I have and original iPad.  I cannot sync it with iTunes

I have an original iPad.  I  cannot sync it to iTunes

You would have to tell us a whole lot more for us to be able to help you.  Examples:
What version of iOS is your iPad running?
What version of iTunes is your computer running?
What type of computer are you using (Mac, Windows)?
What version of Operating System is it running?
Exactly what symptom(s) do you see when trying and failing to sync?

  • Cannot sync ipod with itunes after setting up new computer with newest version of itunes

Cannot sync ipod with itunes after setting up on new computer, only songs which tansferred were songs bought on new computer after set up, tried to sync songs and it deleted old songs from ipod.  How can I get them back on ipod??  They are showing in music library on itunes still.

If the iPod database gets corrupted, it will add files to "Other" instead of where they really belong.
Restoring the iPod will erase this database and recreate it.
And if I do this, won't I just have the same issue when my iPod is re-updated to the most recent version again?
No, it shouldn't. This is why you Restore the iPod. It erases the corrupt database.

  • I hav an iphone 2; previously i synced it with itunes and it was perfectly working bt now the syncing gets automatically stuck in between and it doesnt copies any music frm my pc; it shows tht ur such a song was nt added as d device timed out; wat to do

i have an iphonbe 2; previously i synced it with my pc to add music and it wrked efficiently; bt nowadays wenever i connect my phone to my pc it starts syncing and it automatically gets stuck in between and m now unable to add any songs or videos to it and still 3 gb space os free in my fone; after sometime it automatically shows tht songs were nt added as the device timed out; wat to do

I would either say that the iOS is correpted due to a software glitch or y have have a hardware problem like bad memory locations that are corrupting the iOS.
    - Restore from backup via iTunes. This will install a fresh copy of the iOS. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.   This will elimate corruptin in the backup causing the problem.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • I have just brought home a new ipad 2 and i cant get it to my itunes to recognise it, my pc was picking it up as a camera but i have stopped that .  I cant sync it with itunes

i have just bought a brand new ipad 2 and i cant get it to sync with itunes on my pc, running windows vista.  Tried all the stuff on the itunes diagnostics but still cant get itunes to pick it up.  Any ideas.

    Try both of these -
Connect your iPad to your computer
    Open My computer / Computer
    Locate the Apple camera icon
Right click on it and go to Properties
There should be a place to set what will happen each time the device is connected, set it to do nothing.

  • I have a new iphone 4s and I am unable to sync it with itunes.

I have trouble syncing the brand new iphone 4s with itunes account.
When I connect the phone it brings the itune page up on the left showing the iphone device as iphone but the centre page it  just a white page withe a box giving me two choices. which one to start phone as a new account or make a a back up from an ipad that has been connected previously that i dont want to back up from. I do wish to backup my contacts that are itunes. Can anyone advice please.

If you don't want to restore your backup onto your new phone, choose the option that says to start phone as a new device (it shouldn't say new account)
From there, you can sync data from your computer to your device

  • I just got an iPhone 4s and when I tried to sync it with iTunes it said to uninstall and download the 64bit version. I uninstalled all ove my apple software before I could get it to install at all. Still doesnt work. Doesnt even recognize my phone.

I just bought an iPhone 4s yesterday and it wouldn't connect to the iTunes 10.6.3 I had already on my laptop for my husbands 3gs and my brother in laws iPhone 4. Neither of them ever had a problem syncing with itunes. When I tried I was told to uninstall itunes and reinstall a 64bit version. Took several attempts but I finally got it. Then it said that I needed to upgrade my apple mobile device support and for me to uninstall itunes again and reinstall it. I have done all of this several times and still cannot get it to work right. I have uninstalled every Apple software listed on my computer and had to reinstall it all. Help!!!!!!!

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • My iPad won't sync photos with iTunes & the photos tab has gone on itunes

I'm using an iMac with itunes version 11.1.5 and I have been trying to sync my iPad to add photos but it keeps failing. However i have noticed that there doesnt seem to be a "photos" tab any longer on iTunes has this option been removed??
    Many thanks

You can never totally remove anything that you have purchased from iTunes, the App Store, or iBooks. Your purchases will always be tied to your Apple ID. You can hide those songs by going to Settings>iTunes and App Store>Show all>Music>Off. You can do the same for videos.
But bear in mind, all that you are doing is hiding the purchases and they will not be downloaded to your device unless you go back to that settings, show the songs again and then tap the cloud to download them to the iPad.

  • IPad does not sync correctly with iTunes

Hey, I have a problem and would appreciate some help.
I have all my music library on itunes on my macbook (including some albums that I have created as compilations by collating multiple albums and for which I have edited the album cover photo ie selected a photo of my own). Some of the songs have been entered in my library by cds that I had and the rest by being purchased directly from itunes.
When I sync my itunes library with my ipods all is well and the albums, artists, playlists etc sync exactly the same (that is covers, tracks, order etc remain as shown on my library).
When I sync with my iphone 5S or my ipad air then I get strange... Some albums show correclty, others have a different cover photo - not the one that I have selected and edited on itunes -  some have the tracks doubled or even the entire albums doubled, etc...
Although I have tried to solve this on my own, i have not managed yet...
BTW both my devices (iphone and ipad) sync automatically with icloud and so I only connect them to my macbook in order to sync the music. Maybe this is the problem?? Is there any way to have icloud NOT sync music with the devices?
On my macbook I have tried the ioption 'manage music manually' and then selecting the albums on my own but i get the same strange results.
    Any ideas?
I even tried to erase all the music from my ipad/iphone (by selecting 'manage music manually' and then not selecting any of the albums or tracks in my library) but the music, at least part of it remains there... basically only the songs or albums purchased from itunes showing the icloud download icon next to them.
Any sugestions on how to solve this issue?
    THX for your help,
    Dimitris

  • Cannot sync songs with iTunes since activating Match

Since signing up for iTunes Match I cannot sync songs to my iPod Touch or iPad anymore, it forces me to download them from the iCloud, now multiple times since I have multiple devices.  Is there a way to still move music directly from iTunes to my device?

    @bmorgan
stuart is correct.  Enabling match says "erase songs son device" however that is simply apple's way of saying "we will replace those songs with higher bitrate songs form icloud - you don't need to do anything.
itunes match is a service to have your entire library AVAILIBLE any time you have an internet connection - which most people do most of the time.  Match is for those of us who do not want to take up 30 Gb of storage with music we hardly listen to, just for the one instance we want to "hear that song".
do as stuart suggested.  Turn off match on your ios device, sync to itunes, then re-enable itunes match.  the same songs will be there as before (if higher bitrate songs are available, they will download whether you like it or not.  To avoid this, I would replace all matched songs in your computer's library with the icloud versions - this would keep your ios device from wanting to replace music when you turn on itunes match.

  • IPad will not sync mail with iTunes

    Good evening,
My first generation iPad (16GB iOS 5.0.1) has stopped syncing correctly with my MacBook Air. If I plug my iPad in, iTunes will load, recognise the iPad and begin to sync. However, It always hangs indefinitely when it begins to sync mail. I have only one mail account setup on my MacBook (pop). I have performed a hard reset on the iPad which has made no difference and I am at a loss as to what I should try on the MacBook side of things. I should add that if I uncheck the 'mail accounts' option in the sync settings tab in iTunes, my iPad will sync brilliantly. Also, if I delete the mail account from my iPad, it makes no difference. It is the same whether trying to sync via wi-fi or cable.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    -Tom

  • Cannot sync iPhone4s with iTunes Match?

I have completed the iTunes Match download, and it has Matched all the songs, but none of the songs are uploading to my iPhone. I went to iPhone Settings/Music/ and turned ON iTunes Match and Show All Music, and still nothing! Does anyone have any suggestions please? I have done a soft reset on my iPhone, turned it off/on, turned iTunes Match off/on. What am I missing? I'm pretty sure I do not have to be on wifi, but I logged in anyway.
Am I suppose to select what play lists I want to upload? If so where? HELP!!

Just trying to educate my peeps out there, because if we don't help ourselves, no one will! So, I'm responding to my own thread.
Just an FYI, in order to be able to work with iTunes Match while your NOT on WIFI, you have to ENABLE 3G, by going to the iPhone: Settings/Store and turning ON: Use Cellular Date. I'm just wondering, since Mr. Jobs recently passed away, God rest his soul, is there anyone with brains still working at Apple! You release a product, and then it's up to us to create a knowledgebase to figure out how to use it! Come one Apple, is there anyone left that can still  think! Did you forget Mr. Jobs vision of Apple, SIMPLICITY! This is not SIMPLE Just see for youself, if this was simple, you wouldn't get so many questions about how to install and use this product. Get some instructional videos out there, and walk us through, step by step, INCLUDING all the little things like HOW TO MAKE THIS WORK OUTSIDE OF WIFI, IT'S A CELL PHONE FOR GODS SAKE!!!
Also, please don't forget, I'm pretty sure if you ENABLE 3G, you are using your DATA for your downloads, so you might want to upload your complete libray first, in wifi, THEN enable 3G for the occasional new songs.
    Good luck.

  • Cannot sync iphone with itunes on windows 7 beta

Itunes reconnize my iphone but once the sync starts .. it stops after one second without making any synchronizaton.
    Is there any solution?
    Thanks!

    "Is there any solution?"
Yes, but you won't like it.
Windows 7 is in beta. Windows 7 (in beta) is not currently supported officially by iTunes. Because it is in beta. The solution is to use another operating system that is supported by iTunes that is not in beta.
The problem is, beta software is not final and there are going to be issues with it. Like not being able to use all your software in the way you are accustomed to. I am confident Microsoft mentioned in the user agreement something to the effect of the software is in beta and should not be used on your primary or any mission critical hardware.
Sorry, but that's the cost of wanting to be ahead of the curve. And I would say the same thing to someone running a beta version of OS X 10.6. Of course, I would expect the issue there would be with a third party app, not iTunes. But same thing.
You could always try re-installing iTunes, but no guarantees there. You know why.

  • I bought a used iPod and cannot sync it with iTunes

Actually I want to connect my wifes iPod nano to my Itunes, but it won't let me sync it.
Under devices I see it, but I only get to view the summary of the device

If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar and Control+B to show the Menu bar
To sync to your iPod go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing and follow the instructions
BTW, this is the iPod touch forum.

  • Cannot sync iPod with iTunes and "Other" data increasing

    So here is my issue:
Since I updated my iPod to v1.2.3 (or whatever the most recent one is) my iTunes will give me an error message when I try to drag+drop files from my PC library to my iPod (error message 48). Now when this happens I'll get the error message but iTunes will keep transferring the files I wanted to add to my iPod, BUT instead of them showing up in either Music or Movies the tranferred data just adds to the "Other" section. And I don't know how to view/delete "Other" files.
Is the only answer to restore my iPod? And if I do this, won't I just have the same issue when my iPod is re-updated to the most recent version again?

If the iPod database gets corrupted, it will add files to "Other" instead of where they really belong.
Restoring the iPod will erase this database and recreate it.
And if I do this, won't I just have the same issue when my iPod is re-updated to the most recent version again?
No, it shouldn't. This is why you Restore the iPod. It erases the corrupt database.
