I have fallen for the lure of IOS5 and my ipad2 is now locked up - HELP

I have tried to up-date my Ipad2 to IOS5 and it has locked up. It gave me an error message about the backup and then locked up and now just shows the cable and itunes pic. I have reloaded itunes and tried all the button presses etc etc HELP

I ran into the exact same problem, for some reason iTunes refuses to recognize any device that's in Recovery mode on one of my computers-not just my iPad 2 that's stuck in recovery mode, I put my iPod into recovery mode on purpose to see if the computer would see it and no dice.  I've tried pretty much everything too-uninstalling every driver, uninstalling apple mobile device support, reinstalling everything from a totally Apple software free system and even though Windows sees it and installs the correct drivers iTunes basically ignores that it's present.
The weirdest thing is like many other people have said (I've been googling to try and figure this out)-other computers will work just fine with the device that's stuck in recovery mode-I plugged my iPad 2 into my other computer and iTunes fired up right away.  I went and gambled and updated iTunes to the exact same version (both computers run the same version of Windows 7 as well-64 bit ultimate) and still it fires up perfectly when I connect it.
So honestly I still have no idea what in the world is causing iTunes to ignore devices in recovery mode on one system but not the other.  And this ONLY applies to devices in recovery mode as well-devices that aren't in recovery mode are recognized just fine.  I'm guessing the easiest solution if you don't have another computer available is to take it to the Apple store and yell at them about fixing this since I seem to find people having this problem from over a year ago-it appears to typically happen with a 64-bit version of Windows Vista or Windows 7.
There's definitely something going on that uninstalling iTunes isn't fixing since it seems that a clean installation of Windows and iTunes gets it to work again but that's pretty drastic.  For now the easiest and least hair-pulling method is to go borrow another computer.  Luckily I had a working backup computer system here but not everyone does so it's pretty crummy that this bug isn't fixed even though it's over a year old.

    That's really enough information. You can update this iPad to iOS 6.1.2. If there is a microphone icon next to the space bar on the keyboard, you have an iPad 3. But if you are saying that it hasn't been touched for over a year, it probably is not the iPad 3. The iPad 3 is one year old this week IIRC.
    If you want, you can go to Settings >General>About>Model to find the model number and it you Google that, you can find out which version of the iPad it is.
    I just wanted to see what iOS you would be able to update to. I'm not sure what else to tell you other than what we've already stated. You should set this up as new, update the iOS and then start all over again with you own iTunes content.
    The link that Eric posted would be a good place to start so that you can get an idea of what the iPad can do. If you want to restore the iPad back to factory settings, you will need to do this with iTunes on your Mac. You must be running OS X 10.6.8 at minimum and must be using iTunes 10.6.3 (I think) in order to syn with iTunes on the Mac.

    if you are that uncomfortable trying to do this on your own, and if there is an Apple Store near you, make an appointment at an Apple Store Genius Bar and ask an Apple tech to help you with it. That is what they do. There is no charge for an Apple Store Genius Bar visit. The stores also offer classes for the iPad that you might find useful as well.

    I've unable to Export iMovie project in everyway I have attempted for the past 2 weeks.I have a late 2012 iMac with 8gb of RAM and 700 gb of free space on the hard drive. The video I am trying to export is 48 mins long with most of the source footage from a NIkon D3100 and several other cammcorders. I've been exporting with Apple Intermediate codec because that was the only one that has work so far but it only worked once and since then I have had to make changes to the project and now I'm unable to get it to work. For all Quicktime exports in H.264 or AIC (my prefered format for this export since I figured it'd offer the highest quality when I import it into Encore for making a dvd out of it) Which just stops exporting in the last few minutes without explination as to why or it crashes and quits. It either leaves a partial file or nothing at all. When I do "export movie" I get a "not enough memory Heap zone error"
    I don't know what to do any help would be greatly appreciated!
    By the way I happen to have Adobe CS6 Production Premium but didn't know how to use it as well when starting the project and now really regret not using it because it appears to be 10x more stable and capable of handling all the tasks I want it to do.

    Are your event clips in h.264? If so, you can solve this by Right clicking on your Event Name and choose "Optimize Media". You can choose Full for 1080P or Large for 960P according to your preference.
    After you have optimized your Event, you should be able to Share with no problem.

    Try restarting the computer just prior to sharing. That frees up RAM.

    Final Entry
    Ok - after much cutting, trial and error and days of work I have never really established a root cause for the -108 error. Nothing I did resolved the issue to the orginal project.
    The only work around I have found is to split the Original Project into two.
    What I found was that anything around the 60 mins mark and above just failed to render in HD and showed the -108 error.
    What worked for me was creating two project files - one around 57mins long - the other a part 2 - around 17 mins long. All using exactly the same source clips, photo's, music and transitions as the orginal.
    This now works. I guess having it split in two makes it a little easier to work with as I wont have to keep rendering the first part which does not change but really wish Apple would throw some light on this.
    Anyway - I hope all of the above at least proves useful for others.

    I did that - nothing happen... I have changed my adobe ID and all address to my Canada home.
    Having log myself out and re-log back in to start the Creative Cloud subscription. The payment still shows in Sterling Pounds.
    This is difficult as I am no longer earning Sterling pounds as a wage and the subscription would automatically be doubled payment, because Canadian $ is less in currency exchange to the UK Sterling Pound.
    Thanks for your above suggestions, but what should I do now, to resolved this issue.

    Adobe does not sell older versions of their software.  If you wish to purchase an older version you will have to find and take your chances with a third party vendor.

    Apple most likely has the same poor taste that Microsoft does when it come to defaults.  Microsoft likes to hide things like  settings, preset, folders etc from normal users  think the dumb or something else.  If Apple also hide things you will have to  make some system setting changes that will allow Finder to do it job and find it for you.

    The internet is the internet. if its not working then its something to do with your not allowing cookies from apple's site or they are having issues.

  • Why do I lose sound when I try to make a dvd from imovie to idvd.  The sound is all there in iMovie, but when I make my dvd, I have sound for about 3-4 minutes and then its gone.

    I have made a 1 hour 30 minute dvd in IMOVIE.  The video and the sound are perfect.  However, when I make it into a dvd on IDVD, I lose sound after 3 or 4 minutes.  Any Suggestions?

    I found an article that looks like it applies to that audio issue you're experiencing. Check out the following troubleshooting steps here:
    Resolution
    Make sure the audio track has not been muted in the timeline.
    Switch to timeline view by clicking the clock button in the iMovie window.
    There are three checkboxes on the right side of the iMovie window underneath the sound icon. These checkboxes correspond to the video track and two additional audio tracks. Make sure all three tracks are selected. Any deselected tracks are muted.
    If you are using iMovie 3 or later, check the "Edit Volume" option to see if it is selected. If so, make sure the volume of the affected video clips is not set to its lowest level, or try deselecting the option to Edit Volume.
    See if the volume in iMovie is set to its lowest setting. Directly under the Preview pane in iMovie is a volume slider. Set this slider to maximum volume.
    Make sure the computer's audio is not muted.
    Quit and reopen iMovie, then check the clip to see if it now plays with audio.
    Check to see if any of the video clips you have imported are in the MPEG-1 format. MPEG-1 clips will lose audiowhen you export them as part of your iMovie project.
    Quit and reopen iMovie, then reimport the footage from the camera. Play the newly imported footage and see if you now have audio.
    If you are using an analog to DV converter instead of a camera, make sure the audio connections are good between your VCR or other analog device and the converter. Check the documentation that came with your converter for more information.
    Check /Library/QuickTime/ and ~/Library/QuickTime/ for any third-party plugins. Remove them if present, log out, and log back in. Check to see if the issue persists. If not, check with the manufacturer of the disabled plugin to see if an update is available. Note: The tilde (~) represents your Home directory.
    Note: "Apple Intermediate Codec" and "QuickTimeMPEG2" are Apple components. For more information about a particular plugin, select the item in the Finder and choose File > Get Info. Look at the version string of the Get Info window to see if the plugin developer name is listed.
