using an adapter of higher wattage than the adapter that came with the computer will not cause the computer to charge more quickly or otherwise operate any differently than using the adapter that came with the computer. i have a old i pod that i use to used and i stop useing it for a few years and now i have a i phone and i want to put all my music on my i pod in to my iphone and it would not allow me to do so what can i do
You need to move the music from the iPod to your iTunes library on your computer then sync with the iPhone.
Assuming you have a PC you can use this: http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/home/ -
I have a Canon DC310 camcorder that uses mini dvd's and doesn't have the ability to connect to a computer. How can I get my new Imac to read these dvd's? Will the mini dvd adapter work or do I need to purchase an external dvd rom device? Which device works well with the Mac? Do I need anything else to get the dvd material onto my mac? Thanks!!
No DV port in camcorder. Just a yellow AV port/hole. I did find a Canopus ADVC110 device in a box that was bought several years ago to convert VHS tapes onto DVD's. Can I use this with a Mac? Could I connect a dvd player to the Canopus and transfer the disks onto my Mac? Or, connect the camcorder via AV port to the Canopus and that to the Mac and transfer that way? Thanks again!

My photos will not sync to my Apple TV (1st generation), ipad, iphone, or itouch. They used to be there but upon recent syncs with all devices they have all gone. I am totally baffled as I have not changed settings?
I had the same thing happen to me. It's a bug in iPhoto 9.4.2.
The first time you run iPhoto after upgrading to iPhoto 9.4.2, it "updates the iPhoto library". This sometimes tickles a bug where iTunes can see all your iPhoto albums, but iTunes thinks they are empty. Since iTunes thinks all your albums are empty, it dutifully deletes any photos from your synced iOS devices.
It's easy to tell if this is the problem you are seeing. Open iTunes and go to the photos sync panel for one of your iOS devices. If you have multiple albums checked, but iTunes shows a total of 0 photos, then you have the problem.
I spent an hour with an Apple Genius. he couldn't find any mention of this problem in their internal support system. His recomendation was to reinstall the operating the system. I suspect that this won't solve it.
The only solution I have found is to restore iPhoto 9.4.1 and the corresponding iPhoto library from your backups.
I would refrain from upgrading to iPhoto 9.4.2 until Apple has a fix for this issue. -
Itunes will not install. I get the error message "Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\com.apple.IE.client_main.dll Verify that you have access to that directory."
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards? -
I have a G drive mini and 2 LaCie hard drives that connect fine using USB. Thunderbolt to fire wire 800 adaptor will not connect to either my iMAC or Mac air or LaCie drives. Help
Have you tried any of these soundcards designed for 2.0?
The 3.0 port is categorically designed to be comoatible with all 2.0 devices. The port itself will adapt to the usage parameters of the device.
But if you really want to downgrade, then simply plug any 2.0 hub into a MBA 3.0 port. The ports on the hub will be 2.0. -
I have an older video ipod that I would like to take the songs off of and put on my new iphone. I haven't used the ipod in a few years. Is there a way to do this?
Yes. See this article from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different ways to copy content from your iPod over to your computer and into iTunes. Once you have successfully done that, you can go ahead and sync the content over to your iPhone.

I have an old I pod that was syncd with a windows computer, now i am trying to sync with my mac itunes account. We have the same i tunes account but it is saying i will lose all my songs if i sync now. Help?
I would recommend you use a program called senuti that allows you to copy your songs over to a new computer from an iPod. Unfortunatlly you have to pay for the full version but it allows you to have 1000 free song capacity of copying over and a movie counts as the capacity of 1 song.

I purchased an I pad 2. I have an older I pod nano the cord is not compatible with the I Pad2 any suggestions?
You can't connect an iPod to an iPad for syncing content between the two - if you want to have the same content on both then you will need to go via your computer's iTunes.
